Opening this thread in order for the users to post their issues here instead of the development section or CM10 bug report thread.
This thread refers to discussions/bug reports for CM10.1 (Android 4.2.2) released by arco68 here.
As usual, it would be best to keep an organized fashion of your bug reports for the developers to easily spot them and maybe fix them.
On behalf of the SGW users, big thanks to arco68 and the CyanogenMod Team!
Great job, guys!
Note: bugs concerning custom kernels are to be reported into the corresponding threads! Please, don't post them here.
In order to avoid posting bugs that are not actually bugs, please, make sure you follow this little tutorial before upgrading/installing CM10.1:
For installation, first, make sure you got CM10.1 ROM and the correct Gapps on your External SD Card. Both can be found in the Mirrors section below.
After that, enter CWM and:
select "wipe data / factory reset"
go to "mounts & storage" and format /system. This is extremely important!
under the same menu, format /sdcard (be careful NOT to format /external_sd by mistake)*
install CM10.1 (from the external sd)
install Gapps for JB+ (from the external sd)
reboot your phone
* On newer CWM Recovery versions, you might find the internal memory mounted as /sdcard0 and the external one as /sdcard1. For this case, make sure you don't format /sdcard1 by mistake.
Please, note that every step of this tutorial is mandatory!
For apps backup & restore using Go Backup Pro, please, follow the tutorial below, step by step:
For Backup
1. Make sure you have an external SD card inserted
2. Download Go Backup Pro (of course)
3. Enter the app and go to Settings (from the 3 vertical dots on the right side of the screen)
4. Make sure that for the Backup Path, you have selected External storage (if I'm not mistaken, this is the default setting anyway, but it's good to confirm, just in case)
5. Go back and go to New/Restore Backup section
6. Click Batch Backup (bottom left of the screen)
7. Select what you want to backup*
*Tip: to select/unselect all User Data, all System Settings etc, you have a checkbox on the same row with the actual User Data or System Settings texts.
8. Click Start Backup
9. Wait for it to finish and click Finish
For Restore
1. Assuming that by now you already have a backup to restore, go to New/Restore Backup section again
2. Click Batch Restore
3. Now, pay attention to the User Applications section of that screen. Right underneath the User Application text, you have an option that says "Restore Content".
4. Click on "APK + Data" from Restore Content and select "Restore app only". Now the Restore Content section will show only APK.
5. Uncheck the apps for which you need app data. Those apps won't be restored, for now. Please, go on with the tutorial.
5. Click Start Restore
6. Wait for it to finish and click Finish
7. Now that we chose what apps we want to be restored without app data, let's go back and enter New/Restore Backup section (yeah, again ).
8. Click Batch Restore
9. Uncheck everything*.
*Tip: to select/unselect all User Data, all System Settings etc, you have a checkbox on the same row with the actual User Data or System Settings texts
10. Now, pay attention to the User Applications section of that screen. Right underneath the User Application text, you have an option that says "Restore Content".
11. Click on "APK" from Restore Content and select "Restore app and data". Now the Restore Content section will show APK+ Data.
10. Check only the apps for which you DO need app data to be restored (the ones that were left unrestored from last time ).
11. Click Start Restore
12. Wait for it to finish and click Finish.

Bugs reported/still occurring so far (Beta 3):
1. Camera/Gallery (To be confirmed in Beta 4)
Camera/Gallery app becomes unresponsive when locking&unlocking the screen multiple times (about 4 times in my tests). After that, if the user chooses to force close the Gallery app, when entering the Camera app again, he will be prompted with the following error message: "Can't connect to the camera".
Please, see the attached screenshot and the log below for more info.

