[Q] Downgrading question (Ace 2 with Beta 4.1.2) - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good evening everyone,
I have followed kyrillos13's guide to install Beta 4.1.2 on my Ace 2 (XXMB4).
I'm not very happy with this firmware, even if I was warned about the bugs and I'd like to downgrade to the old Gingerbread 2.3.6 (XXLL2).
I searched on the internet for tips how to downgrade your actual firmware but I didn't found anything.
Is there a solution to downgrade my ACE 2-4.1.2 firmware to 2.3.6 gingerbread ?
Thanks for your answers

Very few threads about it though!
Try this link, it may be of some help to you.

Thank you

I tried but I did'nt found anything useful and I tried downgrade but it failed

1)Download stock ROM from here
Gingerbread 2.3.6 Package
2)Download Odin
Odin Multi + Downloader
3)Open Odin.
4)Turn off your handset.
5)Reboot into downloading mode (hold the Volume Down Key and the OK button while pressing on the Power button)
.
6)Connect it with the computer.
7)Once the phone is successfully connected, on Odin you should see the “added” message displayed and also the ID:COM section should be yellow now. (If not, try to re install the drivers on your PC and redo the above steps)
.
8)On Odin click on the “OPS” option and select “Cooper_v1.0.ops” and “One package”.(rename the ops file which you have downloaded as cooper_v1.0.ops))
9)Click on the “One Package” tab and just select the update file which you have downloaded and extracted before (“S5830XWKTM_S5830OXXKT3_S5830XWKT7_HOME.tar.md5”) .
10)Don’t make any other changes on Odin.
11)Click on “Start”.
12)Wait for the process to complete the update.
13)In the end the smartphone will reboot and on Odin you should see the “pass” message displayed.
14)You can now remove the USB cord.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHILE DOING ALL THESE STEPS. DON'T MAKE ANY ERRORS. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY KIND OF DAMAGE.

Right, I will do this soon.
Thanks again ( I hit "Thanks" button) and I hope it will work. If not, then I will wait until the Final Version of JB for ace 2 comes out.

I think you gave me the firmware of Ace 1, not the Ace 2 !
Anyway, I didn't tried because of wrong firmware.
Any other help is welcome

[Q] Xperia Play cannot boot after trying to update

Help my xperia play cannot boot anymore after trying to update to 2.3.4 (from 2.3.2). It is rooted (though I am not sure whether bootloader is unlocked most probably it isn't). When it was updating, I accidentally pressed the power button and it switched off. The next moment, I found myself with a bricked phone that just vibrates when I pressed the power button. I tried flashing the rom in already but the situation still persists. Can anyone help?

Well, you don't mention which model of the Play you have. If you aren't sure, you can remove the battery and look on the sticker. It will say something like "R800x" or "R800i", etc.
Once you know what this is, you can reflash the original firmware. This will put the phone back to the original, unrooted stock version, just like it just came out of the box. Most of the firmwares needed are found in this post right here. The firmware file is usually archived either with rar or zip, so you will need to unarchive it. You will also need to download and install Flashtool which can be found here. In the event you can't access the file from there, a mirror link is found here.
Once you have the necessary files, it's pretty easy to do. There are complete instructions on the Flashtool site, but basically you just copy the ftf file into the firmwares folder within the Flashtool folder. Then launch Flashtool and follow the on screen instructions.
Post back with results or questions. And please hit the Thanks button if I helped you.
Nothing
It is still the same.
My Play is r800i by the way

Special ftf file?
I heard that I must use a special ftf file to unbrick my phone. Any ideas? Thanks
I think its from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126354
But then the links are not working (I think)
from my noob knowledge if you ota with bootloader unlocked then you will brick the device but in your 1st post you said you aint sure if its locked or unlocked. then in your second last post you tried to download the FOTAunbrick.exe file but you said the download link is unavailable. download FOTAunbrick.exe and run it (the link isn't dead just downloaded it myself for safe keeping) or xperia_relock_bootloader.ftf(2nd option) i have below. you got nothing to lose.
ps
next time you wanna upgrade just use wontan server(not free) or download an ftf. and flash it via flashtool here with the same instructions dude in the second post has given regarding flashtool steps

