Ultimate all-in-one Hand grip, Stand, and Car mount for under $3 - General Accessories

I mentioned about this exogear knock off from ebay before, but after playing more with it - found a few other uses for it!!!
You can get it for $2.85 shipped from HK (http://www.ebay.com/itm/170901902477?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649), but don't make the price fool you because it's of a very decent quality. And if down the road it breaks, for a few bucks it's an easy replacement. While I was impressed with its clip functionality to hold Note 2 with a case, I noticed on a side of the clip base a screw which allows you to take off the whole car mounting portion of it. The clip by itself, with a rubber tip lining, works as a sturdy stand AND as a hand grip which could be enhanced even further by attaching a ring to a mounting hole after removing the base.
What's great about it, you don't need to glue/stick anything to your phone, you don't have to worry about it sliding of the mount, you can use it to hold a phone while in bed watching a movie, or as a stand on a table, or use it as a mount in the car with included suction cup base or any other standard bases since it uses universal ball joint. It fits any case from slim to Defender, and easily removable.
So, as a car mount it looks like this:

And with it's additional functionality:

Says for iphone 4 will it fit the huge note2?
Edit: I went ahead and bought 1. It is $3... not gonna waste time thinking about it. LoL. It'll be here in 3-4 weeks as usual. Hope it works and won't fall off and break my phone. Haha

Will it fit the ZL?

Absolutely, had it in pictures here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40740915&postcount=2 - ZL with this grip/stand. I also use it in bed when watching movies/tv on the phone.
Regarding it's description, they use "iphone" as a keyword to get search hits lol!!! This clip fits everything up to and including Note 2.

Awesome gonna pick one up as it's so cheap.
Love my iOttie car mount, but don't fit many of my cases unfortunately.

In for 1!

Just as a warning guys. I ordered this mount last July and its a great looking piece of kit, and its form and function are great; but unfortunately its not all that durable or steady.
First, it wiggles. The arm there is a little thin and when you hit bumps and what not the phone wiggles. It can be slightly distracting when your following GPS to have the screen shake like that. I can understand how that may seem like nit picking but the real problem I had was it's durability.
The first thing that happened to mine was that the ball that the mount rotates on wore smooth and would not hold the phone's position no matter how tightly I screwed on the ring. So to remedy that I took it apart and roughed up the ball's surface with some sand paper. Problem fixed, no more slipping.
And that worked for awhile. And then finally one day I was adjusting it, and I hadn't loosened the ring enough and I snapped the arm right off.
Admittedly it was a bit of user error but the arm really did twist off quite easily. I didn't really put all that much muscle into it, it just seemed to be fatigued with use.
So yea, looks great, works great....just handle with care, its a little delicate.

Thank you to the OP! I didn't even realize I could use the clip as a desk prop. So not all is lost, no more car mount...but I still have a desk prop, kick stand thing!

Yes, vibrations are expected for this type of a design. I just had 4hr round trip with this holder in Highlander and w/ZL battery and tpu, and it worked really good. As far as built quality, it's $2+ gadget You can get a real Exogear Exomount 2 for $30 (which is a base for this knockoff). But overall it's a very useful toy on my list. I use it all the time when I watch movies on my N2 in bed. Saved me dozen of times from getting a black eye lol!

Hummm... no shipping details from seller yet. Wondering whats happening.

For sure! Just to note my mount was the Exogear branded version of this, ie. the Exomount Gen 1. So I paid about 20 bucks.
That being said if you can get these for like 4 bucks shipped, yea no question...great value for the money.

