MROM-d2att [4.2.2][LINARO][CM10.1][3.4.63] build:20131002 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Introducing MROM-d2att. Custom ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S III SGH-I747
Free Yourself and Feel the Difference
This is my attempt to build a stable, complete, and fully functional custom ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S III completely built from source code; MROM-d2att is built on top of Cyanogen ROM latest 4.2.2 (cm-10.1) source code, branched kernel, and my own blend of proprietary drivers. I recompiled all components to guarantee maximum efficiency and performance. Along the way, I realized that I needed things to work different for the d2att, so I also made some changes. If you like my work, consider a donation to my cause.
BUILT FROM SOURCE PROOF https://github.com/MROM. Every developer should provide proof that he is building from source.
MROM-d2att is entirely build from source. You will see the difference when you run it. Just to list a few features:
Entire ROM and Kernel are compiled and optimized with Linaro toolchain 4.7
Superior Performance. (User benchmarks have reported excellent performance)
Latest Kernel 3.4.x (http://www.kernel.org)
Fast Boot time
Multi-User Enabled
Excellent battery life
Contains all the most common tweaks
QuickPic gallery application
While I tried to maintain the main core small, size is not the main focus.
Few user comments:
Oleschuldad: this has been much more reliable then the other 4.2.2 roms I've flashed, no random reboots, no lags, or a2dp problems....
CQCmaster: The best Rom in terms of performance and battery life and stability.
JoeSchmoe22: I am happy to report that the BATTERY LIFE IS AMAZING!!! I am a heavy user and now my phone lasts all day! Also, the Rom is totally stable!
draco259: Maybe you need to add some bugs to get more comments
1heffer: This thing is rock solid, simple, beautiful, and FAST.
jimmur: I have tried a number of different ROM's and this one is the absolute best.
Suggestions are always welcome!!! After all, this is your ROM and I will try to include requested features when possible.

Thanks for this ROM. Don't know what you did but this thing is really fast. :good:

Nice looking rom, might try it out sometime

Re: [ROM] MROM-d2att [4.2.1][CM10.1] build:20130210
Thanks for this ROM. However, I have a question that is similar to task's. What do you mean when you claim "all the common tweaks"? Could you give a detailed explanation?

He says "better battery than any other rom I have tested" which is a very valid way to put it. He's not saying it gets the best battery life, period. He's just mentioning his personal experiences. Don't start.
It's not misleading to give his own opinion about other roms that he's tried.

The comment is gone... hope that everyone can now focus on my work instead of blasting me for an opinion...

Is it got any extra settings in "system"???or same as in cm?

Re: [ROM] MROM-d2att [4.2.1][CM10.1] build:20130210
ROM is pretty nice. I don't really know what the difference between regular cm and this is though. What are the most common tweaks that is stated in the OP?
P.S. The theme is by DustinB right? Maybe you should credit him in the OP so people can search for his other works, which are magnificent as well.

Thanks for liking my ROM. The theme is from dustinb, he is given credit in the changelog on github... regarding the tweaks and stuff, that goes on how I build and assemble. The method has worked well on other devices, so it might work well for SGS3...
I am waiting for you guys to tell me how the rom runs and any optimizations you might want included in it.
I am pretty open for suggestions to make this a stable and reliable daily driver, but I rely on you guys to help me do so... as a testimony, my previous work speaks for itself.
Hope I answered your questions...

Is there supposed to be an 'Mrom settings' option in the settings menu because I can't see it, nor do I see a developer option.

Settings are embedded in the regular settings menu, as fas as developer and performance, you have enable by pushing 7 times Settngs->About Phone->Build Number.
Developer and Performance are not for everyone...

Team EOSJB 4.1.1 ToroplusNIGHTLIES
Continuing on from the success of the EOS ICS roms, we present to you EOS3, based on JELLYBEAN!
It is the goal of Team EOS to develop and maintain the highest performing and most stable AOSP based rom for an array of platforms. For the latest news on Team EOS releases make sure you follow @teameos on twitter and on IRC on Freenode in #teameos.
--
NOTE: Team EOS, it’s members, friends, dogs, cats, and associates are in no way responsible for any loss of data or device functionality. Use this at your own risk!
--
A quick note on Nightlies: NIGHTLIES ARE DEVELOPMENT BUILDS. They are automatically generated every now and then, and represent the compilation of the latest commits to the code repository. While every effort is made ensure that the commits that are accepted are stable and do not have a negative impact to the overall performance and function of the builds it is not possible to test every aspect of a commits impact to the overall repo prior to it’s inclusion in a given build. As a result it is entirely possible that instabilities may be introduced as a result of a given days commits. That is the nature of the nightly system, and the risk that is taken using the latest code changes to the project.
EOS is an AOSP based rom. It is developed and maintained by Team EOS and is the culmination of our own in house development efforts.
Team EOS Nightly builds: http://goo-inside.me/devs/teameos/roms/eos3/nightlies/toroplus/
G-Apps Package
Because this is an AOSP based rom Google Apps are not included in the base rom. To install Google Apps please flash the following package after installing the base rom:
Temporary Gapps package gapps
--
Features:
Because these are nightly builds the included features are constantly evolving, we do not provide a change log manually. Instead please see the changes on jenkins for your build.
For the most up to date and comprehensive listing of the changes included in this rom please visit http://review.teameos.org
Kernel:
Kernel Note: This rom is currently using the stock kernel, so you can find the sources from aosp.
--
Installation Notes:
These builds are designed to be installed from your favorite recovery.
Perform a full wipe (read Factory Reset) prior to installing this over ANY ICS or JB based rom.
BUGS!
If you find strange or otherwise unexplained errors please report them here: https://bugs.teameos.org/ Please include logcats and as thorough a description of the issue and what lead up to the issue as possible. With out this we will be unable to track down these errors.
Want to contribute to the Eos rom? Well you can!

