[ROM][4.1.1] [KEBBERSROM_CORNERSTONE_V1.3] [Multitasking at its best!] [30-04-2013] - Transformer TF300T Android Development

Welcome,
Ever since Cornerstone first came out for ICS, I got really excited for it. For those who don't know what Cornerstone is, basically is allows 3 windows to be open at the same time, which some may call "true multitasking!"
This is what it looks like:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_share": "Share",

}
KEBBERSROM_CORNERSTONE is based on the official Cornerstone released by Onskreen for the Motorola XOOM, I have only ported it over. More information can be found here. I have based it on the 10.4.2.18 Asus release. This Rom is running Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and is also rooted and deodexed.
This rom I created is still a work in progress, so as a result some issues are to be expected. I posted this ROM in hopes that some people will look at it and maybe some real Devs could help iron out the many kinks that are there. I should also point out that there is no Asus stuff in this rom currently. It's pretty much AOSP, hence the small download size. If I can get everything working as it should, I might try to integrate some of the good things that Asus did.
What Works:
-Wifi
-Camera
-touchscreen
-keyboard dock (for the most part)
-cornerstone
-storage
-MTP transferring
-GPS
-HDMI Video (audio untested)
-Bluetooth - see issues
-Wallpaper - see issues
Issues:
-sometimes popup windows cannot be selected in cornerstone mode (works when cornerstone is off. You will see when first booting up and a popup asks you if you want to select the Asus keyboard)
-photosphere (4.2 feature on a 4.1 rom)
Workarounds:
-Wallpaper does not display - THERE IS NOW A WORKAROUND FOR IT. This has only been tested with NOVA LAUNCHER PRIME - if you go into the settings and force a scrolling wallpaper - THE WALLPAPER WILL DISPLAY
-Bluetooth pairing is wonky in the settings menu - I have included an app which will allow pairing to devices that require a passcode.
Find the download HERE
Please note. If you are restoring apps from Titanium Backup, MAKE SURE YOU DO IT WHEN CORNERSTONE IS SHUT OFF. This is because the multi window interface of cornerstone doesn't seem to like it when TiBU brings up 2 popups for restoring a particular app. You will see what I mean if you try it. It's not going to bork anything, you just can't select certain things which will result in you having to force close TiBU and try again.
And some thanks:

It's a work in progress still but I'm pleased with the result so far. I have updated the OP with some more information.

Ok, I am loving(!) Cornerstone, only annoying thing in your build for me is that I can't set a background (I can but wallpaper still is just black ) Did full wipes btw Play Store doesn't want to update GMail and GMSCore properly, is it possible there's something wrong in build.prop? Beside this two things there's FC when going to settings => storage but it's very nice though

Fantastic! My dream about SG Note Multi-windowed mode become true!
hardslog, good luck!

yup now Play Store is also fine for me, no idea why it didn't want to download anything lol
@hardslog: any change to get another keyboard sound? the current one is making me freaking
oh and another thing, would it be possible to exchange the music player with play music? my whole music is in my google music cloud

You can download play music from the play store, but yea, I'll see if I can have it in there to replace the regular music app.
Also with the keyboard sound, that's the stock sound the stock keyboard makes no?

Quick status update:
Things are moving along pretty smoothly right now actually. I got the settings - storage problem fixed as well as the media server crashing when connecting to the computer (meaning MTP works and you can transfer file to and fro again). I was also able to replace the music app with google play music and I got google now working in there. As for the wallpaper not displaying, I haven't figured that one out yet. I get some java runtime exceptions being bounced at me which I think is the source of the problem, but as of right now I don't have a solution. I may have an updated build up sometime either today or tomorrow. Thanks to those who have tested this out so far!

Update: Kebbersrom_cornerstone_v1.1
Changes include:
-replaced 4.1 gallery and camera with 4.2 gallery and camera
-replaced some libs to make camera work a bit better
-included Google Now
-included Google Play Music
-Fixed the settings - storage crash
-Fixed MTP file transfer
-Added in Asus Keyboard
-Added in Asus Web Storage
-Added Adobe Flash
-Added Apex and Nova Launchers
-Added Titanium Backup
-Added in Unters Kernel for a much smoother experience
Please See OP for download.

