So.. I don't mean to sound like a troll at all, so please don't take it this way... Just a serious question...
When you are on a call... You can use the volume rocker to lower your in call volume. Have you tried that?
Also, rooting in and of itself shouldn't cause any changes to the phone other than granting super user privileges.

Another option would be do a factory reset and see what that does for you.

First thing I thought of too. Why not just lower the volume?

[Q] call volume increase

I have noticed that the call volume is way too low on my t-Mobile galaxy s2. If I use google voice to call it seems a little better but still quiet. Is there any way to increase the volume? The *#*#197328640#*#* method does not work. There are no options in the sounds section. They all say "menu not exist."
Is there a way to increase call volume?
Go into settings>call and check hearing aid compatibilty. See if that helps

Ahh yes, that did help a little. Thank you!
However, it is still way too quiet to hear when there is any background noise
Will it be possible to increase the sound once the phone can be rooted?
Im sure that all things of that nature will be addressed. I do have to say though that my earpiece is plenty loud enough so maybe yours is just gonna be quiet. Idk

Weird this is one of the clearest, loudest phones I've ever had
I'd ask to test a demo unit in store and make sure your phone isn't defective.

I'd agree with the sound being loud. Its pretty loud for me and I'm thinking you should try another one.

In call volume too LOUD

Talking on the phone practically makes my ears bleed it is so LOUD. Does anyone know of an app that allows you to lower the volume beyond what the normal settings allow for? Is there any other way to accomplish this task? Voodoo sound doesnt seem to make any difference on call volume, even when I am using headphones on the call. Thanks!

I think that controls the mic gain, not the earpiece.

I have always been able to adjust the call volume via the side volume controls, when in a call
Ie: when on a call, turn the volume down the same way you would the ringer using the side buttons, and instead of seeing the media volume change, you should see incall volume adjusted

Yeah I do that but even at the lowest setting it is obnoxiously loud.

maybe your ears are just overly sensitive or something is messed up on your phone, rom, kernel, something... wipe and fresh flash see if your problem persists. I can turn the volume down below my level of hearing, but I also have slightly damaged ears from too much gun-play without hearing protection.
I would love to know why its loud.....cause i want to make mine louder....i think im going deaf

Switching to CM7 seems to have fixed the issue somewhat though the volume controls in call are a bit eratic now. I am pretty sure it was rom related as it happened to me on 2 of marcusant's roms. Maybe he likes loud calls lol.

Try the volume+ app in the market. He has free and paid versions but you can get the paid verszion for free on his website.

I believe the fix that worked for me was to disable hifi record in the voodoo control settings. Hope this helps!
Record settings in voodoo seem only to control mic gain (or mic loss, when I enable them no one can hear me! ). My earpiece is also obnoxiously loud in calls- on every GB rom I have tried. I would definitely like a fix for this.
No amount of wiping and flashing between multiple GB roms has ever fixed this.

disabling the Voodoo hi-fi play and record settings definitely fixed the loud call audio problem for me in gingerbread on the epic, sorry it's not working for you.

If you think this phone's speaker is to low, try using an HTC phone! Their speakers are pathetic!

This phone has great speaker volume ! if you think this is bad, the HTC Sensation must permanently be speaker less in your possession
I came from the sensation and the speaker was pathetic. GS2 blows it. Although i would still like it louder lol

Any updates on this? Maybe using service mode? I can get into service mode with *#*#197328640#*#* but I cant make any changes that do anything (actually one time I made it so speaker or handset did not work at all but a restart fixed it).

Try louder volume hack or volume + from the market. Just be warned you can eff up the speaker permanently by altering the stock levels. Then you will be even happier with a blown mobile speaker lol.

Having the same problem here.
Did the update now call volume is low. All volume n the phone is turn up tho.
Was searching online and came up with this.
must be rooted.
Use Root Explorer
At the top right hand corner switch from mount r/o to r/w
Go to Systems/build.prop
At the bottom of build.prop text file there is a line;
ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps= 10
Ex: If number is 100 change to 10
save, mount r/o
Reboot
If that line is not in your build.prop then just add it to the bottom.
That seem to have work for me.

Adjust volume when phone is locked

Hi,
Is there any way to enable volume adjustment when the phone is locked? (using volume keys on the phone or on a headset)
When I was using CM on my old Nexus S I was able to do this.
I'm on Wicked v7 ROM, but I think this was the same also on stock.
Thanks
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
I actually want the opposite to happen. I don't want someone being able to mute my phone without me knowing. Running BeanStalk
I'm talking about the media volume actually. When I'm listening to music I would like to be able to raise or lower the volume without unlocking the phone.

You should be able to. I'm on Wicked v7 and can raise/lower volume when screen shut off and phone is lock.
Either with the buttons on the phone or headphones.
You could even skip to next or previous track with settings in Wicked Control.
Is there any setting to enable this?
I know about track control, but I'm more interested in volume.

I don't think you have to do anything, it just work like that. I don't remember having to enable it or anything.

Yeah it works fine just tapping up or down. I use my phone for music more than I use it for anything else and that and long press to skip are crucial to me. I'm running wicked 7 now as well

I am fully stocked.
When the phone is locked, to turn down the volume I just use the volume buttons, they work just fine.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I've gone in and disabled the loud volume warning in Xposed AND Wanam, and it isn't helping.
I'm wondering if those of us having difficulties chose something when installing with Aroma that was different from the people having no issues. Is there something we could have done differently on install? I'm starting to get really frustrated. 90% of what I use my phone for is music.
Also, are the other people having problems using the Music2sD feature from Xposed? Could that be creating an issue somewhere?
Note: When the screen is off, you cannot adjust the volume continuously by long holding the button. You have to press it multiple times separately to step thru the volume levels! It's a supposed safety measure so you dont blast it while trying to pull the phone out, which happened to me alot on my old phone. Maybe it works for some of you but u didn't notice because you only got +1 step?

I don't think it has anything to do with Xposed, since the issue was there even before I installed it. (I only installed it to try to SOLVE the issue)
