[Q] Why isn't my PC recognizing my phone and vice versa - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have a tmo samsung galaxy note 2, that i purchased in December. I have not rooted the phone, thus stock ROM and all. The phone is up to date with the latest updates from tmobile. just two days ago, i tried to pass some photos from my phone to the PC via USB Cable. i connect the phone to my pc and it only goes to charge the phone, no connection notifications on neither the phone side nor the PC (Windows 7 home premium 64-bit). so i went to samsung for support, and got the run around of re-install the USB drivers, re-install Kies software, etc. after the un-installs i reset the PC, and after the re-installs, i reset the PC but nothing changed. also i soft reset the phone (turn it off, take out battery for 30 seconds, then turn it on), and still nothing. i have tried all different USB ports on my PC, have used different USB cables (my brother also has the GN2 so i tried with his USB cable). tried again on my mom's laptop, brother's PC, and i get no response at all from the PC's nor my GN2. could something inside have become damaged, i mean i take care of it like it was a baby, but maybe...???
on a side note, i used windows media player to transfer music the last time i was able to transfer, but the playlists showed up in both ext and int storage, so i deleted the int storage playlist files. could there be a problem stemming from WMPInfo.xml in the both the int/ext storage card?
if i'm missing any info to help with the problem, just ask. i'd like to get this resolved asap, since transferring over Kies Air is a hassle and sometimes doesn't respond properly, since i use my phone as my main camera and like to back up all my pics/vids on to an ext HDD.

After you plug the usb in to the phone and pc are you putting the phone in storage card mode? The phone will ask you.

it doesn't ask anything. the phone isnt recognizing that its been connected to a PC. it only goes to charge the phone, nothing else happens... :/

Bad usb port, try a different one, also another basic USB fix (with other devices) is to actually unplug the CPU/laptop from its power source for like 5 minutes... have you factory reset your phone? Not really sure but this problem sounds familiar with another I heard a while ago, not exactly sure what the end result was

After re reading, if it's not ports, drivers, or bad flashing, and assuming you have made sure all your files are in order (mention of removing double files?), then Id say it's some sort of internal configuration with the settings of your cpu to your particular phone. Either some program is taking over how your cpu reads the device when plugged in, therefore causing your phone to behave the way it is, or usb ports need some inspecting. I wonder if its just MTP that is "under control" (maybe qualcomm usb "troubleshooting" could confirm this, of course Odin could too, perhaps)

i thought at first it was Kaspersky Internet Security, but if that had been the case, it would've blocked my phone from connecting from day one. could it have something to do with the ext storage card (going out on a limb here)? i ahve contacted tmobile directly, to see what they say, but i'm trying everything, even have disabled my KIS, restarted my PC and still nothing. i'll try the troubleshooting your talking about. hopefully that sets everything straight. the wierdest part is that now Kies Air is picking up my phone and all, it just isnt working over USB cable ...

also, i haven't factory reset my phone. saving that as a last resort option if all else fails. quick note, this problem seems to have presented itself after the latest Kies update. but wouldn't explain why its not responding after re-install.

Guys, I hope the following helps you.
When you plug the Note to the PC USB cable-computer, you will see the USB icon on notification bar as charging.
Pull down the notification bar with your finger and tap on the charging USB notification.
Change the setting to the Camera and then unplug the phone from USB and plug it back again.
That should work. Look in the computer for devises and you will see the camera icon on your PC and also your C drive
and other devices.
Click it and the card/phone storage part will show up.
If it does not, re start PC and plug un plug the cable.
Work for me every time.
I too run Windows 8 Pro and that is how I do it.

the problem is that the USB icon never appears on the notification bar, nor is it anywhere to be found when i pull down the notification bar. something is interfering with the phone recognizing connection to a PC's USB port...I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium x64
still haven't figured out what the problem might be. definitely going to T-Mobile store tomorrow...

Did you try another cable? Another PC?