I want to try it out but i also need my tablet for daily use. so my question is. Is the browser working without lag and how often is the whole system rebooting a day ????

make a backup of your current rom and try this rom yourself. if it doesn't work as you expect, restore your backup.

For the most part, it doesn't cause reboots. It has the odd visual glitch and sometimes the Wifi flakes out requiring a reboot (if you are moving from one network to another, occasionally it will think that you are still on the old one)
As for the browser, I haven't had an issue with it yet. Seems to work just as well as the browser on any other rom.

Ok, now this runs really good! Cornerstone is just lovely :victory: Missing wallpaper, but I'm sure you get it working
Some proposals to include: Bluetooth/Wifi switch in the status bar (or probably just the stock status bar); advanced power menu, I hate manually going to RCK ); the stock camera app (I don't get a camera app icon or a swipe in the gallery to switch to camera, just gallery - 3rd party camera apps work perfecty btw); probably 4.2 clock - ok, that's all of the wishes
@smookyb: I had no random reboot yet, just the wifi not turning on properly (but I think this has to do with a bit of issue in 4.1) but except this everything I need for daily use works properly, so try it! make a CWM/TWRP backup before so if you don't like it you can revert without problems, but giving this a shot is definitely worth it! :good:

Hi Hardslog
It's hard to port cornerstone to CM10.1 ?

Re: [ROM][WIP] KEBBERSROM_CORNERSTONE_V1.1 (Mar 13 2013)
I'll let you know if I ever get this working. I originally tried to port it to CM10 but had better luck using the Asus stock as the base. I was able to get it booting with CM10 though, but the source code of cornerstone is based off of 4.1.1

As Cornerstone has recently just updated srouces to 4.1.1 I'm pretty sure you have to wait a while for this being based on 4.2 as I think only Team Cornerstone can really make it for 4.2

MIUI 4.0.3
Howdy,
I have found my self with a little time on my hands, I needed a little project and hear it is.
This has been ported to the HTC Vision by me and lenny_kano, It is pretty much functional bar a few bugs. Most of these bugs are from MIUI as MIUI v4 is not yet stable or feature complete.
This ROM comes with no guaranteed support, I'm hoping that abundance of free time I have at the moment will be short lived. However now I have started I would like to continue. So you never know

One thing that I noticed is that even though the Themes app works, the themes themselves aren't being applied and an failure occurs when trying to change the lockscreen wallpaper.

There was a fix for themes in Proxuser's thread, and but since he has updated the fix has gone. So I assume the bug is fixed in this week's release. I will send him a PM and ask for it and add it toothed first post.
I will update to this week's build tomorrow I'm all androided out for today.

