[Q] How to activate PIE CONTROL ? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hy everyone,
I Just flashed the New CarbonRom for my GNex and in the screenshots, PIE is available but i don't seem to find how to activate it.
PS : when i'm on expended desktop, Pie controls are not available so it might be a toggle issue and if so, i don't know where to toggle it on.
Many thanks !

I'm not sure about your ROM but on the PA ROM you have to enable it in settings then and only then when you enter the expanded desktop mode can you use the PIE controls.

I dunno about that ROM, but I know you can get PIE on any ROM via LMT Launcher. It's not a full launcher, you still use Nova or whatever else people use, it just adds PIE. I'm using LMT with expanded desktop enabled on CM10.1M1 for my soft keys, and SmartStatusbar+ and NotifierPro Plus for the notification bar.

LMT is good too
Yeah I know about LMT but it's an extra App. I think this rom has the pie controls already like posted in their thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136851) but can't find the Toggle
If you find something, let me know and until then Many thanks !

Hot Toggle navbar with gestures!!

I have been pursuing a solution for the navbar taking up precious screen space, maybe finding a way to hot toggle it somehow, now I found a solution!!
In the latest Xenon HD rom, there is a command(activity) within the system UI that hides/shows the navbar instantly. Using LMT, I mapped the "double swipe up" gesture to that activity with the system ui, and voilla!! Now wherever I am I can just swipe with 2 fingers up and it will either show/hide the navbar, this is very convenient especially if you dont like to go to the power menu every time you want to hide or show the navbar.

I been doing this with PA (expand deaktop) and using LMT for a few months now. LMT is great.
Or paranoid android extended desktop works great

Hide soft keys like Huawei Ascend Mate

I have cm10 with expanded desktop but I'm wondering if anyone has done a mod where a gesture will toggle the visibility of the soft keys. It's exactly what I, along with a ton of other people, are looking for. Hell, I'll pay someone to do it for us!!

What I think would be nice is if we could just get rid of the navbar and replace it with a gesture from the bottom edge to reveal the ring in my screenshot, except the nav controls will be on that ring
AFAIK GMD gesture control supports this. Not quite sure. Just try the lite version first.

Few options are out there already.
GMD - You can set various swipes such as 45* up/left for back, up for home, etc, activated at the bottom.
App that I forget the name of but enables pie control in any app. You can set multiple layers as well as an inner and outer pie ring, but this can get a bit clustered. Realistically you can probably set all of your most used apps into the pie on various layers though and get rid of every shortcut.
Latest PA has a more feature rich but less customized pie. Battery bar, time, notifications, access notification panel, per-app color of pie, and more. However, unlike the app above you cannot add additional items into the pie, at least not yet.

LMT with PIE Control is IMHO the Name of the app. In the last version it includes also the swipe from the bottom like in Para...Rom (don't know the name of the rom right now). But it's not the same. A simple swipe from the bottom and it should show the orig. softkeys. That would be soooooo cool! I would never ever switch back and set the expanded desktop active
I have GMD installed and I was not able to hide only the soft keys.
The only option I found hides the soft keys AND the notification bar on the top of the phone, so valuable info like battery, signal strength etc are also hidden.
Any ideas to hide only the soft keys?

Not totally gesture but u must take a look at paranoid android PIE control. It's still in beta but it has a lot of potential.
I think u would like it.... Here are some examples...

Exactly what I was looking for
But how stable is paranoid android compared to CM10
My main issue is I haven't found a good way of hiding the softkeys. GMD closes the whole SystemUI so lose the top bar and app switcher, and the Fullscreen Toggle that a lot of people use removes the in-app menu button which is not ideal as I don't really want to have a gesture just to access the basic menu.
Is there a good way of doing this that I've missed?

I'm running it from day 1 (got my N4 since half December) and it's perfectly stable. I always wait a little while before updating and follow the tread to be sure there are no great bugs. If everything's ok then I'll update to a newer version. The PIE option is really Beta so there will be some bugs.
I think u just must try it, paranoid android is really a original and renewing ROM. Not just because the pie, but also the hybrid, per app color and dpi option.
It's just as stable, if not more stable then cm10.1 The rom is based on AOSP so should be as stable as the original one.