If your brothers phone plugs in and is read perfectly fine on your PC then it's something with your phone... probably fixable with a reflash of stock.
It seems to me that your device is having an issue with MTP connectiviry (as your phones USB still charges when plugged in) and like I said, if you download the proper Qualcomm drivers for the GNII onto your pc, and use your phones dialer to adjust qualcomm usb settings (for example let's say) to enable QPST connectivity, then you could confirm its just MTP that is malfunctioning... if it's just MTP then as a troubleshooting guide, you could start disabling/reset settings to default/reinstalling apps on your phone or programs on your pc that are directly related to your phone being connected to your PC through USB (Kies, Windows Media, any other 3rd party apps or programs you may use, etc)
Eventually when disabling one of these apps you should get MTP working again (and at least then you have found the culprit-rogue app/program)
If it's not the PC (ie you still can't get connection to work when plugging into a different PC, and have troubleshot all your phones apps) then might be time to file a warranty claim

And to answer your question, yes... As a "basic" troubleshooting option, one should always try to use different SD cards in their phone to see if there is any difference!! Considering your brother has a GNII, I'd say not only do you have all the resources needed to find any problem any your phone ever has, but the resources are there to fix them as well

i will definitely take this advice and try it out in the morning. hopefully this helps. otherwise its off to the T-Mobile store.
on a side note, i read recently somewhere that the issue i'm having may be presented while using a USB 3.0 port. Even though i do not have a USB 3.0 port, i recently purchased an external HDD which runs on USB 3.0/2.0 (compatible). could it be possible that such a configuration might have caused the issue (again going out on a far reaching limb)...??

Maybe if your hdd tried to auto load something onto your phone upon plug in... considering your stock, I don't see how this issue is even happening... outside of some app/program settings or some type of "hung" connection, the basic steps you have already covered with drivers/ports etc, should have nixed the problem

okay, so weirdest thing ever. I took my phone into T-Mobile store, where they connected it to their PC and boom, it picked up without a hitch. So they gave me a new wire, and when i got home the problem was solved. the GN2 is now back in order, responding as it should. thank you everyone for your input.

I have having the same issue with a Galaxy Note II Verzion SCH-i605v and its pissing me off LOL. The computer picked it up at one point as gadget serial and installed the Samsung drivers but after that it the computer will not pick up the phone. The phone won't even be picked up on my roommates laptop. I am like please tell me what too do here?!?
also I can get the computer to pick it up in Odin mode which is so flipping werid lol any suggestions would be greatly as I would love to use this phone. I am currently using it with a cricket sim card. only getting 3G and HSPA+ at times. NO LTE or 4G. I'm trying to fix that problem but can't try unless the computer will pick up the phone.

[Q] Windows 7 Doesn't Recognize my Continuum...

So I'm attempting to root the Continuum, but for some reason the phone won't effectively connect to Windows 7. For example, when I hook the phone up to my Samsung i7 laptop, all the phone does is charge. It doesn't even ask me if I would like to use usb storage or anything. The computer also doesn't recognize the device. Any ideas? Thanks!
A couple questions first:
- Did you install the Continuum drivers?
- Does your phone bring up the USB connection in the status bar?
- Does it bring up the Verizon VCast website on connection?

1. I likely did not install the Continuum drivers, and I have no clue where to get them. I'm assuming Samsung's website, but it's a bit hard to figure out and navigate...
2. My phone does not bring up the USB connection in the status bar.
3. When I go to the browser, it brings up the Verizon website with news, etc.
It should probably be stated as well that this phone is not activated. I am using it on wifi only for the time being because I traded it with a friend for another phone.
Alright, so I've figured it out. Strangely enough, I was just using a generic USB to microUSB cable, and I actually needed to use a Samsung cable. Weird, right?

So...now that I'm rooted, how in the world do I install a custom rom? I saw that there's a ClockworkMod Recovery out, but what does "Odin" mean? I'm coming from an LG Optimus V and have extensive experience rooting and installing custom roms and recoveries, but I've never heard of that before. Thanks again!
First, we dont have much for custom roms on this phone. The couple we do have contain fairly well written "how-to's" for them.
Second, if you are not sure, do some research and find out as many answers with the vast pool of knowlendge at your fingertips (the interwebs) as you can. There has already been a swarm of questions asked, and I am sure the answers may already be there for you.
I am waiting for the update and Froyo roms to come out before I bother with custom roms, but I am not holding my breath for that. I will probably be on my next Android phone before I will bother. Modding it up with Widgetlocker, ADW Launcher, and some other goodies at the moment to tide me over.
I had this same problem today. USB mass storage wasn't working, adb wasn't working. I wasn't using the samsung cable, but I can't see how that would make a difference, as the cable I was using has worked for literally a couple dozen different phones from different manufacturers - including other samsungs. I had the samsung drivers installed.
The owner claims that only media sync works on his computer as well, and that usb mass storage has never worked. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
i am also getting this problem. as far as i know i am still using the samsung cable, as normal micro-usb cables dont fit in the continuums port. ill look for another one, but this is quite odd. what i have done (all windows 7 64 bit):
drivers uninstalled
drivers installed
lagfix on
lag fix off
factory reset (within adrenalyne's rom)
i am going to try to transfer the stock rom via bluetooth and see if that works
edit: turns out that isnt possible without odi recognizing the device, which it doesnt (not even in download mode). this is very peculiar
some more information: nothing even shows up in device manager. no unknown devices, nothing. the phone charges, but thats it. i might go to the verizon store and see if i can get another cable
My guess is because you are using a 64 bit version of windows..

