[Q] Is my phone dead - HTC One V

Great... I was checking weather from my One V, and the phone froze and screen went off when I pressed power button to try lock it. Now when trying to boot to bootloader, I get all time "error: device offline"
What is wrong.. Since it is unlocked and custom ROM, warranty will probably not help me?
It cannot be fully dead, as ADB still detects it, although it doesn't work and in device manager it shows up as "My HTC"
E: Awesome.... I removed SD card and SIM card and that cover, now tried press power button and, oh, lockscreen shows up and my phone is working again fine! Don't know why it did not work for while.
Case closed

How about force reboot - long press power for 5-7 seconds ?
Or force to bootloader - long press power for 5-7 seconds while holding the volume down and release the power button after 5-7 seconds but keep holding the volume down button ?
Also you can try the cable on other port if it helps

If you already didn't saw, the problem just went away. I pressed power button, and well, lockscreen appeared. I do not know why did my phone did this, but it works fine now. (Using your mySENSE-v RC3.0, great ROM! =) )

Bell I9000M three button issue.. give it a try

Hi,
Like some other members here, i also have three button issue with my phone. I have tried so many ways and results were inconsistent, it would work some time and will not work other time. But here is a procedure that is working for me always. Give it a try and see if it works for some of you.
1. Turn off the phone
2. Plug in charger (It does not matter even the charger was plugged in when u tuned off the phone.)
3. Wait for battery signal to appear the one with partial green fill.
4. At this point press home volume up and power button in sequence.
5. you will see SGS screen. Keep all the button presses at that time.
6. After some time battery icon will appear. this time it will be gray one with no green fill.
7. keep all button pressed. gray battery icon will disappear and will appear second time.
8. Wait for 1-2 second and before second time grey battery icon disappear release power button and keep home and battery button pressed.
9. wait for some good luck.. you should see recovery screen.
And it could be just me. but it works for me all the time.
Thanks
that is because your phone is not defective
your phone did not have the 3 button mode disabled
No I have thee button issue. I would not work other wise.
I tried this, Volume Up + Home + Power got me to a "Forced Upload by Key pressing" screen, but no recovery. Vol Down + Home + Power just kept looping me back to the battery with no SGS screen
This is from a UK model i9000 with 3 button disabled.

Did U follow the exact sequence with charger plugged in ...
Then it may be just for I9000m Model... or just my phone..
It worked for me.. so i wanted to share it.. in case it helps other..
That's not gonna help you if you flash a ROM in way that your phone wont boot to even the battery screen. I've done it, luckily my SGS is not locked out.

So I release the power button and then... hold the power button? I'm confused.
Even if I wait the few seconds and release power, volume up, or any combination of buttons it just pops me back to the battery screen. No access to recovery.

So u released the power button when second time battery icon appear ?? make sure you release power button before the battery icon disappear second time..
If no luck.. the only thing I can conclude is that Samsung has no consistency in hardware design...

If you can get into download mode, you don't have any kind of 3 button issue. Your phone is fine, you just need to work on your timing in order to get into recovery mode.
There is nothing wrong with your phone.

[Q] Volume up + Volume down

Hey lads,
this is probably a very dumb Q, but since I am new to all this android schmuzzle and couldn't find ballocks on that, don't judge me too hard ;]
I've noticed that when u press both VolUp and VolDown ( put pressure kinda in the middle or the rocker ) the phone vibrates once and then after several seconds (seems to vary) it vibrates three times fast. Now what the flick is that? Not that much of a big deal but it gets annoying given that even when the screen is off and the phone is locked doesn't seem to give a damn
thanks
has happened to me too but hard to reproduce. I have no ideas why it happens. Sometimes it occurs when the phone is booting up for me as well.
Put ur finger in the middle of the rocker and press ( not even hard ). It happens every time in my case. even when the phone is locked
I get the same behaviour, sure is strange.
Kinda old thread but I didn't want to start a new one either. I've noticed this too by accident. When you turn off your screen and press both volume buttons at the same time it vibrates once and every other time twice or thrice. If it vibrates only once it will vibrate again a couple of times after about 10 seconds. Has someone found a reason to this already?

These buttons are part of combimation of three finger salute (at least look like that)...if you press voulme up + Down and power button, phone will reboot....so might be vibration is just an indicator to show go ahead and press the power button for restart.......Just a Guess
Pressing Volume Up + Down simultaneously while having USB Debugging turned on creates a bug report in the bugreports folder on your SD card.

This is correct, there's always a new bugreport after I press the volume buttons. I don't think that it's even necessary to have usb debugging on.
Thanks for the quick answers, but could there be something more to it?

It shouldn't be, but its really hard to get it if you are trying to press three button, you can try power button and middle vol button......any ways I also tried lot of times before I got my first reboot....
1) Pressing both VOL UP & VOL DOWN at the same time = Vibrations & all processes' states and stacktraces dumped to /data/arn/traces.txt (thanks to alind_)
2) Pressing both VOL UP & VOL DOWN at the same time + POWER BUTTON once = instant reboot
Works for me with CM7 and Stock Sense.