ANR in com.android.gallery3d (com.android.gallery3d/com.android.camera.CameraLauncher)
Reason: keyDispatchingTimedOut
After rendering the Panorama shots, when the camera returns to the Panorama Mode for the user to take another panoramic shot, the camera preview is flickering. This happens only if the Auto-Rotate function is ON and the screen in Portrait mode. With the Auto-Rotate OFF, this bug does not occur.
Please, see the attached screenshot for, hopefully, more info on this.
Camera/Gallery app becomes unresponsive when taking a picture, sliding left to see the picture and tapping on it to see it in "full screen" then locking the screen for about 10 seconds. After that, if the user chooses to force close the Gallery app, when entering the Camera app again, the user will be prompted with the following error message: "Can't connect to the camera". Please, see the attached screenshot for more info.
Setting the light exposure to 4 or -4, the icon on the bottom right doesn't show any number (as it does for any other value) and if slide to the left to enter the Gallery and come back to camera app, the icon appears distorted. This happens only for value "4" or "-4". Workaround: switch to any of the other values and then back to 4.
Please, see the attached screenshot for more info.
Zooming in/out doesn't work in video mode. Nothing happens when using two fingers to zoom in or out. No change in the actual image.
Please, see the log below for zooming issue.
Code:
E/QualcommCameraHardware(148): Failed to get maximum zoom value...setting max zoom to zero
2. Text cut off in photo editor (To be confirmed in Beta 4)
The text for the "straighten" option is missing the first 2-3 letters in the default photo editor (please, see the attached screenshot for more info). The options section from that screen cannot be slid more to the left to see the rest of the word.
This happens most likely because the spaces between the icons (options) from the top row of editing options don't adjust to the new screen orientation (Portrait). They look ok in Landscape mode, but it seems that the space between the icons from that row is kept the same no matter of the screen orientation, leading to some of the options not to be completely visible.
3. cLock widget not properly resizing in landscape mode (To be confirmed in Beta 4)
cLock widget does not properly resize when the launcher is set to Landscape mode (launcher auto-rotate option is ON). The widget is cut off (please, see the attached screenshot for more info). The widget looks good in Portrait mode. But when turning the screen to landscape mode, it's cut.
4. Phone encryption (To be confirmed in Beta 4)
Enabling encryption in the Security Settings will make the PIN code for the SIM card (assuming it's set to be requested) not to be requested anymore, thus making the "phone" part of the device unusable. No calls (voice or data), no SMS, no MMS can be sent or received. Workaround: make a nandroid backup before encrypting and restore it afterwards.
If the user turns off the SIM card PIN code request before performing the encryption, after it's finished, the APNs previously set will disappear and there won't be any way to re-add them manually, thus making the data connection unusable. He will be able to make voice calls and send SMS though.
After the encryption, if SIM PIN request is OFF, in the notification drawer and quicksettings panel, the user will be informed that he has no service (please, see the attached screenshots for more info) although, by going into Settings -> About Phone -> Status, he will see that the network is successfully recognized and there is definitely some service. (please, see the attached screenshot for more info on this too).
5. Random reboots after recently closing a phone call (To be confirmed in Beta 4)
From time to time, but apparently more often after recently (not immediately after) closing an incoming voice call, the phone reboots.
This does not happen with kernel 3.4.56 but it does happen with 3.4.57 so it might be because of that reverted commit.
6. Some third party camera apps don't work properly in CyanogenMod. (To be confirmed in Beta 4)
Some third party camera apps don't work with any CM version from CM9 to CM10.1. For example, Camera 360 Ultimate v4.5 works ok on stock Android 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 (tested on Nexus devices) but doesn't work properly with any CyanogenMod version. After taking a picture, the camera preview gets stuck. No change in preview when tilting the phone.
Please, see the log below from the moment when taking a picture with Camera 360. Maybe it helps solve this problem.

arco new bcmdhd wifi driver dont working

The phone had been rebooting often.
Happened occasionally it rebooted even using camera and browsing the net.

I installed this rom. But sometimes, phone is locking and freezing. I am obliged to reboot.
(Sorry for my bad English)

Please rename this rom.
I'm writing this post because I read the whole thread in the Development section and it seems to me that calling this rom CM 10.1 is a bit misleading.
Sure blackcat67 may have done a bunch of work to get this out, but I don't think he has the rights to call it CM.
So I'm asking @blackcat67...PLEASE RENAME YOUR ROM.
Call it something like... [4.2.2][Blackcat]...as Xistance did for his... [4.2.1][Rootbox Alpha 1] ...but please don't call it CyanogenMod.

I don't know, man.
I would keep it open just in case someone will post another CM10.1.
There is no source thread to discuss for now, that's true. But maybe there will be soon. So, I don't know. I'll leave this decision to mods.
From my point of view, I just want a CM10.1/AOSP 4.2.2 soon, and it's not really important who posts it. So...I don't know. You decide.