I purchased this type of mount from a different seller a few months ago and had the same experience. My note now rests on my dash(mounted low on the windshield) because the ball joint is worn out. I will try your sandpaper trick and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks for the advice

ebay has it for a buck or less. I'm sure you can get it at walmart/target/bestbuy since these are typical Garmin style dash sticky disks.
Btw, I have been using this in a car on a windshield and its solid!!! I'm talking about $2.85 ebay version Been using my wife's Highlander for a few long trips, so don't want anything permanent mounted in there. This one goes on the glass and holds my Note 2 with Zerolemon 9k3 battery without a problem, and extra weight is not an issue either. Yes, you get vibration and some shaking - that's expected, but its a solid phone mount on a windshield. The one I have at home, just a clip - it's my go to piece when I'm watching tv/movies in bed. Had it for a very long time - no complaints. As a matter of fact, I find this cheap knock off spring to be stronger than original Exogear one.

The rubber "X" shaped thing keeps your phone from turning once you mount it either landscape or Portrait. Included are like 7 different sized metal buttons that attache to the phone ranging from small to large. I use the smallest one on my Galaxy II and it holds perfectly. Its about a quarter of an inch wide. There are larger ones if you want to mount a big GPS or something. Watch some YouTube reviews or see the perfect star rating on Amazon and you will be sold on this thing. I picked mine up at fry's electronics instead of ordering and shipping but its available through the Tetrax site or Amazon also..
Where as The FIXWAY comes with a small mount you stick to your dashboard and attach the FIXWAY unit to. I prefer this method to the vent method since I use my Vents often. PS I Had to remove mine from it's original spot to another (switched from iPhone 4s to Galaxy 2 and needed the the phone higher so it wouldn't block my NAV unit screen) and there was no residue or marks left. It comes with 2 mounts and more can be purchased.
Here's a pic of the button on the back. This is the medium sized one, I use the smaller one.
While pretty cool and I'm glad you posted this (it's a cool idea I just don't want to put the button on my phone) You come off as a HUGE corporate shill.

It comes with an auto grade 3m adhesive. Although not impossible to remove, I had to use a little rubbing alcohol to do it. Its a very firm hold. I've had mine on my dash for four months and on my 4s since October. Only been on the GII a week or so. Still firm as all get out. Might not be for everyone but not having to push buttons to pull off or put my phone on sold me. Less adjustments I have to make the better. It just works.
Those things are pretty smart but it's a pain in the ass having to stick something to the back of your phone.
I guess it's not too bad if you stick it to the back of a cheap TPU case and only use it when mounting it in your car though. It's a small price to pay considering the TPU case is only like $10.
EDIT:
After watching the youtube videos it seems like it's pretty cool. I might actually sell my samsung infuse dock and get one of these instead. I like the feature of being able to just grab it off the holder instead of prying the phone out of a car dock.

Yeah that was my biggest reason for ditching my old dock. Simplistic mount and it stays put. No bouncing around while I'm driving. Plus it looks cool compared to most setups IMHO. Plus if you use more than 1 device its nice cause u don't have to adjust every time you swap.
Hint hint... Thanks Button
Haha, I'll grab one by the new years and see how it works. I'm still a bit skeptical on how it will hold the phone but it seems promising.
There is no good place to put it on an Aegis case
Wow that magnetic holder in reality is horrible in theory is wonderful
why could they not use "SHAPED magnets say SQUARE magnets ??
then you would not need the fugly X thing. and it would lock vertical or landscape easily enough ???
is not the magnet a danger to the phone or memory card? it has to be a pretty beefy magnet to do its job.
what I REALLY like about this mount method is you can use "ANY" case you want with it. and unlike your phone you can probably dig a small crater in the case and more "flush mount" the magnet.
I would want to go with "TWO" magnets. this way you have 2 points of contact and therefore no need for the fugly X rubber beast on your dash.
I am liking this idea. I wish I could buy "JUST" that little "puck" in the middle sans the big ugly X. but $35 is a bit much to hack it up to extract that piece especially since I need 2.
boy am I liking the potential of this. so you have had no data issues with the magnets?

