Help , need to get OTG and MHL working simultaneously ! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys,
My galaxy nexus screen has been cracked and it does not respond in 75% of the screen.
I bought a MHL to HDMI convertor on amazon and luckily got the phone UI to show up on my TV
Now since the touchscreen won't work , I need to connect a keyboard or mouse via USB OTG and use it for navigation.
Problem is the Galaxy Nexus has only a single microUSB/MHL port combined into one.
I have no idea how to split the output from the phone to connect to a USB OTG cable and MHL to HDMI adapter simultaneously !
Any help will be appreciated,
The phone is not rooted AFAIK , but may be I'm not sure. It was running Android 4.1 JellyBean when I dropped it on the floor
The phone does show up on my Windows PC and I have copied the photos off it. But I still want to copy contacts and SMS messages.

You tried just using something like Android Screencast from the PC (USB debugging is needed)
Also, some MHL adapters have a USB port in them, for power. Have you tried getting a crude micro USB splitter? Like this one? http://www.replacebase.co.uk/micro-usb-female-to-2-x-micro-usb-male-splitter-2392-p.asp#.URk59JGYOBs
Not guaranteed that would work though. Also, a quick google of what you want brings up some others with the same issue, have you tried to see if any of them have succeeded?

Good news
I had a spare galaxy nexus in the office and I gently took the screws of both the devices , and just swapped the displays so that I could quickly turn on usb debugging , backup essential stuff and also turn on bluetooth.
Thanks to some assembly videos on youtube ! will share some pics soon

MIMO Monitors are entirely USB-based, so their doesn't need any kind of video out signals on the connector (standard USB connectors do not have video out either). Unfortunately, the USB controller in the G2 does not have USB host capabilities in the current kernel, so this would have to be developed first. Then drivers for the monitor itself would need to be ported over.

While DLNA would work if you are simply trying to stream media over to a larger display in your car, the standard doesn't support displaying the entire phone's screen as is (i.e., you can't send touch responses back to phone, you won't be able to run apps on it, etc.).
No im not looking to use dlna , the mimo monitor is a usb touchscreen monitor . I'm basically looking to make a car dock for my phone and use that as the display and touchscreen .

Do you happen to know if it would take alot of knowledge to add USB OTG support to the kernal ? i know some other phone have been modded to allow usb host , like the droid and the nexus one .
UPDATE
Hey it looks like with some work the display link drivers for linux can be used for android to connect and external usb monitor/touchscreen , Can anyone else look at this and tell me if this is some thing that can be done ?
http://sites.google.com/site/voyageofbeagleboard/Home/displaylink-for-android
I'm an EVO user that is VERY interested in seeing this come to light...I don't want this thread to die!
Here are some linux drivers that should work for the mimo monitor so with usb host enable and maybe some modification to the drivers we could get it to work , just wish i knew enough to do it .

wow
this would be the greatest hack ever to have a permmounted large screen for phone interaction wothis must come to life yt would change everything, 1 device plugged in wherever you are with U/I and hardware to match your usage neeeds

Xperia Arc HDMI tricks.

I've recently bought Xperia's HDMI cable. It works fine on TV but I wonder if it's possible to connect it to PC, to Video Cards HDMI, I have one. But when I connect nothing happens. If anyone knows how to use Phone as monitor via HDMI or to view phone on PC monitor via HDMI please help. Thanks in advance
You wanna use your computer as an external screen for your phone(just like tv)? The possible HDMI port in your computer is HDMI-out, and you cannot use it as HDMI-in. You will need some kind of a usb adapter for it.
And if your monitor(you have a desktop pc?) has an HDMI port, it would be an HDMI-in port. Try plugging your phone into your monitor?
it should work probably... don't know if the graphic card or the monitor will be propertly shown on phone due to resolution issues...
Thanks everyone, yea my video has hdmi out only, but i thought i could use it as hdmi in. anyway thanks for help, if u know any 3rd party software to solve my problem, please advice. Thanks for now