The link there is dead in some countries, like the US, as it is MultiUpload. @Solomon4400 - I suggest posting that file up to another site that sonyxperiaplayer can access to download it.
@ sonyxperiaplayer - you actually downloaded the ftf and the flashtool program I linked you to? Because normally that ought to do it.
I agree with netizenmt on this one.
the special ftf files you are seeking is the stock rom firmware he already managed.
As you got r800i, you have to flash the international stock firmware (I guess but I am not sure!) you could also just flash stock rom 2.3.4 - So you can upgrage while saving your phone - instead of re-applieing 2.3.2
Just get flashtool and firmware (ftf file) connect phone to pc, put ftf file in flashtool, follow instructions. Good to go
If you need any firmware files, check my signature. The links in that post actually work.

[GUIDE FOR NOOBS] How to update Xperia S to Android 4.0 ICS: STEP by STEP

I have seen this question posted a dozen times today across several threads, thus, I decided to write a step-by-step, fool proof, noob-oriented simple guide; if somebody asks again please point him/her to this thread to avoid spamming the main discussion / development threads
STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
How to update the Sony Xperia S
to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
NOTICE 1: This guide is for WINDOWS PC USERS, if you have a Mac I can't help you, but the process is very similar
NOTICE 2: It doesn't matter if your phone is rooted or not, bootloader unlocked or not, IT DOESN'T MATTER, this update has nothing to do with SIM unlock, bootloader lock / unlock, root, etc
NOTICE 3: This guide will update your Xperia S from ANY previous version to OFFICIAL SONY ICS ANDROID 4.0.4 and believe me: it is worth the update; HAT TIP TO SONY !!
NOTICE 4: The internal SD card contents will NOT be deleted but everything else inside your phone will be reseted to factory defaults because this is a major update, so do a backup if you want to keep call logs, SMS etc. I only backup my SMS and Whatsapp messages, google backed up everything else because I had the backup option activated in settings
NOTICE 5: Before asking, please read the questions and answers in the thread for many Frequently Asked Questions

STEP 1:
Download the Flashtool
You will find the installers here: http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Go to the "installation" tab, download Flashtool installer v0.9.10.1 and run it
You will have a new folder on your PC: c:\Flashtool
STEP 2:
Download the ICS firmware update
You will find several download options here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723610, just pick one and download it, then come back here
SOME NOTICES (I know you are gonna ask):
- I know it is "Generic Switzerland" (CH) but nevermind: it is plain Sony Generic and works fine for any region and has ALL the languages and keyboards
-The firmware is already prepared to be flashed via Flashtool in .FTF format. If the file you downloaded is .RAR then it is compressed ("zipped") and you need to EXTRACT the .FTF with WinRAR (if you don't have WinRAR download it from here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm)
STEP 3:
Let's update the phone!
- Copy the firmware FTF file to c:\Flashtool\Firmwares
- Go to c:\Flashtool\Drivers and run "Flashtool-drivers.exe" to install the proper drivers for Xperia S
- After installing the USB drivers reboot your PC
- Go to c:\Flashtool and run "FlashTool" (if you have Windows 64 bits, run "FlashTool64")
- Click the flash button (yes: the thunder icon up left)
- Select "Flahsmode" and click "OK"
- Select the "LT26 6.1.A.0.452" firmware and click "OK", DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE
- Flashtool will prepare the files for flashing, just be patient
- A Window will pop up asking you to connect the phone in "Flashmode" showing instructions for an old Xperia phone: ignore it, here is how the Xperia S enters "Flashmode":
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN key
- Keep it pressed, connect the USB cable to your PC
- Release the Volume Down key when phone's GREEN LED lights up
- Flashtool will start flashing automatically, let it finish to 100%
- Disconnect the USB cable when Flashtool reaches 100% and indicates flashing has finished giving some extra info about activating debugging mode etc (don't care, that's optional)
- Turn on your phone (press and hold the Power button for some seconds)
- The first boot takes some minutes, don't worry let your phone prepare your Ice Cream Sandwich for you
- Have fun !! :highfive:
PS1: PLEASE REMEMBER TO SAY "THANKS" to Bin4ry (for the FTF firmware) and Androxyde (for the Flashtool)
PS2: And the usual disclaimer, of course: Follow the steps and be careful, I am not responsible if you brick your phone, burn your house or blow your PC by following this guide; I am just sharing what I did to update my own phone  and it worked for me

1.- Nothing changes. This will only UPDATE the Android system, this will NOT SIM-unlock, unlock or relock bootloader, or root
2.- Yes: I sid ALL languages
3.- I don´t know (I never use it) but I guess yes you could (why not?)
We should take note of unchecking debugging mode in developments before using flashtool to upgrade if you do not want to meet several issues.