No there isn't any issues with the magnets because the polarity is set in such a way to maximize hold and leave no magnetic field. On the site there is a puck only option, its only like $14.99. I like the look of the X personally but you never see it since its behind the phone anyways.
BOy even that is $24 plus shipping
$15 for the mount $9 for the set of buttons (but it does come with 7 of them it seems)
a little steep but cheap enough for me to take a shot at it when funds allow
ahh that is not how magnets work. they don't "cancel" each other out they REINFORCE each other.
so the mag field of those 4 magnets is stronger than the field of just one.
don't believe me? pop the back off your phone. now stick it to the mag mount.
not stick some paperclips on the "inside" of your battery cover.

OK FORGET EVERYTHING I just said.
in seeking out coupon codes I found a video HOLY CRAP that thing is TINY TINY TINY. I mean REALLY tiny.
I though that the "X" was "bigger" than the phone. I did not realize how SMALL they are !!
holy crap. I am DEFINITELY getting me some of these the moment I have the cash !
though now I confirm and expand on them being WAY to expensive. ouch.
but yeah I WANT this. bad.
MORE and MORE impressed
apparently there is something "interesting" about the 4 mag arrangement and something about the metal "tag" used to hold the phone. it (the metal dimple) shields the phone
VERY cool

either way its AMAZING and I definitely WANT IT. just got to save up some cash it is not cheap

I think I got about 6 different sized buttons with it; 2 small, 2 medium, 2 large. I use the smallest with my GSII and it holds great. Its smaller than a dime and thinner than one too.
FYI The magnets are absolutely no concern for your phone unless you manage to put a CRT or spinning disk hdd in it. Solid state electronics aren't effected by anything but the highest magnetic fields, think the level of magnetic field you could levitate a frog in.
This is so tempting to get but I need to find a way to mount it on my phone first.
i must be the only one who thinks it looks ugly and then it also uglies your phone with a shiny protruding button also. unless manufacturers implement the "button" inside the case or they make one that's strong enough to hide inside the cover instead of outside, i can see this take off.
Probably will damage my vents

ProClip Car Mounts

So I've preordered my GSGIII (Verizon) and I'm planning to order myself a ProClip mount within the next few days.
For anyone who's familliar with ProClip mounts, you know that normally they offer at least 4 different options for a phone:
Standard Holder
Adjustable Holder
Charging Holder w/ Cigarette Lighter Adapter
Charging Holder w/ Straight Power Cord for Fixed Installation
The adjustable holder is the one not specifically designed for this phone... They make them in a few different sizes and the one they show when you put in your phone is the one that they say will fit it. The adjustable holders are generally used when you have a case on your phone, so you don't have to take it out.
So far, the only two options are the standard and the adjustable. Here's a picture of the standard:

Here's a picture of the SGSII charging holder, which should look pretty much the same for the SGSIII:
I have two questions though...
First, I'm coming from an HTC Incredible which has the charging port on the side. One of my car chargers had a very loose connection. Since the usb port was on the side, it never fell out as long as the phone was kept upright (it would fall out instantly if I turned the phone on it's side putting the port on the bottom). I did have another car charger which fit a little more snugly, but I'm still a little worried about the bottom usb port placement on the SGSIII. I don't really want to (a) pay extra, and (b) have to wait longer for the charging holder, but I also don't want to have my charger falling out all the time if I get the one with the open bottom. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about that?
My second question is regarding the Samsung "Ultra Slim Covers" (I have another post about those). It's hard to say exactly how thin these things are going to be without having used one, but they claim that "The case is ultra slim, giving you the feeling that it's not even there." I'm wondering if it'll be thin enough to fit in the standard ProClip dock without having to get an adjustable. I've never used a ProClip dock before so I don't know how much slack there is... but I would assume it's pretty snug. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
In addition to my two specific questions, since I haven't used these before, I'm also interested in hearing people's general opinions of the product. I know they're expensive, but I'm fed up with suction cups and want something more sturdy and fixed. I've not read a single thing bad about them (other than price). I'm curious what you all think.
Proclip mounting products are great, know this from a car forum I frequent. For a while I used a Cellcup for my phone (OG Epic) but now am thinking of getting a proclip driver's side console mount and retrofitting the stock Samsung car mount to it. If you want to set up your phone mount on a console (vs dash vs windshield) it is Proclip great way to go. Don't know about the phone fitting with a case, these mounts are made to hold the phone snugly so an adjustable mount would likely be needed.