The only annoying thing is that they took out the notification bar to use PIE.

That's because it's trigged by the expanded desktop.....
Remember it's a beta. Development is going very fast and I'm sure they will find a great solution for that.
Check his latest YouTube update and see the difference with earlier releases.....

Paranoid Android ROM has a new mod called "pie". Its exactly what you're looking for. You can use an app called Smart statusbar and it works beautifully with PIE.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I downloaded GMD pro and so far it's pretty cool. That PIE mod looks amazing. Any way someone can rip it and make it work with any ROM? If not, I might have to bite the bullet and just flash the ROM.

another option might be the Hide Bottom Bar app from the play store.

Make shift paranoid android

I really like the idea of some of the features from paranoid android. halo, pie, and extended desktop are the 3 features I wanted to use most on a daily bases. The problem for myself was that on the ports gps didn't work neither did wifi AP or samsungs smart dock which i use daily, not only that but Samsungs rom and kernel are more programmed for the phone itself as apposed to an aosp rom(which means better performance or so i'm told). So what i have done is used a few apps to replicate the features I want from paranoid android on my Touchwiz rom(cleanrom 4.7).
1. halo: To get this feature I used an app called floating notifications. It's not as feature rich as halo but it can display the text of my notifications like sms and gmail and I can click on them to open the app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263987&nocache=1&z=4138043767306953
2. Pie: I used lmt launcher, I assume most people are familiure with it by now. If not check out the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
3. extended desktop: This one is a little tricky, i used hide bar by good mood droid (GMD). This doesn't just hide the bar it shutdowns that process making it unusable. Plus resents must be tied into that process because I can't use that either. To help not being able to access the toggles and other info in my notification shade I used an app called glovebox, which is a side bar app. I put some widgets in it for weather and toggles for easy access. Losing the ability to use resents isn't that bad I can deal with it but I use next and previous app in lmt launcher to help
get around.

So what does everyone think?
*I would like to thank all of the developers of these various apps. The flexibility of android is what makes it great.
I dunno about #2 but the first couple would be best solved with a new rom. Flash clean rom 4.9

Floating notifications is nothing like halo unless they have a hidden option to open the entire app in a pop up then floating notifications shouldnt be there

Right I know that, It won't display the app but my notifications that normally show up in my notification shade show up in the app floating notifications.

[Q] How to open App drawer with PIE

I flashed beanstalk on my rogers note 2, and I'm loving it. But I basically want to replace the dock with the "Pie" feature. The only issue I am having is figuring out how to launch the app drawer (where you choose what app you want to open) from Pie itself. I know I can just make a shortcut on the home screen, but it seems I can launch anything from Pie except for the app drawer. Any help would be appreciated. Couldn't find an answer anywhere, so I'm asking here. Thank for the help
What launcher are you using? I can set it using Nova Launcher.
Really? I am using Nova and have not found any options to do with the pie feature
Go into the Nova settings and chose gestures and buttons and set home button to app drawr. Then you can just do the same pi gesture you used to get home to open the drawer
That worked, I can't believe I couldn't figure that out and it was that easy -_- thanks man appreciate the help

[Q] [Paranoid Android] - Pie Control settings

So i recently instaled PA on my Nexus 7 and so far it's been ok, I like the ROM but the main reason I installed it was for the Pie control / Immersive Mode without having to install a module for it bt still being able to use the THEME engine from CM11 (my fav rom)
that being said, I've been trying to find the settings for the pie control so I can make the clock and info show up quicker, is there a menu for it ? was I just not able to find it ?
Sorry, but there's no such thing.
I wish I could stop using PIE and start using KitKat controls again instead.

Yes, the NavBar. But the semi-transparent one, not the gradient one. The one you can use while using Immersive mode.

TAP the little square on top of the immersive mode button, it'll switch to another button that can give you options for what you wanna do
