Vsun i9 rooting - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi, just received an Vsun i9 (also announced as Peter Pan) bought from China (Aliexpress). MTK6577 1Ghz, 512Mb 4Gb ROM, Android 4.0.4
It came without Play Store (and crashes if installed manually) , the google account doesn't sync, etc. etc. so it's the kind of phone chinese goverment loves (unfortunatelly for me)
I've tried to root with Superoneclick and z4root, but didn't suceed
I tried to install alternative market, like Getjar, but it seems it calls to Play Store apk, and also crashes with some downloads
Any ideas will be welcome

Thanks for the suggestion.
The Micromax A68 seems to be based on a non 3G chipset and is not dual core (MTK6577 is) should it work?

I looked for Micromax A68 in the forums and saw your post about unlocking it ... but probably because I am a newby I and never rooted before got lost among so much roms and downloads and din't manage to unlock (at least yet)
Anyway thank you for showing me the path, will keep investigating, I suppose it's part of the fun, even when my wife doesn't like having an android phone without acces to market

Finally I managed to root this Vsun i9, using Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18
Now the cellphone is rooted, and with Super User installed, and also installed root explorer.
Next problem is that Play Store keeps crashing if installed, the Google account still doesn't sync and most of the solutions I found require copying files to /system/app , but when using Root Explorer I am not allowed to write on that folder.
By investigating, I understand I will need to install the gapps package (or install a rom that work with this phone), if I want to have the syncing and play store,
Can someone give me some clues about how to proceed next?
----
Just adding some useful info for people with same model.
When trying Superoneclick (that was always freezeing on Zerg Rush Step #7 on my Windows8), I was asked to execute as administrator.
I thought it would be good idea to run as administrator also Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18, but was always receiving errors from the batch script, so I just thought it was not working,
Finally excuted once as normal user, choosed the "1) Normal", and that was all, my phone rooted!.
Don't forget to turn on the USB debugging option on the phone options.

I found that with Root Explorer there's a "mount r/w" option that let's you full access to system folders XD

Hello! I am thinking on buy this phone. Can you tell me how does it works? What do you think in general terms?
Is it a good phone? How about camera?
I have found the last ROM V0013 "VSUN_MT6577_4X4_OV5647_R007_02_CHINESE_V0013_TXD.rar" in a Chinese forum. Is it your phone rom?
If I update with this rom, can I root using Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 after that?
Thanks you so much!
Sorry for my English!

Any solution
I just recived my Vsun I9 and the phone is amazing for the money, but I have the same problem as everybody ells, Google play doesent work, has anyone find a solution?
Hans
PS I can recommend Amazon appstore as an temporary solution.

How google play works on vsun i9
Dear Guys:
When you have a vsun i9 like me, root him and copy the google play app into the system map and install it from there with root explorer and everything works fine, because that app need all rights. Good luck. :good:

Hoi Hans:
Try it with SRSroot setup (google the program) install and let the program do the work for you
You will need internet on the pc that root the phone but it works.

And now google playstore
- Step 1: Uninstall google playstore.apk
- Step 2: Enable 'USB debugging' on your device (you can find this in the settings menu)
- Step 3: Enable 'Unknown Sources' on your device (Also under settings)
- Step 4: Connect your device to the computer (If needed install the android drivers)
- Step 5: Click on one of the ROOT options in this software (you can choose between supersu or superuser), and wait till it's finished.
- Step 6: Download root explorer.apk and install it on your device.
- Step 7: Download google playstore.apk and copy this file into the system/app/ map of your phone with root explorer.
When it's not allowed to past the file look at the top of the screen and change the properties of root explorer to read and write (mount r/w to mount r/o).
- Step 8: Change now the permissions of that app to
Owner = read write
Group = read
Others = read
- Step 9: Then install the playstore.apk from this place en restart your phone when done.
- Step 10: Now you have a full working playstore app on your mobile

