google voice - Sprint LG Optimus G

Just wondering if anyone has used Google voice for voicemail alone while running imperium. The guide I saw for setting it up said there was an option to choose Google voice instead of my carrier but I can't seem to find that option. Thanks

I also could not find the option to choose Google Voice instead of My Carrier. All that does is change the number that is dialed when you long press the "1". I was able to change it easily with my Nexus S 4G but cannot locate where to change it on my LGOG. I am not rooted and compltely running stock. Thanks! :good:

[Q] Skip Google Voice VM Setup?

Has anyone noticed lately that when you log in to google voice, it doesn't give the option to skip voice mail setup? Any way around this?

I usually sign in and out of google voice on a daily basis. It used to offer a "Skip" button when I would get to where it asks for the voicemail setup. Not seeing that option any longer. It's not a big deal or anything.. just requires me to go into settings and switch my voicemail options back over to my carrier.

Help! I can't answer my phone!

Ok when I am getting a phone call, it is asking me if I want to answer and to click 1 or 2 etc but before I can do that it hangs up on the caller. I think it's probably Google Voice doing this, but it never did it before. I need google voice, i use it for my voicemail. I run CM7 and it doesn't even have a VVM program. But I can't keep hanging up on everyone who calls me! What can I do?
Go to your google voice settings from your browser. One of the options is to disable the prompt.
To be exact, you should disable call screening

Did you check your sent, outgoing box? I don't think Google Voice is updated to work with Jelly Bean yet. At least the voice part of it...
Yeah its not in the outgoing either

Same here, reported it to google a little while ago, only seems to affect GV, the normal messaging app works just fine
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34175
also, typing 'send text to <contact>' into the search box then selecting GV does send the message, it's just the speaking the command part that doesn't seem to work.
Justin
Well I wish I had seen your post before I hard reset but at least now I know it won't fix it. Thanks for your help hope it gets fixed soon

Hey guys, I also have another issue with Google Now Voice Search. When I ask for weather forecast, it always returns result for Washington DC although my current location is Dallas, TX. The weather card in Google Now main screen displays the correct location, though. Anyone has the same problem?
P/s: I managed to get OTA update to JB 4.1.1 by doing the clear framework trick and restarting my phone several times, does that have anything to do with the above issue? Thanks!!!
is google doing anything to solve this problem ??
I haven't seen any updates to google voice app lately

Google voice problem

I've had Google voice since I've had a droid 1so i know it worked before. I've had my gnex for more than a year and had no problems (different ROMs too). It just stopped working all of a sudden. I signed out, I uninstalled it. It says my carrier doesn't support it. I've always had Verizon.
I've gone to the help thing it gives me. That didn't do anything. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, any suggestions?

Update: so i called my Google voice number with another phone and it works. But if I call my cell number it goes to my Verizon Voicemail. Idk why or how.

You might try going to the Google voice site. Login and go to your phone listing in the settings. I am next to your mobile should be a link for deactivating voice mail. I'd click that, ignore what it says next and click okay, then click activate again and punch in the code it gives you to setup forwarding again. It sounds like that might have gotten lost some how.
If it doesn't say deactivate then just do the activate process again. I haven't always had the best luck with the app setting the settings correctly so this might help.
Good luck!

Visual voicemail

Howdy,
I just switched to T-Mobile today with a new G3 and ported over from Verizon.
I am having a problem getting the visual voicemail to work. when I try to use it, I get a unable to communicate with server error. This was happening on my wife's LG G3 too, I setup my regular voicemail just fine.
Anyone else having this problem? Or do you think it could be something to do with the porting process (everything seems to have ported fine)
Or any other suggestions (besides resetting my phone, I will try that last, but would like to not have to set up everything again)
Thanks!
Use Google voice way better

How are you using google voice? On my handset, I have it all set up as I should, but the "Voicemail Provider" option within call settings is greyed out, I cannot change that to google voice.

Keyword there is "showing."
It's Google Voice. Call your phone from a different phone to confirm and you should hear your Google Voice greeting.

You can also call T-Mobile and have them do the following:
--Disable Voicemail on your line
--Setup the forwarding number to be your Google Voice number
You can also setup the forwarding yourself the be the Google Voice number. After doing this, even if I don't install GV after a flash, the calls still go to GV voicemail and whatnot.
