Theme Chooser Issue - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

Hola friends. Long time lurker, occasional poster. First off, thanks to the devs for making the kindle fire an actual tablet.
My issue is minor, but important to me. I've tried every available build of cm10 for the kf2 so far (including nightlies) and for the life of me cannot get a single one to work. Is this a known issue that I missed or am I the only one with this issue? Thanks in advance!

Specifically- what have you done and what were the results?

Every cm10 theme I've installed (whether side loaded or from the play store) gives me the "this theme is improperly compiled" error.

I've seen that with some themes but not all.
Try this one:

I know that one works for me

Sorry, I should clarify, I meant CM10 themes. Not a launcher theme.

You are king. Many thanks.

Play store apps without being rooted?

I've searched for an answer but the only ones I find are for being rooted and I'm scared to death of bricking my a100... is there any other way of getting the apps that are on the playstore that show as incompatible without doing the root build prop thingy? For example I can get MLB at bat on my wife's kindle fire... back it up and send it to my Acer and it works just fine even though it supposedly isn't compatible. Thing is the selection of apps on kindle fire is ten times ****tier than the a100. Even if its an outside website or some unrooted method I haven't came across any suggestions will be appreciated ty

As long as its a free app, Download the apk from somewhere else and install on tablet. There are other app stores other than the Play store. GetJar is the only one I can think off right now. MLB at bat shows as compatible with my device in the Play store.

You could always try to 'push' the file using ADB, no root needed for that.
Hmm when I look in the play store I can only find MLB at the park, I'll check out that site ty

This is borderline warez discussions so tread lightly. However as long as it is a free version of an app there's other places to go and get the apk. I'll not mention them here since it can be shady.

I'm only caring about free apps I just dont wanna dl from gonnahackyourtablet dot com. Lol

Yes your right, MLB at Bat doesn't show up, my eyes seen MLB at and thought it was what you were looking for. Sorry if I caused any confusion.

Consenquences of Dual-Booting?

I dual boot hellfire primary and modoco as an alt. Since you can put modoco as an alternative you can use any ICS rom for primary.

[Q] Amazon Instant Video App

I have a first gen Kindle Fire. Definitely would love to be running a custom rom (running AOKP 4.2.2 on my phone and love it). But the one and only thing keeping me from experimenting is the lack of Amazon Instant Video app. I know this has been discussed at length, but wanted to know if any progress has been made. I am aware I can view videos from the browser, but I prefer the options run videos from the app and download them for it for viewing later if I'm not on wifi. It's one of my favorite features of the Kindle and if I run a custom rom then that is gone. Hopefully some progress has been made, but from a quick search I can't find anything.

The best thing you can do is dual-boot.

I find is crazy that a workaround hasn't been figured out, but dual booting isn't something I had thought about so that might work thanks!

Well many people have tried all sorts of workarounds, but Its something in the actual Amazon Videos app that keeps it from working,

Could a separate app be developed that does that? Of course that's coming from me. I can barely install an app much less develop one. But I'd buy more movies and shows if I was able to use it on more devices I own other than just my Kindle.

Well im sure it would be possible to, but im just going to sit and wait until the Kindle line fails, and then amazon releases the app on android.
Can somebody point me in the direction of a thorough how-to for dual booting? Im definitely over this stock launcher.

Snapchat Camera Issues

I've been having trouble getting the snapchat app to work. I've tried different versions, but the camera is zoomed in and rotated on all of them. I'm running Hashcode's CM10.1 Has anyone gotten this to work correctly?
Iam running hashcode's latest release of 10.1. I tried to get the app to test, but Google play says the app is not compatible with my device... I'll try again in a day or two

If you do a clean wipe you shouldn't need a fix for lag. I experience zero lag on anything I do

Just saw that the Nexus 7 (and possibly the Nexus 7 2013) suffer from gradual slowdown. Lagfix (from the Play Store) was recommended for it.
I'd like to get one of these, but I don't really need it - I have my Kindle HD that I enjoy immensely - I don't have a fast enough 'net connection (DSL) to stream video and I don't play a lot of games. Darn, I hate being practical ...

If you're talking about the TRIMM support type of fix released just recently, I'm not sure if it works for the KF. There is a page on it in the portal and I'm waiting to see the update before I try it myself.
Has anyone tried it yet? I'm quite interested.

Greenify, works best for me to fix lag. Now, I can play GTA3 and MC4 without lag.

404 - so it's safe to run lagfix on a KF1 running CM10.1??
Well, I just checked on my KFHD, and the kernel does not support TRIMM, so it probably wouldn't work for the KF1 either. I'm not sure if Hashcode plans to add support in later versions, but it's something to look into.

A 3.4.xx kernel is likely needed for Trim support.

I downloaded lagfix to the KF1 - it said it wasn't supported ... oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained ...