How to Root the Trio Stealth Pro 9.7
(a.k.a. Trio Stealth Pro 9.7C 4.0)
The Trio Stealth Pro 9.7 is Mach Speed Technologies' second entry into the Android Tablet market. Their first entry was the Trio Stealth Pro 7 and it came already rooted. Unfortunately this one, its bigger brother, did not come rooted.
But our friend Bin4ry has come up with an innovative solution that works on many ICS and JB tablets and phones. And fortunately for us it works on the Trio Stealth Pro 9.7.
His post titled Root MANY ANDROID! [Upd: 13.10.2012] can be found on this forum at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Be sure to view his "How to" video on youtube before attempting this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EpkrCq1gfM
You will see in the video he says to test the adb drivers and to not attempt this root until you pass that test. So here is my real contribution in that the folks at Mach Speed have a nearly useless support site that hasn't been updated to include either Stealth Pro tablet in any case. So what you need to know is that the Trio Stealth 9.7 is basically a rebranded MOMO11 Bird edition. Then you need to find a Spanish language forum post that refers you to the following site for the MOMO11 Bird edition (upgraded to 4.0.4) drivers:
Get the drivers here -
http://www.kmods.net/android/drivers_g59.html
If Bin4ry updates his tool, I suspect it will still work. But just in case, I used
I used Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v15
Problems Rooting
I have the Trio Stealth Pro 9.7 and am trying to root it.
I watched the video, noting the tablet portion, downloaded the drivers for connecting the tablet to my PC (kmods.net/android/drivers_g59.html), connected the tablet to my PC, used the drivers, and then followed his video tutorial as closely as possible. I noticed problems in the process when the blue screen terminal did not automatically pop up on the reboot. I had to go to the apps page and start the terminal myself. I tried the onload scripts, but no luck. Still said it didn't have permissions.
What were you referring to about the "Spanish language forum". Was that for the drivers you posted in the link? I have retried the process a few times, but no luck. I'm not sure how you can help, but wondered if there was anything you did differently than in the video tutorial. You selected 2(for tablets) and 1(for root), right? I was thinking of trying option 1 for kicks...

hi there, Im trying to buy this and wanted to ask you a few questions:
1) What is the screen resolution? 1280x768? or 1920x1200?
2) Have you been able to ROOT it? Not sure why you would as I am sure it can install any APK file and does not have cell service to root to tether with. I rooted my phone just to get free tethering working.
3) Can you install Google Play on it? How about amazon apps? Is installing google apps such as Gmail/Youtube/Maps as easy as downloading the APK from androidpolice or similar and installing them?
4) have you tried playing any 720p mkv movie/show files, I dont even know if it easily reads external drive and/or it has file explorer to copy files to it.
Sorry to have asked you these in this thread but you seem to be the only person who owns it and I may pick one up fro walmart tomorrow.

I just picked up one of these tablets, early this Black Friday morning from K Mart.
The box says 1204x768
I haven't tried to ROOT it yet.
I downloaded Google Play v3.10.9 APK file from here and it installed OK. I was able to run the app well enough to get up a Google account, Gmail,, and link the tablet to it. However, whenever I try to actually download an app, either from the Play app or from the website, the Play app on the tablet fails and gives an error msg it stopped working. The manufacturer does offer is own app website (apps.triomp3.com), with a small minimal number of apps. I also found that Aptoide works and offers a reasonable number of apps, like Chrome and Google Sky.
I haven't tried that yet, but the tablet does have a file explorer already installed.
I'm trying to root now and install google play, I also picked one up for black friday. will let ya'll know how it turns out.

4) don't know,. I haven't tried.
Well, I did the root and the installation of Google Play store.
While I found the instructions intimidating, it turned out to be pretty easy. I have rooted several of my cell phones, and this was easier.
Some comments:
I didn't need the drivers; neither storage nor ADB. My installation of Win 7 sp1 x64, already had the required drivers.

Phonesky is apparently a copy of the older Android Market app. However, after it self-installs, it will automatically update itself to the Google Play app. Just give it a few minutes.
After the automatic update is done, open up Google Play, and go to the list of apps already installed. Do an "update" on all apps so noted. This will not only get you the latest version, but also establish a "link" to the Google Play store so that you'll be notified of future updates.
Much thanks to bardell3600 ! ! !

