I have also had the problem. I also already had JB 4.1.1 on the 101 xs. You must go back to ICS. Then you can upgrade your Tablet with this rooted version.

Hi guys,
sorry but just out of curiosity....does this work on the archos Familypad 2?
any idea or suggestions are extremely appreciated.
Thanks

hi @surdu_petru, i've installed your Android 4.1.2 Firmware 4.1.2 with Root access ! (SDE was enabled)
The new firmware included the zImage, and initramfs.cpio.lzo was succesfull installed.
Sometimes Superuser hangs, and the error Superuser has ended was on the display.
I installed quickboot from Aptoide, and made a reboot, i confirmed superuser the process...superuser was closed..and now the Archos 101 XS never boot, it hangs on the bootlogo.
i can boot into sde, tried check the disk, it works, but on reboot ther is only the bootlogo.
Can you help me, thanks for all.
today i cleared all data, installed the firmware, removed the kernel, copied the zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo, there was an error, initramfs not found ?

Downgrade to ICS first? i.e., what i did was:
Format from recovery SDE
Copy official ICS Firmware (file is firmware_archos_it4x.aos), reboot
Turn on USB debugging (not sure if this is necessary).
Then follow instructions in the first post.
Note, I did also do the following optional step from that post:
go to recovery SDE and Remove android kernel if you have already installed any official firmware!

Good luck and post back if this works.

@KyleR2, thanks for your answer, I have tried these steps several times, every time I had a boot loop.
Now I have installed the original Firmware 4.0.26, and then the rooteted Version Blue Concept V01, this runs solidly and stable, point the vulture why. But i dont know why, in this Version i can't remove the Android Kernel in the SDE.

hi surdu_petru, you have right, but i see the option, when i go to remove android kernel, i'm in the main menue of SDE an the option is visible.

You can try to remove android kernel ! If you removed android kernel, and you can not see on the next boot on SDE, than the device will boot always on custom zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo made by me , so device will boot always on root rom version !
Good luck :good:

Working Archos 101xs with your ROM
Hi surdu_petru ! I need to thank you. My Archos 101xs is now fully rooted and working fine.
For the rest of the world who's stuck in a bootloop:
-I encountered the same boot loop problem as others.
-I was coming from JB, I had to flash back the ICS aos file from archos to get the new rom working.
-The initramfs file not being recognized : it's recognized directly if you have downgraded correctly. Else you can get past the error if you rename the file without .cpio.lzo, but you'll get stuck at boot.
Following the exact procedure given worked fine.
Now I enjoy surfing without ads

Hi there,
I have managed to root my familypad 2 by using the 'Chinese root'; I explain; I have found a similar yarvik 13 inch tab; then I looked up on rooting options and found one for a yarvik tablet.....I will get you the link....the program is in Chinese....but works perfectly; tried to get rid of that Chinese app and leave SU do the job but I had lost the root. I do not mind leaving it on. Now the familypad I really worth the money Also I made sure I had Moborobo installed to get the right drivers;
http://forum.yarvik.com/showthread.php?4243-root-after-upgrade-to-4-1-1
follow from post 9....good luck. the procedure was safe, no probs, I did it twice, but strangely it did not work on my main pc, I had to install the software and moborobo on my win 8 tablet asus w500. So it worked for me and it should work for you, just make sure you know what to 'click' as it is in mandarin language...if you r Chinese, then lucky u.
let m know..

What about 4.1.4 root ? (New version available on archos website)

dualrecovery not working when coming from D5503_14.4.A.0.108 ?

Hello folks,
I just spend a couple of hours trying to get some new software on my Z1C. My inital plan was to flash PA 4.4 final, but that didn't really work out. Here's what happend:
1) I received the 108 update OTA. I used EasyRootTool ( ht tp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900) with option 2 to regain root access. That seemed to work so far. Afterwards I tried to installed lockeddualrecovery using the Z1C-lockeddualrecovery2.7.129-BETA.installer, and here things started to get strange. I couldn't boot into CWM, so I made a backup using TWRP.
2) I unlocked my bootloader
3) I flashed PA following the instructions given in the thread: ht tp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764775
4) I was stuck with a bootloop, showing the PA start screen.
So I tried to roll back using the TWRP I made before unlocking the bootloader, but TWRP won't recognize the backup. I tried putting it in a folder named TWRP, directly into the root folder, interal SD, external SD...all the same, it just doesn't show up. I also can't install one of my older CWM backups, as trying to boot into CWM leads to a bootloop showing the "SONY" screen.
So I decided to flash a stock ROM (D5503_14.4.A.0.108_GenericDE_(1279-6978)) and repeated the procedure. Again, I'm stuck with a TWRP that won't recognize its own backup and a broken CWM. Therefore my question: Am I doing something wrong? Did this tool chain (upgrade to 108 -> EasyRootTool -> lockeddualrecovery) work for anybody else?

