[INFO][DISCUSSION]Renovate Rom Kernel & General Rom related issues - HTC One X

Well since Renovate rom users are saying about to much confusion regarding different topics being discussed in the rom thread we decided to open a thread here.
So you have anything to talk about kernels this is the place. You want to discuss what kinda battery life you are getting with all the many kernels out there, here is the place.
You want to post your battery life results using Renovate then again this is the place to do it...Anything kernel related that has to do with renovate just throw it here and post anything else that you want to talk about RENOVATE..
Enjoy..
And please keep it clean
Ps: Doubt anyone will post here but here it goes

One more just incase

And another one... maybe for older repacks.
Spun out from a JELLIED and RENOVATED One X.

Strongly disagree... Not all users moan... Seen only one...

its ok..i edited that word and reworded the sentence

I think this is a great idea getting renovate about even more plus the rom thread doesn't get clogged up with kernel problems or even looking for re-packs

I suggest we have (repeated) links to repacks here too. Also, it would be nice to make some kind of pro/con for each of them.
I am personally on RENOVATE Final 1.1 stock kernel, which works just fine for me. However, I do miss S2W, and CPU tweaks which I had on ICS (5.8.2), so I am looking forward to flashing a custom kernel.
But not before it's proven in day-to-day use.

Mwilky himself has a 2nd post in his thread consisting of various mods, skins, kernels included. I'm really against a separate thread when kernels with Renovate is concerned. I would have understood if some were talking about the kernel behaviour for a "Y" ROM, in a "X" ROM thread, but that was not the case.

well it is regarding general discussion regarding Renovate and well you can discuss anything you like about it..it is not just specific kernel discussion but more indepth general to be honest

You need to add a link to this thread in 1 of the OP's in the original thread just for reference, maybe in the bug tracker bit and maybe ppl will post here.
I had a really bad time with XM#51/#54 last night, homescreen wouldn't load but the status bar and connections were working plus I could access settings , but even after flashing a different kernel I couldn't get back to normal and was forced to full wipe!
I hear that issue is resolved in the latest version but a few people saying all 4 cores aren't working at the same time, can anyone confirm this is happening on Renovate?
So far Kozmik kernel is my favourite no issues apart from alot of time spent at 400mhz but that depended on what governor was selected!

I was going to repack xm kernel #57 but it seems not all cores are running for quite a few people so maybe I'll give it a miss. Still having fun with #27 here.

I just flashed it and it works fine to me. Only one question if I press left hard button a menu show up with "System tweaks" and if I press this I get the message application not installed. I installed then system tweaks from Play Store but still get the message

nobody ever mention alexs's kernel which started all of this ...
is on XM57 really only 3 cores work, not whole CPU? i have noticed some battery drain more then usual. after all of that i refleshed to stock, think i'm gonna flesh alex original. Or revert back to XM27.. lets see in next few days whats gonna happen...

you know what bud...i think you are right...alex's kernel was the one that started all of this...and you know what..out of all the kernels that was the most stable one...heck might even revert back to that and see how that turns out

Well technically what started all of this was Trip's kernel, but I guess that doesn't count since the was before the source was dropped.

Best combo?? Battery life?? Help..

So I read all these post about custom roms and how each person has to choose a Rom they seem fit but quite frankly I like the stock evo Rom and I'm using launcher pro so it doesn't really matter to me.. but I was wondering is there a kernel or theme combination I can use to like completely extend my battery life??
I text a lot and my battery will drain down and I read a post on her a long time ago about better battery kernels and some tips and tricks about things that can be removed from your phone to make it better, faster, and last longer..
Any ideas and suggestions will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

This has nothing to do with Dev. So wrong section.
I know you say you like stock but you should consider trying cyanogenmod 6 with snap 7.6. I use snap 7.6 cfs with turbo and get amazing battery life.

