[TOOL/ZL] [UPDATE 06/04/2013] Flashtool version 0.9.11.0 - Windows / Linux / Mac - Sony Xperia ZL

Here is the final version of Flashtool, compatible with Z/ZL
To clarify about bootloader unlock/relock :
Q : Can Flashtool unlock bootloader for a first time unlock ?
A : Yes, it does it using official sony method (get key, then issue the right fastboot command)
Q : Can Flashtool relock bootloader ?
A : Yes
Q : Can Flashtool unlock bootloader after a relock ?
A : Yes.
With this release, before unlocking first time, root your device and you will be able to backup your TA partition (Raw ta backup). By doing this, you will be able to relock / restore your TA partition and have back BE2 and all DRM keys.
Happy flashing
Flashtool can be downloaded from this page

Your Welcome!

Flashtool error message for phone stuck in bootloop
Hi,
I edited the build.prop on my ZL (fiddled around with manufacturer and model props), and now the phone is stuck in a boot loop. It gets to the Sony logo, but then reboots itself in a loop
--> ADB doesn't work, the phone doesn't boot "far enough". I can get the phone into flashmode (altough green light is not on) and in Fastboot mode (blue light is on).
When I put it into Flash mode and try to flash it using Flashtool Beta 4, I get the following message:
12/057/2013 21:57:07 - INFO - Phone ready for flashmode operations.
12/057/2013 21:57:07 - INFO - Current device : Unknown: Feb 28 2013/16:15:54 - EP730522BH - Unknown: Feb 28 2013/16:15:54 - 1266-7597_10.1.A.1.434 - Unknown: Feb 28 2013/16:15:54
12/057/2013 21:57:07 - INFO - Start Flashing
12/057/2013 21:57:07 - INFO - Processing loader
12/057/2013 21:57:07 - INFO - Ending flash session
12/057/2013 21:57:07 - ERROR - No loader found for this device
12/057/2013 21:57:07 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
Last but not least, PC Companion says that it doesn't recognize my phone - probably for the same reason like Flashtool (I must have messed up some central value in build.prop)
So, no ADB to push a clean build.prop, no Flashtool to flash fresh firmware - any idea why Flashtool gives the above error? Or is there a way to bypass the model check and tell Flashtool what loader to use (it's the C6502 model of the ZL)
I'm thankful for every hint.

Hmmm... Maybe fastboot flash doomloards custom stock kernel, then try again? The error msg sounds like it can't find your boot.img.
Thats the only thing I can think to suggest...

Hmm, looks like my problem has been solved - I initially tried to only flash the system partition, and that didn't work. Then I flashed the whole package, and now this worked...

Get beta5 and apply this update (see attached file). Just replace beta5 x10flasher.jar with this update.

I've been trying to unlock the bootloader on my zl 6506 and I keep getting Error : Drivers need to be installed for connected device
Error : you can find them in the drivers folder of flashtool
When I do look I don't see drivers for the ZL listed. I see the Z drivers listed. I did install the Zz drivers but still get same errors
I have windows 8. I tried unlocking it by Sony's way but I can't get ADB manager to open so Im trying this

22/016/2013 10:17:07 - ERROR - No loader found for this device
22/016/2013 10:17:07 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
I keep getting these errors any one know a fix around them my phone is currently bricked so any sort of advice ASAP would be hugely appreciated

Beta6 sure ? This issue has been resolved in Beta6 normally. When no loader found, FT prompts the user with the devices list to choose manually the connected one.

[Q] Unlocked bootloader but emma (+ flashtool) give error that phone is locked

I have been flashing custom roms and kernels of all sorts for quite some time to my xperia arc but now I have run into a very strange problem. I made a fresh install of windows 7 on my pc and so I had to reinstall flashtool, android sdk (for fastboot mainly) and all the drivers. After I installed all the drivers and software (as I had previously done), I wanted to try the x-gamer v1.8 rom. So I flashed the doomkernel GB relv22. For this kernel I wanted to flash the baseband 36. But when I tried to flash (using flashtool 0.9.10.0) I got a strange error:
Code:
10/032/2013 03:32:31 - INFO - Phone ready for flashmode operations.

10/032/2013 03:32:35 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
I thought may be the bootloader has somehow go locked. So I went for the official sony unlock bootloader website. After following the entire procedure, I got message from the fastboot:
Unlocking failed: The phone is already unlocked.
Then I tried emma. But when I connect my phone to emma in flashmode, it says: Error: The phone is locked.
I don't understand this. What can be the problem. Are the drivers corrupt or there is something wrong with my phone?

flash kernel no problems just in the new version because the kernel is not sewn with flashbootmod, but the flash is basebend, ie problems with flashmod
Problem solved with flashtool 0.6.8.0
So I had an older version of flashtool lying in my hard disk. I uninstalled the latest version and reinstalled the version 0.6.8.0. And boom... it worked like a charm.
So it proves that there is some problem with the latest version of the flashtools. I hope the makers of flashtool will have a look at this thread and correct the error...
By the way, I am still wondering why is emma not working with my phone. Why does it show that the phone is locked.