Why would that matter at all?
The 64bit version of Windows 7 is notorious for not being compatible with a lot of devices. There just arent any 64bit drivers. If you dont understand how to run your software in the proper compatibility mode you will run into problems. I used the x64 version of Win7 for about 12 seconds after I realized my ancient usb optical mouse didnt work lol.
My advice, try running the Samsung driver installer in compatibility mode and see if that doesnt help.

Compatibility mode won't do anything in the case of drivers. I'm not sure what your issue is though as all of my Samsung phones have been picked up fine from within Windows 7 x64. Is the phone picked up on any non-Windows 7 computer? Have you checked in Device Manager to see if it just needs installed?
its the cable. i took mine to the verizon store, they tested it, and gave me a new one for free. works perfectly now
Excellent, problem solved!
So it turns out a factory reset fixed it. Using a moto cable. So that's definitely not the issue. Flashing froyo now. Thanks!
I have encountered that a few times also. Its weird cuz when I plugged the usb into ac charger it almost immediately asks if I want to mount sd for data transfer. 20 mins later I unplug usb from unit and plugit into my win7 pc and nothin? So plugged back into ac unit and it recognize....so I mounted and it didn't know what to do lol. I then plugged back intopc...waited...changed orientation and 'Boom' pc sees it...in fact I change orientation whenever it seems to hang and seems to work....
sent from my XDA phone - its more than a continuum
I should also note that I have never used a samsung cable and every usb micro I've used (moto, kodak,BB,Lg) has fit and worked. But I have noticed some usb related quirks since froyo update like no lock screen after charging till I push home button, inaccurate batt icon (goes from 3/4 to 1/4 in like 10 mins but overall batt life is same as before)...
On an unrelated note I also can't get v6supercharger to work...?

I did actually, and Kies couldn't see the phone.
Also, the phone did not see a USB connection, though it was charging
per the documentation I tried to mount as mass storage device through Wireless and Networking. This didn't do anything either, phone still charges.
I had borrowed the USB cable from a co-worker, I had him plug it in to his phone, and it works just fine, just XP machine sees his phone.
Turns out, its something with the cable.
rummaging around for another cable, I noticed I had my XOOM and its cord with me. Its the same type, but its the Moto brand one (if that makes it any different?)
plugged it in instead just for ****s and giggles. It works.
Phone just doesn't like his cable for whatever reason.
Now Win7 sees the phone, and Kies sees it (doesn't like the debugging mode but whatever)
His cable was an LG branded one. Any one know if there's something different?
I've tested 2 LG branded usb cables and they do not work. Same thing you described.
I found it in pull it out half way the phone recognizes USB and the computer sees the phone but if I try to transfer files I get a "device disconnected" error... Or something like that. I can see the files, just can't touch 'em.
I could not believe that the cable is have been using on tons of devices for years wouldn't work only on this one. I'd sooner believe it was the computer. So I grabbed a coworkers much newer LG branded cable and same thing... I still didn't believe it after testing 2 cables on 3 computers... Though I had a hunch from the first second I plugged it in I still can't believe it... And then I read this.
Explanation please, lol.

Have you considered getting your USB adapter/port checked for issues? It could be possible that the adapter no longer has the ability to send data, but only charges the E4GT when connected; try using another USB port on your computer.

Tried all ports --- updated all drivers... even formatted my computer... its definitely the phone.
I have three computers here and none of them are working with it --- and the weirdest thing that I just noticed === it seems like its just showing the charging animation... I left it plugged into my computer when it was supposedly charging, screen turned off, check back in 20 minutes and it had gone down by 20% --- it's just like its triggering the charging animation
If your phone will charge but won't transfer data, there is a strong possibility it is actually a problem with the cable. I tested 3 LG micro-usb cables which all worked fine with an LG phone, but would not transfer data with the Epic 4G Touch. The would only charge. I thought my USB port was busted at first also because I tried 3 different cables and this is the first time I've encountered a situation where micro-usb cables were not universal.