XDANDROID 2.1 AOSP
Welcome to the official XDANDROID thread which is dedicated to getting Android running on our beloved HTC devices.
So far devices supported are raphael|fuze|diamond|blackstone|topaz|rhodium
Over at the vogue forums, Zenulator has just released an updated version for Android. Codename Eclair, it brings Android to 2.0.1
Since then it has been bumped up and based upon Manup456 port. Many thanks
Stinebd has recently built an 2.1 AOSP build from source for those who want to use a clean 2.1 build. The current builds are based on the AOSP and we are waiting for 2.2 source
Phhusson: has dedicated most of his time helping users and updating kernel to run Eclair and his work for other msm7k devices. However phhusson is not alone as there are also other members working on this. You can find some of them on http://www.htc-linux.org. I've listed some of the developers i know of that currently are working on and they deserve credits and thanks. We also have to note that before this work done there was quite a substantial number of people starting working on linux for our devices. Without them we may not be where we are today. So respect and credits to everyone involved in working on linux kernel for msm devices.
I am not responsible for any damages or problems your device encounters. The build is relatively safe and shouldn't cause any problems.

Nice to see someone contributing for the Raphael side of the forum, as i always felt why is support so good on the Vogue for Android? Why does Sense UI, most Android related etc. work on Vogue, well nvm. Looking towards the new build, nice work.

RAPH110 not working
I had tried it two days ago with kernel 2009-12-13 and the original files and got freeze at the setup screen on my RAPH110.
Procedure was as depicted and after deleting data.img.
At the top of the frozen screen there was the "no network" sign and I did not get the usual sounds of GSM network handshake in my loudspeakers so the hang seems to be in really early stage. That was weird enough to mention because on donut the radio turns on before the GUI comes up.
It could be Android initializing hardware that our kernel does not yet support. All i can think of is GPS and camera. But i'm going to stick with GPS for the time being. As data connections can be disabled and other hardware is at a functional stage.
my device is resetting at the android splashscreen, I had one time where I've seen the setup page. but then freeze and reset...
I don't know if its a problem but my diamond isn't detected in this build, it's detecting a vogue. So probably its loading false drivers?
the recognition is in the rootfs
These are really good news!
I'm glad to see some one looking into this! I own a raph100 and (needless to say) i got no further than you guys. But is there some way i can provide information? I'm no programmer but if there is any way i can help let me know!
/P
will try this on my diam100 ... i will only have to change the system.sqsh right ??? and keep all the other files
TQ

I hope my guide was easy to understand . Its pretty much like any other build. The two main files are system.sqsh and rootfs.img. Kernel is always from glemsom autobuilds and the basefiles should provide the rest.

same behavior when recognizing diamond.
is there a logfile anywhere or an option for one? so that we can see at what task it fails?
You can setup adb, which will let you see what task is being run. I've been reading into it and will set it up soon. As this would surely give us a better detailed diagnosis.
Eclair on RAPH100
Tested on my RAPH100 and got stuck on the setup screen too :-(
Offering a Diam100 to test
Hy guys! I offer a diam100 to test. Im not much of a programmer.
I offer my diam100 to do any test. At the moment i've tried and when i have "android" letters on screen, after 20 seconds the system reboots and enter into Windows mobile again. I'll be awake, every new version i'll try it and post feedbacks. Thanks for building.

Same problem here, after the SMD ch 0 closing -> opening and SMD ch 0 opening -> opened messages it resets.
I haven't tried the kernel flashing from the androidinstall package, for I'm a bit scared to brick my phone (though I'm not scared to flash it when I know it's quite safe )

p.s. running on wm 6.5.3 (28011) if it matters.
Anyone have any luck with ADB, Windows7 and XP both say the android is an unrecognized device and it won't allow me to use the usb_android drivers that came with ADB.

nvm, i was missing 'board-htcraphael.adb=1' in the startup.txt almost got it working now!
it's pity i can not download all files.
Hi, since the kernel is shared between raph, diamond & blackstone, I tried it on my blackstone.
It did not work either, but I managed to save the debug output.
I've attached it here, in case it helps you.

12-18 13:35:18.528: WARN/GoogleLoginService(243): Device has no accounts: sending Intent { act=com.google.android.googlelogin.LOGIN_ACCOUNTS_MISSING }
It looks like the last sequence of actions were to find out there is no google account set up, with the reaction to call the Intent googlelogin with LOGIN_ACCOUNTS_MISSING. I guess the right reaction to that would be to request for login data.
Not that does not seem very hardware dependent to me so I'd rather bet the the freeze is due to something initiated earlier, maybe "Starting BluetoothHeadsetService". Looking at what happens in that process (pid=210) this looks like a weird path:
Code:
12-18 13:35:16.008: DEBUG/(210): unable to unlink '/data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs/_has_set_default_values.xml.bak': No such file or directory (errno=2)
Where is /data mounted and was there something created in /data/data?

