When I have issues I save everything from internal SD card to my PC then load the ROM files to ext SD. Then I go to recovery > wipe. Then do Factory reset, system and data. That way its all clean. Don't wipe external.

install it from your internal card, NOT your external card..

Flash the latest TWRP and re download the time and flash again.

Super Wipe

I would grately appreciate if any Dev can make a flashable zip, like the one Darkside made for the s2
Or I'm wondering if I can still use the darkside one, b4 I flash a new ROM on my S3?

I read the OP but it says its gonna wipe my internal SD card, such as data and media.
I got a bunch of movies on my Int. SD card, so do I have to move them to my SD card?
That or back them up to a pc. Superwipe wipes everything but external sd.
Sounds like you are looking for something more like the factory reset through cwm or twrp.

I had the s2 but I always used the script from darkside, it didn't touch my SD card even the internal.
If u got time check it out and you'll see what I'm looking for.

Just go into cwr and mounts and storage and format system, data, and cache.
It will accomplish the same thing

anyway to install a rom without wiping internal Memory?

I'm not use to factory reset in recovery wiping internal storage. Because of this I had wipe all my titanium backups prior (now I know to keep it on the external storage).
But this means every time I install a new rom my internal storage will be wiped (unless I backup to external storage) ?

internal storage doesn't get wiped when you factory reset. i'm using CWM from the toolkit (the universal CWM). what are you using?

really? I'm using the same CWM from toolkit. I remember doing a factory reset in recovery and install new rom. I noticed all my files were gone. I'll do it again and see what happens..
I just wipe/factory reset from CWM and internal storage all gone.

Get off of cwm and use twrp. It definitely doesn't wipe internal storage.

As a heads up, I had an issue with the latest TWRP not wiping anything for me, verified it twice. I reverted back to 2.3.1.1, keep an eye on that though.
I think they released a new twp to fix that

Was looking for this thread because I'm having the same problem. I flashed 2 roms with cwm and didnt have any issue with backups, the 3rd time I lost everything on internal sd. Is there anyway to get TB to recognize extsd? I know it did on my evo, but I can't get it to on the note...of course TB is to busy t9 help

I would think so, yes
Format system deletes system files

So formatting sd card in cwm will retain the rom and the superuser?

Sd split help..

Is there a way to wipe my internal 16gig.. From loading 4.2 and coming back to 4.1 somehow my internal memory is messed up. When I go into twrp I can see some files in my downloads folder but when I boot up and explore my memory it's different. I have factory reset and wipe when I Flashed new rom but it don't fix it.

Try looking in data/media and you will most likely find your files. It's a 4.2 change

In twrp there is a wipe internal option. Not sure if that'll do what you need.

Cannot complete reboot after flashing Rom

Good day fine community.
My Galaxy S3 i747M(Rogers) stays stuck @ Galaxy S3 screen after flashing this ROM S3Rx 3.0 TouchWiz 4.3 MJB (1-27-14) Full AROMA.
1. First succesfully flashed 4.3 bootloader and MK5 modem from within a 4.1 ROM
2. Then used TRWP, full wipe, formatted internal sd, flashed ROM and loaded well.
3. Then attempted a Nandroid, which for some reason stayed almost an hour in the "backing up system data", so I cancelled it when the "cannot finish" message appeared.
4. Then rebooted, and now stays stuck in Galaxy S3 screen.
I redid 1, 2 and 4, and still stuck, even if I let the phone rest for more than 10 minutes.
For the life of me, it seems to be a bootloader issue, but I am unsure.
Anyone has any idea what I did wrong?
Thank you.
Try wipe of /system and all other wipes that you can apply. These are under the advanced section of your recovery
This will wipe your whole phone. Then try and reboot

Builtnoob, did that. My sd card was fully wiped, as well as cache and dalvik. Thanks for the input.

Shortydogg, once i flashed and was in the launcher, and alk was working fine, I rebooted in to recovery to do nand. Even if the nand was uncuccessfull, i should still be able to boot into the rom, since it was already running. That is my question: how come it stays stuck at boot. Thx for looking into it.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Usually first boot takes a good half hour at times. Give it some time. However this could be due to a faulty flash. Or some corruption of data. Use twrp to mount your internal memory. Then redownload the ROM and reflash .

Did you format the internal SD or did you format the system, data, and cache from recovery?
audit13, I formatted everything but my ext sd card. Tonight I will try again, this time with fresh download and wiping cache and dalvik after flashing, before booting, and will report back. Thanks guys.

buildnoob, 10-4.

An easier fix may be to just flash a pre-rooted 4.3 ROM that is made for the Bell, Telus or Rogers version of your phone. Then, load a custom recovery to flash custom ROMs.

Buildnoob, thanks for the info. I did fresh install and wiped cache and dalvik after flash and now all is well.
Thanks guys for the help.