Exciting times!! Thank you for bringing more JB sweetness our way!
guys let me know if you find any bugs. But i gotta say, this beast is bad ass right out the box! Mms send/receive works, the device properly provisions on first boot. Ya, it's a bad ass first round. It comes with stock aosp kernel. We mostly do tegra kernel development. So grab your favorite jb compatible kernel and have at it.
All over this! Downloading now. Thank you for this, as well a what you do for the GNext community!

Yes. This is built from AOSP. This is not a port from a system dump. And because these are nightlys (more likely 2-3 times a week-lys) new features will be popping up.
Well you are correct. This is a BEAST right off the line. Appreciate all the hard work.

This is pretty exciting. I was running the leaked version but think I have to check this out. Very excited for features. My question is...when nightlies roll around can we dirty flash...or we prob should wipe each time?
Thanks againfor ur hard work

Just flash the new nightly over the top, no need to wipe or install gapps again.
this is horrible. non-stock, the first boot is heavily modified (does not ask you to back up/restore, does not ask about location)
battery percentage mod that cannot be removed
edited the boot animation.
Very disappointed, would never have installed this. I recommend the Are U Jellin RC3 to anyone considering this one.
Do we need to wipe/factory reset if coming from the ACS port? I would think so right? I can't wait to get on to a true AOSP ROM, those ports just feel too....hacked

Maybe you forgot to install the gapps package.
About the battery percentage, Go into settings, scroll down to "EOS SETTINGS", click on "Interface", then disable "Show battery text"
Edit: Also, who said this was a stock rom? Its aosp based

Parents just don't teach their kids respect these days, do they? If you have something to say about the ROM say it but watch your mouth and show some proper respect. Right now you are in someone else's house and eating their food, don't be rude. And I'm pretty sure Google backup and restore comes from the Gapps, not the ROM.

About to flash, making a nandroid first and then I'll report back.
edit: After I wipe and flash the Nexus 5 just keeps booting into recovery :/ Going to assume it may be a TWR issue.
edit2: Fixed my issue by installing faux kernel on top. It seems the boot.img included in the ROM may be broken.

Can't make calls/txt, no signal at all basically.
Sounds like the issue that was on the N4 when we all lost baseband when TWRP was on v 2.6.0.0. Is there another recovery you can use?

A Note about the Team OctOs GApps
We in Team OctOs believe in choices. We believe in leaving the fundamental decisions about your phone to you.
In that spirit, Team OctOs gives you options for your GApps experiences. While any ODEX'ed GApps package should work, we offer you the choice of using some of the same GApps packages that we use ourselves, and leave the choice up to you.
You can find our Team OctOs GApps packages here, and break down into the following types:
GPe - Google Experience
Regular GPe GApps
Dalvik-Enhanced GPe GApps
AOSP
AOSP GApps
Dalvik-Enhanced AOSP GApps
The Dalvik-Enhanced packages are NOT ART compatible. If you plan to run ART, don't use those.
We will only update the thread with Stable Releases, whenever possible. This means that the thread may be behind non-milestone releases. If you have an issue with compulsive flashing, or feel the need to live 'life on the edge of brick', we invite you to follow us on Facebook and/or Twitter. Any dailies that can be released, we will release there. Please note, we pull these releases after a day or two, so if the latest link posted there is empty, simply wait until the next one.

Come Chat with Team OctOs!
On March 6, 2014, Team OctOs will be holding a Google Hangout Meet and Greet/Q&A session beginning at 9AM Eastern time. This will continue until we get bored with it.
Send an email to: [email protected] with your Google Hangout email (if different) and we'll send the invite as the time comes closer.
Bring questions, comments, or just come to hangout.
First!!
What's with that copy(dot)com link you got in your post? Leads no where. But I found the gapps link, maybe it's just a misedit.
Edit:
..... lol
This definitely is a ROM to watch. Does this use CM base or did you guys start with pure AOSP? I only ask because of some known camera bugs in CM.
The only CM was the start of device trees but the Cyanogenmod specific parts has been removed. So you can say this rom is only about 1-3% Cyanogenmod