Maniac103 said:
Features only in Maniac103:
Automatic download of GPS helper data
Adjustable render effect color
Configurable root access (apps only / ADB only / both / none)
Optional boot menu PIN
Option for completely disabling the phone black list feature (so that long pressing end call doesn't throw black list dialogs anymore)
MIUI-like battery bar
Revamped FM radio app (with lockscreen integration, system-wide volume control and a few additional options)
includes Motorola's voice dialer
Features in both:
Bluetooth: Always follow the user's preferred contact display name format
Make some aspects of VCard generation subclassable (belongs to the former)
Bluetooth: Send local time, not GMT, in timestamp
Calendar: Allow custom calendar reminder snooze times
Camera: Allow focus sound muting
Contacts: Add format number option to dialer
Contacts: Add individual contact call history and show groups yes/no setting on call log
Music: Let music player fade smoothly when playing/pausing/seeking
Add option to disable volume key beep sounds
Toggling the flashlight from the lock/pattern/sim unlock screens (I have implemented this differently, allowing to reconfigure not only long press menu, but also for menu and search; and to also assign different actions, such as controlling the music player and toggling the ringer mode)
Add possibility to change the style of lock pattern screen
Features in Euroskank:

I've got two bugs independently from the build:
1. battery drop (34% > 19%) partly FIXED (possible explanation) > new battery and problem is solved
2. connection bug RIL bug: under unknow circumstances the radio stops working (not available and no internet) partly WORKAROUND! And now another good workaround (autoreboot); the Euroskank version CM7.2-20121203.2350-SKANKY-Defy.zip is supposed to have better performance in that part!
I try adding PDroid patches as well. But please use at your own risk. ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP!

Old Changelogs: >here< (Textfile on Google Drive)
Hi guys, I'm definitely need help from you all. Months ago I successfully flash my phone with cm-7.1.0-11, really loves it! But unfortunately, today when I try to reboot my phone, and it get stock on 7.1-11 hornet logo page.
I tried to boot into Android system recovery <3e> (pressing power+volume down key, then volume up+down key). And the menu looks something like this:
>reboot system now
>apply sdcard:update.zip
>wipe data/factory reset
>wipe cache partition
I've tried with "wipe data/factory reset", eventually it end up at boot page again. Then I tried "wipe cache partition" and then "wipe data/factory reset", it comes out with
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
And so without any choice by trying reboot and wipe data step, then I goes for "apply sdcard:update.zip" option, and it complaint
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verfication fail.
Any step I can do for recovering my phone? Please help!
I dint know why you ask in this thread. But my answer is : I guess you have to use RSD lite to flash a ROM.

thx for reminding. no official change logs. you have to check the github. link in cm7 thread post 1.
Motorola Defy CM72111204, german Froyo base
By pressing Vol- + Power and then Vol- + Vol+, you have entered Motorola stock recovery. As far as I know, by doing wipe data/factory reset you don't have CM7 installed anymore (you don't have anything actually). You can not apply update.zip as it should be signed by Motorola (signature verification fail).
Follow these steps (Your phone should be charged):
1) Find a correct SBF to flash.
2) Download and install Motorola Drivers.
3) Download and install RSD Lite v4.9.
4) Select your SBF.
5) Take your phone into bootloader mode (Vol+ + Power).
6) Connect it to your PC.
7) Press Start button
8) Your phone will eventually reboot into stock Android.
9) If your phone gets stuck on animated Motorola logo, remove your battery, reboot into Motorola recovery (Vol - + Power, then Vol - + Vol+), then select wipe data/factory reset. Reboot. It should boot normally now.
Just make sure you select correct SBF. If you had stock Froyo do not restore with Gingerbread SBF, as you will not be able to revert back to Froyo.

I haven't tried it but I believe that it will leave your installed apps untouched, as long as you don't erase data partition during the upgrade
Just for notation for all.
I was too confused with Updates still it's just some Server Glitch that made every Rom looks like it was updated on 26.. sorry for that. creating a lot of confusion.