Question and Answer
Q - How do i get this?
A- Simply download, copy it to your sd card, boot into twrp, and flash it. Don't have TWRP, FFF Bootloader, Or even a root? Download THIS.
Q - My Kindle is stuck in a bootloop (It means it wont get past the bootscreen)
A - This seems to be a common issue if you don't wipe your device completely. So wipe cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, system.
Q - What are those things that you can download on the second post?
A - Well those are called mods they add little tweaks and other things to your device if you flash them. I have screenshots posted so you can see each mod.
Q - How do i get those mods?
A - Simple just pick your choice, then flash the same way you did with the rom.
Q - I dont like this mod is there a way to remove it?
A - Some of the mods include a link to remove it just flash it. If a mod does not include a link to remove it just do this NOTE YOU WILL LOOSE ALL OTHER MODS. Get your glazed rom and flash that but only wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Q - Will this be getting Aroma Soon or Linaro?
A - I will inplement aroma as soon as we get the touchscreen working. I dont think this rom will ever get linaro due to some reason. Linaro is not fully stable and not fully developed for CM9. Linaro is very buggy and many apps will not work. According to gederom linaro does not make much difference in performance maybe just a little bit but not enough to change this whole rom. I might implement linaro later on whenever a fully functional linaro is released but for now NO LINARO.
Q - I hate this rom or i hate one of the things in it.
A - Well this is not the only rom if you want something changed you can either give me a suggestion or do it YOURSELF. There are many other roms out there. Maybe this is your favorite rom or maybe not it depends on what kind of view you look at this.
Q - How often will you be updating this.
A - Very frequently maybe twice a week.
Q - I love this rom so MUCH is there a way i can ever repay you?
A - Yes, by hitting that thanks button and giving me your user experience view on it. If you really would like to thank me you can do so by donating. That is the only thing keeping me going and making future developments.
Q - Do you have any other roms maybe a much simpler one?
A - Yes SIMPLE CM9, hence the name simple cm9.
Q - YOU F*CK*ED UP MY KINDLE.
A - Read the disclaimer, and i highly doubt this rom can mess up your device. Well only if you were messing with things your werent supposed to.
Q - I want to develop mods for this.
A - Everyone starts out as a noob you slowly learn more and more as you go, maybe you just are not ready for developing or maybe you are. If that is so you can make a mod and just post it or PM me and i will surely take a look at it and maybe put it in the mods section. Or you can just find a really cool tweak online or mod and JUST PM me ONLY and i might implement it or add it to the mod section.
Q - My device is slow after flashing.
A - The device is slow because it is building the cache just give it some time and reboot it should fix that issue.
Q - My problem is not on here?
A - Please do not start a new thread post it on here or PM me and you will surely find a solution.
I'll give this a try
you know i'm flashin' this in a few
Please test and let me know if there are Bad Bugs Lying around. Thanks.
ive been waiting for this as you can tell
Has anyone been able to get this to download. I keep getting download unsuccessful
sent from my Nokia 5110
So far, it's running great. Just two bugs I've noticed so far:
- The screen orientation when switching from landscape to portrait is a bit delayed. Same thing when opening apps.
- A LOT of apps are missing from the Play Market, including YouTube and Amazon Mobile. I tried modifying the build.prop file, but no luck.
Still, this ROM rocks! Great job!

For the market apps that are seen as not compatible (like YouTube), is there a reasonable way to get them working? Would sideloading the apk work?

Side loading would work but I'm sure we can find a way to fix that issue. I noticed that issue in the 6/8 build of simple CM9 but when he updated it on the tenth it was working again.

You can sideload .apk files just fine. I used Titanium Backup to restore my apps. The problem is, since so many are incompatible, they won't update.
Normally you can either modify or replace the build.prop file using Root Explorer (as I did), but it didn't resolve the missing-incompatible apps issue.

Always when switching orientation the device takes longer on all roms due to the fact that it first has to detect what position its being placed in and transition from there. Are you sure about when opening apps i stood up last night testing this rom like crazy and im pretty sure apps are snappy. Maybe try reflashing? Yeah i realized my mistake on the play store apps being fixed now.