Suffice to say that the OP is not going to get the SIII into a ProClip mount with a case on, there's absolutely no way.... they are WAY too rigid to have anything but a full-body protector on it, and even then, the sides may rub too much for the phone to even want to go in the dock, so don't expect to use a ProClip with anything other than nothing!
The SII mount I've been using with my Skyrocket has done wonders for mounting so far, but I'm dying to see how it will work with the SIII.... I'm not using an Infuse 4G mount, I'm using a D710 SII mount with roughly the same dimensions as the Infuse. I added some extra protection from a spare ZAGG full-body protector and had to trim away some parts that were rubbing way too much and releasing the glue under it when mounting the phone on to the dock!
ProClip is gonna have to do something to their prices for people to want to buy those instead of just getting an Infuse dock for less than $20 shipped! I bought the ProClip car mount for my new car recently, but couldn't see spending another $60-80 on a phone mount when all I had to do was put industrial strength Velcro to the front face of the mount that attaches to the car, shave down the ball joint from the D710 mount, and then attach the opposite Velcro to that smooth surface, giving me a nice mount for my Skyrocket and hopefully an even better mount for the SIII when it arrives!

It's not hard, but I wouldn't ruin the car mount by drilling holes or anything crazy, just use Velcro so you can swap it out to whatever you want in the future!

I've used the adjustable clip for several phones with or without cases. Works very well and you don't have to worry about it fitting. I just adjusted it for my S III after using it for my Galaxy Note.
I've got one of the ProClip charging mounts for my GNex and had one for my Droid X as well. However I have pre-ordered an S3 and would be willing to use the Infuse mount for it instead of spending another $60 but don't know if the back mounting point uses the right size ball/socket to make use of my existing mounting HW.
Does anybody that has the Infuse mount know how it actually connects?

Definitely go for the adjustable holder. I purchased one years ago, (I think they were meant for iPhone 3S phones with a case.) But surprise, they hold just about any phone.
As for the mount, I got a vehicle specific custom bracket from a company called Bracketron. And then simply mated the two with strong double sided tape that's rated at 2lbs. It's extremely secure and removable. I'll try to post a picture later.

Same here... After buying model specific Pro-Clips for my 2 previous phones, I purchased an adjustable Pro-Clip mount for my EVO 4G and have been satisfied. I plan on using it with my SGS3 when it arrives. I do miss having the built in power port but it really isn't that hard to plug the charger tip into the phone...
I really like my Kuda mount, anyone consider those?

OK so they're backordered... and my phone is arriving tomorrow.
So, so does anyone know what the absolute cheapest (probably universal) mount out there is that I can buy to hold me over? I'm looking for something around $10 or less.

will these work with a case? maybe adjustable? I have the casemate pop! one which I like alot

Arkon Slim-Grip Ultra mount for car and home

This is a review of a newly released Arkon Slim-Grip Ultra (http://www.arkon.com/Slim-Grip Ultra/index.html) grip with various mounting options that can be used in a car and in a house. I have been using a lot of different car mounts for years, everything from cheap ebay parts to some more expensive brand names, but I keep coming back to Arkon for a very simple reason - it lasts through years because of the quality of material they use, more robust locking mechanism, and engineering of adjustable lockable joint. Also, since I use different cases on my phone and like flexibility of attaching my own cables where I want to, I prefer universal nature of these grips.
Since the day of my Droid X, I used their original Mega Grip which still works well with my Note 2. The problem, related to my car, was where I can place it since I didn't want to mount to windshield glass and I didn't want to use sticky or bean-bag bases on dashboard for suction cup mounting. My dashboard is textured, and regular suction cup didn't work with it. So I came up with combination of mounting my Mega Grip to another vertical sticky mount that worked with my car.