Hey, guys... Is a bootloop the state in which the phone is repeating the boot animation over and over or the state in which there's just the splashscreen on the screen? Cause I kinda can't get it to boot, I've tried getting the battery out and booting again 5 times now
I've posted in the CM7 thread already, so I'm sorry for kinda double posting... I'm just a bit anxious currently

FAQ:
How can I update this ROM?
Unless exceptions aren't mentioned, you simply have to flash the latest ZIP-file of the ROM using CWM. You files should stay untouched, but still it is always recommended to make a backup.
Does it support my language?
CyanogenMod (9) is multilingual, so it supports all common language in the world.
How can I update my basebandversion?
a) You can flash the Baseband from here.
or
b) Make a Nandroid backup of your current CM9 -> wipe everything -> Flash the latest stock ROM from your region via ODIN ->
flash ClockWorkMod -> wipe everything -> flash CM9 -> restore data.
What is CWM ?
CWM stands for ClockWorkMod. It is a custom Recovery which enables complete backups (Nandroid backup) and complete restores.
(HowTo install)
What are GApps?
GApps stands for GoogleApps. Google Apps = Google Play Store, Google Calender ...
Due to copyright, CyanogenMod is not allowed to implement GoogleApps directly in their ROMs, that is why you have to install it manually.
How do I install or update Google Mail?
Due to copyright, CyanogenMod is not allowed to implement Google Mail directly in their ROMs, that is why you have to install/update it manually:
Follow this link on your device and open it with the Google Play Store: click here
Where do I find the external SD on CM9 ?
The directory has changed (The following are the directories before swapping):
external(physical) SD card: /external_sd/ or /mnt/external_sd/
internal SD card: /sdcard/ or /mnt/sdcard/
How do I swap the internal and external SD on CM9 ?
Settings -> Storage->Menu-Button->Storage configuration (a restart might be necessary)
How do I activate MTP on CM9 ?
Settings ->Storage->Menu-Button->USB connection->mark MTP
How do I enable brightness control for the notification bar?
Settings -> System ->Status bar ->Activate brightness control
Now you can use the notification bar to control the brightness.(wipe on it left and right)
Source
My phone restarts randomly after update?
Note: All your Data will stay untouched (Backup/Restore)
1.Open ClockWorkMod->backup and restore->backup to externl sdcard
2.wipe data/factory reset
3.wipe cache partition(not sure if needed)
4.install zip from sdcard->choose the latest CM9 version
5.advanced restore from external sdcard->choose backup->Restore data
6.reboot
The battery of my device drains rapidly fast, what can I do?
After flashing a new ROM you will have to do several(5+) charging cycle in order to get a calibrated battery.
There are also battery calibration apps, such as Battery Calibration which help you with the battery calibration. Long story short: Be patient.
My Data connections / Adding APNs doesn't work, what can I do?
It is a known bug in (Alpha 1). Flash this zip to solve this bug.
What is a funny SIM card ?
A funny SIM card, is a SIM card which provides GSM connection, but does not let you enable data connection, because APNs can't be added.(only on CyanogenMod)Flash this zip to solve this bug.

Alright, i was just installed Silent Ringer, it does as what i want.
But both Silent Ringer & Flip4Silence only mute Incoming call and not notification.
Im more looking for mute notification because it takes longer to mute(need to unlock screen then touch the status bar) while to mute Incoming Call, just press the volume up/down.
It would be good if the Motion Turn Over feature integrated in CM9 setting without any 3rd party app

what browser and keyboard are you using?
I've had this issue happen to me with several different ROMs (including the awesome CM9 ROM), when using Opera Mobile and SwiftkeyX, maybe it's that that's causing it for you?
Edit: Thanks for making this thread btw OP, need somewhere to post bugs, while still a pre-10 post n00b
Mobile Data Bug
first, thank you to arco for this great work, my performance is much better...
Now my bugs:
1.I have a problem with my mobile internet and I read about this bug in some german forums either.(maybe it has to do with the german provider)
The mobile data doesn't work sometimes. I tried to change the settings, turn it off and on again, reboot phone, etc.. You can't connect to the internet and the 3G symbol doesn't appear.
You have to disable the SIM-Lock and reboot the phone. After that mobile internet works fine and you can enable SIM-Lock without any problems. But after a time the problem appears again.
2.Sometimes it says "damaged sdcard", and asks to format it. Formatting the sdcard doesn't help. To solve it, I have to reboot the phone. Then its gone for a while. Sometimes for 5min, sometimes a day.
One question, I can't figure out how to enable vibrating when i get a message?
Edit: Forgot my wish.. please replace the enterkey for the smileykey at the messagekeyboard..
The current CM9 build has problem with the google IME keyboard. The system freezes sometimes while typing. Please check, thx!
Sometimes if I switch to silent mode and plug-in the USB cable the silent mode is gone. Not instantly but after a while.
Anyone got the same problem?