Thats strange because that is all I've used were LG cables... they have worked fine for me since day one?

Are you connecting via MTP or PTP?
I had issues with PTP.It kept disconnecting during transfer.
Try uploading into the image folder.

tried both, just trying my laptop now see if that is any better
does it on my laptop as well. however i was able at first to copy over 45meg before it bombed out...
I had the same thing with my Xoom which appears in the same way, seemed a bit better if I kept the device "alive" so it didn't turn the screen off etc. However I never got to the bottom of it.

Before that, have you tried these:
Can you try it on another PC?
Are you using the USB cable that came with the Nexus?
Is USB debug unchecked in settings? (I assume ICS has the same setting)
I don't have the same issue with my Xoom on another PC, so it may be a driver/power issue.
---------- Post added at 05:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:40 PM ----------
Also, are you connecting it to a USB hub? If so, try a USB port directly on the PC (or a different USB port)

tired 2 pc's both i7 win7 64bit. tried with and without debugging. using proper cable. when i reboot my pc and phone i can copy a limited amount of data over like 2 or 3 albums and then it will come up with not responding or crash out.
not sure what else to suggest. Maybe try unplugging other USB devices in case it's a power issue. Are there any Samsung drivers for the Nexus?

i wonder is it because i have had kies installed prior?
I wouldn't return it, it's a software problem I've had before so what I did is using dropbox and connect the phone to my wireless network so files transfer faster.
here is a video of my issue if you have a spare 60 seconds
http://youtu.be/siyIFZzZe1Q
After less than 24 hours with my GN im having the same issues
All worked great for 1st few hours of loading picstures and small ringtones and notification sounds on the device.
Then it just started to refuse to take some small jpgs and just locks up on the transfer box :/
Using the supplied usb cable
on both usb transfer modes
with debugging on or off
its very hit and miss as i managed to get a 1.2gb mkv on there fine, also a 350mb avi file.
but when i try and put a 1mb jpg in the pictures folder it just locks up again
keep getting the address bar green bar timing out.
going to test on other pc's now.
I have raised and issue on Google's help forum:
http://www.google.com/support/forum...ad?fid=6e64e7bec5a942150004b2465c8c3fde&hl=en
Hi, yes i saw that and added my issues to it.
the fact you are on Mac and im Windows tells me its another issue with the nexus :/
i have tried a 2nd pc and problem is the same
Just done a factory reset on my nexus and yes ..... its still the same several hours of tweaks down the pan ....
50/50 on keeping this phone atm, i have 14 days to return it so hopefully this will get addressed but not seeing to many people with the problem :/
Have you tried Wifi File transfer via an App? I think the issue is MTP integration into ICS.
There are always going to be things to fix on v0.1 of software. The best thing to do is for us all to log the issue on the Google forum so that they know it is an issue and can work on a fix or do some testing to iron the issue out.
Yup, just about to try a Wifi transfer solution
Wifi File Explorer is my goto solution since I found it. Makes it easy to transfer files across devices like my phone, tablet, and several PC's I use throughout the day.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
I'm wondering that so many use a cable. Never used a cable for my Android phones before except for charging or flashing a new rom.
Wifi is so much more comfortable and there are many different solutions. FTP Server, or easy Apps who offer you a web interface to access the phone via Browser.

[Q] Galaxy nexus USB data stopped working (still charges)