----------------------------------------------------
Hi everyone.
This is a notice to everyone that BrassDroid is being discontinued. We had a lot of fun doing it and we have learned a lot about the Android system.
However we are currently working on a few other projects including some games for android and maybe, before long, iPhone that is taking up the majority of our time.
When JellyBean 4.2 was released we felt there was only little we could do to improve the ROM... Maybe add the quick link bar at the top (as well as leaving Google's extra Notification area), we were also considering implementing the dual screen from the S3 and maybe an optional unity like menu that could be swiped from the left side (Think that may also on the S3). But as mentioned before, we just don't have the time these days. :crying:
We'd like to thank everyone who helped us through this immense learning curve. We were complete noobs to the programming scene (building a website was our limit) when we started this and cannot thank you all enough for being guinea pigs We have really enjoyed doing this project and appreciate the time you've spent testing our ROM's (especially our friends across the pond who were willing to try our blind built LTE ones).
Once again thank you to everyone who helped us and tested for us, we couldn't have done it without you
Maybe our paths will cross again soon
-----------------------------------------------------------
We have recently found ourselves being caught up in numerous projects and are not quite able to keep up the regular updates as you may have noticed. We just want to take this opportunity to say that they will likely become slightly farther apart. I'd like to think that at the most they will be every two weeks. Hopefully more regular though to keep in-line with the current CM changes (however we are slowly building our own ROM from the AOSP that we hope to use instead of CM... however this is a long time away yet)
We'd like thank everyone for their support during the development of this ROM and hope you continue to enjoy it (If you have )
A BrassFeet ROM for Galaxy Nexus.
Here we have BrassDroid, a collaboration between PjFlo and DeeToTheVee.
This comes in two flavours. A modable CM10 kang and a clean, smooth AOSP build.
These are compiled with the brilliant and energy effecient, Trinity Kernel by, Morfic.
I have found this to be a great combination of power and battery life.
This rom also includes a few build.prop tweaks aswell and some shaven fat.
Stable CM10 Source
Choice of Trinity or Franco Kernel.
Trebuchet.
Ability to move clock to the centre. (Temporarily removed - This is due to notification clashing with the clock)
NavBar mods, Menu, Search etc.
Extra browser controls.
Improved scrolling.
Improved dithering.
Google apps included!
Added smart stay app for keeping the screen on when looking at it (Disabled by default)
All new Android 4.2 features!
New Android camera with fully functional PhotoSphere!
New Android gesture keyboard (YOU NEED TO ENABLE THIS YOURSELF!!!!)
Go to settings - language and input and set the keyboard to Android Keyboard. (NOT THE AOSP ONE!!)
BrassDroid RC3 - 06/11/2012
PLEASE READ!!!!
THERE WILL BE A PERIOD ON FIRST BOOT WHERE THE PHONE WILL RESTART AND ON SECOND BOOT ATTEMPT THE SCREEN WILL GO BLACK. THE SCREEN GOING BLACK IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE BOOTANIMATION DOES NOT RUN LONG ENOUGH. BE PATIENT IT WILL BOOT!
WE WILL MAKE A NEW ONE BEFORE LONG BUT WE'RE NOT VISUAL DESIGNERS SO DON'T EXPECT TO BE BLOWN AWAY!
We strongly recommend a full wipe before installing this update as it will be replacing the camera app. It requires the Gallery2 apk to be removed so that GalleryGoogle can be installed. (Although I did a dirty flash and all was fine, DeeToTheVee recommended a wipe)
If you are comfortable with doing this manually then a dirty flash should be fine. If you're unsure then just do a wipe and then install the new update.

There is also a TORO version available over in the Galaxy Nexus TORO forums -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823482
Wipe data+cache and flash .zip with CWM.
If you are running BrassDroid already feel free to 'dirty' flash.
If you are coming from another CM10 build; remove any screen customisations (gamma etc.) before wiping and flashing this rom!
To enable the additional menu items for Trebuchet you MUST set it as the default laucher.
(Just click 'Always')

Future updates coming soon!

[ROM][CM10]BrassDroid, Trinity, JB_4.1.1[Clean][Fast][Power Saver]
Changelog:
RC3 06/11/2012
Latest feature listing (kind of a changelog but not quite)
Disabled centre clock for now as there has been some issues compiling with the latest source. It will hopefully be back though - main issue is that notifications are overlapping the time and this looks pretty ugly so... we'll see.
Disabled our default notification colour due to some reported issues, once again will be back soon.
Profiles added again (will, in final build, be disabled by default though)
Status bar power widget now has with most common widgets
Nav bar mods:
Ability to add and remove buttons from the navbar
(height adjustment will come in final build)
New stopwatch and countdown added to desk clock
Enabled development by default and some options within it
loads of the other general CM additions - far too many to name all of them
Choice of Trinity or Franco Kernel.
Disabled and removed CM updater to stop any updates to a CM build. We will remove all references to any Cyanogen features for stable. (Not to discredit them of course, just to stop conflicts)
Almost latest gapps. (Some like Chrome and Earth will need to be installed manually by you)
New cyanogen file manager - removed es file explorer
New data folder for apps some users may wish to uninstall such as facebook, instagram, franco updater etc etc
Added smart stay app for keeping the screen on when looking at it (Disabled by default)
New camera and gallery app including photosphere
New keyboard from Android 4.2 with gesture features
RC2 missed - generally just CM updates