Bug Report (?)
1.) Apps like Turn off Screen and Lock doesn't work. I've tried 4 different apps with the same function, still with the same results. Like, for example, once I activate the app and press the homescreen shortcut, it shuts the screen but turns on again to the screen lock. This is probably because the android version 4.0.
2.) part of the wallpaper can't be seen upon installing the rom but fixed it by setting the same wallpaper again.
3.) volume during phone call sometimes decreases so i always have to change the volume (inc and decrease) in order to increase the volume.
4.) camera doesn't work. given fact.
5.) while typing in the address bar, the words automatically deletes. so i have write again there.
6.) while playing doubletwist player (music player) it's supposed to show full screen view of the album artwork playing. but what i can see is only the bottom portion of the artwork. (screen lock is enabled in my phone)
PS.
thanks for making this thread here. Can't post in the dev section since i have <10 post

Like, for example, once I activate the app and press the homescreen shortcut, it shuts the screen but turns on again to the screen lock. This is probably because the android version 4.0.
6.) while playing doubletwist player (music player) it's supposed to show full screen view of the album artwork playing. but what i can see is only the bottom portion of the artwork. (screen lock is enabled in my phone)

In Order to find out wheather the compatibility is missing on CM9 or the Apps side, I have made another list with App issues. It would be useful if this apps could be tested on other Android 4.0 versions or CM9.

THE-E
here maybe one performance problem:
go to telephone/push menu button/settings/scroll
for me, there is one lag while scrolling the first time.
here maybe one bug:
go to settings/developer settings/activate close app (keep pushing back button, to close a app)
then start for example the browser, and then keep pushing the back button so the browser "closed".
then go to taskmanager, and there is still the browser, but without the picture.
I dont know what that means, but I think the browser is closed (someone wrote that maybe the service is still running but i dont know). I dunno if its a bug, but its a bit annoying when the taskmanager is full with apps which I closed.
here maybe another bug:
start opera mini/opera mobile and close it while keep pushing the back button, but it doesnt gets closed, you need to keep pushing the back button two times. (the first time keep pushing the back button -> opera mini/mobile closed for a second but then it appears suddenly and you need to keep pushing the back button a second time)
@The-E:
- lagging while switching to App Drawer [1][2] - possible solution
the link to possible solution is false.

[APP][DEV][09/04/13][4.0+]BuildBox Beta [0.9.5]

BuildBox Beta by MS Team HD Member Tectas
The main intend of this application is to provide an easy to use, but powerful way to serve updates and addons for developers to their users, but it doesn't stop there, it also can be used by the user itself as batch flashing tool for files on the internal or external sd (openrecoveryscript supporting recovery and root are prerequisite).
But please keep in mind, this is still beta stage, so far all is stable, but the code itself needs refactoring still and some additional features i want to add are still missing, also the included images are far from being great.
Why i built this?
The current alternatives public available seemed outdated and not as powerful as they could be, because of the fact that they are closed source i started to build something similar myself from scratch.
What does it serve?
Tabbed UI
Nested lists within the tabs (in theory infinite levels of nesting [but for usability i wouldn't recommend more than 5 steps])
Detail views with many optional fields, like description, changelog, developers, images,...
Completely remotly configured content using json
Optional Md5 verfification
Download queue
Sorting of download queue by drag & drop
Concurrent downloads to achieve full use of bandwidth (configurable amount)
Backup and restore of download queues
Support of every host with direct link capabilities
Support of hosts with up to 5 redirects (note: still direct link redirects, download webpages don't get handled)
Internal retry or resume (if supported by the server) functionality to avoid broken downloads because of unstable connections (up to 5 retries)
Direct install of apks
"External" link handling
Direct flash capabilities (if an openrecoveryscript supporting recovery is installed)
Adding of zips from storage to the queue
Backup/wipe options before flashing
Queue filter to only flash Successful/Done (Successful=downloaded+md5sum correct, Done=donwloaded+no md5sum provided) downloads (md5mismatches can optional be taken in as well)
Update notifications
Configurable interval for update check
Update version filter to avoid multiple notifications per version
New version check on startup
Image recycling and scaling (if an image is used more than once [identified by it's url], it will be downloaded only once and simply reused, also it will be scaled to the fitting size of the view to take as less bandwidth and ram as possible)
more to come...
Why json and not xml?
Xml is pretty good for local configuration, but json is the way to go when it comes to remote content.
It is highly mutable, lightweight and easy to use. Also the possibility for typos and errors is much less than with xml, because simple brackets and key value pairs are used instead of tags.
Last but not least, json files are about half of the sice of xml files if the same content is provided and the possible use of a webservice to provide it is pretty simple.
How to use as rom developer?
The application uses build.prop properties to configure rom update url, content url, rom version and default download directoy.
For update and content url there are also string resources present (to be able to publish the app to the play store to provide the rom itself with it e.g.).
All of this properties are optional (if they are not provided default values are taken).
Within a build.prop it would look like this:
Code:
buildbox.downloaddir=/storage/sdcard0/TestRom
buildbox.version=1.0.3c1
buildbox.updateurl=http://www.test.com/Rom.json
buildbox.contenturl=http://www.test.com/Content.json
The given serverside json files would look like this:
Content.json:
Code:

