Request for Spotify Community Kudos for RT App - Windows RT General

Hey Guys,
I know this is a little weird to post on XDA, but figured it was still worth it. I know we have the flash web hack (thanks Prax) for getting Spotify running, but it would be nice to get a native app added. Spotify seems to use an online "voting" system in their member forums to determine where to spend dev resources. With that in mind, Spotify users, if you head over to this link:
http://community.spotify.com/t5/ideas/v2/ideapage/blog-id/ideaexchange/article-id/11293
and add a "kudos" to this post we can all help raise their awareness of the need for an RT client. I didn't create this post in the community, just figured I'd bring awareness to it over here.

Looks like Spotify will not release an app for Windows RT and Windows 8 according to this answer I had from support
Dear sir,
It is not up to Spotify to develop programmes for other operating systems. The problem here lies solely with Windows and their refusal to make an app for Spotify.
The same is reflected with their OS on phones, it took them a while to make a Spotify app, by which time many users had left us.
Though there is small scale success with users downloading the WindowsPhone app for WiNRT, I would not get your hopes up.
Try it here : http://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/store/app/spotify/10f2995d-1f82-4203-b7fa-46ddbd07a6e6 but know that is it not made nor designed by Spotify.
If it does work, I hope you will stay on board. Of it refuses to work even then, do have a look on the market for a good alternative.
Sorry about all this,

I ditched Spotify and started with XBox music. I'm very angry that a respected (not anymore) company uses these arguments. I'll hope they get bankrupted for this kind of arrogance .

They are bull****ting you. It is *solely* in the hands of spotify to develop the app for their system, its only because of their reluctance to do so that microsoft eventually did one on the phone. Also windows phone apps are entirely incompatible with Windows RT, they are only compatible with windows 8 if you have the windows phone SDK and the windows phone emulator but you need the source code to the app to use the emulator and its damn slow.

We are lucky users.
Spotify isn't able to create an app, but there is one of our forummembers who did an awsome job creating an app for us

Spotify to WM!

http://www.techradar.com/news/internet/spotify-heading-to-tv-consoles-and-mobiles-590398
Spotify is set to launch a new toolkit this week, opening up its application programming interface (API) in order to encourage developers to build the service into a range of comms and entertainment devices such as mobiles, consoles and TVs.
Someone who arises?
This woud be AWSOME!
Please, anybody?!
Would love spotify in my mobile!
That would be a fantastic app for the Touch HD. If you check their homepage, they have been advertising for developers with Windows Mobile experience, presumably for exactly this reason.
I can't imagine iPhone users will ever see Spotify - it would kill sales through iTunes!
According to Swedish IDG they will focus on iPhone and phones based on Symbian. So I think it will take some time before we see this for the Windows Mobile platform. And it will also be premium service, which will cost a few bucks.
This is the article translated into English with Google Translate:
http://translate.google.com/transla...ir-en-betaltjanst&sl=sv&tl=en&history_state0=
please somebody develop this
PLEASE - Spotify is one of the best things i've seen in AGES - if someone could make this - I WOULD PAY MONIES!
I'm pretty sure Spotify won't allow any 3rd party applications to connect to their service. At least not if you don't have a premium account.
yep, premium customers are able to connect to spotify with unofficial clients.
I've created a survey for peeps to fill out, I'll then forward it onto the guys at Spotify for them to see the results. Hopefully there is enough interest to persuade them to develop one!!

I have been working on a Windows Mobile Spotify client called mySpot.
The first alpha version is complete and I have uploaded it to the forum today.

Start an open source project - anyone want to join?

Hey guys,
I'm a Windows Phone dev who's thinking of maybe starting an open source WP7 project, if I can find a few other people who'd be interested and if anyone has an idea for an application which people would want?
Drop a response here if you're interested
I would but I just started learning programming,. But I would be a tester fir sure.

audio hub for omnia of course with equalizer please thx
Windows Phone needs a good podcast app.
I'd love an app to rival DoggCatcher on Android. It would allows you to subscribe to feeds, download episodes, and listen to them, all within the app.
I plan on working on this if/when I get my Windows Phone device.
yeah would love to see a decent podcast app that can download podcast rather than just stream.
Podcast apps on marketplace is great but with 1Gb limit on data cant do alot of streaming
GPS application with offline map
I would be interested in working on this. And by the way, SlapDash Podcasts lets you download/subscribe/stream podcasts, I don't know why it's less popular than the other ones in the Marketplace.
I will be a beta tester if you want.. I know a little about programming but not so confident..

I am willing to help you if I can. just let me know.
shinaku,
Are you a seasoned developer, or just starting to learn?
I was thinking of a simple application that could prove to be a bit challenging to implement. Specifically I am thinking of a remote touch pad application. You will connect this app (client) to a computer, which has a service installed. The app will send mouse commands like move, click, etc to the service, which in turn will control the mouse cursor on the computer.
What do you think about this?
I would love to see a Gameboy Advance emulator. I have no skill at programming, but I can help with the graphics (already have some layouts created from my work on the Zune HD gameboy emulator).
I will volunteer my device for testing if you need. Unfortunately I don't have the time to co-op a open source project. Best of luck though.