This worked on my daughters Trio 7! Thanks
Just ordered one of these, can't wait to root and tinker. For those of you that already have it, have you found a good folding case/keyboard for it? I know there are tons out there for 10" ones but seeing as this is 9.7" i want it to be perfect.
Thanks for all the info bardell3600. Just bought one of these and plan to root it when I receive it in the mail. From your instructions seems easy enough to do and put the google store on it.
Couple of questions though if anyone knows.
1. I read a review that says Netflix doesn't work on this? Is that true? If so can I fix it?
2. Is there custom firmware available after I root it? Can I just install the latest momo11 bird firmware on this tablet since its a clone?
3. How do you make a backup of the device? In case something goes wrong. And how do you upgrade the firmware if possible?
Sorry never really owned a android device just messed around with some from time to time.

Based on my experience on other Android devices, this might be due to the device being rooted. When rooted, you could make a permanent copy of any downloads from Netflix, and share/copy them. So, the Netfix software detects if a device is rooted, and will not run if found to be true.
If so, the fix would be to unroot, either permanently or temporarily, before running Netfix.

Its the overall size of the tablet, not the size of the screen, that matters for the case. IMHO, there really isn't a difference between 10" and 9.7".

It appears the previous poster is correct. Likely whoever wrote the review you refer to had not seen this thread and therefore he/she had not rooted. Their problem may have been as simple as not being able to install Netflix without Google's Play Store.
I just loaded Netflix via https://play.google.com - it seems to work fine. Did not signup nor signin. Had to launch twice. The first launch failed to obtain the device token.

You are likely ahead of the curve on this one and #3, below. Custom ROMs are just that, a ROM custom built for a specific device. This tablet it too new.
You can try other ROMs like the Momo11 ROM. But you do so at your own risk. I would recommend strongly against doing so because you are so new to Android

Like the question above you are getting the horse before the cart. Apps like Titanium Backup will work fine once the Trio 9.7 is rooted. But for a full ROM backup you need Clockworkmod Recovery. That is a Clockworkmod custom recover built specifically for this tablet. Early summer I bought a different Tablet that was brand new, just introduced. It took about 3 months before someone posted a Clockworkmod Recovery method.
No one had even rooted this device until I did just two weeks ago.

Just ordered one of these, can't wait to root and tinker. For those of you that already have it, have you found a good folding case/keyboard for it? I know there are tons out there for 10" ones but seeing as this is 9.7" i want it to be perfect.

I think WaltA may have misunderstood your question. I think you are asking about cases not overall screen viewing area (viewing area ratio is a personal opinion - I much prefer 9.7 over the thinner and wider 10".) Concerning cases, it is not a preference. A case built for a 10” will never ever fit a 9.7.
Cases are custom built to match the buttons, connections and camera(s) of a specific tablet.
Google "ployer momo11 bird case" and you'll get multiple links. Look for something open on the front camera side. This tablet has the speakers on the side. The Momo11's speakers are on the back. So a Momo11 case where you slip the tablet in from the front camera side would be nearly exact except two extra slits in the back where the Momo11 speakers are placed.
Momo11
Dimension 243mm * 190mm * 9.7mm
Net Weight 0.63 kg
My ruler and micrometer say
243mm * 190mm and
0.40 inches = 10.2mm
Trust me, unless it is a metal case ½mm won't make a difference
Thanks for the input. I see many options out there. I guess back to my original question, do you personally have a specific keyboard/case for this tablet that you particularly really enjoy?

Adding Google Apps to the Huawei Ascend G520-000 (Chinese model)

