Help. STOCK ROM CWM flashable - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hi. It's possible to make a STOCK ROM flashable ?
For example S5660XXKTI to be flashable
Thanx in advance!

Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127181
Sent from my Galaxy Gio

sure its possible. just download the package, and download a stock based custom rom as well.
first extract the rom.tar.md5
then extract system.rfs with magiciso and you get a system folder.
delete the system folder from the custom rom and add the other one you just extracted. then zip and flash it

Change .exe to .zip

Is it possible for me to change a, . Exe file to a, . Zip file?
Generally, no. But I know 7zip ( http://www.7-zip.org/ )can extract the contents of many executables as if they were a zip. What is this for?
Generally no. But what do you need to do and I might try and help

It's probably not too wise to flash an .exe file to your phone. That's a windows executable file and this is Android.

Hey kingtnutt,
What are you trying to do with the .exe file? Do you need to extract it to pull files from it? More details would help.
If the .exe is a "self-extractor" it would probably work to change the extension to .zip and then extract it. It may not, though.

Ok, sounds like you have a self extractor. Follow the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835033
Sounds like you're trying to install a One-click update.
There are instructions for installing via Mobile Odin here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229
See the 'Android Section'
sfhub and rwilco12 have done a bang up job of putting up detailed install instructions.
Take some time and really read throught the posts, watch Qbking77's videos and then re-read the posts AND follow ups. Or you could end up with a shiny fishing lure.
Why not use PC Odin? Especially if you're just starting out. Might save you loads of trouble.
Good luck

Unfortunately those one-clicks are compiled in such a way that they can't be extracted. You have two options to flash it, Odin or Mobile Odin.
Out of curiosity, why would you want to convert it to a ZIP?

K. The good news is that these one-clicks make flashing with a ZIP look almost impossible. You seriously plug your phone in and press the start button in the one-click and you're done (that's over-simplifying but you get the idea). Check out the instructions in the OP and it walks you right through it.
If you still want to use a zip Crawrj has the fh23 rom here

Extract it from the RUU
1) Run RUU
2) If you're running windows 7, type %TEMP% on the windows explorer
3) Look for a very long name of a folder (Don't remember) and look for rom.zip
4) Open the archive using 7zip (Best one, other than that might have problems)
5) look for signed_boot.img
6) Extract it and flash it as usual
Hope it helps ^^
Thanks will try. Btw I'm on Windows 8

hi guys,
do I understand correctly; all I need is that tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706070
but still 2 questions:
1. how to tell once for all, do I have GSM or CDMA phone? That "sim card" part means, do I work (flash, root etc) with card still inside?
2. what about stock kernel? Do I still need to look for one, or everything is inside that ROM package?
Thanks in advance!
Nobody guys?

When I download this file from the Omega kitchen, the zip has nothing in it except the META-INF folder. Did the the one you guys downloaded have all the proper image files in it? If so, then care to share please???

No I didn't, simply because inside the zip there is only the META-INF folder and nothing else. Am I missing something here? Does your zip only have that too, or another folder in there as well?

Yes I have the same problem , I just want to bootanimation.zip file that you can put to the folder (system/media/) manually with root explorer not the CWM zip .

I don't think you're quite getting me. That zip file that you downloaded has no boot animation in it. It is essentially an empty zip file. So if you flash it via CWM nothing will happen.

[Q] Creating a ROM (Ubuntu)

Hi, I'm a newb/noob at this forum :victory: and I am attempting to create a ROM for the first time although when I followed this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249223
There is only a guide for Windows, I installed the Kitchen in Ubunu after striving for a few hours and I'm wondering if there's a guide for Ubuntu?
Also, when I tried following the Windows guide, I downloaded the endeavoru voda-hutch shipped ROM to start off with, although the system file isn't 4EXT where in the guide it says that it should be 4EXT. I don't know if that is going to be a problem throughout the process.
Thank a lot in advance for any help, I appreciate it heaps.
Salim
Hi mate creating a Rom with ubuntu is pretty easy for the kitchen just extract the kitchen to your hone folder and rename to kitchen, then open terminal type CD kitchen press enter then ./menu. Secondly if your using a nandroid all you need is the boot.img and system ext.tar.
Hi, thanks for your reply! I'm using a shipped ROM so when I do ./menu and choose the files, the system file isn't ext for some reason.
Thanks
