google play will update by self you don't need to update system for it.which model u have? i meaning gsm or cdma?
for updating system you need to unroot, stock recovery for it.but i don't think wildfire s recently received any update.

no.first rom after anything else.
status 7 means your META-INF (installer script) has problem i guess.
do one thing.take any working zip(any zip which one is flashed correctly in your recovery) and copy META-INF folder it and replace it with your rom's that folder.
then flash rom.
and if you have wildfire s 2012..you have to flash that custom kernel after flashing rom.

I didn't understand plz can u b more easier plz help

yeah okay.
you have any flashable zips like any script or any kernel.
copy meta-inf file from it.
and now open your rom zip file which gives you status 7 error.
open it in winrar or winzip(dont extract it) now delete meta-inf file from it.
then copy meta-inf file from that other zip you have and paste it to rom zip which you wanted to install on phone.

I have gapps zip file Shd I try with that

i think something wrong in your rom.
because when you copy gapps meta-inf.its okay you successfully installed your rom.
but now your rom won't boot meaning something wrong in rom.if you have wildfire s 2012 model you need to flash kernel after rom.
now you can try other roms.jelly king, speed droid they are great cm10 roms and very stable.
or atlast you can restore your stock backup.

hi, i was the initial poster of the thread. The wildfire s had some system updates couple of months ago, which i have not been able to update. If your phone is rooted its good.
Now if cwm recovery isn't installed.
Go to play store nd download rom manager,
Then install clockworkmod recovery from it.
Then go to the recovery(remove battery, hold volume down+power and then select recovery)
Now take a backup of your rom(you cn see backup option)
Then if you want stock( stock meaning company rom which is made by htc, android version:2.3.5)
I made stock rom zips from latest european ruu.
Then download it.
Now put it in sdcard.
After completing backup,
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache
(Do twice this fr sure)
Then go to install from sdcard
Nd select file of rom and then it ll installed then reboot..
2.3.5 installed

And how can I get the stock recovery of version 1.29.708.15 ??
thanks for your help anyway
You don't need to relock your bootloader for ota. Im afraid I don't know where to find your stock recovery as I don't bother with ota's, I use custom roms or ruus
EDIT: if you can find your versions ruu you should be able to extract the stock recovery from it

Run the ruu BUT DONT hit next.
From explorer enter %temp% in the address bar.
Find two newly created directories
In one of them there is a file called rom.zip

Everything is inside the rom.zip file.

If you stay in stock Rom but with custom recovery and rooted you would still get the notification of an update but it would fail until you put the stock recovery back on. Some people say you don't need to unroot for the ota but from my past experience it's best to. To unroot you have to go into your system/bin or system/xbin and look for the Su file and delete it. Then uninstall the superuser app.

At this time, you can't simply flash a lower ROM version as you might have. But you can "restore" an ICS ROM though. Flashing an ICS ROM over a JB ROM would cause an error during flash progress. This is what I learned so far and I even tried it> bad result
-----------------------------EDIT on 12.11.12--------------------------
My fault. As you said, step 5-12 weren't required. I've edited the Guide an now it should fit^^ Thank you

There are several reasons why someone would do that. One of 'em is e.g. warranty claim.
Some users report about issues with the JB ROM's, for example the WiFi issue. Those people are surely grateful for any kind of help for reverting to their old familiar ICS enviroment
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be nice if someone can report if it worked for him
So let me get this straight, once I've done all this, will I be able to install the 2.17 RUU or will I still get the error that I need to use the correct updater tool?

No, you still can't use a RUU. The RUU's out there will try to flash a lower hboot version and as we all know, this is not possible unless you have s-off. There aren't RUU's for hboot 1.23 or higher. But if you do it as I described it in the first Post, there won't be any difference to a RUU flashed Device.

I'm not sure but it should be possible. I'm referring to mike1968.'s thread about the stock ROM he's providing. Its the same ROM I am referring in the HowTo. With that ROM you can receive OTA's. BUT; if you recive an update, containing a lower hboot version than at least 1.23 you might not be able to flash it.

Hello all,
I'm asking for you help about my dead (almost) HTC ONE X that I got 1 month ago...
I tried to flash a new custom ROM on it and everything went fine for rooting and stuff...
The ROM that I was supposed to flash needed a boot.img to be flashed first, which I did but I forgot to put the ZIP containing the custom ROM in my sdcard. Now, when I reboot my phone, it freezes on the HTC logo and can't go on.
I still can get it connected via adb and recovery.
I restored my backup but it doesn't change a thing to make it work.
I tried a hard factory reset
I pushed the zip file that I was supposed to flash, but when I try to flash it from recovery, it can't be found!!!
I don't know what else to do, I need help......please and thank you in andvance !
Go to recovery, mounts and storage, then mount usb storage. With your usb-cable connected you sould be able to copy over your ROM to sd-card and flash normally.

Try to mount several times. If that doesn't work you need to flash another recovery such as twrp. What version of cwm are you on?

Actually I'm using 5.8.2.7
What will it do if I flash another one ?
I'm afraid now after trying my forst flash with a broken phone

Alright stay cool, your phone isn't bricked. Download this: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img. and flash in fastboot. Go to fastboot> fastboot flash recovery [the file.img] After that try mounting again and it should work.

Thank you again, this worked.
Now that I can get to my sdcard, what file should I flash please ?
EDIT: In other ways, what ROM do you suggest me to use that's stable and fully working ?

The rom you were about to flash in the first place. The one you have already flashed the boot.img from.

I can highly recommend CM10 provided that you can live without sense. Really smooth and fully functional.
And remember to flash the boot.img from CM10 if you decide to install it.

I can't find this ROM that you're talking about knowing that I'm stil in newbe in this domain
I found a ROM called skydragon, that I'm going to try.
Is it alright with my fastboot version and the recovery one that I try this ROM or others ?

I've never tried skydragon ROM and still think you should flash CyanogenMod 10. It is totally safe for everyday use. You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696
And one more thing: flashing skydragon requires updating hboot which might be too tricky and has its own disadvantages so not recommending that.

I'm not quite sure. Please try to get some rom to the phone and after using that you can try new roms and find the one that suits you best. I'm going to bed now so try to manage on your own.

Some roms are more minimal with just the basic apps, whereas some are nearer to the official HTC roms, with Sense etc.
Make sure that you have the correct firmware HBoot for any particular rom. By the sounds of it, you can't currently install the JellyBean custom roms (bar CM10) with the Hboot you have.

Let's work from there

My hboot version is 1.12.0000
I suggest the maximus v.10.0...for me is the best sense-based rom for this phone...I've no problem with it!

CWM, not CM

Start your phone
then press your power off button for 2 seconds
choose restart
then choose recovery
your phone will boot to recovery
go to backup and restore
choose backup

restart your phone
Oh sorry about that.