I tried looking for a sticky base suction mounts, but those were either not good in heat, didn't work with my textured dashboard, or came off after awhile, so I vent back to my original setup. Now, I was pleased to see them releasing a new Slim-Grip Ultra mount, based on spring loaded mechanism rather then grip-locking mechanism, and was especially intrigued to see a sticky base suction mount offered along with it. This grip is based on spring loaded mechanism where one side will extend when pulled. This mechanism actually allows one-handed operation when in portrait orientation (then you can flip in to landscape if you want to) or you can use with two hands if you have your orientation fixed in landscape. Also, it comes with 2 sets of feet (with inner soft foam cushion) where in addition to original set the extra one gives you another 1" of clearance. With original feet you get about 6" total opening (perfect for up to 5" screen phones or 7"/8" tablets in landscape), extended feet give you clearance of up to 7" - perfect for Note 2 even with extra bulky case. Also, the feet slide thus making it adjustable to a position most convenient for your micro-usb charging cable, headphone cable, etc.
Adjustable mount arm has a very sturdy easy grip nut for different angles, and the grip uses universal ball joint which makes all the component interchangeable with other mounts and grips. In addition to low profile sticky suction mount, I also got extended arm mount for my Nexus 7, although could be used for a phone as well (uses regular suction cup), and two headrest mounts for either direct headrest mount or adjustable arm mount so both of the passengers in the back can share a view of a tablet or a phablet. Every mount is engineered with high precision and reliability; once locked in - its very sturdy and has attachment for slim-grip ultra grip or in general any other universal ball join mount. Those headrest mounts will probably be used in our SUV for kids to watch movies on Nexus 7 while we are on a road.
I'm also tested out sticky suction cup at home on various surfaces and different horizontal, vertical, and upside down positions. It worked perfectly in every case and stuck to a surface like a cement glue!
OK, so here are more detailed pictures of various setups inside of my car and at home.
*** IntelliGrip edition of Slim-Grip Ultra was reviewed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44760662&postcount=41 ***
I like those plastic bibs for your car seats to protect them from your kids. Now that is really smart. Which I did that 6 years ago. There is stuff on my seats from our boys that will never ever come clean.

I was wonder if that telescoping car mount would hold a note 2? or is it an inch to big for it?
---------- Post added at 12:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 AM ----------
So from what I gather from arkon catalong I need a mount part #SM060-2 with the telescoping part #CM117-SBH. The combination of the both part #TAB-CM117 would be an inch to big. I guess I just answered my own question. Thanks again for the cool pictures.
---------- Post added at 01:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:49 AM ----------
Just ordered the parts from http://www.mountguys.com. With free shipping on orders over $35. Thanks, this was exactly what I was looking for.
Yeah, those plastic covers are backseat savers
No matter which mount you choose, they all have universal connection to clip any/all Arkon mounts. In every mount option I have in those picture, I use the same Slim-Grip Ultra. It comes with 2 sets of feet, for Note 2 use a longer one and for Nexus 7 a shorter one. The whole setup is VERY flexible. And you can actually use any car grip or even Garmin gps. Slim-Grip connects to a small mounting plate which has universal ball joint attachment that works with all other similar ball join accessories.
Nice review!
Btw, that upside down suction is for real. I was asked by someone in another forum how that was done. It's just an upside down suction without anything else. That sticky part with air suction works like a cement glue!!! Also forgot to mention, the sticky gel part is easy to wash off and it becomes like brand new.
OP, question for you. What's is the extended mount in pics 4,5,6 calls. I cannot find it on Akron website. Thanks.