This question doesn't belong in themes either.... it belongs in Q and A..there have been tons of topics on this already just do some browsing. Personally I have been getting greater battery life with cm 6.1.1 and the savage kernel but that is my phone and my phone using habits so try different ROMs with different kernels and see what works best for you. Alot of people love myns 2.2 if you are into sense ROMs me, my phone, and my batter hate them all though lol

Of course you can change the keyboard and modify it to your exact liking, this is why android is dope. Generally the creator of the rom will post screen shots of total ram used after installation (the less ram used the better = less "bloatware") if you are worried about bloat I would highly recommend switching from sense roms to aosp

for one.. im pretty confident all audio issues ive had with MIUI will now be fixed. i had very very similar issues with my og dinc and after flashing tmt's series those were all fixed.
also if im not mistaken..i believe smartass and oc have been optimized.
i mean im not 100% sure..its just what i remembered from my original encounter with it.
Could this be used on the Incredibly Debloated ROM?

i wouldnt recommend that.
the do's and do nots are there for a reason.
most likely whatll happen is ull see random reboots and a serious battery drain.

Correct. It will not work as they have different ramdisk structures. That's why kernels are tagged AOSP or Sense. There have been a few exceptions in the past that have been compatible with both (I've only seen them for Inc 1 though). Also I believe this is a gingerbread only kernel.
backing up and throwing this on the cm7 nigthly... crosses fingers...
Interested to see if this fix's the Audio issue. Then it would get me to come back to MIUI and load this kernel..to many sound issues for me for now.
so far so good on cm7, haven't tried voice calls yet though to test volumes
clock choices are amazing.. must be 20 of them. ranging from 192mhz to 2035mhz. Don't think i'll be pushing my luck above 1300-1400mhz though

just loaded this up made a test call.. the volume issue is fixed!!
this also fixed the crashing issue for miui music
I lied...just froze on me.
sent from an under rated phone
*edit* The call volume issue is indeed fixed
No issues so far, running it on OMFGB rom, froze setcpu so I could let the kernel at stock clock + the smartass governor do it's thing and see just how far I can squeeze the battery. So far I'm very impressed with this kernel.
If you're like me and have been endlessly flashing between CM7, MIUI, OMGB and OMFGB, Rmk's sense, etc and especially if you have tried other kernels, I'd highly recommend you wipe your battery stats after flashing this. I was a little worried after I first flashed it as I was draining pretty fast (not the fault of the kernel, just have to clean up after a shameless tweak like me gets a hold of something) but I wiped the stats and all systems are go now
One question I have is about the SBC feature mentioned on the FAQ on tiamat website. Is this included in this kernel and if so is it possible to turn it off somehow? I know its included for the Inc and evo - both probably because of the charging issue which the inc2 also has. So wondering if this was included for this kernel. Thanks again. Other than that its running nice and smooth. Hope to run it through the courses to see battery life differences if any
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
OK, so I came from the droid 2, where we didn't have kernels. So noob question incoming.
Does the kernel itself have settings, or would I use setcpu?
If the settings are built in, how do I get to them/change them?
Sent from somewhere over the double rainbow.
Things like clock speed and governor can be controlled through setCPU or the built in performance settings of cyanogenmod. Undervolting is built into some kernels, but I don't think there's a tool for customizing voltages on the incredible 2 yet.

No need to get snarky. You yourself said that nobody cared and I was simply agreeing with your opinion. If nobody cares *about* (note - not *of*) my post then logic dictates the same about your original post. You can can't have it both ways. Anyway, this post (and yours) are both just as irrelevant to the real world.

So I did a test using rightware browsermark and only got about 75000 points, thought that a factory reset would fix it so did that, but now I can't get browsermark to complete one test it just stuck on step 3 of 6
tried several times but still no go and browser fells slow tried everything I can think of like flash on or off ,clear cache
Thanks for helping

Has the devs given up on the Eptouch?

The rom selection is not very good and the roms themselves are full of issues save for the gb ones.
Wtf are u talking about? We have a few JB roms out. we have as much dev support as any phone on XDA!!!!