Use instead .128 beta recovery and everything runs fine!

Thanks, so if I'm using Z1C-lockeddualrecovery2.7.128-BETA and follow the instructions from the PA 4.4 thread, it shouldn't matter if I come from 108 or 757 right? Right now I'm on 757, so I would prefer to upgrade from here straight to PA 4.4

I installed update.app with stock recovery. With the 3 buttons method. I was on the repack by oxalis.
After that i installed twrp 2.8.0.1. Before reboot it asked me if i want to root the phone. I cheked yes. After that the phone rebooted supersu whas installed. After i opened supersu it asked me to update from play or twrp. I chose google play and after that supersu got stuck. From twrp got stuck too. Cant update the binary.

[CBUMP][BOOT] Bump Your Current Boot Image

BUMP Your Current Boot Partition
Supports all of G2
Will work for other devices that use BUMP, so long as boot is located at:
Code:
/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot
Uses:
1) Fix boot partition after flashing SuperSU.
2) Flash any boot.img you want without BUMPing it first. Flash this zip after flashing the non-BUMPed boot.img.
3) Fix boot cert error.**
**This will fix boot cert error as long as you are on JB/KK bootloader. If you broke your phone and got boot cert error by upgrading your bootloader to LP, this won't help.
4) For Dev: The cbump binary in the zip is built static. Feel free to yank it out and use it for your own purposes.
Use: Simply flash in TWRP.

Ummm... Hello @blastagator
I'll try to explain this swiftly...
I made a LG Framework Installer for LG G2 (and finally it installed), also the thread is here
It works by installing all required files to system and then modifies the ramdisk so that LG Framework will be added to BOOTCLASSPATH. The installer is working and changes are verified by re-extracting ramdisk to a connected computer and checking BOOTCLASSPATH on init.environ.rc.
And here is the problem, I know that cert will be broken so I used your CBUMP but booting still gives me secure boot errors... Please help us

Have you tried saving the new boot.img, using the normal python bump, and then reflashing the python bump version? That will at least tell you if it is CBUMP or some other issue.

I tried, and python worked. Maybe it is CBUMP, but well... I looked through the source code of both and then just appended the 6 bytes of lg_magic to the boot.img and it works! Hahahahha
Anyway, thanks for your response
LG Framework is now ready
One down, two to go
Hooks to framework.jar (xposed?)
Upgrade API lvl of lp apps (permission handling rework to make mm happy)
I tried to make a porting of miui 8 from n5 and after flash rom i flashed this script for bumping boot image. In the reboot anyway i got boot security error. Why? (for doing porting i must decompile and recompile kernel)
Hi there guys!
Well it seems there's a lot of stuff around Bump and LG and devs that I do not know.. I read something but I really didn't get the basic stuff, I saw a few bump threads closed but then I find this one..
I have a few question for whom who may know, if you please..
I have an LG G Pad 7 where the latest stock is Lollipop; to root and install TWRP I got to downgrade to KK, as many of LG owers got to; then I can flash ROMs. But what if I need a rooted STOCK? The only Stock available for me are kdz, which completely erase any stuff. If I try to root the Lollipop stock I cannot boot anymore because of boot error!
So I would like to know if I took the boot.img from a rooted KK rom and then bump it, could I flash it back to Lollipop stock so that I'll be able to root it? Also, if it is possible, do I need a "special" version of Bump tool or can I use the G2 one, for example?
Well, I think it's all..
Thanks a lot for paying attention, see you!
Thanks so much!
I tried to install Magisk on my vs985 (G3 verizon) and of course got slammed by the flashing red and blue lights secure boot error.
Little bit of googling led me here, and this fixed it right up.
does any one know if this can be made to work for lg devices such as vs425pp and k120 ?
Hi. Apologies for asking this here. I'm a bit desperate, and I've been searching for ways to get magisk installed on my g3 (f460k - the korean cat.6 variant with snapdragon 805). My search brought me here. Unfortunately, my device is dead dev-wise. I'm wondering if this would work on Nougat? I'd like to flash Magisk then this to avoid secure boot error. Thanks.
Edit:
Flash it after flashing magisk on f460k running Nougat and it works!!! Thank you op for this!
I edited boot.img (came out at 11 mb instead of 16 but contents seems as the original).
Entered TWRP and installed edited img. (Cannot enter fastboot)
Installed your zip. Script seemed to execute correctly.
Reboot (withot wipe cache/dalvik)
Got this error on the top left corner of the screen with LG logo
secure booting error boot certification verify
Had to re-enter recovery and install back original boot.img
Any ideas? Thanks