Post Updated 19/7/13 right here to save you reading the whole thread:
Bought Huawei G520 (quad core) direct from China £125
It starts up in Chinese, but with a little help from Google I managed to change it to English quite easily
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
Just look for the "A" icon and then it's the top option to change to English
(If you put an English sim in it first, it defaults to English anyway)
No Google apps!
I didn't anticipate the China vs Google being a problem, especially since "Android" is "Google"s own OS. How can you have an Google OS with no Google apps, but you can, and China have.
Anyway I spent the next 2 days solid trying different solutions, different rooting tools, flashing tools, downloading Google apps by apk (some do work but most just close down & cant login)
Locked up the phone in my desperate attempts to install virtually anything....but...
....I managed to find the Huawei G520 000 Official Stock Rom here....
..UPDATE 19/7/13) have since found newer official B192 version here - havent tried it though....
...either of which is easy to install.....unzip the folder and copy just the folder called "dload" to the root of your sd card - remove your G520 battery for about 30 seconds...refit the battery....hold both volume keys with one hand...now hold the power button too until the process starts (about 15 seconds)
Even managed to install Clockworkmod (whatever that is), dont ask me how, where, just a result of trying so much software I guess - When I saw it I figured it was rooted, but still couldn't install anything with it so I guess it was still not rooted
Anyway I discovered that the "Bootloader" is locked on this model - was directed to.....
Huawei website where you can request bootloader code (16 digit number)
....and found out the same as you, that the G520 is not listed - Dang!
Decided to ......
send an email to Huawei just on the hope they might respond
.... - I wrote down all the details as required from the official form and sent it.....Would you believe it, they only went and sent me the bootloader unlock code THE VERY NEXT DAY - in fact it was within about 8 hours - BRILLIANT!
...you need a usb driver to perform the unlock procedure and to be honest i installed loads so i cant remember which one to credit but i found this
.........official Huawei Generic USB driver...
...it should work although is does make you wonder why they dont link to it in the first place? If I remember right, if its the correct driver and you connect you mobile in USB Debugging mode (Settings > Developer settings > USB Debuggin = checked) the PC says "connected in ADB mode"....
Followed the official Huawei bootloader unlocking procedure...
...and Bobs your uncle "Your bootloader is UNLOCKED" - Yaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy
I thought the rest was easy now - nope
Tried a million and one rooting/flashing tools, still wouldn't root (I downloaded "Root Explorer apk" to my mobile to try and access the root directory and thats how i knew it wasn't rooting - nearly gave up on the whole idea - figured it was root locked for ever
The G520-000 is Exclusively Chinese so I started searching China, which was difficult, not just because it's Chinese but you cant use Google because for the same reasons it doesn't search China - so I ended up using the G520 browser its-self to search (got millions of hits because its very popular in China) and if it looked interesting I emailed link back to my PC where Google translated the web page - loads of forums about flashing the G520-000
Anyway I found a buzz on Chinese forums .......
about this tool
....and can you believe it - It rooted it in 1 minute
It's in Chinese and installs Chinese superuser...but its easy to follow - Moderators that dont read Chinese...this is the companies own tool and its totally freeeeeeeeeee
Just remember that it prompts in Chinese and on the left is "Deny" and on the right is "Allow"
Tried Zardamans excellent suggestion here....
.....but although I installed Google apps , the current OS kept closing them down so you still couldn't login & and it generating repeated errors so i uninstalled them in the end...on reflection it could be that I was "deny"ing privileges inadvertently, until i learnt a bit of Chinese.....anyway
Read an article which suggested using "Root Explorer" to install ONLY the 5 apps below
OneTime Initializer.apk
GoogleLoginService.apk
Google Services Framework.apk
Setup Wizard.apk
Gmail.apk
directly into root\systems\apps folder
Restart you phone - login to Gmail - done!
now install any/all of the other google apps including Playstore (this is the app that crashes the system if you install it before Gmail) just by running the apk file
I have:
Google playstore (sometimes called Phonesky.apk)
G+
ContactSyncAdaptor
CalendarSyncAdaptor
Chrome
Play movies
Google music
All working fine now
Yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope this works on G520-5000
So I skipped all the parts that didn't work for you and downloaded this chinese program.
When I click the green button nothing happens.
I am guessing I need to install the phones drivers but I don't know how.
Please help, this is my first smartphone and I don't know much.
I am very happy with the phone but the lack of google play bugs me.
Spent the last 2 days researching this problem.
All I found was this but it didn't help:
As a new user to this forum I can't post links so i sent you a pm.
Thank you
Heres an easier one
http://www.winkabarkyaw.net/2013/04/how-to-root-huawei-g520-5000.html
Just download the Huawei Driver
Once youve installed this driver on your PC - just run the rooting software - it will recognise your phone and root it
Thank you so much.
I will try it tomorrow because it won't work on my 64bit Windows 7. I will install a 32bit version.
I will post results.
Update 1 :
I installed the driver on 32bit Windows 7 successfully.
Got stuck on the bootloader code.
I've sent them an e-mail.
First I need them to explain how to get the product ID, this *#*#1357946#*#* doesn't work for me.
This is going to take longer than expected.
They replied:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Huawei device.
Sorry that there have no bootloader unlock code for this item.
Once again thank you for contacting Huawei device.
Best Regards.