Very Nice
Flashed the new build today and it's very stable. Trinity works well with it, I'll PM you about collaboration if you like?
Thank you for taking the time to comment
Seems a good combo. I will try tonight. Would you consider adding manual mods? I have in mind navigation bar mods as it is the only feature remained worthy to be implemented.
I change ROM too often.

Hi, I don't seem to be able to replicate this error with Gnow, I use the eos 22072012 versions.
Check your app draw, if you see an app called 'search' go into its app settings and disable it, then try using Gnow again..
Thats all I can suggest other than trying another Gapps.
Let us know if this helps! Pjflo.

Thanks. Looking forward to the video camera fix. I fixed Google now by flashing the non-eos gapps from goo.im dated 26072012. It works perfectly fine now. So you will be merging CM nightlies weekly or so? At the moment there are not so many bugs so I prefer to stay on this. Thanks again for a great ROM. Oh yes there is actually another bug, just cosmetic, enabling airplane mode still shows the signal bars. Not so critical though.
Thanks for getting back, Yes the plan was to do weekly merges, however this will be dependent on the current state of CM10. So it may vary.
The next build will correct the status bar bug as well as video cam, and bring a few extra cherry-picks.
Also expect a few goodies from us to.
Hope this answers your questions.
PJflo.
Nobody has brought navigation bar modification feature yet. Glad to see you guys importing it, if you think the same.

Giving this a shot, let you know how it works out tomorrow afternoon
Looks great! Booted perfectly. Only issue I came upon so far is no Google apps or Google account sync in settings. Great work so far guys!
BTW I used Alpha 2
Keep in mind:
CM9 is the more stable of the two ROMs as it is purpose built for the Rugby. My AOKP ROM is a little buggy and is a modified W ROM.

Gotcha. Was not aware of that. Most recent one listed, I assume?

OK everything is working great afer a full day of use. Awesome! Only issues I have had:
-Facebook contacts won't sync
-I use Smart Keyboard Pro for my keyboard and the gestures are not being recognized (swipe up to change keyboard layout, down to close, etc)
-Occasionally upon waking I am unable to swipe between home screens. After swiping repeatedly and opening and closing the app drawers and notification bar the srceen frees up. (I am using ADW launcher)
Besides the Facebook contact thing, the other issues seem to be ralated to the touch screen. It works fine, but it does feel slightly less responsive than stock.
Love having ICS on this phone! Great work and look forward future developments
Solid error report ESPFreak , thanks. I don't believe it's a touchscreen problem however, at least at a kernel level. Gestures work on my ported ROM and I'm currently using Kemo's kernel. (it's actually how I launch the dialer). That's not saying that there's not a bug higher up in the system however.

Can you install a CPU meter like OS Monitor and set it up to run in your status bar / notification drawer and see if you are getting CPU spikes when the touchscreen goes somewhat unresponsive? Motorhead and I have noticed some CPU spikes popping up after the screen is off for a period of time.
I have also noticed a few when my exchange / imap clients kick off sync's in the background causing the touchscreen to get a little flaky.

It could be an interplay on the kernel side. There was a lot of grief with the touchscreen and LCD drivers in the ICS kernel. I'm hesitant to rule it out just yet. Lets see what the CPU meter shows.
Its good nuff for daily use for me, no complaints here

I flashed one file and it did activate the sync option within the app but didn't actually do anything with the contacts. Maybe because it's a different build? Not sure but here's the link.

What quirks are you running into? If you get a list of the odd behavior we can take a look and see about smoothing things over.