used above procedure, just unpacked and repacked, got 16 mb boot.img, installed tru twrp, installed cbump, got into fastboot

OP3 - Nethunter - "Unpacking boot image failed"

Hi there,
I wanted to install the latest image of Nethunter (found on build.nethunter.com/nightly) but when I install it with TWRP I keep getting the message : "Unpacking boot image failed" in the log screen.
What I did in order:
- Unlock fastboot mode
- Flash TWRP recovery (found on build.nethunter.com/twrp)
- Reboot on TWRP
- Install kernel ( kernel-nethunter-oneplus3-nougat-3.15.4-20170126-2226 )
- Install ROM ( nethunter-generic-armhf-kalifs-minimal-rolling-3.15.4-20170202-1604 )
- Reboot
It is when I install the rom that I get the error message "Unpacking boot image failed". Even if at the end it says "install completed - Success", it keep loading (with the nethunter loading screen) indefinitely...
I tried many differents versions of TWRP and even different builds of Nethunter, I found nothing on the net, so what should I do ?
Should I post an issue on the kali-nethunter github ?
Hope you have some ideas of what I can try...
However if you need any other information (log file ...), tell me what.

What ROM are you using?
Last time i installed it i was on OOS 3.2.2. You have to flash kernel and then the big file (generic nethunter.....)
Found that in https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68451978&postcount=6
It worked perfectly but since 3.2.2 i havent touched it again so not sure what rom is compatible atm

I'm trying with the "nethunter-generic-armhf-kalifs-minimal-rolling-3.15.4-20170202-1604.zip"
Also tried with the full version, instead of minimal but same result.

I mean version of OOS, not nethunter overlay. See my screenshot. You have to download one of the following kernels depending if you are on MM or nougat. Flash it before flashing the nethunter overlay

I'm trying with the latest OTA version, so actually the 4.0.2.
I also installed the kernel before, I'm gonna edit my first post with informations on what I did.

Thank's for the support anyway
I'm using the TWRP provided by Nethunter on build.nethunter.com/twrp/oneplus/
Also tried with official 3.0.3 for the OnePlus 3 from twrp.me/devices/oneplusthree.html

And I'm here sitting with my error and my infinite boot, lol.
Can you please put the installation process you did ? With the files you used ?
I'm getting my phone to full-stock.

Sure. Just give me time to post what i did, currently restoring my nandroid because something went wrong when updating metapackages, so im going to download full version instead of minimal and enable OGT-USB to check if wifite works. I will post the steps asap :good:
meanwhile..... how the **** do i enable usb-otg? i dont find the option in settings/storage/3dot
Good and bad news: OTG does not work (it worked for me on MM) but nethunter runs "well" ... it stucks while rebooting and some weird things more. It runs laggy as well...
Steps and config i have
-Experience ROM v10.1(oos 4.0.2 with some adds) and custom TWRP by blu_spark v14
1-Download these 2 files from https://build.nethunter.com/nightly/3.15.4-20170202-1604/
-kernel-nethunter-oneplus3-nougat-3.15.4-20170202-1604.zip
-nethunter-generic-arm64-kalifs-full-rolling-3.15.4-20170202-1604.zip
2-Reboot to recovery and install nethunter-generic-arm64.....
3-Not sure if you have to reboot and then install kernel but i flashed nethunter+kernel without rebooting to system
4-Reboot to system and open supersu, then open nethunter app and grant superuser permissions
5-Done.
I Dont really know why my external adapter or pendrive are not recognized, because it did in MM with same hardware lol. Maybe now only works with official usb-c adapter, who knows
I will try this when I can, but it is close to what I already did.
I will edit this post when done.
I seen that you used the arm64 version, perhaps the problem is that I use the armhf ?

Do you think flashing another ROM before flashing nh-generic will help ?

Tested with 2 antennas and result is the same in both (see SS)