U are confusing. Not sure what planet u are on or what universe. Samsung/sprint put out a ****ty update and u want the devs to fix it? U know most devs don't do this for a living right ? Also we have a huge assortment of roms. We have atleast 7 roms active being updated daily . Plus cm9 and now JB which one is cm10 and posted and one is not cuz of people like u whining that a alpha ROM has bugs

We should have a few stable builds of jelly bean soon? If you want loads of choices in roms maybe switch to a GSM phone

Why is that the best response to this lol.......I am just trying to point it out lol
So far the worthwhile roms are touched by gs3, aokp and cm9.....cm10 now lol but that is laggy maybe its my phone who knows
The other two are well on the way to being amazing just need stability responsiveness and MHL ability
Also why isnt the CM9 for our phone official? ATT version is.....
You're blind........ The clear and only choice, Blu Kuban. It blows everything else out of the water. Like somebody else said, get a new phone or you can develop your own rom to your specifications.

Have the devs moved on to other phones? Are they working on something awesome?

As I said, if you don't like the choice in roms which there are a lot, develop your own.

Check the development section. Plenty of options for you. Hell, there are even builds of JB for this device not even posted on here.

Whys that always another typical response? Why cant it be something like maybe they are working on something else? Why must I get smartallecky remarks?

Best Available ROM for S3 ?

Which is the best available ROM for Sprint Samsung S3.
I have tried MIUI, found it ok. But didnt like the Apple style Home page. Any other ROM. Tried Viper, but I am not a big fan of Blue.
Please help.
Cmon now there's like 1000 of these posts that have been locked, and like Kenny says every rom is the best each one responds differently on every phone. so go to the development section and start trying them out.

ComeOn, there will be some feedback from users who used the ROM. I am expecting that only.
There is plenty of feedback on the roms thread stop being lazy

ibtl.... honestly these which is the best rom that's are pointless. What works for me may not work for you. Best way to find out is flash until YOU find one YOU like.

An idea: Why not have one thread (it can be a sticky on top) that allows for people to post their experiences with ROMs. That way, people can read up on pros and cons in that thread. We could even look to have a poll for people to vote. I think there should be a good summary section of all these ROMs so people can narrow their options down a little.
The People's ROM has been my daily so far, BTW.

Actually thats the rom thread already. A rom i run on my phone might not run the same way on your phone, so feedback on pros and cons of a rom depends on the user phone. Its not hard looking through a changelog and comments/feedback to pick out a rom of choice.

Cruise threads. Find a rom, read what people have said (last few post typically) flash and try for yourself. These threads pop up and get taken down almost daily. Please spend a bit of time trying them out and reading a bit on them. You will find a good fit.
The Peoples rom (either one) and freegs3 are great. And morphology (in themes) allpws you to make it yours.

You just have to try them out, theres no "rom selection guide for harismahesh" out there, because no one but YOU can be the ultimate judge in whether a rom is the best fit for your needs or for your particular usage.

The liquidsmooth ROMs are pretty good
Do you like AOSP? Do you like stock? Do you like themed ROMs? Are you looking for something stable? What's your definition of stable?
Everyone is different. You have to explore and find what fits you. We are all unique.

I have had lots of luck with Phantom Hacker's roms. As others have noted though, lots of great developers here. Everything is personal preference

Honestly it depends on what you're looking for if you're looking for a true Android experience or if you like the TouchWiz experience or any other launcher for that matter.
Personally I like wicked sensations which is a TouchWiz rom and everything seems to work good on it including wifi tether in TouchWiz which is a rare thing to find. I will warn you that wicked sensations is way overly themed so if you want something a little more stock you may want to try blazer ROM the only catch is that wifi tethering is not working.
If you're looking for something that isn't TouchWiz you may want to try Cyanogen mod I know it's kind of mainstream and all but it works and it's generally what I look for it's more of a pure Android experience and everything works including wifi tethering USB tethering.
With that being said I would recommend trying a bunch of different ones make sure you're comfortable with flashing your phone before doing this. Every ROM has its flaws and benefits just make sure your verifying that it's for your phone before flashing.

LEGENDARY was a great rom! Now that was over a year ago, a different device and Gingerbread. This and the chocolate, vanilla and strawberry post are the reasons that this question while at the moment you thought about it it sounded right but it's really useless. Every one who advised you to go to the Development threads and read and try them out is right.
By the way I like 'Rocky Road'

All the best available ROMs are in the Development and Original Development sections. Check the front page of each section