My Nexus is stock but it is unlocked.
I have the latest CWM on there (touch 5.8.0.2)
I was currently downloading all the necessary stuff to flash to AOKP but havent even got there yet because all of the sudden my USB isn't working.
I have tried two different cables, the stock one and a different one (both which were working before).
I get charging working through USB but no file transfer.
I just did a wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache via Recovery, and still nada.
Am I cooked here? B-stock with no warranty from Expansys, now currently kicking myself for not buying brand new.
[edit] yes MTP and USB Debug were/are both checked on
[edit2] a lot of my searches seem to indicate that you can move and transfer via adb in recovery or fastboot while having this error. I am not finding that to be the case.
[edit3] windows 7 does not show any indication of a usb drive or anything plugged in as it used to before. This is obviously making it hard for me to try things like reinstalling drivers and whatnot.
thanks
It probably has nothing to do with the USB port...
Plug your phone into your computer, and then scroll the status bar down. You should see a notification "Connected as xx" Select that, then make sure connect as MTP is checked, if it's connected via ptp (camera) it won't allow you to sync files, for what reason so ever...
If that doesn't help, then reflash stock ROM, that usually helps.. With most problems anyway...
If both of these don't work, then I'm sorry, but I can't help you. I'd then call Samsung, and send it in...
LG Simon
Yea MTP was already checked on. USB debugging being on would have auto kicked in as well.
I flashed AOKP but still the same issues. The hardware might have gotten bonked - I hate how fragile these tiny little ports are!
Is there some kind of diagnostic I can run to see if it is truly a hardware issue?
It's the kernel, try another one
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Just swapped to Faux kernel... still persists.
I'm really starting to think its the hardware but crossing my fingers there's a fix.
the same thing is happening to me, it started yesterday too!
I am on AOKP b-23, Faux kernel....
plug in my usb, it can charge but absolutely nothing happens on the computer side, try it on number of computers too... but the phone is able to charge.
EDIT:
try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400034
or this
http://forum.aokp.co/topic/29-aokp-faq-please-give-me-input-i-update-answers-many-times-a-day/
Mine started doing this. Would charge‚ but sometime I couldn't transfer data or use adb. It seems that the USB didn't like to stay in my computer. Any little movement would unplug it just enough to keep it charging but nothing else.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I've since tested the MHL cable and also tried using the usb host cable to connect a mouse and both work... does that mean my data connection theoretically could be fine?
I'm using AOKP #23 with Trinity and not had this issue at all. Whether it's because I combine the ROM, Gapps and kernel before flashing I don't know but my phone is running fine
im having this problem as well. does anyone have a solution?
So all you guys that are having problems have enabled MTP through Settings >Storage?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Had this same issue yesterday ( phone was 1 day old ) had it plugged into my windows 7 machine and all of sudden the machine couldnt see it. So I wiggled the cable sure enough the computer saw it, jiggled it again and it would lose connection to the PC. Tried this on several PCs with Several cables and same result everytime. If I held the cable connected to the phone at the right angle it would never lose connection.
Ran to Verizon and the numbskull behind counter tried telling me that is normal and I would just have live with it, almost punched him in the throat. Demaded he go get another phone and show me if that one does it. It didnt so he swapped it and was to hasty about it, ended up giving me another cable charger and headphones WOOT WOOT
new phone doesnt do it as of this writing
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427539 This is probably the issue you guys are experiencing. Seems like you should swap it in or try to fix it yourself by changing the USB charging board.

i'm an android dev and this has happened to me. really really not good to no longer have adb access to my device. restarted both the phone and computer and tried a different coworker's computer and usb cable with no luck.
i used a samsung usb charger last night which i usually never do (i usually just charge it on the computer) and now this morning i have no data connection.
Hello,
have this problem already on my GNEX. After some reading, i got an idea to turn off Fast Charge in Trickster MOD.
And MTP now working .
Anyway there is an warning about fast charge - " Enabling this will disable access to phone storage" .
Problem solved
Yes, i can't connect mtp too and you rigth..usb fast charging is the problem.

Just so y'all know...Fast Charge is simply tricking your phone into thinking it's plugged into an AC outlet...rather than a USB port.
Thus MTP won't work.
same issue here
I'm having the same issue here. Charging works fine with 2 computers and multiple USB cables (as well as AC and car charger adapters), but data transfer has completely stopped working. My computer won't see my phone at all. I have the correct drivers (given that I used them to connect to my computer when I first rooted and unlocked the bootloader). Tried changing the drivers, but I can't get my phone to show up in Device Manager at all. MTP and USB Debugging are enabled.
The only thing I can think of is that I dropped my phone while it was connected, and now the USB cable only charges the phone if I bend it in a certain way (it usually requires upward pressure where the cable plugs into the phone to work). However, other USB charging cables work just fine without any pressure. Is there any chance that a new OEM Samsung USB cable might solve my problem? The other cables I've used weren't OEM.
I normally use a wi-fi data transfer app because the USB data transfer has been slow since day one, so that can be worked around. What IS a major problem for me is that I'm trying to re-root my phone after my root access was lost with the 4.0.4 OTA update. I didn't keep up with the news and only realized last week that my root access had been lost because I tried to do things that required root. Since the OTA update trashed my CWM recovery image, I seem to have no way to re-root and reinstall CWM aside from going back to my computer and doing what I did the first time. But if I can't connect to my computer, I can't do that. It also seems that I would need computer access to remove root in case I bring it back to Verizon for a replacement under warranty.
So on another note, if you guys know of a way to re-root my phone without connecting it to my PC, I'm all ears...

