no it is not present, but there are no drivers for it to work

I have made some analysis regarding light sensor in ACE 2 if someone is interested:

To be precise: We have and we have not Ambient Light Sensor. [...] From hardware perspective TMD 2672 can act like proximity sensor and ALS, but not at the same time. From software perspective it is proximity sensor. Ambient Light Sensor is much simpler to be made due fact, it does not need IR diode and Prox control/integration block.
ADC and Data block are the same for both of them.

[Q] Gyroscopic camera

Or gyro stabilized camera.
My train of thought might be too naive; (phone has gyroscope, phone has camera, why not!) but really is it something possible to give to our DHDs? A videocamera with which no matter how the phone was rotated, the horizon in the recorded video will always stay horizontal. They got used in MotoGP.
Here's a video example for anyone unfamiliar with them - skip to 40seconds in
motogp.com/en/videos/2010/Rossi+debuts+Gyroscopic+OnBoard+camera
Anyone got any idea? Or maybe I should actuallt ask in general android apps.
It wouldnt be impossible but it would take quite a lot of processing power and would take a lot of time to make. And I'm not sure if anybody has that sort of time.
You sure the phone has a gyroscope? Your not confusing it with the accelerometer are you?

And that isn't the correct way to build it either.
Oh ok, thanks a lot. That provided some food for Googling on these things.
Silly marketing got me again; so a g-sensor is actually an accelerometer which is different from a gyroscope and not as accurate at measuring movement (tilt/pitch in specific). DHD has accelerometer only while iPhone 4 and upcoming Sensation are also equipped with a gyroscope (or gyro-sensor).

proximity sensor annoys me...

Can anyone tell me, how do I disable the proximity sensor when I'm not in a call...
When I operate with the system, sometimes I "fly" over the top left corner of the phone and while doing so, the screen turns off and it won't wake up automatically. I've to turn it on manually : (
Anybody?

I'm on:
[ROM][05.11.2011][WWE]Jackos S3 WM6.5 21913 + Sense 2.5/2.1|TF3D2.1 - SmartMove
Do you think that this could be ROM specific? Shall I ask in the corresponding thread..
Thanks,
McTell

Hrm, just a speculation. Jacko's is pretty good chef, so I don't think the ROM is the issue. Have others reported this problem on his ROM...?
I know there's some registry settings pertaining to the prox sensor, lemme see if I can find 'em.

Well, there is an app "Proximity Locker" - which allows me to disable it while not beeing in a call - but I need to run this app after each soft reset... kinda annoying, too : /

So have it run on boot? I dunno. Look for registry settings, I think there's some. I didn't find any, but didn't really search that hard (I don't use WinMo anymore).

Gotta be a registry setting. That's realy odd. On EnegryROM, I never had this issue.
Delete the ProximityLock.lnk from /WIndows/StartUp
Restart your device and you're ready to go!

Damn, you're too pro for such a easy task Go, go, go, search thru the registry

[Q] accelerometer problem.

Hi guys I have a problem with gio's accelerometer, i found out about this in a game: by entering *#0*# and going to sensor I noticed: while the phone is lying down still on a level surface with no vibrations accelerometer data is changing and it never stops. It is not important in normal use but in some apps and games this is realy a problem.
So any solution?
ok ...removed.!!!
Try to go Settings->Display->Horizontal calibration
Or try to change the ingame titl sensivity
On my phone accelerometer data also chanching but really a little bit.

Demanding much?
You come on a volunteer, community-based forum and complain because you haven't been answered within two days?
What troubleshooting and testing have you done?
Is it on all axis?
Does toggling the different radio have an effect?
There could very well be issues with your Gio alone.
This could also be a problem with a driver for which we don't have a source to look at.

sorry to say that,I had a bad day.
well yes. I tried anything and it is the same.
I wonder if this is because of hardware.
even in htc hero accelerometer works better than this.

How to solve proximity sensor issue

I recently had an issue regarding the proximity sensor on my DHD and I tried many different ROMs and calibration apps but none of them worked. Seems like the problem is the dirt that blocks the way of the sensor. I cleaned the grill from the dirt and everything is now OK. Hope I helped someone.

Hi have you tested the proximity calibrator app?
Setup of proximity sensor isnt the main goal of roms...
Look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951858
Set values, test it if the sensor shows "near" or "far" or adjust it more.
My DHD needs LOW = 2; HIGH = 3; and it works...
oh , and in Cyanogenmod 11 by mustaavalkosta, its already installed i think.

Yep spot on. CM11 comes with it.
Low 3 and High 5 works best for me.

I think you missed the point. The entire idea of his post was to let you know that his issue was dirt in front of the sensor.

That's what I had to do in the end as well. Remember that these phones first came out in Oct. 2010 (when I got mine ....!!) so plenty of time for dirt to build up. Check the Proximity Sensor thread for links on disassembly but I followed this site ... http://www.beardeddonkey.com/home/comments.php?y=12&m=04&entry=entry120428-040327 ... to take mine apart. Not all of it, just far enough to clean out the PS. All good after that.
thanks for the tip
i need clean my sensor
thanks man !! been modifying thresholds using Proximity Recalibrator forever with no avail ... i don't know how i forgot about cleaning the sensors :silly: :silly: you made my day !! thank you a bunch !!!!
That easy..?

Screen gets annoyingly whiter on direct sunlight or bright light

Hi! I'm having an issue, and although I have been searching, can't seem to find a solution or someone reporting this...
My screen is getting "whiter" (in the sense of the whites in the representation of the light curves, I think it can also be defined as a bump in the "gamma") when it is under direct sunlight or bright light, and as a result colours just look unfaithful and cheap, just plain awful, and I'm very sensitive to this. Don't get me wrong: I'm not talking about brightness: just screen colours representation, my auto brightness is off. When I first bought the phone I just didn't have this issue, I believe it started once I upgraded to Android Pie, maybe the developers thought this augments the readability of the screen, but I think it's just odd that this crap is mandatory and can't be disabled at all. Anyone noting this issue? WHY IS DIS? any workaround, any way of disabling it? Hope someone has an answer to at least one of these questions! Thanks!
My phone: Xiaomi A2 Lite - Android Pie - May security patch (I think May was the latest, I'm surely on the latest) - camera2 api enabled & GCam installed

That's from Xiaomi, they have it in MIUI and in the Android one, it's just to make it look better under the Sun (you can not disable it normally, you need adb)