Huawei method of *#*#1357946#*#* for Product ID works fine on mine - are you sure you are typing it correctly?
Otherwise I cant imagine - all the rest of the numbers are in the settings>about menu
Yes I am sure. When I type the last asterisk it wipes the rest of the code and nothing happens.
There is also no Product ID anywhere else to be found on the phone. There is some CMI IT ID number behind the battery but it is a 10 digit number.
I'm glad it works on G520-000, on G520-5000 it does not.
Apparently I am not the only one.
Anyways they responded to my mail with this after I explained the code doesn't work:

LOOOL
I already sent another mail.
Thanks!
Thanks for the thorough information Jethro - I managed to unlock my g520-0000
Just like you I have tried many flash tools and at the end I had to update to the B190 rom because the phone was already a mess (downloaded the one from the link you have posted), because the phone could not root with Vroot.
So, what worked for me - generally I combined some parts of a tutorial for unlocking my other phone (Huwaei y300) with parts of your long story
1. The unlock procedure
After receiving the code from Huawei I unlocked he bootloader following this unlock procedure (only the unlock procedure from the tutorial, not the whole tutorial!!! - Step 2) : huawei-y300.tumblr.com/post/47366836617/how-to-unlock-and-root-huawei-ascend-y300-all
2. After that downloaded VROOT from the link you have posted and it rooted the phone in a minute
3. Installed Root Explorer
4. Installed Google apps / Playstore ....
From another tutorial about y300 I downloaded a Google apps .zip with many google .apk files - huawei-y300.tumblr.com/install-google-apps
First: I downloaded the archive in order to extract and copy only 4 of the .apk files.
The archive has sub-folders. The 4 apk are in sub-folder gapps-jb-20121011-signed\system\app of the archive:
GoogleLoginService.apk
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
OneTimeInitializer.apk
Phonesky.apk
Second: I used Root Explorer and copied the 4 files to root\system\app
* When trying to paste the 4 files the Chinese SuperUser installed by Vroot asks you for root rights for Root explorer - press the RIGHT Chinese button which should mean sth. like YES If you press the left one you will deny rights and after that like me will have to go through the Chinese menu of SU, find Root explorer and give root permissions to it - it took me 30 minutes and was not sure what I'm actually doing
Third: Restart the phone.
After the phone restarts you can start Playstore

After several attempts installing/running Phonesky.apk (Google Playstore) 1st (as you did here) mine kept crashing with "Playstore is now closing" error, and wouldn't let me login - thats when i read a suggestion to install Gmail 1st, login to gmail, and THEN install playstore (and all other Google Apps) which worked fine for me - so I guess even the same models have their own peculiarities )

I did discover after some experimenting with Google Translator (heres my original script) and lot of pressing the wrong prompt that the Chinese Superuser right hand prompt means "Allow"
At least I now know one chinese word )
I did try and install English superuser.apk immediately after unlocking but i think it just installs this as well as the chinese version and this does pop up again when updating/installing other apps
Actually now I think about it maybe this was the reason i couldnt install playstore 1st, because maybe i was pressing "Deny"
I might just bite the bullet and try the whole process again just to carve the whole process in stone

Jethro, thanks a lot for your walk-through. I pretty much tried all your steps but didn't succeed. Maybe you can help.
1. I went straight to Huawei's website, filled out that form and kindly asked for the unlock key. Together with S/N, IMEI # and Product ID. Three attempts, but never any answer from Huawei.
2. Downloaded VROOT and with the help of my Chinese colleagues successfully rootet the G520-00000. Or, so the software says, according the Chinese. I have a Chinese "Superuser" installed, or whatever that little tool is.
3. I've manually added Gmail and Google Play Store. Logged into Gmail first.
I can now start Play Store. However I get a "Connection timed out". First I thought it was because I was still in China. But now back in Germany with no restrictions on the internet, Google Play Store can't connect. I do allow (Chinese character on the right) Play Store in the Superuser software. But no success.
Is it not rooted?
I have ESFileExplorer installed and I get access to whole lot of "strange" folders. I can delete certain China Unicom apps.
I can install Google Chrome. But Chrome crashes immediately every single time.
Without the Play Store I don't get G+ and other Google apps running that require Googe Play Store access.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Andy