I recommend MusicShark a GrooveShark Client

I am not the dev but there is a free GrooveShark client out in the MarketPlace so I thought it should get more exposure.
It's very functional and just needs a tiny bit more polish. The sound quality is great even through 3G.
MOD EDIT: Please post app recommendations in WP7 General, as the Apps and Games section is for app release's only as stated in the sticky I made.
THanks man. Been waiting for a GrooveShark client.
Awesome. Seems to work great over 3G though it needs a better way of adding multiple search results to playlists/queue.
Nice. And free !
The interface just needs to be more polished indeed.
Interesting. Too bad Grooveshark isn't going to support WP7. They are open to the idea so with enough support you never know. Keep bugging them via forums and twitter.
Where I can I download MusicShark.xap? I am aware that is not longer in the marketplace available

I think I might have it at home. Pity I restored my phone to NoDo not realising I couldn't unlock it again.
bah, I hope GS isnt deliberately flagging these clients if they dont plan to produce their own. Methinks they made a deal with a competitor :/
Here's the xap
I installed the xap file on my windows phone (E900 7.10.7720.68), but it didn't work. Loading failed with a message, "An error was presented, you have internet conectivity?"
So, I decompile the xap and found out, the server to get the grooveshark data from grooveshark's server is no longer working.
Can anyone use this app?
For people who really love music,
I would recommend the "The Hype" app for WP7.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145616
It gives access to all the Hype Machine catalog. Hypem.com is a great & free music blog aggregator.
You can make a search, select the songs you like, make a playlist (which will also be available on your PC).
for instance... Here's my playlist (indie, The Smiths, Mountain Goats, Josh Rouse, New Order, Wedding Presents, Balmhorea, etc...): http://hypem.com/#!/eric_sc2

[Q]Cuttherope.ie as app for WP7?

hi,
Is it possible to make an app which plays cut the rope from the website like a facebook website shortcut with new interface?
sorry for my bad english it is not my favourite language
I'm shocked that this game is not available for wp7 yet..... So they use IE9 but, no WP7 ?
Still a fun game to play in IE9...
Yes, i heard of that game a while ago and since 2 weeks i got to know it better on Windows 8 and now i want to play it on my windows phone without IE
There are some people who take the facebook mobile page an make a new interface for that with other buttons...
So someone could take the cuttherope.ie website and give it an app-like interface so we could "cut" the rope an not click ^^
Yea, I played through the IE 9 version (got to the end, I want more). So even making the IE9 version into a WP7 program does not give you access to the full game.
I suggest that everyone who has WP7 email the dev and ask for them to make the game for WP7, their support email is support @ zeptolab DOT com (I want them to make a game for us, not give them tons of spam) . I emailed them already...
The only way to get this is to get to the dev. Have everyone you know email them requesting it for WP7 and you might be able to buy it....
EMAIL THEM !!!!!
It looks like they have, or are working on, a Windows 8 version. Depending how Windows 8ish Windows Phone 8 is, they might be waiting on that.
would be nice to have as a native app ... 1+ to this thread's questions...

Windows 9 On RT

Hi,
Like you know, windows will release a beta of w9 in somes days, and they said that they'll do an hybrid system for all platform. Did you think there'll be an emulator or anything different to run somes x86 app like a "computer" ?
We have awaiting fo a while a jailbreak for 8.1, but if w9 give us the opportunity to run x86 programs it'll be better, hope they'll release this soons to take a look.
What do you think about this?
Regards
No, only metro apps will be universal, not x86 ones
mod edit
On topic. I can't see why Microsoft would give us the ability to run apps outside of the Metro sandbox. Although I am surprised that they don't try and entice the open source community into contributing to the store. We all know that they'd love to see more quality apps on there.
Hello my friends @andTab Even if "somebody" would give you the jailbreak for RT 8.1, I bet you won't be really happy with that:
Ofc it would give some great possibilities, but its not like you can run many x86-programs on JB RT, because you can only emulate it and the performance is,....
[how to say it nice],..... not optimal xD
you can hardly play games like "Heroes of Might and Magic 3" but that is the maximum. As I understand you that wouldn't be enough (plz correct me if im wrong)
But for users loving to play around and start i.e. JDownloader with a loadingtime of ~5min; or those, using a lot of pure .NET 4 programs it would be really cool.
[But most of them are happy enough with a jailbroken RT].
Why am I writing this?
I just wanted to ask you politely, if you could edit your post, because it sounds really offensive.
BUT I also wanted to be cooperative, and give you some informations...
Ontopic:
I think the hope, that ms would be nice to us, is gone...
I strongly suggest you, to dual-boot WinRT8.0-JB & WinRT8.1 !!!
joke:[until somebody tell us how to "open the bootloader" and boot for example a linux-distro. (perhaps via soldering a hardware-flasher and reflash that damn thing )]
Cheers
Blade
I removed the majority of the unnecessary and negative comments. Lets try to keep the rest of this thread on track now please.
It will be Windows 10
1 windows will work on all the devices, laptop, phone, and TAB!!!!
9 or 10, I don't have a lot of hope right now for Windows on ARM... I keep hearing rumors that unlike x86 Windows 10, the ARM version (Windows RT) is going to be "combined with windows phone" whatever that means, and loose the desktop. Sounds like a dumb-ed down phone OS to me... and nothing like what I'd want on my Surface RT, and definitely not what I'd hoped for which was basically an ARM version of the full-blown Windows 10 OS, with and unlocked dekstop, windowed store apps, etc.
But, since Microsoft hasn't actually demoed the ARM version of Threshold I guess we don't know anything for sure.
@mark manning Can you move this to General please. It should not be in DEV/Hacking