OTG through a HUB

Hey! So i managed my S2 to work with an OTG adapter. Now it recognizes Flash drives, USB mouse and keyboard as well. My problem is though, that i'd want to use both the mouse and the keyboard simultaneously, and later on my tablet as well.
I've got a USB hub which was pretty cheap i guess,
ht tp://itmedia.sk/item-images/other-usb_omega_hub4portSTARpowercapable/it6818_2.jpeg?nc=032
When i connect it to the OTG adapter it lights up, and if there's a flash drive attached to it when i plug it in, the phone recognizes the flashdrive without problem. As soon as i plug in a second flash drive, the light goes off from the HUB and both of the sticks get unrecognized. Also, the mouse nor the keyboard works through the HUB somehow..
I need to buy a specific hub with OTG support or a power hub perhaps? Could anyone help in this? I looked over google and stuff but people seemed to say different stuff at almost every site.. Thanks!!
My Galaxy S has stock 4.0.3 rom with the Syjah S2 4.1.4 Kernel

Oh well that's quite interesting. Then you're saying this piece of video could be fake perhaps?
Since i can post links yet, search for this on youtube: USB HUB Support On GALAXY S2
Check the very first video.
I'm convinced that the every phone can handle only one device connected at the same time.

Well, it surely doesn't seem that way, that's why i was asking, since it's possible.
Weird.... i got sgs2 and 4-port usb hub and when i connect 2 pendrives to hub and hub to phone everything works good (i see UsbDriveA and UsbDriveB). If your hub have dc input you can try connecting power supply to this hub. Maybe this hub isn't compatibile with your phone.

Possible to get midi input to our phones? [YES]

Is there a way to get midi input recognized on our phones? On my pc I use the rock band 3 keytar connected via a midi to usb adapter and I can do midi playback.
Is there a way to do this on our phones via an otg cable?
EDIT: got it done! check my post below.

it works beautifully and way easier than I expected.
connected my otg cable and the phone said usb connector connected (since when is this a thing!?), plugged in the midi-usb adapter to the otg cable and right away it prompted me to open with the software I linked above and another midi software I had installed.
and bam, it was working. I messed around a bit to find the better settings for my keytar, but this thing works. over Bluetooth and with the headphone plug. there's a little bit of lag over Bluetooth but for my uses I wanted it straight to the speaker so i'm using the stereo cable. now I don't need a pc to get sound out of the keytar.
mark this as one more day i'm amazed at what my phone can do.
by the way, it functions as a synth using the software I mentioned above, so I can play harpsichord, organ, piano, etc. and the sound keeps on playing even with the screen off.
happy camper = me.

Looks like you had some luck... Wondering if you can help me?
I am trying to make my Android, Huawei p20 Pro, accept a MIDI signal via USB too.
I have an OTG adapter, and have tested 2 OTG adapters and 2 cords.
All work into my PC (even via an USB type-C to standard USB adaptor )
The issue seems to be that I cannot select the USB in type to be MIDI.
I have also experienced that on another Samsung Galaxy S10
I have tried opening developer settings and changing the setting "Disable USB Audio Routing" ON as per https://help.joytunes.com/en/articles/2636638-troubleshoot-midi-on-your-android-device
I have tried using it with 3 apps that accept MIDI.
Simple Piano by Joy Tunes, FlowKey and USB MIDI Monitor
Any ideas?

Samsung Dex Working on PC but not on TV

I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ (SM-N975F) with Android 10.
I am able to use the Samsung Dex on PC just fine but when i connect it to the TV through HDMI adapter, it only mirrors the screen and i get no option to turn on Samsung Dex. I have checked the HDMI connection setting too and it's set to start in Dex mode upon connection but still nothing happens.
I tried the same even on Android 9 before getting the update to Androi 10 but the issue faced was the same.
Any idea what to do? Or is there is any thing i am missing or doing wrong?
By the way i am using a USB C adapter which has 2 USB 3 ports, One USB C port and an HDMI port.
Any help would be appreciated.
I didnt know that dex also worked on tv...
it could be a fault in the adapter, it may lack the security or something that is required to pass through to HDMI. as with USB to PC it just transfers the info over a standard USB connection. but a lot of modern devices require certain security and HDMI revisions to actually work with a TV, partly to stop people putting the likes of netflix straight through a capture rig.
if you can get hold of a different make/brand of hub I would try that as it may just be that one.
Just to update that I used Samsung Dex Cable and it worked just fine with the TV. As soon as I connected through it, the option popped on phone for Dex. So yes, my Hdmi to Usbc adapter was at fault and there is always a plus side to use official accessories .