Common description:
At the content json all root items will be shown as tabs, everything inside them are listitems.
Every item containing another list of items must contain the "children" property.
Every item containing a detail item must contain the "detail" property instead.
Key Value pair description:
Common properties:
"title": "some value" -> this is the title of the chapter/listitem/detailitem (depends on the item type) (if the detailview doesn't contain a title property it will be taken from it's parent)
"thumbnailurl": "some url" -> this is the thumbnail shown at a listitem, it will be loaded asynchronous
"children": [ { some child items } ] -> this property is used to identify that this item contains another list
"detail" : { some detail properties } -> this property is used to identify this item as last item before a detail view is shown
Additional detail properties:
"version": "some version" -> sets the version (must not be inside the detail item, can also be inside his parent)
"description": "some text" -> sets the description (basic html notation can be used for formating)
"type": "zip" -> possible values are zip, apk, web, other, this will override the basic behaviour of parsing the mime type and will directly threaten it as the provided type [if external is used and the url property is given the url property will be taken for opening instead of the first webpages link])
"md5": "a md5sum" -> sets the md5sum of the package (only used for download verification if provided)
"url": "some url" -> the url where the item can be downloaded from
"webpages": [ "some url",
"some other url",
....
] -> if no url provided the first item of this array will be taken as external link, but in common provided as hyperlinks on the detail view to support pages
"images": [ "some url",
"some other url",
....
] -> used to show screenshots,... within the detail view (also loaded asynchronous)
"changelog": [ "a change",
"another change",
......
] -> to show a changelog, also supports html notation
"developers": [ { "some developer name": "" },
{ "another developer name": "some donation or profile page" },
......
] -> used to show the realted developers, if a donation or profile url is given the name will be shown as hyperlink, if it's empty as plain text
Is it open source?
Yes, the java packges are licensed under lgpl, which means they can be integrated within every other application without publishing the source, only if the code inside the packages themself is altered the code has to be published. I have chosen this approach in the open sense of android, everyone is allowed to fork/clone my github repository and do whatever he likes with the code, i just want possible fixes or enhancements to be public available for everyone (also fell free to send me pull requests if you like), that's at least my view of what open source means, all should work together to make the best out of something, if they like to, otherwise, take what is already served or find someone able to do the needed changes.
Wait, two repositories? Why the hell...
Well, it's pretty simple, the library part already includes everything which is needed to get the work done, except of one thing, the main activity. It "only" includes an generic abstract activity which serves the fitting implementations to get it's job done without taking into account how the main activity is build up (be it tabed, with lists or whatever). To make your own UI set up on this activity it serves abstract methods you have to implement to handle e.g. viewing the download queue, updating it while downloading,...
But that's as well only a nice to have and should give you more possibilities if you want to use them, if your fine with the tabed UI I built, simply take the application repository, override the resources you like (if you want to) and your already done. I also splitted it up for easier maintenance, the library part is generic and if something needs to be done another way you're able to by simply deriving from the given interfaces or classes itself within your application, the application itself is always specific (even when the differences can be close to none), so i would have to integrate the changes of the library part allover again to the different branches, if it would be included in one single repository, that way all is detached and much easier to maintain.
Additional Information:
The source itself can be found here (Application) and here (library)
The generic apk (and screenshots) is also available at the play store (if you face any issues, pls don't leave bad reviews, just post it here or send me a pm/mail).
Changelog
The full list of commits can be viewed here (application) and here (library)
0.9.5:
Completely revised the structure of buildbox (is now splitted into 2 repositories, one for the library [includes the whole logic, main views,...] and one for the implementation of the main activity and for resource overriding [MainActivity, TabAdapter, ...)
Added device filter property (can be applied at every level except at the detail items) (uses the ro.product.model build.prop property for comparsion)
Many fixes and enhancements
0.9.3:
Fixed adding files from storage
Fixed crash at startup without internet connection available
0.9.2:
Apk handling fix
Recovery script fix
0.9.1:
Revised Install procedure for apks (thx to lowveld for the hint)
Fixed root shell command execution (sry)
small additional changes
one more just for fun
Just reading through the description is enough to see the level of thought that went into this. Well done mate!
I'll give this a shot later. I'm currently "on vacation" from rom development, but I can see this also as a optional plugin server for "normal" apps! I haven't gone through your github, but replacing the flashing hooks by package manager install procedures should be simple enough!
Cheers

