Phone freezes after rotation... - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I have a rooted unlocked tmo galaxy s3, currently running infamous 4.5. Haven't had any problems with it until today, twice now it's frozen upon rotation. Anyone else having this problem? Either with or without this rom, thanks in advance...

Update, happened again, seems to be happening when screen rotates, and them times out while in landscape...

Turn off screen rotation lol problem solved

Need more info; it could be a kernel issue, an app issue, or a user error on the way you installed the rom...

Followed Jamison's instructions to the letter, full wipe, 3x for everything, with the kernel in his rom, I did turn off screen rotation for now, no problems since. Doesn't matter what app is running at the time, home screen, gmail, and messenger are what froze. It's didn't do it on 4.4, just on 4.5. Anything else that might ad helpful, let of know.

The only other option I would suggest is redownload and rewipe everything and don't restore stuff.

I'm using the same ROM and tried rotate with many different apps and experienced no lock ups. I too suggest you reflash again with full wipe

I'll try that later on, and like I said, only freezes if it times out while rotated to one of the sides

Oh ok didn't catch that, but I just tried it and let the screen time out with a few apps open while in landscape and nothing happened

Full wipe, reinstalled, no problems so far, but we'll see...

Think I figured it out, I'm using the aosp lock screen and somehow the ripple effect got turned back on, was still freezing after wipe, let's see if this works. Lol. Tested it a few times and no freezes yet.

Yeah that was it, having ripple enabled with aosp lock screen gives problems

I had it shut off originally, don't recall turning it back on, but maybe I did. Lol.

That fixed it.

Dev options. Window, transitions, and animator scales to .5. And turn off double tap home button for svoice. Worked well for me
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Sorry misread.
If I helped or you like what I said thank me
The real way to fix the home button lag is to go into svoice and disable home button in the settings .......its 100% faster try it and see
try it all guys nothing works ive turn off svoice and all that to .5 still nothing.

I agree, there's still a delay when waking up the phone. It's not that bad.

Seems like it is a ROM issue.
If you install a N705 ROM (like this one), you won't have this problem.

Random backing out of apps

My epic 4g touch randomly backs of of apps, its as if someone is hitting the back button while I am trying to use the phone, haven't been able to determine the issue yet, had anyone else run into this problem?

Does this seem to happen when you are in a low signal area? What apps does this happen with? Are you on a custom ROM, rooted or completely stock.
I am running custom rom cm-10-20121108-EXPERIMENTAL-d710-beta2, no particular app, seems to happen with all of them.

I have seen something like that on CM builds as well. What helped me was... A dirty flash possibly a full restore.

Updated to CM10.1 Wild in the Night 9 April 2013 build, have not noticed the problem since the update was installed at 1300hrs today. Hopefully the problem is corrected with updating to new ROM.

Was hoping it was fixed but it's doing it right now as I try to type this out, started when I was texting and is continuing to do it in this app. Acting as if someone keeps hitting the back button

Next time it happens, check your signal bars and see if it is doing it in low signal areas.

Full bars and it backed out of messaging

Think it might be my charger, seems to be only doing it when plugged in

After playing with my phone for a while with this issue, have figured out that it only does it when the phone is charging, have tried different chargers but still does the same thing

Check your port for a bent pin.

Extremely small homescreen

I'm running the PAC Man rom, and I was trying to find a file in CM's file manager. I searched for the file, and then my phone crashed and restarted. Now, the homescreen and the app drawer are extremely small. Help please?

Wipe dalvik cache and cache then flash the ROM again.
Thanks, that worked. But now, Google Play was uninstalled from my phone... Also, my WiFi signal bar shows blank, even though I'm connected.

I had similar issues with pac rom
I tried the new Jedi Mind Trick JB 2.1
phone has never worked so smooth and perfectly
even MHL HDMI output works and Bluetooth mouse and Keyboard
both didn't work with pac rom either
hoped this helps m8
That doesn't really answer my question. I would like to try to fix this before I switch ROMs.

You have to flash Gapps after dirty flashing the ROM. Sorry I didn't make that clear. I don't know why your WiFi bars are blank.
I got the store back, but the WiFi is still blank.

Blue flash upon screen on

So as of yesterday whenever I turn the screen on my phone on it will flash blue and then work like normal, occasionally a bit of grainy lines follow the blue but then everything works fine after that. I'm worried that something is starting to go bad on my phone. It's weird because it only does it whenever the screen turns on. I thought this might be a room issue but I switched from pa to task and tried multiple kernels and still no luck. It even does this upon boot so I'm thinking it must be hardware related? Any help would be appreciated

Occasionally this blue flash will not occur as well, but it's random as to whether it does or not

Have you tried going back to unrooted stock?
Just tried that now, was doing it at first but now seems to be better, could just be one of those times where it doesn't for a while and starts again though

It's doing it again:/ any ideas?

Are you on a custom rom or stock rom? If you are on a stock rom make sure you have S Voice disabled as its a major source of lag.
I am having the same issue with both. Even tried full data wipe and restore.
I'm totally stock, no root. Major lag when opening gallery and unlocking phone.

Seems like a bug within the update. Also go to settings>applications>and look to see what app is taking up valuable ram.

It seems to only affect the gallery and wake screen.
Also, after doing a full wipe, I am now getting lockups while using some apps, YouTube, I funny, and while messaging. The screen will freeze, then after about,, 30 seconds it will reboot.
Again, I'm all stock

Also major battery drain issues. When my phone hits 18% power, just the phone at idle will die in less than 30 mins.

You can try flashing, cyanogenmod 10.2 stable d2att on your phone and make sure you wipe your phone clean first before installing. This rom is definitely a battery saver on my phone. No lags whatsoever.
I'm wanting to keep the phone stock. Just curious if there was an app bogging it down or something like that.