[ROOT] ARCHOS Elements tablets - Fast and simple root

Although some might still find this tutorial useful, I don't think I will be updating it. If you have an ARCHOS Elements tablet you should be able to root by installing ArcTools, use install apps tab, download and install Rockchips generic recovery, and then installing superuser.zip from recovery.
__________________
This simple root can be performed in 5 minutes, but I'm writing this guide to help you quickly get past some pitfalls I encountered. It works on the Titanium series, but will probably work on other models in the ARCHOS Elements line as well. Please comment and confirm so that I can update the list of supported models right here:
Confirmed working on:
ARCHOS 70 Cobalt, Titanium
ARCHOS 80 Titanium HD, Xenon
ARCHOS 97 Titanium, Xenon
ARCHOS 101 Titanium
ARNOVA 97 g4
ARNOVA 101 g4
MEDION LifeTab E10310 / E10311 / E10316
MEDION LifeTab E10312*
*Users report that vroot doesn't recognize this model.
Does not work on::
ARCHOS 97 Platinum HD (first edition, but may work on the second edition 97b Platinum)
ARCHOS Gen10 XS series
Requirements:
Windows OS for root tool
USB cable for tablet
Instructions
1. First make sure you are updated to the latest firmware from Archos. Since there aren't any custom ROMs for this device yet, you want to have the latest bugfix version before you start.
2. Download latest version of the VROOT app here (Now available in English): http://www.mgyun.com/en/GetVRoot

3. Install the VRoot program in Windows
Now the VROOT app should be running and waiting for you to plug in your device:
4. On your tablet, make sure that USB debugging mode is turned on in developer options
5. With tablet turned on and booted up, connect it to the computer with USB Cable
The app should recognize the device and give you a screen like this:
6. Click the green button.
Your device will reboot in several seconds. When it comes back up, it will be rooted. I don't know if the new English version will install the Chinese superuser or not. If you don't see Chinese, then ignore those parts of the following instructions.
First, it is important to know that when the app pops up to give root access to a program, you need to push the right side button to grant access.
7. Now, you can search for and install "Superuser" by ChainsDD from the Android market. The version made by Clockworkmod does not work for this procedure.
8. Now start Superuser (from the market page after installing), and click on the "i" for Information at the top of the app. It should say su binary v3.x.x with the option to "tap to check for updates".
9. Check for updates and then click the update button.
This will replace the Chinese binary version with an English version. You should now be able to see the normal Superuser Icon in the app drawer and will start receiving prompts in English. But the Chinese su has been known to take over again, so we need to get rid of it while the English su is in charge...
10. Open Settings | Apps in Android and find the Chinese app that was installed, it has a blue icon. Perform a normal uninstall of this app.
11. Now use ES Explorer or another root explorer to delete /system/apps/Superuser.apk (note that it also shows the blue icon)
In ES Explorer 3, you need to first mount system as writable by going to Tools, Root Explorer, Mount R/W and setting /system to RW.
After a reboot you should have root with English SuperUser.
*****************
This root was done without enabling SDE on the device.

Hi,
thank you very much for your tuto. I did root my Arnova 101 G4 successfully with that. You are Great
So I did not have to replace the chinese SU with english SuperUser.
I have installed SuperUser by ChainFire from PlayStore,
I tap on the "I"
I tap on the "check for update"
I tap on "update"
but the response of "make sure su works" is Failed
Do you know how replace Chinese interface by english interface because my mandarin is not very rich
Thank's a lot for your answer

Have you tried any method to unroot it? You know... Just for the science .