Thx for the feedback and nice to see you here
Well, it is already possible to provide simple apk files and open the packagemanager after download to install them in two possible ways, assure that the mime of the file is apk and it will be threatened that way or simply pass at the detail view configuration "apk" as type and it will be also threatened like one.
But still a good idea to do the install at this point (currently the package manager is triggered when the download of the given apk is finished), the only problem is that all apk installs would be triggered at once (or one by one when the previous install finishes) , with the current behaviour there is at least a little delay and I would have to add a listener for the results of the install activities to be able to trigger the flash process when all apks are installed (or cancelled) and not like it is now, when the recovery script is written, all of this aren't groundbreaking things to implement.
I will keep this in the back of my head, but focus for now to get it out of beta
Edit: well, after thinking about it a bit more in detail, I decided to start to revise it the way you suggested, today evening, thx for the hint, that way it's more solid (and also a better user experience) and by making usage of interfaces also more variable for later additions
AW: [APP][DEV][28/03/13][4.0+]BuildBox Beta [0.9.1]
Update committed, play store update should be available in some hours (the attached one is already updated). Changelog at the second post and at github.
@the one who wrote the review, thx for it, I indeed kept updateme and some other similar apps and what they serve in mind while building this and simply added stuff I missed at those and tried to enhanced them where I thought stuff could be done better.
Edit: damn, sry, don't take the last version yet, I missed to uncomment a line (reboot to recovery isn't preformed when flashing files [can still be done manually though]) and misplaced a return instead of an continue (only affects you if you're testing own configurations with apks), will update it tomorrow morning.

complete revision of the folder and repository structure
addition of a device property which can be applied to every item except detail items to show items/chapters for specific devices only, more info at the changelog and description
I'm still not where it would like to be with this, but anyway i opened a thread at the common android development section already. I will request this thread to be closed. Any further updates,... you wil find here.
Per OP request....This Thread is Closed.

Yes you could use that, but bare in mind that this rom lacks some major features, like sound etc.
It may not be usable as a daily driver..
It's good for us to have you in our forum. hehehe
Hope this could be a good chance to develop Ascend Mate's CM rom as well.

From what I gathered, the emulated Android was not a proven theory. Seeing the recovery working native also makes it look like it is not really emulated. So super good news

The P6 was never emulated. Ever.
Goldfish is a script on every single Android, take any other Android, and you'll see.
The thing giving poor performance mostly is the kernel, which in this case is still stock with a few tweaks, it'll be faster as the ROM is lighter 188MB < +/- 1GB. Also the mods to the kernel will give it improved speed but still not full potential.
The P6 Development has started to take off, give some time and you'll have a great device.

From what I gathered, the emulated Android was not a proven theory. Seeing the recovery working native also makes it look like it is not really emulated. So super good news

the emulated theory was created by someone who have delusion about P6. no base at all.
@surdu_petru or anyone that use cm-10.1 ROM
can you provide me log cat and kmesg (when you use camera, music player or anything related to bugs) and make sure you're use verbose mode.
Thanks,
Best Regards

The most important thing that we need to enable is : sound ! Camera & gps can be done later !
Looking also on Honor2 , cm 10.1 by @kholk, I can not managed to enable sound, cause is there no source code for his cm10.1 !
He has already modified some standard cm librarys , I think was added or removed some dependency, but we can not know what was done , because code source was not pushed to github !