1.- it will have switzerland version software of course, and you will be expecting OTAs from this software version, but I wouldn't recommend it
2.- you can always change your software with flashtool
but if you want to use official ways (OTA or PC Companion) then better keep the original software or reflash the original software
With flashtool you can flash this software today and return to your original software tomorrow (should an OTA appears in your region), you can change as many times as you wish

And my last final question is, will this wipe out all user data and the apps? I didnt really see anything about these on the first post(If i missed any I apologize)
will the OTA/PC Companion do the same

Some users avoid wiping all user data but face issues afterwards
It ss always recommended to let the update wipe everything
PC Companion and OTA will wipe everything as well because that's the right way to make such a big update
I will add this to the guide tomorrow
PS: I use SMS backup and restore from google play to backup my SMS messages, and I backup my whatsapp messages from inside whatsapp (it has a backup option). Everything else (including settings, calls, apps, etc) is auto-restored by google

2)Will it Void warrenty

This can be helpful for anyone whose ROM isn't working. It is directed to noobs who accidentally ruins their custom ROM so they can start over. Also the reason why I'm doing this is because I searched the forums and I could not find a guide that was simple for noobs to understand, which would always work no matter what you did wrong. I've used this method so many times and it has saved me countless times. I thought the least I could do was to share.

I understand this reply is far too late but for people in the future:
You cannot upgrade to ICS when your bootloader is unlocked. You can easily lock it again using this small FTF file. When the upgrade with PC companion is complete, you can continiue modifying your phone with custom ROMs etc.

It is very hard for me to know what is causing this problem. Some minor modifications to the flashing procedure can potentially fix it. Try doing it like this: Open FlashTool, drag the FTF-file and drop it in the dialog box. Press ok and wait for the instructions to pop up. When they do, connect the USB-cable FIRST to the phone and after that hold back key while plugging it to the computer. If the battery of the phone is too low I think it can cause problems, try to charge your battery (if possible) and try again. Also make sure to flash the appropriate FTF-file, accordning to your model.

[Q] [Request Help] New to Samsung and Odin

I'll get to the point, I wanted to root my Note 2 since i was very excited to have it. But after root i noticed i couldnt access phone memory it said i had -10????????????? bytes something along those lines. And i couldnt even access my sd card even when plugged to computer. So i decided to flash a stock rom, this is where the problem is, I'm new to odin and samsung so i have no idea what i was doing and i messed up my phone.I can only get into download mode everything else says to try kies recovery again.
I've checked many threads and tried following the steps they give but odin just gives me fail fail fail. It's a headache.
Anyone willing to help in this matter? I have the Galaxy Note II GT-N7100.
Apologies for making this long and not sure if this is the correct place to post this thread, just need help. Thank you.

Hi Dr Ketan, I know nothing about my note 2 but what I do know is that I have an N7105T (LTE) variant because I live in Australia.
Basically what I would like to do is to take off the official Australian rom that is on my note 2 and put on the official Philippines rom instead.
I want to do this because I cannot control the shutter sound on this rom, and Samsung has removed the radio app which I used all the time, also the contact pictures do not exist in the official messaging app (not ghosts they're not there at all). I would like all of these functions on my phone and my friend who bought one from the Philippines online has all of these functions.
I have downloaded odin 3.7 and I have the samsung drivers installed.
could you or anyone please tell me where I have to go to download the correct Philippines N7105 rom from and then give me a step by step on how to back and and flash the new rom?
Thanks so much, please asume I know nothing and include all steps no matter how minor!
Read first post of link i said, there is link for n7105 same kind of thread.
You may get rom there or find on sammobile.com
