are you rooted? file should be stored in /cache
if you are not rooted... then BEFORE rebooting to install the upgrade(after the update downloads).. you could root your device and pull the file.. or push it to /sdcard

i think he could re-lock but still be rooted? not 100%. either way he should be able to get us the file

WHAT?! I am trying to compose myself but please let this be real. I talked to my LG rep yesterday and said we would be in for a treat this week but I didn't think it would be this fast.

Yes, he can re-lock, and keep root, however, if he is not stock, and has removed system/carrier apps, he runs the risk of security error boot.

How exciting. But really, I haven't gotten the update notice, can you pull the zip so I can bring Lifeless to Jellybean

wait a minute, are you in Italy?

are you rooted? because if you are, that shouldnt have happened. you cannot get OTA's when you are rooted. unless its to their voicemail application but not to their roms.

Are you using stock recovery for flashing? If I recall with s-off you needed to use a stock recovery to install any sprint updates?

u can go ahead and download the ota. itll either download to /cache or to /sdcard/downloads. if u down load it just dont apply it. once u have it downloaded just delete it from the directory it was in.
If you guys are trying to do an OTA update and it actually lets you, then you will lose ROOT, just so ya know....
You can download it without installing it.
Can someone post the update package to see what files changed?

[Q] LS980 keeps booting into recovery

Hi dear xda members,
My phone was rooted out of the box when i purchased it via amazon, i went ahead and downloaded FreeGee and installed CWM. everything went smoothly but on the next reboot, the phone booted into recovery and i was happy to see the CWM their, but now, its stuck on recovery. No matter what i do it keeps booting into recovery.
Pushing files via ADB works, i tried to flash cm11 with ZV8 radio, but still it boots into recovery.
Did any of you guys had any experience like this ? is my device bricked ?
Thank you.

Software Update

anyone else get the prompt to update the software? are you going to update?
Got it and did it 2 days ago
Same and same
probably too early to know, does anyone know if this update will affect root? coming from htc, i remember updates were frowned upon as they can make rooting more difficult.

below is the link I used. The battery drain is bad but manageable. I think it puts the wrong recovery on the phone, but it does root the phone. I was able to use titanium again :highfive:

Looking for newest OTA file. Being on straight talk I can't do OTA updates and I don't have access to a computer so am asking if anyone can put the file on android file host.
Thanks.
Install smart switch on your computer and you can update that way. I'm in the same boat.

Cool. Thanks. Not exactly what I was looking for though. Those are files for unlocked and rooted phones. I have a complete stock phone as I have no computer to unlock it. So the OTA file is my only option to aply updates.

Yeah it sucks with no computer and I live out in the middle of no where on the side of a mountain so most of my friends don't visit during the winter. Hopefully one day I will have access to a PC and unlock and root this sucker. A few ROMs I want to try besides I miss the fun of my unlocked Note 3 which the wife has.

Look in the S8 plus forum for ROMs for the Partcyborg ROM. You should be able to flash that because it is a bootloader version 2 ROM.

From what i understand to get back to stock we have to do a full wipe factory reset. Then use the right firmware and do odin flash(not princecomsey version).