I have run into a lot of USB defects on the phones I have received. It might be wise to get Samsung to repair it, but you will be without a phone for a week. You could also try another cable.
I used to have similar issues except where the power got routed into the data port, frying my phone in multiple areas.
On Samsung's repair ticket they said REPLACED COMPONENT (I'm assuming this is the usb controller and port) this could be the solution but it requires sending it in.

Phone isn't recognised by computer nor is my USB C stick

Hello,
I hope someone can help. I am trying to get my computer to recognise my phone. I am not rooted and I have Marshmellow 6.0.1
I unlocked developer options. I bought a cable and it worked! The computer saw my phone. However it stopped seeing my phone. Why I don't know! But when it did work I saw the driver was not for the 5x but from my S4. Well since it's not working I ordered the recommended USB cables by Benson Leung Tech Matte. Still unable to see my phone. Tried cables on another computer with same results. The computer I tried it on recognised my phone and then it also stopped seeing my phone.
I also bought a usb c stick to use on my phone. My phone responds to the stick but when I choose for MTP from charging nothing happens and i cannot access the USB Stick. In Dev options MTP is selected. I also noticed that USB tethering is not available. I have no clue what to try next.

USB debugging needs to be selected. Also, you need to toggle to PTP and back to MTP

Thanks for the drivers. USB Debugging is on. When I toggled Charging popped up instead of PTP and so I kept toggling and it finally went to PTP and so I toggled MTP and it goes back to charging! So I kept at it until it finally went to MTP. Is this normal? I counted 12 tries before changing from charging to PTP! But the computer doesn't see the phone. I did it a few times

i honestly never thought about this, is this even supposed to work without some kind of an OTG adapter. i mean sure, the plugs fit, put do the pins match/work for that configuration?
from how you describe that your phone reacts i would guess it doesn't, and it sounds more like your phone goes into client, as opposed to host mode.
very interested to see what someone with more knowledge of the matter would have to say about plugging a usb-c memory stick directly into your phone.

I've used several phones on my PC and at first it had a little trouble but finally settled in. Kind of like a new ROM. You have to give it a while to settle in and get its groove on.

not really a surprise there, but what OP described was putting a usb-C stick directly into the phone, without any cables or adapters in between, with the question emerging if that is even supposed to work (which in his case didn't) due to possible problems of the pin-layout, etc.

that does not explain his PC suddenly not recognizing his phone anymore though.
at this point it sounds to me like either there still is a driver issue (e.g. the mentioned S4 driver wan't properly uninstalled), or one of the usb ports (phone or pc) has an issue.
try different ports on your PC and make sure other devices work with the ports. if not try if you can get it to work by applying a little pressure in different directions to the cable and listen out for windows' annoying usb sound.
on the other end make sure your phone really is connected correctly to the cable. it should snap in just like the OEM charging cable which took some time getting used to to overcome the resistence of the usb-c port.

Thanks again for your quick reply,
I tried my Samsung Tab II tablet and my old S4 on my PC and they both work as advertised. Recognised right away and I hadn't used my tablet to my PC before. What I think is maybe its the USB on the phone itself?

I think its the phone itself, since it did work briefly. Also with the USB C thumb drive the phone recognises it but will not read the thumb drive. I ordered it from play store I wonder how getting it repaired/looked at is going work Have to wait until Monday to call!
Hello again,
I Hope you guys like some feedback about my issue. Contacted Google and they asked me just about all the same questions and had me do some screen shots and try some of their ideas such as factory reset, trying other computers and other cables. Nothing worked so they sent me a new phone! Just got it yesterday. Would have been here sooner but I was busy!
So got new phone setup and the computer recognizes my phone on PTP but not MTP. Also my driver for the phone is a generic nexus and the it still shows up as a samsung! How can I get the new driver if when i do a search for new driver my computer says I have the best driver already installed? I don't want the driver to still be a problem. So i hope you guys have some answers. Lol! I know you guys do!!
