Any suggestions for a good FM radio/tuner? - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

I want an FM radio/tuner. I just reROMed my phone to Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, and lost the original FM radio app. I don't use mobile internet, so can't stream stations, so I need a regalar FM radio.
I searched Google Play, but they all seem to be streaming apps, except FM Two 0: which says it won't run on my phone as it doesn't have reckogised RDS hardware. FM Radio by Sutton Shin, doesn't do anything, just sits there saying FM Radio is being launched. Please wait...
Spirit FM Radio is a "pay for" app, which I don't have problem with, but would like to know if it actually works on the Gio.

SPIRITFM works fine

Thanks, I'll give it a go.

I tried all apps avaliable for Gio and SpiritFM is the only one that works other than the stock radio app.

I also tried lot's of radio apps, but the only one's i liked are TuneIn Radio Pro and XiiaLive. TuneIn seems to be the best with unlimited radio stations and new ones added periodically. If you want it free Xiia live iyour choice.
But i advice you to try TuneIn Radio Pro ( it gets lot's of local radio stations too).

[Q] - Why does FM Radio need Bluetooth?

Might have been asked before but... I tried out the FM radio app on CM7 yesterday and it turns on the Bluetooth radio. Why does this happen and is it necessary? Bluetooth is such a battery hog that I will probably never use it again.
Decided to use Pandora while cuting the grass instead.
thats weird because the stock fm app just needs headohones pluged in
What I mean is when you open the app it turns on the bluetooth radio and if you turn off the radio it kills the FM radio.
Same here. CM7 FmRadio uses Bluetooth to capture signal .... so if you close the bluetooth while litening to Radios , it will also kill the radio.....
I don't see something logic in this..... Really wish for an asware....
I do believe the Bluetooth and FM Radio Reciever are on the same chip. This may just be some trickery to get the FM Radio to work properly.
Bluetooth and fm reciever are on the same chip and in order for fm to be on chip has to be active and because fm doesnt have a control switch (on off setting) it activates Bluetooth instead thus making fm radio work.

I don't think there is source for fm radio so this is how they made it work by reverse engineering it. Just like they did with wimax before the code was open sourced.

[Q] FM Radio CM7.1, Scan stations?

I just rooted and flashed CM7.1. It's working perfectly and is blazing fast.
I need to take a few trips to Canada in the next couple weeks. Normally for my radio needs I would use streaming radio (car FM radio is broken in my 99 Accord, aux works fine), but since I want to avoid data roaming charges that's not an option.
I tested out the FM Radio and it works just fine. Strong signal and everything. The only problem is I can't scan for stations. I tried Spirit FM but the scan function doesn't seem to work.
Anyone got a solution for me?
I use TuneIn Radio so I can listen to NPR on the way to work. I just realized you can browse stations by country too! May want to check it out.

This doesn't use FM it uses data, so it's not what he's looking for.

Record FM RADIO from app

I'm running gingerbread and I want to record fm radio from the stock app. But there seems to be no option like that. I don't want to use internet radio, and I've tried spirit fm, there isn't recording option for my audio method. So, basically I want a record the fm radio station while listening to the radio. Any possible way or app can do this?

FM chip

Doe`s anyone know if the Galaxy Note 3 T Mobile device has the FM radio chip in it or not. I have searched T Mobile and have googled
but nothing positive or negative whether it has it not. I want to use the next radio app but the app say`s it can`t access my FM radio receiver.
Can anyone help please.
Thankyou.
The Note 3 will not support Next Radio due to the lack of a built-in configurable FM tuner.
most stations have their own app or an app that has their station in it. i know ive seen some local radio stations here that has their own app
Yes the phone has an FM chip but it's not active. We've looked into and worked on installing the correct BCM driver for the Broadcom chip, but so far there is no way to get it active.