Strange. It seems they updated their webpage and that particular combo is not available. The part was SM6-CM117, and I see it's still listed in their catalog: http://www.arkon.com/catalog/Arkon 2013 Catalog.pdf
Let me ping them to see if they can fix their website. Or perhaps you can use that P/N if you order by phone.

If the windshield mount is low it does not cover my view of the road, but then its hard to reach without leaning forward. ..

and it was also added to their main Slim-Grip Ultra page: http://www.arkon.com/Slim-Grip Ultra/index.html

Just like with any of these sticky pad bases from Arkon, Exogear, iOtties, etc. - just rinse it under the cold water and shake the water off. The rest air dries within minutes and you are good to go. In one occasion I had some specks of dust already stuck to it when I removed it from a surface, that got washed away as well.
How well does this work with the ZeroLemon battery?
The official universal one I got from Samsung doesn't hold it as well as I'd like, pretty sure it'd fall off if I went over too many speedbumps.
I could only find this on eBay, not on Amazon, it's $22.99 + $13.55 shipping to the UK, or $36.53/£23.89, does that seem like a good price for it in the UK? Take into consideration the iBolt xProDock is £35.95+£9.95 shipping for the Samsung version, while the HTC version is available on Prime.
iBolt mini-rant:
I'd rather not get that just out of spite for all the delays and broken promises for those of us not in the UK. We were told long before it was even released that it'd be available on Prime in the UK but here we are, months after release and the Samsung one costs an extra £10 in delivery costs.

Doesn't sag much while driving? The universal samsung one barely holds onto it and the added weight has it bouncing all over the place.

What is the minimum size that a device can be, that the Slim-Grip Ultra can accept?
I.e, would it accept a GPS device that is 3.3(H)x1(D)x3.7(W) inches?

The best car mount for Galaxy S5 - still Arkon Mobile Grip 2

As most of you know, I write hundreds of various reviews in General Accessories section of our forum/community (check out the link in my signature), so I typically being asked questions about what I found to be the best for a specific phone model or specific functionality. One question that always comes up, especially in PMs, what is the best car mount for a specific phone X or Y. I personally believe that car mount should be universal to use with any phone and any case, and with full access to all the ports, and mount option to work on a windshield or a dashboard.
With over a dozen of car mounts I reviewed recently, I have to admit Arkon Mobile Grip 2 (http://www.arkon.com/mobile-grip/) is still my top choice, currently for $19.95 including shipping on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Windshield-Dashboard-Suction-Smartphones/dp/B00I58VAZS/). Though I have reviewed it already with my Note 2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2648852), some ask me how does it look with S5. Now after getting Galaxy S5, I've been using MG2 in my wife's Highlander and still find it to be the best car mount for the phone.
It's sticky suction base mount adhesive is as strong as a cement attached to any glass or textured dashboard; works even on a slightly curved surface. The removal is clean and doesn't leave any residue, plus it's re-usable - just rinse under a water if it starts to loose it's sticky grip. The mount arm accommodates different angles with an easy adjustment, and universal ball joint allows full 360 degree rotation. The spring loaded grip is very secure and easy to operate with one hand, and it's minimalistic design keeps the back of S5 open to use even as dashcam. Obviously, there is full access to all the ports for charging, headphone/audio cable, and power/volume buttons. As a bonus, MG2 also has a screw mount for universal camera tripod attachment (love it!). Also important to note that it comes with 2-year warranty, and from my experience Arkon guys stand behind their product to take care of you even after warranty expires.
Since I know pictures worth a thousand words, here you go for your enjoyment (with more pictures you can find in my Note 2/MG2 review above).

