1. What do you mean by cam storage?
2. Did you have both ROMs on your device before flashing the first ROM?

SOD and JellyBean roms Problem

I've just modded a friend's kindle.
I installed the FFF 1.4a bootloader and TWRP 2.2.2.1, followed by a Jellybean Rom (Jandycane).
I transferred about a gig of apps and media, and whilst transferring the kindle went into SOD.
I thought nothing of it and tried again with the same result.
So I then flashed (factory reset/ wipe cache/ wipe dalvik/ wipe system/ first)
"Unofficial AOKP Jellybean Milestone 1" followed by "Paranoid Android" (always wiping first).
Both these roms go into SOD whilst transferring via USB.
I'm now going to try an ICS rom (glazed).
I really wanted to give him the latest OS....
Is this an issue with all JB roms?
or am I missing something? (a tweak or mod, perhaps?).
Thanks
No maybe you should try SGT7 by twa_priv http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778010 .

Thanks for that, downloading it now, and will flash later, and let you know how I got on.
I have just tried it with the "Glazed ICS" rom and had the same problem....
I'm just trying the "AOKP Milestone 6 ICS" at the moment.
Maybe it's his kindle...

Downloaded and tried it, but still the same SOD problem (it only occurrs during USB transfer), over both Jellybean and ICS roms
I can't give my friend anything with any issues, he's not a tech-head, and likes stuff to just work.
I have also tried the "Gr9.2-update-modacocustomrom" and it (of course) works absolutely fine...
Also I noticed that the USB transfer was at least twice as quick on the Modaco rom.
So now I'm going to try CM7 based roms...
After you flash the Rom and get everything set up, boot into twrp and mount usb. Transfer your stuff over while mounted like this, it will transfer more quickly and not crash during transfer.

Thanks for your reply, I have in fact been using this method...
However I'm not setting this up for me, I could live with that or just transfer stuff via a file manager over wifi.
The guy I'm setting it up for, is clueless when it comes to tech, and I really would'nt want him messing with recovery, and the file manager way, will be too difficult for him.
I think I'm just going to install the rooted OFW and some apps and have done with it...
I have tried at least 5 JB roms and 3 ICS roms now, all with the same issue (at least on this device).
Is this a known issue? or just an issue with this particular device?
Thanks

I think you must be right, It's not something I've really come across in the forums...
Which is why I asked.
I don't think I've done anything wrong, I rooted, Installed a recovery, then a bootloader, then a custom rom.
I wipe cache, dalvik, system, and factory restore, between each rom flash.
However it's still definately happening on both JB and ICS roms (not the modded kindle firmware).
I guess it's a hardware issue to this particular device.
I've kind of got round it by installing the Modaco custom (kindle) rom, and using a seperate launcher (ADW). It's not Jellybean, but it's a reasonable alternative, especially since my friend is not all that tech-savvy, and would be expecting a bag of jellybeans, if I told him that was the firmware....

Actually, Josepho1997, the SOD is a pretty common problem with large file transfers when not using mounted TWRP. At least with sgt7/cm10 by twa_priv. I don't know about other JB ROMS, but I didn't think that ICS ROMS had that problem. I can't remember what it is, and not everybody experiences it, but if you have anything larger than a couple hundred megs of stuff top transfer, it is highly recommended that you use TWRP for your transfer.

My kindle does the same thing, on jandycane and aokp milestone. I just transfer via wifi.
Cheers

Well, I've encountered exactly same problem with all the JB and ICS roms that I have thrown at it (about 8), which, exactly as you said, after a few hundred mb, just crashes (SOD).

TWRP and wifi both worked fine on all roms, I just needed a foolproof rom, for non-tech person (that only knows have to transfer stuff via USB).
In the end I flashed the modded Kindle firmware, and installed Espier launcher to make it as simple as possible....
I know it loses all of the JB goodness..., but It works fine with USB, and is great for a noob, that is'nt concerned about what OS he's running.
Why not use MTP?

I didn't even know this existed. Is it mentioned anywhere on your jellybean forum? Do you lose or on anything doing out this way?

[Q] Drivers for windows

that is the only option i see that will work so im waiting on a download but thats an hour and a half wait... was wondering if someone know of drivers that would work or if any recovery has a usb mount option
What if you unmounted external sd, take it out, copy your rom to it, put it back in phone and mount it. Not sure if this is possible, I have never tried, but I have unmounted and remounted my extsd while in recovery using TWRP. That's assuming you have an external sd. Good luck.

I didn't have an external at the time. Phone is fixed though.

[Q] Help please, rooted, twrp installed, flashed jb 4.2.2 stock problem

Can anyone help me, I've rooted, installed twrp and then flashed stock jb 4.2.2 and all was well. I then foolishly wiped my sd partition and now when I boot up, the home, back and menu buttons have gone. I don't really know how to get it back. Can anyone help me?

I would flash the ROM back onto it again without wiping anything. That should put things back without deleting any apps you have set up.

Ive tried that, still no luck. Also the wallpaper has gone and the background is black? No idea how to rectify it now. I think that the kindlebackup folder has gone too, would this have anything to do with it?

Odd, I always thought the ROM had everything in it needed.
I have seen on the Atrix where you had to flash twice in a row, because the first time it doesn't see any existing JB files, so it can't install other important files. Flashing the second time works fine because the needed files are copied over on the first flash.
Might be worth a try?

Do you have fff installed?
Actually I got it...fff is installed recovery works and im now running cm10.1 jb 4.2.2....
I made a linux usb drive...i made a cd disk actually...then used kindle fire soup kit to install a custom recovery....then used the same soupkit to boot me into recovery mode...inside recovery I backed up as usual then I flashed cm10.1...now I dirty flashed it so I couldnt immediately get to developer settings and enable adb...but I got there in the end....with that enabled I finally saw android composite device on my pc ...due to the dirty flash I had to get back in recovery wipe system and flash fresh.....out of,linux and now back on windows I downloaded kindle fire utility and used that to install fire fire fire bootloader once android composite device installed...then I reboot kindle to test out bootloader...it worked and it let me change bootmodes from regular to recovery...inside recovery I fixed the dirty flash I did and then I was done....hope this helps anyone...I must note that I previously installed the drivers numerous times but I never saw cpmposite until o was on cm10. But thats me.....Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda app-developers app

Missing from device manager?

I have a new problem. I usually know how to fix these kinds of things but this is different. My kindle fire hd is not being detected by my computer at all. There is no noise when I plug it in and there is no kindle device in the device manager. I tried the cyanogenmod recovery for the first time to update my kindle. I installed the cyanogenmod update and I rebooted. It just booted back into the cyanogenmod recovery. It keeps doing this. Is there a fix?
Original Post:
I have been using cyanogenmod for a while but I wanted to move back to stock. Is there a way to revert back? I do not have a backup because I wiped my internal drive and I forgot I had my backup there.

If there is no way to revert back or you suggest not to, what custom rom should I get? I need one for gaming(mainly), surfing the web, and watching videos (youtube, amazon instant video).

I did not because I installed the recovery and cyanogenmod through the cm updater.
I have seen a problem similar to mine but it was for the kindle fire (not hd). They solved the problem by connecting the kindle with ubuntu.
I am going to install a live disk to see if this will work on mine.
Edit: It looks like it is not a driver issue because ubuntu failed at finding the device. I know that my usb is working because it turns my kindle on when it is plugged in. I think that there is no way to fix this because there seems to be no way to connect my kindle to my computer (I have tried different computers). Any help would be appreciated.
