I'm looking for the semcCamera.apk that has that feature that allows you to take a picture from the lockscreen. I've looked through most of the threads and came up empty. It was a youtube video of the Xperia S or sola I'm not sure...Google didn't turn up anything. 'preciate if anybody could help or share.
Its not just a camera.apk its a whole phone that you are looking for. It doesn't matter if this app can take photos from the lockscreen if the lockscreen is not compatible with it.This feature probably must be also supported in a framework so I think its not possible.
Thanks for clarifying that for me. I figured all you had to do was download the camera from the xperia z to the xperia arc s and just change the permissions so it'll work. All I really wanted was that burst mode feature while you're using the camcorder on the xperia z. Oh well.

As the Xperia Arc and Play has a lot of similarity in terms of the software, firmware version, is it possible to port the fantastic user friendly Arc defaults camera apps to PLAY?
Our PLAY camera is not worse than any other 5.1MP camera as I have tried it out few days. However, the UI is quite awkward...

Ofcourse it's possible. As you may have noticed we seem to have a shortage of developers for the xplay maybe when doomlord gets his play he MAY look into it
Thanks for your reply, I found PLAY is a bit unique from Arc and Neo. Not sure if it is a good thing. Fortunately it now updated with the HD video recording which make it more fun for the camera.

totaly agreed need to be ported only zhdzu can do it
May I know what or who is zhdzu?
I personally like the default camera app, and there are a few panorama apps in the market, I know they arn't as good as Sony's but whatever if you want a proper 360 view just record it.

Its not very special, but its kind of bot fair as the Xperia series should all share the same camera apps that design by the Sony Ericsson. But as you can see, only Play is using the default camera apps that comes with the Android gingerbread...
Why Play does not deserve to get the better SE camera apps? Since it is the Playstation Phone Flagship of the company and its camera spec is fully compatible with the Arc's camera app.

Sorry for grave digging but has anyone made progress with this? I HATE the gingerbread camera app, it's quite unresponsive (compared to iPhones) and would love to try out one made by SE

Saw a shoot out video between the new Xperia ion and the new Nexus, the new xperia's (possibly the whole range) have a feature to bypass the lock screen and jump straight into the camera app by holding down the camera button, this also focuses and takes a picture all in about 1.5 sec
its pretty impressive.. just wondering if anyone thinks it might be possible to port this feature to our Xperia's or figure out how they did it..

Today i installed CM10 ROM on my xperia S, + NOVA kernel. I installed gapps and everything is working fine i have only 2 problems, one of them is that when im in camera app and i want to use photo sphere, my camera app crashes(i have question here, i see camera app named cyber-shot in some videos; why is that??)
second problem is the keyboard i just cant find the option to turn the swype on, i searched the internet and flashed JB 4.2 keyboard but it isnt shown anywhere.
and just few noob questions:
is there anyway to get the stock walkman widget working?? beacuse i dont really like this apollo music player (i got the application WALKMAN tho, but i would really like to get the widget)
is possible to get small apps working on CM10?? (probably not i guess)
is possible to get the some stock wigets i had on stock SONY UI.
the thing is that i really like sony UI, but google's stock UI just feels so much smoother and snappier witch i preffer over the choppy sony UI.
Is there any way to add some features of quickpic app to Sony album app...?
I want to add the ' exclude folder ' feature to my Sony album app. So that I can exclude my particular folder from showing in the app..

I don't think this will be possible. That feature is the most requested feature for the album app on nearly all sony devices, and no one ever managed to code it...
Please correct me if I'm wrong, cause this is the only reason I don't use sonys album.

I use Quickpic. I totally agree, it's not looking very good, but it's a powerful app and it's completely free.

It shoots a series of photos in quick succession, after which you can either simply pick the best shot to keep or apply one of a number of effects to the photos.And he Took Some Awesome Photos With it.camera of lumia 520 totally out performing...Is There Anyway To get that features on my Xperia s.Or something similar to it.

The lastest (Z1 or M) Social Camera is the best suggest for you!
I'd just prefer the Xperia M camera. Unless you have kitkat, try the one below.
Try this one, Google has added some new features. Though I don't know if its compatible for the Xperia S

the Xperia M camera will only work if you have installed Z1 Camera Mod...
I suggest you to install the eXisten ROM for Z1 Camera & others smart social camera apps by Sony