IGG/Crowdfunding campaign that promises to deliver next month while you can pre-order now for $70 a sticky pad with wireless charging to be used with a naked phone or thin smooth surface case and using very cheap basic suction cup base? If you would suggest as an alternative to Arkon (these guys been around for 25 years) something else reputable like iOttie or iBolt, that would be a different story. But I really fail to see how it's the best car mount

Are you Armando who reviewed it in the video?
Regarding companies and how long they been around, I didn't mean it in a way that it justifies the quality, although I can speak from a hand's on experience since I tested and compared a lot of car mounts where Arkon quality is at the top. The same way I can tell you that after reviewing hundreds of cases, UAG is at the top, or after reviewing a ton of external battery packs - nothing beats Anker. But I do have a problem with crowdfunding projects. It was "cool" back in 2012 and maybe first half of 2013. A lot of them don't live up to their promises. I trust companies that been around for awhile and actually generate sales now, rather then with promises to deliver something in the future. To stay alive in such a competitive market, you gotta be doing something right. Don't have any bad wishes for Air Dock guys, but I have a good feeling they are not going to be around for too long after they will fulfill IGG orders.
One thing I do agree, there is no universal car mount or a gadget that works the same for everybody. YMMV, and this might not be for you. So, I'm glad we have a lot of different choices. Arkon MG2 works for me after testing, reviewing, and sharing on XDA about other car mounts. Something else works better for you, and I'm glad we can have a discussion about it The sticky surface mounts never took off, remember Clingo? It was sold "as seen on TV" type of deals. I have a phone case that doesn't have a flat surface and it will not stick well to it, and I would NEVER trust my $650 phone on a sticky pad going over bumps or NJ potholes or off-road

No, I am not Armando.
Arkon didn't impress me. A car mount has to have a lot more to impress me. A car mount that just holds a phone is not enough for today's expectations.
Airdock looks great but I agree with you when it comes to crowdfunding projects. It has to be more tested with different smartphones.
Another company that I like is ProClip. I would get a car mount like this for my Note 3. (Charging cable permanently attached to holder
)

It's relatively steady as long as you tighten the mounting arm screw securely and don't have your smartphone with Zerolemon triple-capacity extended battery for additional weight, but you gotta keep in mind that your car vibration will transfer to the phone/camera. Perhaps S5 has a better camera, gotta check to see if it has anti-shake feature or something like that. With dashcam, doesn't matter which commercial car mount you use, you probably going to end up with "GoPro" effect lol!!! I wonder if they make some dash mount shock absorption beanie bags bases.
I was just asked in PM where MG279 can be purchased outside of US, since I only provided Amazon US link. Just did some digging and found it here: http://www.buybits.com/Product/1913...ash-Desk-Mount-For-Smartphones-sku-19132.aspx

How well Arkon grip the phone when it's in portrait (not sideways) mode? Would you trust it to hold your phone in a 4x4 going over sweet jumps? Or do you think the phone will eventually wiggle its way loose from the mount/clamp?
Pretty sure those microsuction cups won't hold a phone over any sweet jumps.
If you have a CD slot, this one is great.

I've been looking for one that has a built in charger for my S5, but I haven't been too happy with the ones that I have found. I wouldn't mind the outrageous price range of that proclip one Acaibowl suggested if it took advantage of the USB 3.0 capabilities of the S5, but it doesn't. The other ones I've found either don't have the USB 3.0 capabilities that I'm looking for or they all have bad reviews. Do you know of any that are worthwhile and have USB 3.0?
Edit: I also use an Otterbox case, I'm sure you know how big those get... If you know of one that matches what I'm looking for AND can accommodate an Otterbox, that would be an amazing bonus.
Thanks in advance.

Correct, but keep in mind that the headphone jack on the Note 3 is on the opposite side so if the holder comes with that cutout, it will not lineup and you will have to modify the case.

I've been working out with my OPO since I got it about a month ago. Coming from a Galaxy S3 it's definitely taken some getting used to. Pulling it out of my pocket is still less than graceful when I wanna check email or change music. Just make sure your gym pants/shorts have deep enough pockets or anytime you're on the flat bench it'll be falling out of your pocket. Haven't tried running outside with it yet, don't think that's gonna happen. Probably stick to the treadmill cause I can put it in the cupholder and just use a different music player for running outside.