The first time through I was able to make the Chinese app go away just by installing superuser, and upgrading the binary. But when making the tutorial the app got reinstalled. I think that if I delete or disable the app, I might lose root. So for the time being I'll leave it. It isn't hurting anything and my prompts are all in English from Superuser.
**See update a couple posts below **
To unroot you would just go to the archos website and follow directions to do a destructive upgrade with the latest firmware.

Now I got rid of the Chinese Superuser completely
1. Make sure the English Superuser is the one in charge by opening an app that needs root. I recommend ES file explorer since we'll need it in the next step. If you get prompted in English, you are ready to proceed. If not, follow steps in the first post to replace the su binary.
2. Find Superuser in Android app settings, the one with the blue icon
3. Clear its data
4. Use ES Explorer to delete /system/apps/Superuser.apk (note that it also shows the blue icon)
If you can't delete it, it is because you need to go into ES Explorer's advanced settings and mount read/write on the system partition.
Now the pesky thing will never come back.

Ok, just rooted my 80 titanium with vroot v1.4.3. Some steps are a little different but I succeeded.
I installed English superuser and updated binaries. Thing is the Chinese SU app kept popping up when I had to set permissions in every app. Going back to English SU I had to update binaries again.
My work around was to update English SU binaries and immediately froze the Chinese app. Now English SU app is in control. If everything goes fine these days I will uninstall the Chinese app.

Updating the binary will only update the su binary that was added during the root process. If this fails, the worst that could happen would be for you to lose root and have to start over again.
Likewise, my proposal to delete the Superuser.apk is also removing something that was added during the root process. So far we haven't removed or modified any system files, with the exception of changing the directory and file permissions as part of root.
My main complain about this tablet is the battery life.
Would be nice to discover a few things:
- find the problem behind all alarms and wakelocks running (screenshot) . I think its preventing the tablet to deep sleep well.
- calibrate battery and see what happens. This video shows good results. I talked to the user who upload this but he has no longer the tablet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRUmJgPHR3Q
- find an app or mod that allow us to decrease the brightness a little more. The minimum brightness level is just too bright to use in total dark room. I know there's filters, but I want to gain a little battery with this.
- find a working app to limit and overclock CPU speed

I guess I am happy with the battery life, but only because I knew it would be an issue and I leave Wi-Fi off unless screen is on or it is plugged in. I won't try calibrating the battery because that video was probably made with the earlier firmware and we have the updated one which may have resolved whatever issues he was having.
Have you tried installing a recovery? I don't want to experiment too much until I can do a nandroid backup.

Just testing performance with CPU underclocked to 1008 MHz (antutu benchmark test of 9500 points). Will see if this have a positive result in battery performance.
No recovery yet.
I recently bought the Archos 97 titanium hd and I have a problem with a weak signal. I upgraded to the latest version but problems such as weak wifi signal and some graphics problem are still there. Will I with rooting fix these problems and what are the main advantages of rooting?

I'm surprised that the update didn't solve the wi-fi problems, are you sure it was successful?
Rooting is not a magic bullet to solve your problems and at present, the advantages are limited because there are no custom Roms for it yet. If you don't have a specific reason for gaining full administrator access to your operating system, then you probably shouldn't bother.

You could test this alternate ROM and check if those problems are solved:

Sometimes I have to press two or three times the power button to wake up the device.
Maybe this problem appeared with root process? Maybe with the underclocked CPU?
Anyone with this problem?

Updating the binary will only update the su binary that was added during the root process. If this fails, the worst that could happen would be for you to lose root and have to start over again.
Likewise, my proposal to delete the Superuser.apk is also removing something that was added during the root process. So far we haven't removed or modified any system files, with the exception of changing the directory and file permissions as part of root.

The brincking of my Tablet was not after the root process. Your solution did it successfully.
I bricked it when I changed the vold.fstab file to swap memory between external and SDCard ... Now I'm waiting the back to technical service of arnova to unbrick it.
Thanks a lot i finally root my tablet.. But one thing after rebooting the tablet superuser went back to chinese language..

