Vmail for 10.1? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there one? Does it work well?

Voicemail? Or is there an app called vmail?
I've been using Google voice. I switched over from the Sprint VVM when I made the move to CM10. I don't know if VVM works on 10.1 builds. GV works well and I don't get the extra text 9016 notification anymore like earlier CM versions.

Yeah I was wondering if there was a voicemail app that worked. I just called it vmail for short. I'm tired of those 9016 notifications and having the app is just so convenient.

Yeah, I've been pretty happy with Google voice. It seems to function as well as Sprint's network allows.

I'm checking it out. Are u forced to use its other features or can you just set it up so u only use voicemail?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app

Just voicemail. I can't remember exactly what to select, but just pay attention when you set it up. You can change settings easily from your Google account on a computer if needed. Do a quick search on how to setup GV without it taking over, that should give you the info you need.

Try Heywire from the market.
If you are needing to send messages via WiFi to someone else with either a smart phone or computer you might both try using Google Talk or other instant messaging app.

I use Textfree. Its free, uses wifi and they even give you real phone number that your friends can save and text you when they need to. Works great for me

G voice

Anyone else having issues with Google voice "hijacking" your SMS messaging? I tried adjusting the settings on the GVoice web portal and still having issues...

New Google Voice app fixes this issue.

Voicemail Indicator stuck

Wiped phone and used ODIN to flash stock ICS and have the standard voicemail indicator that won't go away. I was using GVoice before and have it running again and nothing I do get rid of the indicator. Anyone else?

Have someone leave you a new voicemail, then delete it. This will clear the notification...

Call your self from another phone and leave a voice mail and then delete it. Should fix the little problem
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Also after you delete don't hang up immediately. Let it get back to the main menu. Fixed it for me when I had same problem.

I did that before and it didn't do it. Maybe now that GVoice is back on I switch it then switching back? Hmmm.
Edit:
Nope. No dice. My phone is always on GVoice. Does not switch over. I also don't get any settings options for either from voicemail carrier select. Grayed out for both.

Can you disable g voice? Also holding down 1 on keypad should let you call your voicemail and let you listen/delete it
Sent from Samsung Galaxy SIV
I am starting to think that I cannot. I had switched off of GVoice and voicemail still went through it. And like I said I am not getting the option for settings in either...

Go to the g voice app and sign out. Have you tried that?
Sent from Samsung Galaxy SIV
No option for signing out. My voicemail go through GVoice and I check them through GVoice. Which is fine. Minus the default notification.

Got it. Called voicemail and sent a message to myself directly from there. Then deleted it and the indicator went away.

If you login into google voice through the webpage, you can disable it for your phone number. Then it will revert to TMobile.

[EDIT] Never mind. Fixed.
Carry on.

How to get rid of google voice settings?

So I tried to see what google voice does exactly and I seen its not necessary for me so I uninstalled it but noticed that its settings are still on. So I reinstalled it and went in the settings and signed out which was supposed to take it off completely but its still there. When I get a phone call and answer I always have to press "1" to answer. And I get txts and e mails of my voice mails which I don't like. How can I get rid of this completelyyy?

this is normal.. you have to login to GV in a web browser and change the settings.

Didn't actually work. Still have to press 1 when I answer a call.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
You have to change call screening options.

Native SMS app work on Wi-Fi only

Is there a way to make the stock sms app work on just Wi-Fi? I no longer have data service and I miss that themed app. Goggle Voice works but it's butt ugly.
I'm on cm10.1 and the latest epic nitest kernel.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
You would think this is possible
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Theres always text+
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda app-developers app
I was hoping there was a setting or something. I mean the native messaging app is all themed out and I hate the fact it won't work over WiFi. Google voice does and so do others...
Thanks for the reply though, I'll take a look at text+
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Yes all these programs run through internet data rather than the old school cellular radio which SMS unfortunately is. Sorry dude, but text+ is your best shot.