Giving this one a go!
Translators Needed!
We are currently looking for translators to help localize OctOs into other languages.
Many of the main ROM components are already translated (built-in), but anything that we've changed or added won't be. Currently, we are "English predominate" speakering team, but many of the users may not be!
If you would like to help bring OctOs to your language, check out: https://crowdin.net/project/team-octos-octo-kat-android-ro
You can sign up as a Translator and then start translating the OctOs project. This makes it easy to identify and translate the individual strings.
Everything in this rom works great, lots of options and seems stable. The only bug I seem to have found is the front facing camera lags with snapchat. Ive seen this in a few roms so far but who knows. Great work otherwise, thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..
A: ROM developers, including CM, build something they want to use. The ROM dev that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't (or don't want), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Octo-Kat

I believe those 2 issues are known and currently being looked at, I think the gapps download option will be removed in the near future.
The Download GApps is part of the new (yet to be working) OTA system. Yes, it'll FC for now
We've had reports of Forward/Reverse lookup in the dialer also not working, this appears to have started with the jump to 4.4.4 - We are looking into it. Thank you for the reports!

Just wanted to welcome our new users and am glad we can offer you our ROM. Enjoy!
Maybe I did something wrong not sure, at first I was hesitant cause I use philz recovery, & op in red letters says only use twrp, anyway, I flashed twrp image, full wipe in twtp & flashed rom, gapps, rebooted & started to set up. I looked inside the zip before I flashed to see if theme chooser was there, it was. But once the rom booted up & I started setting up, no theme chooser. I could see it if I went to settings, apps, all. What gives? Any ideas.

Hello again,
After the success of my AOSPAL builds, I thought I'd branch out a little.
So, in the words of Monty Python, "And for something completely different."
I wanted to find a ROM that offered features and customization options. Unfortunately most of the ROMs out now are either very early in development (and don't offer much over the stock AOSP experience). There are exceptions -- Illusion, LiquidSmooth -- but they already have builds for the d851. So I spent hours of painstaking research 30-45 minutes plumbing the depths of the Internet and discovered Android IceCold Project. Active development? Check. Active community and user base? Check. Nice options and a different user experience? Check! I'd found my next project!
Those of you that have read my AOSPAL 5.0 thread will already know this -- so new folks, this is for you: look at my profile and you'll see I've been a member of XDA for several years, and yet I have a shockingly low post count. In fact, the vast majority of my posts here have been in relation to the AOSPAL build. My search-fu and my Google-fu are strong. I search, read, search some more then read some more until I've learned enough to figure it out. I expect everyone that loads this ROM to have strong search and reading skills, and an IQ in the triple digits. I know that somehow, though, someone is going to post questions in this thread that have been asked and answered somewhere else. Not only will I not answer it, I'll waste valuable development time smacking my forehead and staring at my laptop display in stunned disbelief. Also, it makes the baby Cthulu cry.
So with that out of the way...without furhter ado, I present to you AICP Lollipop 0.1! I'll update this post later with a features list and whatnot. I'm also planning on building this ROM using the SaberMod toolchain to see just how much difference it makes -- and I'll make new builds somewhat regularly. I'm actually hoping to get OFFICIAL status on this one.
What's new/changed/updated in the latest build?

Oh Yeah!
Nice,an early morning flash!! Thanks! Will report asap!!!
After such a super high IQ post, definitely know that I'm better waiting for the official CM11…
@CrusherJoe, great to see you taking on another ROM, and one with further tweaks than AOSPA. Thanks for your support.
I flashed about an hour ago, ran it through the usual checks with the Camera, all seems good there. Features are nice, and I noticed that the AOSP keyboard actually has functioning gesture typing. That's a first from all the Lollipop ROMs I've tried so far.
I have found one bug that seems to be present in any and all Lollipop ROMs that incorporate "increasing volume" in the Alarm (Clock) app. And that is that scrolling through alarms (when setting up 4 or more different alarms) doesn't work so well. Screen scrolls maybe 1/16" then stops, and you have to keep scrolling down 1/16" at a time. It's like it loses track of your finger touching the screen.
I've only noticed it in the alarm page of the Clock app, but it could be present in other areas. I'll have to keep track if I find any other buggy scrolling in other apps.
Thanks!

There is no SaberMod 4.10. This statement is a lie. The previous statement was also. Or maybe it wasn't.
Damn it.
The later it gets, the weirder I become.
Anyway...no. After running some benchmarks there really wasn't enough of a gain to make it worth it.
However...
... The next special ops build should (I'd I can get the damned thing to actually compile) will include a combination of Linaro/SM-4.8/9/10 and @JustArchi's compiler flag optimizations. That ought to put some sweat on your sack.
I'll announce it and or it up with a plain ol' stock build so everyone can run 'em both and see what a difference that combo makes (assuming it does, that is).
Okay, I'm not sure what got all borked up, but Hangouts VOIP is JACKED to the point of complete uselessness in terms of being a VOIP phone client.
Seriously -- don't flash the 20141210 build if you use Hangouts/Google Voice VOIP telephony functions.
I'll see what I can do about a fix -- I'll keep everyone posted.