[Q] Error 0017 flashing stock firmware

I have a Xperia M C1905 and tried to flash the stock firmware using Flashtool. I've tried this process with 4 different firmwares (since many people say the downloaded file is corrupt), but the error persists, so I think it's the phone and not the corrupted firmware.

I've attached the full log (with DEBUG enabled) for more info.
I've also tried this process from different computers, with different USB cables, older versions of Flastool, manaully formatted everything in CWM, but nothing helps.
Does anyone have a clue what is happening?
if you want to return to the stock you can download Sony PC Companion ..( your phone recomend to install it when you connect it with your pc) and click Support Zone to repair your phone...
You must have locked bootloader bcz he will tell you that your system is modified

I can't do that. My phone has currently no ROM installed. Installation of a ROM gave errors, so now I'm trying to get back to stock firmware, but that also gives errors.
PC Companion only detects your phone when it is booted in Android (not in flash, fastboot or CWM mode). So I can't fix it like that.
With the phone disconnected, open PC Companion, go to support zone and choose "Phone/Tablet software update". A small window will open saying that no phone/tablet were detected. In this window, click in "repair my phone/tablet" and follow the instructions...
Ok, now I'm trying to to lock my bootloader again and am stuck there. When I try to lock:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
then it just shows a new line with "..." and nothing else. It is stuck there for 10mins now. I've also tried:
Code:
fastboot oem lock begin
but it is also stuck at "...". I've tried to unlock it again (which worked perfectly), but it seems that it can't be relocked.
Any suggestions?
try this method to relock bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497985
EDIT
just seen you have no rom installed, do you have cwm? what kernel are you on?
Sent from my C1905 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes, there is no ROM installed. Yes, CWM (6.0.4.7) is installed. I'm unsure about my kernel. I flashed so many things in order to get it working, I'm currently not sure which kernel is running. Is there a way to check?
try reflashing cm11 kernel from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584956
then boot into cwm and try to wipe data and cache then try to install cm11 and see if it boots up, if it does try reflashing stock ftf
let me know what happens

Tried that a couple of times. I always get symlink errors. This is my orginal post of the symlink errors: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2680479
That's why I tried to flash the stock firmware, because the custom ROM didn't work.
try flashing stock kernel with cwm from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480556
then retey flashing stock ftf with flashtools and tick wipe data and untick final verification
let me know what happens there

Thanks for helping me, I appriciate it.
What I did now:
1. Connect phone in fastboot mode
2. Flashed combined-xperia-m-boot-2013-10-19.img
3. Unplugged cable
4. Connected phone in flashmode
5. Tried flashing stock ftf (tried 2: C1905_15.1.C.2.8_CE and C1905_15.1.C.1.17_aerialus indo) with all options except "wipte data" disbaled
Still with the same 0017 error, bombing out after Flashtool CommandID 4.
which version of flashtool are you using?

I've used 0.9.14 under Linux, 0.9.13 under Windows, 0.9.11 under Windows. All gave the same error.
have you installed the usb flash drivers for the xperia p&u&sola??
Sent from my C1905 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes, and obviously also the fastboot and flashmode drivers. I've also tried installing the driver pack from here, but still having the problem of 0017.
trying to gather as much info, did you restart pc after installing drivers?
Sent from my C1905 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
try this:
go into cwm and wipe everything then go and mount sd card and ext and try installing a rom, seems like the partition tables are messed up on your device ive read a few things trying to help you
Sent from my C1905 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes, I've restarted my PC after Flashtool and the drivers installation.
I've formatted all partitions, wiped every possible thing under CWM, but installing any ROM gives the symlink error. While I was googeling the symlink problem, a lot of posts popped up saying something is wrong with the partition. I've experienced that under my normal Linux (on my PC), sometimes if the power goes out by accident, the partition table often corrupts for the OS.
My phone worked perfectly one moment, and shortly afterwards my phone was off (the battery was low, so maybe the battery was empty and the phone switched off). When I turned it on again, my Android didn't boot and all these problems started.
So I think that it might have something to do with the partition or partition table - that's probably why I can't install any ROM or even flash it (since it can't write anything to the device). Are there any tools, or options in CWM or fastboot that allows you to fix the partition (or table)?
you could try this tool it supports sony phones
http://www.byclouder.com/products/recovery/partition-recovery-ultimate.html
Sent from my C1905 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried it with CWM booted, in flashmode, fastboot mode and just in normal boot, but the tool doesn't detect my phone. I think one needs Android installed and booted before the tool will detect your phone as a partition.

[Solved] Arc s stuck at airplane mode

Hello guys;
I have a big problem with my xperia arc s lt18i (one of my cousin to be clear), with unlocked bootloader
1) When flashing a stock rom with flash tool, the phone stuck at logo after rebooting
2) When flashing a custom rom, the phone stuck at airplane mode even if the airplane mode is off. There's no signal network and when i try to make a call, it's asking me to leave airplane mode before making a call.
I'v search all the forum and internet, try different custom rom, from cm7 to kitkat but still with the same problem.
How can i fix this ? :crying::crying:

Thank's Electrash for answering. I've try the method given in your guide to relock the bootloader with Blagus ftf file but it's not working (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324703)
I've not found another way to relock the bootloader.