This looks like something very very specific that I am not inclined to include in the vanilla CM9 builds. Motorhead think you might be able to work some magic in the AOKP stuff once it is further along?

Information
These are the monthly releases of CM with some modifications and touch ups that will be listed below, They are meant for users who want a stable ROM without the need to flash nightly releases and risking a Nandroid, anyone who has enjoyed the stability of my Google Edition ROM should give this a go
all builds have their core features tested (Camera, bluetooth, bluetooth audio, tethering, USB audio, Data, Voice calls etc), I also adb debug each release and look for any redflags, I then set up the phone and daily drive it with a few of my testers and once I deem the release stable it will be posted here.
Note: The CM camera works but it's not the best, SnapCam HDR (Paid app) from the market is much more stable and has a ton more features (these developers only focus on the 4.4 open source camera and making it better), I highly suggest doing what I do and removing the stock Camera and Gallery and using this awesome app which also includes a gallery with more features, myself and ktoonsez swear by it. The stock files are found in system/app.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Features
-CM Stable branch based
-Updated and debloated gapps
- No rom branding - I don't flash my name around in the settings menu anywhere, keeping it stock AOSP.
-Stock CM kernel
-Nova launcher
-Improved CM Auto brightness values (Stock is way to Dim)
-Android L boot animation
-adb shell fixes
-Ext SD permissions added in platform
-Zip aligned
-No extra bloat
-Settings menu revamped and more organized
-Teleservice event notification options removed as they are not working
-Tested by an established developer and solid testers before release goes live to the public
-Enjoy!!

-edited another string in settings>security
-not much else, last build as I think this is way more stable then any other CM build out there.
*dirty flash if coming from previous release is fine, just wipe caches first, no need to flash gapps unless full wiping*
08/05/2014 stable 2

06/01/2014
I was VERY happy with how 5/31/2014 ran on my phone but noticed a few commits merged last night that were authored by bossman Cyanogen himself, so here is your changelog. I feel like the foundations of this ROM are set now which I knew would take a few builds
so if all goes well with this, I will start bi-weekly releases because I'm extremely sick of full wiping/testing/compiling, I just wanna use my phone as a phone!!
stagefright: yield callbackDispatcher to writer only for video
libstagefright: Fix to handle EAGAIN error on first read to source
audio: mute duration at the beginning of recording
Bluetooth: Fix for device gets stuck in pairing
Bluetooth: turn on lcd during Connection
camera: Disable extra HDR frame on QCOM_HARDWARE - HDR fix for third party apps
appops: Fix WIFI_SCAN AppOp permission index
nxp: Include support declaration for Mifare tags
Everything but the app ops commit was merged into the stable branch of CM 11, these were necessary changed to warrant an update
Enjoy!
05/31/2014
Settings: Allow access for external apps to launch ThemeSettings Fragment directly
Mms: Clear notifications and mark messages read in certain situations
Calculator updated with many new features
selinux: enable support for bionic, add applets in config
Revert "Remove smiley support"
Revert "idmap: Don't log spam "CREATING STRING CACHE"
idmap: reduce CREATING STRING CACHE verbosity
Merged latest cLock widget
Added Stock MMS back in the build as it's theme friendly
Made number picker dialog in MMS and Contacts a neutral gray so no theme will make the txt invisible
Option to show missed notification count in Interface>Statusbar now works for Email/Gmail
Included Apollo in the build to play nice with lockscreen targets, feel free to remove yourself
Removed open music app on headset connect, does not work on most music apps including poweramp
Updated kernel, Init binary in the ramdisk is now the latest from CM
05/30/2014
Settings: Disable Battery status preference on ModLock.
Fix wallpapers not applying in full screen
Alarm: Show a warning toast when alarm volume is set to silent

