[Q] Accidentally deleted Gallery app - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Somehow I uninstalled the gallery program from my Ace II. I am unable to find information about the app anywhere, in settings/apps or in the market. This phone is not rooted. It seems like it should be impossible to delete this. How can I get it back?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sick of Gallery - replacement?

I'm pretty sick of the Android/Cooliris Gallery app. It's just a pain to use, and forcecloses more than is acceptable. Can anyone suggest how to install another one, maybe HTC, Motorola or Samsungs version? I didn't mind the HTC gallery when I used a Sense rom, but I've not tried Moto or Sammy.
Where would I find such a thing, and would it install just like any other apk?
Try quickpic from the market. It fast, simple and if I remember correctly free.

Just downloaded Quickpic, and I'm likin it a lot - thanks for the suggestion
You can use system app remover and remove it from the rom. After you've done that you can use the alternate gallery app that comes on the phone ir find a replacement online, but the tom should come with two gallery apps if im not mistaken.
I've just used Titanium to uninstall the standard 3D gallery, and as above, currently enjoying the speed/simplicity of Quickpic

[APP] Touchwiz Launcher 4.5

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883
Found this on Galaxy s2 forums.. I KNEW everyone would find this useful as a home replacement and appreciate the added customization over stock Touchwiz. Root access is required if your device comes with Touchwiz. This is Fr4gg0r and Swiftwork's work, not my own. Anyhow, check it out!
Yeah, I've been using this for quite a while on my OG Epic 4G.
Just FYI, install TW4Manager and do a check for latest stable version and it will install TW 4.5 for you.
*EDIT*
Install instructions
Before installation you need:
1. Root access.
2. An alternate launcher installed in case of installation failure. (the stock phone has Sprint ID launcher)
3. Backup and Uninstall: TouchWiz30Launcher.apk (I used SDXStockappremover but you can also use TitaniumBackup)
4. Install TW4Manager
To Install TouchWiz 4.5:
~Launch TW4Manager (fyi only runs in portrait mode)
~Scroll Down to "Check for Updates" -select
~Select "Latest stable version" (you will be warned that you should have alternate launcher installed)
~TouchWiz 4.5 will automatically download and install
Notes
~The default homescreen dock will be setup for 5 icons. To add icons go to appdrawer>menu>edit and then you can drag and drop your new dock icons
~Some preinstalled widgets will not work out of the box. To fix this you'll need to backup and uninstall them (such as DualClock.apk, SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor.apk, TouchWizCalendar.apk) You can then go into TW4Manager>Widgets>SGS2 widgets-by randomguy123; select your widgets and install; After you install you need to restart Touchwiz in order to use the widget, otherwise it'll show an error when you try to use the widget.

It says that I should be using something other than touch wiz when updating for the first time. Is it ok to go ahead and update if I'm using touchwiz?

No, uninstall touchwiz using ti backup and then install the twmanager
Does this have hardware acceleration like the stock launcher?
It doesnt say in the thread but it runs exactly the same as the stock launcher except way more options. I havent noticed any speed difference.
If you like touchwiz, its a no brainer.

how bout in your heading put ROOT so people know they cant just install this.
So I uninstalled TWlauncher through Titanium Backup, but when i then install TW4 Manager apk I still get the message that I need to install over a non touchwiz launcher. What am I doing wrong?

I need the stock gallery too. I didn't realise that I cannot use quickpic to assign pictures to my lockscreen and now I can only use the default wallpapers.
I made a backup using titanium before I deleted it but for some reason the stock gallery won't restore from the backup.
can anyone send to me as well? I also uninstalled the stock gallery app. Many thanks.
To all. To be honest... downloading quickpic from the market is better than stock gallery . Have a look
looks like an iphone but powered by android baby!!!!
Like some said, you need it for wallpaper settings. Some options are gone when you uninstall the gallery app.

Have you tried setting your lock screen picture without the stock gallery installed? That's where I ran into trouble. Re-installing the stock app fixed mine.
The problem is in Lock screen wallpaper
You can't change it if u don't have stock app...
P.S Thank You for the link !
Yes, I have too managed to uninstall the stock gallery app, please can someone pm it. TIA
The 3D Gallery app is quite funky, I just need to change my lock screen image.

I have the 'unkown devices blah blah' ticked!
I'm just puzzled as t why it won't install.

Install Stock ICS Messaging app? (mms.apk?)

So I tried looking for a solution and so far havent found anything
I like stock touchwiz (so far) mostly because of the Motion options Samsung introduced (AOKP and CM9 have yet to implement these)
I really liked the stock messaging app from ICS (coming from a Galaxy Nexus) and was wondering if there is a way of getting it on the S3
I tried pushing the stock "mms.apk" to the /system/app folder but it keep saying there is a conflict and cannot install (installing the stock gallery.apk worked though)
The S3 messaging app is called "Secmms.apk" , but even if i rename that and try installing the stock mms.apk it just said the install failed
Does anyone have any clue on how to install the stock ICS messaging app?
Thanks in advance!

BTW, if you want the calendar (ICS version) let me know. It works too!!!
Thanks for posting that. Worked perfectly over here.
Any chance of getting the stock contacts app or will that take more effort than it's worth?
Now that the issue is solved, can someone upload the vanilla apk for the gallery please
And yeah, calendar would be nice too.

hey rumz82
can you share ICS calendar?
can someone post the ics msg app screenshot...? i want to try it too...
Contacts is part of the dialler so you'll get into a mess if you try to change that, I did. I also changed the keyboard by putting in the latinIME.apk and then switching to it as the default input method. I find the stock keyboard quite unreliable.
If you use the CM gallery, as already posted, you can set the background screen image to be scrollable at the right resolution.

Re add it in menu, setting, security, lockscreen, shortcuts... works Fine

thanks for tweeting suroot!
I'm referring to the big circle with the sms icon that appears on the right center of the lockscreen that we used to get then a new sms arrives - then we drag it from the left to the right to open the sms application, that way we don't have to sacrifice one of the 4 shortcut slots for sms app
that's the one I was referring to, and it's gone now!

Thanks for that but I am having trouble replacing the Email (Exchange) app from my stock rooted S3.
Do you have to have a deoxed ROM to replace the Email app for the stock one?
I cannot replace email.apk as there is simply none in the ROM, only an Exchange.apk

I have quickpic but when i try to set lock screen wallpaper i cant because theres no gallery. Is it this from your dropbox? com.sec.android.gallery3d.apk
Use Image 2 Wallpaper app from play store. Allows you to set a wallpaper without cropping the image, or you can crop it if you want. Definitely better than the stock gallery implementation
But the problem is that I need the gallery apk to set the lock screen wallpaper, not the wallpaper.

You can extrct the gallery from your ROM zip.