I just found out that it is written ""au by KDDI is11s" on the back cover of the phone. After some search on the net, i discover that this phone is an xperia acro is11s branded for a japan network.
If then, am i using the bad stok files for flashing it ? why is it written Lt18i under the batterry place ?
I also found this thread about someone having the same problem (sorry, didn't saw that before) http://forum.xda-developers.com/gen...lease-help-t2885229/post55617937#post55617937
I'll try to flash the rom given in the site that was suggested to him and give you the result later.
i have found the solution. It's was given in this thread by at0607 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49388077&postcount=18
Step to get your IS11S function fully but 3G (EDGE is OK):
1. Unlock your phone: you will need some money.
2. Download "IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI.ftf" & "LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2184).ftf" or Gingerbread version (google them).
3. Open "IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI.ftf" with 7-zip and extract "loader.sin" & "amss_fs.sin".
4. Open "LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2184).ftf" or Gingerbread version with 7-zip and move "loader.sin" & "amss_fs.sin" into it. Delete "amss_fs_ayame.sin".
5. Flash edited "LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2184).ftf" or Gingerbread version by Flashtool (mine is 0.8.5.0).
I just used differents files :
1. Already have an unlocked phone
2. Used "4.0.1.B.0.118.ftf" file avaible here (https://s.basketbuild.com/filedl/devs?dev=AndroPlus&dl=AndroPlus/IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.118_au.ftf) and Lt18i_4.1.B.0.587_1254-8596_Generic_India.ftf avaible here (
3. Opened "4.0.1.B.0.118.ftf" with 7-zip and extract "loader.sin" & "amss_fs_akane.sin".
4. Opened "Lt18i_4.1.B.0.587_1254-8596_Generic_India.ftf" and move "loader.sin" & "amss_fs_akane.sin" into it. Deleted "amss_fs_ayame.sin" and simlock.ta.
5. Flashed this changed Lt18i_4.1.B.0.587_1254-8596_Generic_India.ftf with flash tool and youpi.
My phone is fully functionnal with ICS.:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

yes i can understand u i do also phones for many friends but sometimes even i get stuck bcuz some little thing i forgot...
but maybe this phone is hw damage... but from the log it seems something id wrong with the file so thats i said to redownload...
the thing is, you can wipe what u want, but still flashmode & fastboot should work. its like dl mode on sammy devices.
to check if you have unlocked bootloader, just power off phone & hold menu key when connecting to pc. if the blue led lit, you can open cmd in folder where adb.exe is (in android sdk) & type fastboot -devices. if its shown, you can try flash a kernel, or even unlock (if its lock), the imei is on the sticker behind the battery
if you once unlocked boot, it will stay unlocked no matter what u wipe or flash. you can manually relock boot, but if not done this its unlock 100%.

[FIX] Restoring Flashmode

UPD: same fix for Xperia L (C2105)
Some phones (I mean only Xperia M of course) for unknown reason can't enter to Flashmode (Vol Down + USB)
This mode obliviously required to flash stock ROM via Flashtool / PC Companion / SEUS
When try to enter it phone just won't connect. But phone itself works fine (can boot).
Yeah, there is stock CWM-backups, but anyway broken mode is not good.
I did some research with user that had this problem and found cause.
Somehow 4th partition (s1sbl2) contain wrong data – it mismatch with OK phone.
Seems there stored loader for dealing with flashing.
After restoring good partition dump Flashmode works!
This helped 2 people, so I want to share this widely.
Do it on your own risk.
If you have custom recovery (CWM / TWRP)
1. Download attached ZIP
2. Copy it somewhere on phone
3. Flash it via recovery like any other ZIP
If you have only root
0. Not rooted? Use Towelroot for 4.3
1. Download attached file 1.img
2. Copy it into root of internal storage
3. Install app Terminal Emulator
4. Launch it and enter su
5. Allow root access
6. Carefully enter this (at the end not number 12, there small L and 2):
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/1.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/s1sbl2

1. Copy that ZIP with fix to sdcard via cardreader
2. Unlock bootloader (required only fastboot, Google for tutorial)
3. Install via fastboot kernel with CWM (link in post)
4. Enter CWM: at Sony logo & purple LED press Vol Up (or Down?)
5. Flash that ZIP
6. Now flash stock ROM via Flashtool
Note: all your data on phone including internal storage will be erased (twice)
Please, write here about result.

No.
You need install CWM via fastboot after unlocking bootloader.
I already described this.

So you don't need this fix if Flashtool recognize phone.
What actually happen with phone?
Suddenly rebooted and stuck and animation?
Log probably point to often problem with NAND chip - it just going broken, similar to HDD / SSD.

Unfortunately, very likely this is classic faulty NAND memory problem.
There's a lot people faced this on XDA and other forums.
Only replacing board, probably by warranty.

It's normal, just flash stock via Flashtool
Or you can't due broken flashmode?

You definitely just need flash stock via Flashtool.
Forget about USB debugging, it's totally unrelated here.
Just carefully follow flashing tutorial
You need flash not in fastboot mode, but in flashmode.