[V50030A] Root with Lollipop installed

Hi,
I installed V50030A yesterday from Korean version, which is great. Now I need to root (to be able to use dual window with whatever app).
Anyone ever succeeded ?
Thanks.
Dripple_
Have succeeded in doing so here..
Use iRoot to root the tablet.. this will install Kingroot, a couple of chinese apps and a service..
Download iRoot for Windows PC here ::
iRoot - English Version (not tested)
iRoot - Chinese Version (tested and works) Your browser may block the download as google has stated this as untrustworthy.. bypass it.
After install make sure you have the most recent LG drivers for the tablet installed. (if you have installed the kdz i'll presume you already have done so)
make sure 'USB Debugging' in the developer options is active and that 'Unknown Sources' is enabled in Security.
Connect tablet to pc... Start iRoot/vRoot.. wait for it to connect to your tablet. Hit the green button to start root procedure.. here it will install a couple of apps and a service (these you will want to delete later) along with Kingroot and a rather bad version of busybox.
Do not touch the tablet and let it go through the whole procedure and reboot.. If it fails first time round, just repeat the whole thing again.
Hopefully you should have root.
Now this is important... You need to replace Kingroot with something that aint a piece of ****.. I suggest Supersu. For me this did not work straight off and it kept failing to update the binary.
What I did in the end was download Super-Sume. This is designed to aid installation and properly removes Kingroot while installing the most recent Supersu free addition.
Hopefully now you are rooted with Supersu.
install busybox from the play store so it replaces the bogus version that came with iRoot and you should be ready to go.
Delete remaining chinese apps and service that appeared and you free to go.

[FIX]Fix for Android applications not installing/starting in Windows 10 Mobile 10536

Since Windows 10 Mobile 10536, it's not possible to both run or install Android applications.
However, with the new tools in the attachment "WindowsBridge.7z", it's now possible to do that again.
Steps:
1 - Extract (using latest WinRAR or 7zip, for example) the contents of the attachment somewhere;
2 - Copy everything from the extracted "Tools" folder to the folder where you currently have the wconnect tool;
3 - In your phone, go to developer settings, enable "Device discovery", and choose "Unpair all" to remove previous pairing info;
4 - In your PC, make sure no process called "wconnectsrv" is running (use Windows Task Manager), and then use the new wconnect tool, and pair the phone again;
4 - In your phone, uninstall current Android applications;
5 - Reinstall them using the new wconnect tool, in the same way you did before;
Troubleshooting:
This method only enables installation with proper registering of Android apps.
If the application opens showing at least one screen, but crashes somewhere else, it's related to the Android Subsystem.
When trying to install an application, adb could return [DELETING_EXISTING_APPLICATIONDATA_STORE_FAILED] .
In that case, restart the phone, and try again
Best regards
And here comes our hero
Thanks! trying now.
Edit: autodiscovery doesn't work..
Another edit: After a few more tries it works, but no keyboard in the app.
Thanks! This worked for me!!
I did get stuck while installing on one app and now i am unable to uninstall or reinstall it. Not sure how to remove it, ill try more tomorow

What apk were you trying to install? Could you share it? I will have a look at the uninstall/reinstall issue.
I tryied with the ppsspp emulator and it is not working, installation is ok, but after the "preparing" screen, it closes

F****** success!!! Brilliant!!!
anybody got google apps on this build?
Anybody tried on Lumia 640xl ?
Thanks, it works!
But doesn't Project Astoria support lollipop apps?
They show INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK error (e.g. Facebook Groups)
Couldn't install apps with API 21 or greater, only for api 19 (kit kat).

I am using a Lumia 1020 on 10536.1004. I tried this method and all apps (tried Facebook, FB Messenger, FB Pages, Line, and aillis so far) crash at startup so far.

Possibly because they all use Google play services which is bit tricky to push... There were some tools that were stripping Google play from apps, but by that functionality goes down as well...
Unfortunately, I seem to be stuck at the connection stage with "Error Code - 6."
Thus far, I've tried:
wconnect.exe usb
wconnect.exe usb PINCODE
wconnect.exe 192.168.X.XXX
wconnect.exe 192.168.X.XXX PINCODE
And it results in the same error each time. I'm wondering if one needs Windows 8.1 64-bit version in order to successfully connect. I'm running 32-bit.
Anybody have any insight on this? Willing to experiment! :good:
