[Q] Another bricked KF 2, please explain - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

I followed the directions for rooting my KF 10.2.6 from Patel989's 1/30/2013 post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125628
It worked fine. Happy day!
Then I loaded TWRP using KFU and powered it off to see how TWRP worked.
It will not power on again.
I assume it's toast, true?
If so, where did I go wrong?
Still learning the hard way,
SJ

Why have you used KFU?
This post explains how to get TWRP installed on a Kindle Fire 2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36888389
This is from the 2nd to last page on the KFU post.
If it is a 10.x.x version, then you have a Kindle Fire 2nd generation. Do not attempt to use this utility. It will brick. Go to the KF2 forum.
Don't want to be harsh, but the reason people keep bricking their devices, is because they don't read enough before doing something. The creators of these tools could help the situation by adding a model check before the tool runs.

I'm a dumb noob and didn't do enough research, I suppose. I didn't realize it was a KF 2 until today when I asked about the device on the KF forum and was sent to this one. I thought a KF 2 would say it was version 2 somewhere, perhaps on the box, so I assumed it was a plain KF.
In any case, did KFU poison it?
And if so, is there a way to kick start it?
Thanks,
-SJ

i bricked my kfhd and i havent unricked it yet

Rooting Kindle Fire 6.3.1

Hi, I've recently tried rooting my KF 6.3.1 using KFU 0.9.6. My attempts did not work, it left my kindle stuck on boot screen (which i managed to fix). My question is, since my KFU approach is not working (I've tried doing this on 2 different windows machine), Is there any other way of rooting my KF? I've must've read 100 posts today and i can't find any alternative.

I read, re-read, re-re-read this and I just kept spinning myself in circles trying to understand that. Thus I tried the KFU... I swear the more I read the more confused I get about rooting this device.
now if i could figure out how to install a apk file to check that I'm rooted, that would be a start.
Maybe this will help

[Q] Can't enter Fastboot Mode

Hi,
I try to use the Kindle Fire Utility to install TWRP and FFF (in order to install CM10) on my kindle fire. However, no matter what I do after saying "The kindle has been told to reboot in Fastboot mode" and rebooting the utility gets stuck at "<waiting for device>". The kindle is just rebooting normally. One related thing is maybe that KFU says "fail opening shift: No such file or directory".
I would appreciate your help a lot. I am searching for 2 hours now the internet and at xda-developers but I coudlnt' find anything.
Thanks a lot

If this is a first gen Kindle Fire:

Everything you need should be in these as long as your Kindle is first gen. and your drivers are good.
Thanks but unfortunately it's second gen.

Then you're posting in the wrong forum the one you need is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1782 many of the methods for the first gen kindle are quite dangerous for you if not all of them.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Does that mean I can't use any of the ROMs in the kindle fire forum?
Everything here will give you a fancy little hockey puck pretty much. Sorry.

Out of curiosity, how can I tell for sure if I have a 1st or 2nd Gen. KF? I just bought it today, so I would guess it's a 2nd Gen., but there's no guarantee that it isn't one that's been sitting on a shelf for months.
My guess is it's second gen. considering Amazon stopped the selling of first gen device months ago the only way to acquire one now is if you need a first gen. device replacement.

Root help

This is the 2nd Kindle Fire 6.3.1 I've rooted. The first one works like a dream thanks to everyone here at xda, you guys also helped me root and overclock my s3. My friend asked me to do his kindle and I'm having problems I searched through the forums to no avail. I already had the driver installed and checked my device manager on windows 7 and saw that everything was working . I opened up ADB 0.9.6 saw that I was online and rooted it, everything went fine. When I tried to boot into recovery nothing happens well almost. When the kindle fire logo is up it flickers and I think I'm seeing the recovery screen but it's only for a fraction of a second. I can't get the triangle to pop up. I also don't have the SU in my app drawer. I have tried everything I can think of. Any ideas?
Update to 1.4a firefirefire.
Reflash and see if that works.

If tried fff still no change. From what I've read it has something to do with the bootloader. What's even more strange is I grabbed my wife's fire and it rooted fine. I think it's an evil kindle lol

Are you sure that your friend's kindle is 6.3.1 and not 10.whatever?
Did you try the whole KFU process again?
And also, now the bootloader is the blue and white kindle fire logo and not the triangle, right?

Kindle Fire HD 8.9 Problem

I attempted to install firefirefire on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 while installing it, it rebooted my Kindle twice now the kindle wont come on at all, does anyone have any recommendations on what I can do or do I need to just scrap it and buy a new one? Thanks for the help in advance.
This thread should be able to help you. Sounds like the process failed somewhere and it got corrupted, but that doesn't make it a brick. Also, did you have a full charge when you started?

Actually, installing FireFireFire in the Kindle Fire HD absolutely without question turns it into a brick.

kindle fire 2 stuck at bootlogo

ok this is my situation...i got a kindle fire or kindle fire 2 off someone and when i got it i couldnt get passed the White and Orange Kindle fire logo so i decided to search these forums up and down trying different things...decided to buy a factory cable and i get to the Fastboot screen with the green blinking light and i get no further...i have never seen the home screen or anything..just that darn logo until the factory cable came in now im only seeing the fastboot screen...so im guessing this think cant be fixed.
im running windows 7 64bit and i have a linux live usb already set up.
i just wanna get this thing back to stock if its possible. if someone could possibly help me or if you need more info then by all means im here to listen or give the information needed to get this thing working again.
oh and i forgot the device comes up in the device manager as otter2-prod-04
i see posts from everyone thats rooting there device and messing it up that way...this is a stock device and the people that had it i can least say wasnt smart enough to even attempt to root or anything like that.
if someone could add my to skype to see if we can troubleshoot my problem that would be great. because waiting for responses on here is just taking more time...no offense to anyone im just anxious and would like to see whether or not this kf2 can be fixed or just throw it out the window lol
skype name = kenny-jackal
ok i got the ADB to work by installing the kindle fire HD drivers...so now i need to find a program to use to get this thing recovered now

The RootPlus tool looks like it will restore partition images, which I believe you can download from another thread.

SoupKit (again)...When you're fed up with trying to get ADB to connect in Windows
10.2.3 images, as long as they are still available, are in the second post.

thx dude ill look into this and post back if i get stuck again
Root Plus does not come with saved partition images. Though, it will restore partition images saved using the tool or from other sources. If you choose to use a set of saved partition images from another source, make absolutely sure you are using the correct ones for your device or it will surely brick your device, permanently.