[Help] Phone wont turn on after low battery

I have been using my LG Optimus G for about 6 months now and everything was working fine, untill yesterday.
My phone ran out of battery and i left it over night to recharge. In the morning when i tried to turn it on
the screen just stayed black and it wouldnt start. The only thing i can get out of it is when its plugged in
and i hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds the led light shines red for about 7 seconds.
Other than that i cant do anything with it, cant even get the lg logo or the vibration from the boot.
Tried a hard reset-didnt work
Ive looked a little bit online but i couldnt find any problems like this and i really dont want to buy a anew phone
since ill have to save up for like 6 months
Please help
Thank you in advance
PS: Sucks to have this as my first post
Had also that problem. For me it helped to press the power button as long as it takes untill phone goes on even if it takes some minutes. But if it not help, try to boot in bootloader(volume up+power+home). In Bootloader mode press 2times volume down and power button to get to your recovery. If getting succesfully to recovery make a full wipe and install your rom.

Held the power for 2 min and no effect. And for the second point, what do you mean by Vol up+ Power+Home, because my phone doesent have a physical home button.
Press volume up+ home+ power (all together). Home button which you usualy use all the time, yes that button in the mid, i know its not really pressing so hold your finger on it. After that you will come to the Bootloder mode, in there you should press 2x volume down and then power, this will bring you to your recovery.

Wont work . This looks more like a hardware malfunction.
It seems the battery is not charging. If your phone is not modified in anyway, send it to warranty. If you're rooted and have a custom rom,go to a gsm service,at least to make it turn on. If they do that, flash stock and up to warranty with it.

I had the same problem after I did a dirty flash of a new ROM. Phone went black and didn't want to reboot anymore. What I did was to connect the phone via USB with the PC first. Then I tried combination of holding the power button for 20 sec. After that holding the Volume up key first then pressing together with the Power button and also hold it for 10-15 sec. After cycling that for 2-3 times finally my phone rebooted. I have no clue why but after that I was able to jump back into recovery and reflashed the ROM with full-wipe. Then everything was ok.
unplug phone, vol up and power for 11 seconds, let go of both, vol down and power to enter boot loader, then choose reboot. Must be unplugged for this

Yes. Version 2.7.1.0.
My phone went black and wouldn't do anything after I clean flashed a rom. I just left it alone once I established it wouldn't do anything and it came back on its own after a while. I was using twrp 2.7.1.0 also. I have switched to Phil's touch recovery to see if it happens next time I flash a rom.

can not access recovery on htc one m8

What I basically need: I want to access recovery(or bootloader, I am not sure what its really called) to do a factory reset.
History of the problem: My little sister entered the pattern incorrectly too many times and now the phone is locked asking for gmail and password. Although I know it, but the phones wifi is disabled, so it says "wrong username or password" and hence I can not unlock it. I want to do a factory reset via the recovery but the phone is not going into it even though I press volume down + power(I also tried the volume up). USB debugging is off, and the device is not rooted... please help me, how can I get around this damn problem?

Power+vol down doesn't do anything (will not get you to bootloader) if the phone is on. This only works when the phone is powered off.
If power+vol up didn't go anything, it's probably because you didn't hold the buttons long enough. Hold power+vol up (and don't let go) until the screen goes dark (may take more than a minute in some conditions) meaning it is going to reboot. The moment the screen goes dark, let go of those buttons and only hold vol down. Don't let go, until the white bootloader screen appears. If you fail to get into bootloader (the phone just reboots, tried to go to OS) that means you didn't do the button combo correctly. Either you started pressing vol down too late, or let go too early. Just repeat the sequence until you get it right.
Thank you for replying

What doesn't work? I outlined a few steps. Need more details. The basic reboot sequence (holding power+vol up) does it reboot the phone or not?
This is hard coded into the device. It works in any condition short of a brick. It even works when the phone is powered off. The only time I've seen it fail is if your vol button or power button is broken.
ok, here is how it goes;
I turn the phone off
I press the voldown + power, the phone turns on, I release none of them, everything goes very normally, when the phone is at the lock screen, there is a messege on the display saying "to restart the phone, continue holding the power button for 3 seconds" and it counts down to 2 and then 1, it stops at 1, everything else is normal(except the home and back buttons have been flashing-turning on and off-since the start of the process). now I continue on holding both buttons until the phone autolocks, and here it goes to eternity, nothing happens form here just flashing home and back buttons..
I did the same process for volup+power. I did several times, each taking more than one minute..
and all my buttons are working, I can assure you of that..

when the phone is on at the lock screen, I have to swipe up, which takes me to a screen asking me for google username and password, and when I press the power button there, it displays the cummon box with 4 options; turn off, restart, airplane mode, and kid mode.
if I press the power button before swiping up, it displays the messege "To restart, continue holding the power button for 3 seconds" it counts down and stops at 1, just as I described before

Try picking restart. Then once the screen goes black, start holding (only) vol down. See if that gets you into bootloader.

lol. Your gratitude is enough.
Strange, I wonder why it didn't work when forcing a restart with button combo (power+ vol up). I don't think I've seen that issue you described, where the capacitive buttons are flashing.
Essentially, any time the phone reboots, if you hold vol down, it should go into bootloader. Or in the fully powered off condition, hold the vol down, and press and release power button (don't release vol down).
yeah, I read a tone about it and nothing worked. It seems my Htc is special
