Thanks for your reply!! so you have used this method to make and receive calls?

I'm going to have to go ahead and dash your hopes *temporarily*. Currently none of the kindle fire 2 roms support wired headsets. They're working on it.
However, if you're using the stock kf2 software, then yes. Any voip Android app that supports calling out to phone numbers will work with a wired headset that has a Mic

[Q] How to activate Bluetooth on Kindle Fire with CM9

I have been all over xda looking for a way to get Bluetooth working on the Kindle Fire so that I can use PDAnet to tether it to my phone. Last I've heard is that the Fire contains the BT chip and it might or might not be wired correctly. Any help would be truly appreciated!

I dont think any roms manage to the bluetooth working. Why dont you need a bluetooth anyway? Kindle has wireless, turn your phone into a wireless hotspot and you will be fine.
Is there a way to do that for free?

I don't get you why do you need to pay for wireless hotspots from your own phone

If you look around you'll find some threads with more recent information (some posted by me if you want to search from my posts). In a nutshell, the early reviewers were probably wrong, the chip in the wireless module is a TI WL1270B though it was incorrectly and repeatedly referenced to as a TI WL1271. The only information I could find says that the WL1270B chip, like the WL1270, is 802.11 b/g/n only.

I'm sorry I was once told it was something that had to be paid for. I never did research on it because I ever counted it as an option...my bad

Check around. Android phones usually need root. Wireless tether for root users works well.

I have mine running Energy™ICS CM9 Kang ROM Themed and OnLive gaming system works great on it. The problem is I need an input device to play about half of my games and OnLive has an amazing bluetooth controller. I have checked all over online and it seems that we need a Kernel that would support BT. Any chance people have a work around to get the OnLive system to activate the controller?
You dont need bluetooth

Wrong forum. You are asking about the 2nd gen kindle fire, right? There's its own forum for it, so check it out.

sorry dude no mic
You need a headset with a microphone built in. That's the only way to do it at this point.

Thanks OP I was wondering the same thing. Too bad it doesn't have a mic but for $199 the Kindle Fire is still a steal.

Linking BT keyboards

I have an old Logitech PlayStation 3 Cordless MediaBoard Pro. Now that we have root, is there anyway to get this thing to pair with the Fire TV? Any BT related files anything of that nature...
Thanks in advance!

I have been trying to link this one, I cannot get it to work. I would like this one for the simple fact that it has a mouse pad built in. however, I have two more which came with USB dongles, those two work.

Do most bluetooth keyboards work out of the box on the Fire TV?
I have the Motorolla KZ500, with a combo slide-out touchpad. It is connecting to the Fire TV using the sideloaded settings.apk, but it does not do anything.
any ideas or suggestions?
Has anyone successfully used their phone as a BT keyboard? I know there are apps for this in the play store but I cannot get the phone (nexus 5) or the firetv to see each other.

Somehow, I'm thinking that wasn't a BT dongle at all, but just an RF non-BT keyboard/mouse dongle.
Unless Logitech don't know what kind technology they use, it is definitely BT

It's not one of those Unifying dongles, is it? Those aren't BT.

Generic Bluetooth Keyboards

I just got my new fire TV this evening. I have already rooted and installed the play store.
I was disappointed to find out that generic Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combinations do not pair if they require a pass code (I have a RT-MWK02).
Has anyone tried syncing the keyboard with an android phone, backing up "Bluetooth parings" with titanium backup, then restoring that backup on the fire TV?

I've read the bluetooth version or pin something matters. I mean my Logitech Dinovo Mini synced up with 0 effort. Plugged it in, held the sync buttons, then it worked.
Do you have the bluetooth adapter plugged into the Fire?

Hey did you find any solution to the problem? My bluetooth keyboard/touchpad is on the way..
I bought it specifically for FTV & it would be a disappointment if it doesn't work.
If you read the wiki for firetv with xbmc there is a nice list of "usb" compatible keyboard and touchpad combos. meaning non bluetooth

Unfortunately I did not find a solution. I have been using droidmote for now hoping someone figures out how to pair devices that require a pairing code

Mouse Toggle for Fire TV w/ 5.2.1.0

Is anyone else having issues with Mouse Toggle for Fire TV working with 5.2.1.0? I can't seem to get the app on phone to respond to be used. It says everything is "OK" but the app doesn't change to be usable. Also, my stick is not rooted. Not sure if that makes a difference?

I installed it last night and it worked fine
My only problem is I have the game controller not the remote. I had to barrow the neighbors remote to test the app.

why you not use a real BT Mouse or Bluetooth Mouse/KB in your rooted Smartphone? Work like a charm. All other will at one day blacklisted by Amazon.. this cant blacklisted!

Can you specify which device or android version you are using? i faced the same problem on my Android 4.3 and i downgrade to a previous problem which solved the problem.

You have to install the Installer APK from the store on your Phone or Tablet first and then start it
Then select in the app your Fire TV IP address and sideload the Main APK to your Fire TV
Finally open the Main APP on your Fire TV and ensure, that both radio buttons and adb are enabled, that's all
I tested and it works on Fire TV 1 & 2, Fire Stick 1 &2 with or without root on: 5.2.1.0, 5.2.1.1, 5.2.4.1, 5.2.4.2
