[Q] KF2 10.2.6 bricked - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

Hi.
I just got a KF2 that won't boot.
It will boot into twrp but that's it.
I made a fastboot cable and I can get it to fast boot.
How do you put a rom on it from twrp.
I have done other devices before but they all has sd card slots so it was more straight forward.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

Do you get a blue kindle fire logo?
When you flash with stock rom it wipes out FFF bootloader and replaces it with one from amazon.
Warning: Installing the Amazon Kindle Fire Software Update will not only replace the system software, but also overwrite the bootloader and recovery with the stock versions. Any custom bootloader and recovery like FFF and TWRP will be overwritten in the process.

But the system boots or is it stuck at this logo?
After system boot you should be able to run this command
Code:
adb devices
adb is somewhere in kfu directory

Your problem, besides not having a clue what you're doing, is you didn't wipe the necessary partitions before trying to install a new ROM. Most of the time, that results in sort of a Frankenstein of an OS that the system cannot boot normally.
Typically, with FFF installed, you can tell pretty easily what mode your device is in by looking looking at your screen. If the device hangs at the boot screen, you know it is in fastboot, or if it continues on to the boot animation, you know it's in normal mode. With the stock Kindle Fire software installed, both the bootloader's splash screen and the boot animation are the same (with the exception of brightness), so you have to use the adb to determine what state the device is in. In your case, the device is in normal boot mode, so the typical "fix" for "stuck at kindle fire logo" wouldn't apply to you.
Unfortunately, by reinstalling the Kindle Fire update.zip, you also overwrite not only the custom bootloader, but custom recovery as well, which is required to fix your problem. Reverting back to stock, simply to re-root or install a different ROM is unnecessary and a complete waste of time. Now you have to get back into fastboot mode so you can reinstall custom recovery, wipe the necessary partitions and reinstall a ROM.
If any of this sounds foreign to you, it's because you're in WAY over your head. Before you go any further, educate yourself in how and why the Kindle Fire/Android works. Doing so will greatly increase your chances of success and decrease the chances of finding yourself in another situation like this one.

i had this problem but i have a kf2 (non hd)....i also used hashcodes otter2 bootloader files....but what i did was re flash his bootloader files and it gave me twrp back........then i sideloaded my cm10.1 rom and it fixed it where i could get back to cm10.1 then i put gapps back in and everything was fine again.....but as far as me putting it back stock i'm still working on that.....youll have to get it into fastboot mode with a fastboot factory cable to reflash your bootloader files again....it worked for me but i am using a kf2 though.....

[Q] My kindle fire 1st generation stock in logo after CM 10.1

Hi I am going to tell what I did and I hope somebody can help me
1. I installed CM 10.1 in my kindle fire 1st generation and everything was very fine.
2. I wanted to back to the original frimware of the Kindle fire 1st generation and I saved the original frimware of the Kindle fire 1st generation in the sd card of the kindle.
3. I started in recovery mode and I installed the original frimware of the kindle fire 1st generation. After that I re-boot the kindle and the kindle is Stuck in the logo.
Please if anybody knows what I can do please help me.
Did you do a "factory reset" in recovery before installing? If not, you'll need to get a factory cable.

no man I didnt, and how can the factory cable help me? dude
thanks for answer
It will be needed to force the device into fastboot so that you can resend twrp and fff in order to perform a full wipe minus the sdcard/external storage and flash a new rom.

[Q] Kindle Fire 2 is bricked

Hey, I was stupid and tried to install a rom without factory-resetting my kindle. Now I am stuck at the splash logo boot loop. I tried the unbrick utility, but it can't find my kindle. I have access to fastboot commands, but not adb. Don't ask me why, I just can't use adb. I don't know how to restore my kindle to a working state. I have a fastboot cable available. Thanks in advance. Im a noob btw.:crying:

I'm guessing it's looping from the kindle fire screen not the cm10.1 screen, correct? If so, you can use the command, "fastboot -i 0x1949 -w". That will wipe userdata and cache. But if it's looping without even loading the rom that's probably not going to fix it.

Ok, I am now not stuck on the splash logo. i reflashed the recovery and boot partitions and now it is trying to boot, but there is currently no os installed. Is this a good sign that I can fix it? I am in slc for the weekend and cant flash the system partition yet.
Another question. I tried installing twrp on my recovery, but i cant boot into it. it wont show the blue logo. do i need an os installed to use it?

Yes. os MUST be installed for our recovery to function. Specifically a file called 'stack' has to reside on the system partition

Ok, I figured out it was a OTA update that re-bricked it. I am downloading a custom rom right now. I finally got it to work! Thanks for all your help.:victory:

i got similar problems. rooted it, but i got afterwards some problems with superuser applications. ran sveral rooting methods, but at some point, it stucked now with the orange "kindle fire" logo.
tried also to use different recoverys (kindle-fire-ultility2, KF2_SRT_10.2.3) but nothing helped. i cant reach the device anymore. adb says: no device in list and fastboot: <waiting for device>
actually i use the supplied cable. or am i wrong to use it for fastboot. thought the supplied one is similar to the special fastboot cables from e.g ebay
/edit: sry, just realized after reading the FAQs, that the factory cable is a different one. sorry.

[Q] Backup of stock os.

I screwed up and flashed a Kf1 rom on a kf2, and now i cant boot, and recovery isnt working.
With KFFirstAide i can flash a sotck rom backup, although i cant find one anywhere.

Fastboot cable might help. Other than that looks like a brick

Kindle Fire 2 Stuck at boot logo

I have a rooted kindle fire 2 stuck in the boot logo. twrp is installed, I've tried unsuccessfully to use kfu, I have a mac computer and cannot figure out how to get my baby up and running again. I can get it into recovery, I can get the mac to recognize device, i have downloaded the stock through amazon but when I try to install keeps giving me error on update.zip file. Please help me.

Did you try to update TWRP and cause the bootloop or did it just start doing it?
It just started doing. I installed custom rom which worked a few days then the boot loop. I still have recovery on it because I can get to recovery. I don't think I backed up before installing rom but when I connect to Mac it recognizes the device

Please get your KF2 into Fastboot (USING THE FASTBOOT CABLE), and restore stock to your device and TRY AGAIN USING POWERPOINT45's METHOD. DO NOT USE KF1's KINDLE FIRE UTILITY. IF YOU NEED ANYTHING, REFER TO KINDLE FIRE FIRST AIDE (KFFirstAide).
