[Q] Galaxy s3, Prepaid SIM - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello, My friend bought 2 galaxy s3's. I bought one of him. It's AT&T branded, I know I'll need a simunlock. But what prepaid service is compatible with this? Should I just stick with AT&T? I was hoping to go with Straight Talk, Boost, Virgin Mobile.. Either one of these.
Thanks!

I believe boost and virgin are cdma. I know straight talk for sure is a gsm carrier and will work on the i747 variant.

Ah that's right, Boost and Virgin are indeed CDMA. I guess I'll have to google the straight talk

straight talk, ATT GoPhone Prepaid Plan and T-Mobile monthly 4G to name a few.
Unfortunately prepaid plans do not currently offer LTE support so that will be a feature you'll miss out on.
xbeerdroiDx is also correct, virgin and boost are both incompatible because they are CDMA. The ATT version is a GSM device.

What straight talk sim should I get for unlocked galaxy nexus

I'm on the verge of ordering a galaxy nexus from Google and Im going to use it through straight talk. Just wondering which sim card I should order. They have an unlocked sim and an att sim. I don't have good T-Mobile coverage. I just want to make sure ill have 3g or hspa+ data with whatever sim I choose.

Seems like everyone is enjoying amazing speeds on t-mobile except, of course, if you're in kansas city...we have shhit speeds. And why would even throw your money to an evil company that is against net neutrality, fair prices and helps the NSA record your calls!?! Just go t-mobile

I would go T-Mobile but they don't even have 3g data where I live. It sucks. I'm in a Bermuda triangle of cell service where my only choice is verizon or Att.

It sounds like you've answered your own question. If AT&T has good service where you live, than go AT&T prepaid. T-Mobile has improved their service in the last 3 years and has expanded. I'm not sure how long it's been since you checked on their coverage in your area, but it may be worth a shot. Great thing about prepaid is, if you don't like what you have, you can go a different route the next month.
Here's a great and informative thread about prepaid and may also have some more options for you to check out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455014
You could order the Tmobile sim and if it doesn't work out, you can order an ATT sim from them and switch your StraightTalk number over.
This will cost you another $15 though for the 2nd sim.
Does anyone have any experience with simple mobile? Looks to be the same thing as straight talk. Just buy a sim and service plan. I'm assuming they are using AT&T and T-Mobile towers just like straight talk.

AT&T To Verizon

Hello,
I own a Samsung Galaxy S3 for AT&T. I would like to know if I can somehow use it on Verizon instead. I no longer have my AT&T service so it would be a lot easier if I didn't have to buy a new phone. A quick response would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Austin
You can not use a AT&T phone on Verizon. AT&T uses GSM. Version uses CDMA.

This is correct. The only other major carrier that you can use your phone on is T-Mobile. That said, if you are new to Verizon, chances are that you will be eligible for a subsidized phone. There are a ton of deals out there this holiday season for the GS3. You can get one for $60 on Amazon.

Using a Tmobile Sim

I have an ATT Galaxy S3. I am currently using a Straight Talk ATT sim. They have been throttling my data as of late, and I wanna switch to another sim.
I want to switch to a Net10 Tmobile sim which is apparently unlimited.
My phone is unlocked.
Question is, will I get good HSPA+ plus speed on an ATT phone on the Tmobile network. I live in Las Vegas which is apparently Tmobile 1900Mhz, so I am thinking it should work. But I am not sure, so that is why I am asking.
Thanks

No one here knows where you live. Give it a try. Ask T-Mobile if your area has good coverage.

It should work on 1900 just fine.

[Q] help !! please att data not working on t-mobile 999

ok is there a rom that work right out the box for some sort of data with my prepaid at&t sim card i can make calls get mms, but cant get data i really need some sort of data working today i am rooted, unlocked and have no idea if i should be useing some sort of at&t kernal, or just changeing the apn, which has not worked yet?
can some one please direct me to the right thread or something
So you have a Tmobile T999 with an ATT prepaid sim?
I don't remember for sure so hopefully someone else can confirm, but I don't think the T999 can get better than 3g on ATTs network.
But if you're using the ATT sim, you'll be on their network so you may need to either unlock the phone and/or put in the correct ATT apn.

It will use HSPA on At&t no problem. Sounds like an APN issue. Your best bet is to go to the At&t forum and flash an At&t rom. Just make sure not to flash an At&t radio. Data should work out of the box on an At&t build.

I think it will use HSPA+ but only difference is that att hspa+ is not 42mg like on tmobile. I was getting around 7mg with my friends att sim on my t999.

This is correct. at&t uses the older HSDPA 7/14 and HSPA 21 depending on where you are located. They opted to go to LTE instead of a dual carrier configuration for their HSPA+
What service do you have with the prepaid att service? Did you have to get a new sim card? I looked everywhere on here, but didn't see anything

[Q] Metro PCS SGS-III supported on XDA?

So I have an offer to buy a Metro PCS GS3 for $200. It's in as-new condition, but I don't want to buy a phone I can't modify and I don't see a forum for it on here. The model number is SGH-R530H. Ideas?
That version is CDMA based, look in the Sprint and/or VZW forums for support.

Now they do, after the TMo merger, and those phones are T999 but he is using a R530 CDMA phone.
