C6502 Pressure Sensor - Sony Xperia ZL

Did anyone here with a 6502 manage to see their pressure sensor working? White papers said it was to have this.
I've tried several apps and none see this sensor.
Is it really there??!!

what app did you test it with?

I don't think that any pressure sensor is placed inside the ZL c6502 because sony service menu *#*#7378423#*#* which contains service tests also does not tests the pressure sensor test.
I think Sony forgot to put the sensor.....

I don't quite get whether the pressure sensor you guys are talking about is the same as barometer or not. About barometer read this. I have C6502 (black) and it must have the barometer sensor as it shows the altitude of present landscape correctly (screenshot below). U can use the app altitude from playstore or service test (for GPS). Although, it seems likely that pressure sensor is a different sensor coz service menu shows it as a separate test, which states that this phone doesn't have it. But it fails to test IrDA too (which we all have working), so I can't say much about it.

Pressure Sensor = Barometer.
The two are the same.
You're getting the altitude lock from GPS.
Try turning GPS OFF and getting an altitude reading. If you can do that, then it has the barometer functioning. Not otherwise.

Ok. The app (altitude) requires GPS to work, hence no altitude info without it. So, it seems either we don't have the pressure sensor or the apps are unable to access it.

Sorry just re-read my post, didn't mention what setting you had to calibrate.
In the Display settings under G-Sensor calibration. Make sure you place it on a flat surface.
i have tried it now but what is it to do with the screen sensor?
i havr just checked if it helps and it didnt :-(

[Q] Xperia Arc S - face detection

I don't want to use it for face lock and things like that.
According to the specs, the camera supports detection of faces (I don't know how)...
The idea was to have some application that identifies the faces of the people already tagged, for easier manipulation.... or something like that.
Oh,sorry i misunderstood!
Yeah you have face detection in Xperia Arc S stock camera itself!
Try using it..
It detects faces with some yellow or green square around the face!

It seems that the ROM I am using does not have that.... I have to find a workaround...
It should be built in rite?
Try capturing direct faces n see!

It was, I just need to activate the smile 'stuff' on settings....
edited:
it was not even that... it is just working now, with the updated version of the ROM...
edit2:
actually, it seems that FB inside Xperia is needed.
And somehow... it does not seem to recognize or tag anyone. Indeed, the yellow square is there...put in the gallery the photo is still untagged.
Glad to hear!
Note: Yeah it just recognizes faces.. In order to tag them, you need fb inside Xperia!

I don't think that calibration is possible, rather a warranty claim. Did you try the app Proximity Sensor Finder and trying to cover/uncover the sensor under different light conditions?

Camera cannot focus near objects !!

Hi all
I've been using this device for long. Recently while taking few pics i realized that camera couldn't on near objects. It can only focus on near objects upto a certain focal length and for lesser distance it focuses on far object and hence subject is blurred while background becomes focussed.. Anyone else having this issue.??
Sent from my C6503 using xda app-developers app
I've just taken a picture of my mouse.
The spot I marked is the spot I let my device focus, its nearly exactly 6 centimeters from the camera away.

I think that's a decent result... I tried to place my mouse a little bit closer, but then the focus couldn't handle it anymore.

If you are running older OS yes it happens, but newer version after 253 closeups are pretty good. 244 takes flawless closeups
Which camera mode are you using..
Yes i am using 244 firmware still it doesn't focus sometimes

It works fine here at 2-3cm, but not with button - You need to tap the screen on the object you need to focus. Try, maybe it will help.

Yep, the camera button doesn't try to focus that closely. If you touch the object on screen it'll focus just fine.
Thanks. I tried but it works much better with Normal mode. superior auto cannot seem to focus

Frankly speaking superior auto takes lit of time to set itself and fails its purpose that is to take pictures in hurry. Custom settings does fantastic job.

Any idea if this behavior can be tweaked? What's the point of a 2-stage shutter key if the focus doesn't work as intended?

Unless most of your shots are macro i'm pretty sure it works.
I think you can use "macro" setting when you take a close up photo.
I never use auto. Always select area and focus manually. Sooo much better

Tempurature, Humidity and Pressure Apps

I haven't seen this posted yet but the S4 sensor apps work fine on the Note 3. Here are a couple that seem very nice.

This one is just for humidity and temperature:

I didn't think the note 3 had a temp sensor outside

It sure does, try one of the apps out.
I have the S4 and just got the N3, i notice while the temp readout is nearly matched, the humidity is out by up to 8%.