Correct string for left-handed mode (Camera + settings)
Menu button fixed for webkit apps (TiBU, GO SMS etc)
Added equalizer quick panel toggle
Burst mode removed from Camera until it's fixed upstream
default alarm tone set
Kernel updated to the latest
more that I'm probably forgetting but this is the important stuff
05/27/2014
SystemUI: Make wifi combo margin themable
wm: Underp menu key release processing (doesn't effect Titanium so don't ask, thats a TB bug)
Fix circle battery opaqueness for the low battery color
Reduce memory leaks by removing all views.
CMAccount: fix setup wizard crash
Themes: Add read/write permissions - 2 commits
Fix broken tags
Remove Status bar notification count checkbox preference <--- main reason for this update, I don't like broken toggles in my settings menus, no idea why CM just leaves them in there, it's rather annoying when there is ZERO java controlling them
every other commit is super minor but we are fully synced up to date with CM
05/26/2014
A2DP: Stop spamming log with buffer size
Make KeyguardMultiUserAvater fully themable
CMAccount: Remove "or" between account buttons
Add/fix APns

Remove event notification checkbox preference
Note: You can dirty flash my updates but you can't report bugs in my thread until you repeat them on a full wipe. Thanks :)

this went live yesterday for t-mo and at&t, feedback has been excellent
enjoy!
Thanks for this again Dan.
Just to let everyone know, Dan's CM rom is an absolute keeper. Been on his GE rom for many months now which has been brilliant, and i never thought i would come off it until i tried this rom.
Been on it for a couple of days now as Dan was kind enough to give me a test, and all i can say is up to now it is totally faultless! I don't even need to install Xposed/gb any more as this does pretty much everything you will ever need as standard.
Great work mate, and many thanks again

s-view cover calls are proprietary code from Samsung and will only work on touchwiz at the moment, I'm waiting to see if they implement it into 4.4.3 GE because they gave it the shaft in 4.4.2.
I too have been using your google rom for ages, time for a change :good:
ok, thanks.
in which case, would including this app within the rom run any differently than if i just install is the normal way?
https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.durka.hallmonitor
have heard great reviews about your roms, as i've been looking for a fairly plain/clean rom that's totally bug free and good to go for my daily driver, but most things i've tried have had call issues or other sound bugs and random reboots. your rom's seem pretty stable by all accounts, but i really want s-view cover to work.
the hall monitor app is the best i;ve tried, but sometimes still a bit glitchy, so just wondered if it's any different including it in a rom compared to installing the apk (and then maybe using TB to convert to system app or soemthing like that?)

Whats the battery life like in comparison to the GE rom?!
@Danvdh
What are the main benefits from this rom over GE's?

It's a later revision of 4.4.2, KVT49L. It also doesn't need gravitybox for the goodies, Everything works well, battery is good and it's just as fast. try for yourself mate, I'm enjoying it but that doesn't mean I plan to abandon my GPE ROM, It's just done it's development cycle and I'm waiting for 4.4.3 to do any further work on it. (next decade or century lol)
Some people might prefer google play edition because they want just a vanilla android experience with no extra features, as for this ROM nothing is reported broken, I'm getting better bluetooth performance as well! Camera is looking good, I have no problems with Instagram camera either using both front and back for video and pictures, it seems more and more apps are supporting open source drivers!
So yeah, the choice is yours mate, try it out and if you like it, stick with it, if not just use my GPE, you don't have to worry about it because I'll be supporting both for as long as I have this device (I don't ever plan on selling it if I get another phone, you will probably leave the S4 before I do) either way, I have ROM that makes my userbase happy so its down to whichever you prefer, userbase happy = Dan and ktoonsez happy

it performs very well mate, I'll need to go through a few cycles to know for sure but it's definitely not worse, it also depends on how you setup your kernel settings in ktweaker and what apps you use, some apps ppl need push notifcations wakelock in the background, the more of these you have the faster you will drain, but to answer the question in more detail, if you were to flash this and my GPE on 2 S4's and not install ANYTHING and keep both phones clean with no apps, I'm sure you will see very comparable results, Ktoonsez has been using CM for ages and he get's like 3 days on a single charge if not more... he's OCD with battery life

will perform the same I'd imagine, User app just needs you to confirm permissions, System app automatically approves the permissions, System app might be better for something always running in the background however