Looking forward to your feedback on the armband
I f*cking detest generic armband cases. You all know what I'm talking about. The ones made of neoprene (or whatever) and have the terrible bubbly plastic that covers the screen and makes it impossible to use the touchscreen with ease.
Take matters into your own hands and make your own case. I did, and you'll be glad you did too. The case I made is comfortable, rock solid, form fitting and most importantly, the screen is 100% unobstructed.
How? I bought a Cruzerlite case (I would've gone with a Diztronic case if they had shipped sooner), a generic velcro armband and some button snap fasteners (these are rust resistant).
The whole process is drop dead simple and took less than 30 minutes to construct. A quick note: be absolutely certain that you attach the male fastener to the case and the female fastener to the armband.
Just lay the armband across the back of the case and mark an outline of the band. Next, position the fasteners where you need them and mark the holes (two should work, but I did four for stability). Next, take a small drill bit and carefully drill the holes through the tpu case. Once this is done, insert the fastener and hammer it (on a concrete surface) with the included tool. Once you have all four done, move on to the armband. All four fasteners are going to attach very close to the outer edge of the armband. Decide where you want the case to sit on the armband (I wanted it very close to where the band doubled back). Because the band is elastic, you can just simply push the fastener (use some muscle) through the fabric. Get the first one in, hammer it and move on. Base the remaining three snaps off of this one.
Once you're done with that, you're good to go. Snap the case onto the armband, slip your phone in and get your sweat on. The beauty of this case is it fits perfectly, it isn't as huge as a generic case, you have full unobstructed access to the touchscreen and best of all, you can remove the band and wash it once it starts to smell like the inside of a cast.
Also, if you're wondering about the inside of the fasteners rubbing on the back of the phone during use, I've been using this for several weeks now (about 5 days per week) and the back of the phone is still flawless. The fasteners on the case are relatively flush, plus the very nature of the tpu case allows for some flexibility (which is why I chose tpu).
This is the end product:

Wouldn't that also scratch the back of the phone up?

Good idea on the self-made armband! I would be worried that the TPU case would give and drop the phone on the concrete!

I guess i worded it badly. I guess i should have asked how exactly is it that it's not scratching it. I didn't fully read it your right, but i still guess i don't see how it couldn't scratch it. Was a quickly worded post though.

No, it's rock solid. It pops in and the lip around the edge of the tpu case keeps the phone from moving around. It's actually comforting because the phone takes a bit of work to pry out when you're done working out.
I use it for weight lifting and running and it's been amazing so far. Best workout bands I've ever had by far.

It doesn't scratch it because the 1) the underside of the fasteners are smooth and sit relatively flush, and 2) because the case is tpu, when you slide the phone in, the back of the case flexes quite a bit to accommodate the fasteners.
I've used this for about 30 different workouts and there's not a single mark or scratch on the back.

A few words on the kwmobile Sports jogging armband (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2N58YCCQNSUNR)
For me the armband is useless.. I don't run, I lift weights.. I use jefit to keep track of rest time and sets, the problem is that when the phone is in the armband, and the armband is on my arm.. the touch sensitivity is so bad that I cannot wake the phone with double tap..
I think that if I just wanted to use my phone for music while running, it would be just fine (and the product does sell as a jogging armband so I guess I only have myself to blame) but for my needs, it is useless. (mind you I have not used this for jogging so I am only guessing that it would work)
I hope this helps, if you have any questions don't hold back
Have a nice day.

So the touch sensitivity is bad, but the how does the phone fit in it? Is everything ok? And does it stick to your arm without a problem?
I ordered the same one and it shipped yesterday.
I will use it for running and biking, so the touch issue is not really a problem for me since i have music controls on my headset.

Hi
Other than the touch issues I think the thing works great.. the phone fits in it nicely and the band stays put when on my arm. I think you will be happy with it since you are using your headset for controls.
