[Q] Why is Facebook not compatible (according to the Play store) with i317m? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Can anyone think of a reason that the Google Play store would be telling me that the Facebook app is not compatible with my device?
(A Galaxy Note II i317m running CleanROM ACE 4.6.1)

Could you provide a bit more elaboration?
I don't quite understand the suggestion - I can't clear app data, if the app isn't installed.

I think he meant clear app data for the play store.

This can also be caused by modified CSC files and modified dpi that isn't compatible with the app.

Understood.
Clearing the app data for the play store didn't work.
You're probably on to something with respect to DPI. I'm running a DPI of 280, instead of 320 (which I believe is default). Presumably I can either:
1) Set per app DPI for the play store to be 320, and that would let me install Facebook?
or
2) Set system DPI back to default, install Facebook, and the pull it back down to 280?
I'll try both - and report back.
EDIT: Neither approach worked. I may just pull facebook from another phone.

After you reset your DPI you need to clear Google Play Store and Google Services Framework, restart then try to download it.

Didn't work
What did work, was grabbing the APK from another phone, moving it through dropbox, root explorer, into the correct folder on the new phone, and setting permissions manually. After a reboot, Facebook arrived, worked perfectly, and even received a Play store update (wasn't expecting that).

I noticed that there's a module for Xposed framework that apparently resolves this issue, so I've added that now too. Hopefully that will prevent issues in the future.

You should still be able to download it if you had it in the past. Look under My apps > All
I couldn't find it on the Play Store when I searched using the Play app. I Googled "Flash Player 11 apk" (from my phone) and saw the link to it on the web Play store. Hit the link, and chose to open it with the Play Store app rather than the Web and it came up fine. Was able to install it from there, but just searching for it on the phone in the Play store yielded no results. Weird.
BTW, still on Rooted Stock 4.0
In case anyone wants the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adobe.flashplayer&hl=en
Although as others have stated, it is no longer supported by Adobe and active development has ceased in hopes HTML5 takes off.
Sort of on this subject. Samsung Apps store (the webpage) just removed all references to T999 and anything but i9300. There was a free app that is listed for the T999, and you can even find it in google cache, but no US devices are supported by the store.

Are you on 4.0 still or are you running a 4.1 rom? 4.0 should still let you install, but since they have stopped support for anything beyond 4.0, it will give you the incompatible device error. Either way, if you're looking for the .apk and are on 4.1 I've attached it to this post.

I believe I was able to install in my S3 but I know when I just flashed an ICS rom on my Tab 10.1 that I didn't have flash anymore. Tried to find it in the Play store searching for "flash" adobe flash" and even adobe in general returned nothing. Googled adobe flash from my browser, clicked on adobe and it gave me the option for web or play store app. I chose play store app and was able to install it from there.

[App] NEW Play Store 3.9.16 !

What's New
The most notable and immediately apparent new feature is the long overdue ability to remove apps you've previously downloaded from the All Apps list. If you like to try a lot of apps, that list is likely very cluttered. With the new Google Play, you can trim it to your heart's content.

Make a backup before trying!
Anyways, you can try..
Goto system/app, rename play store apk (i always just add ".bac")
Reboot. Use a root explorer, rename new play store, drop it into system/app. Reboot again. Should be good

What apps are safe to delete?

Hey guys,
I want to delete some apps from the Nexus 4 like Currents, Books, Videos etc.
Are these safe to delete?
I've rooted so I suppose I could just delete them through Root Explorer or something?
Here's a guide about what apps are safe to delete
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/barebones
It's a bit outdated but I've deleted the Email app, Currents, Play Magazines, Play Movies, Play Books, Stock Launcher.
However when I was trying to update to 4.2.1 yesterday it gave me an error about how the native Email client was missing and would not let me update. So I had to flash the factory image, update, and then delete the apps again.
Thanks for the reply man. A bit worrying, though, that it won't let me update.

dont have to flash factory image.. just copy them back to system and fix permissions. I had the error too but lucky after the update, I made a backup of the apps I want deleted before i delete them. Its in my dropbox now ready for the next update someone in the dev forum has an odex and deodex rom.. use the odex rom if you want the apps back. This is the post.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010887 he might make a JOP40D, dont know..
Titanium Backup will let you freeze these apps without having to delete them from your device. They will not appear in you apps drawer and you won't be able to use them until you un-freeze them.

Firstly, this belongs in the Q&A section. Secondly, try to uninstall the app then reinstall through the play store.
Sorry, if a mod could move it that would be great. I did reinstall it, still tries to download. I can force stop it by force stopping downloads, but as soon as anything else starts downloading it just restarts the attempted download of Facebook too.

I'm seeing this on my droid RAZR m as well. Its Verizon, I'm wondering if this is carrier specific. Still trying to to figure out how to make it go away. I don't have FB at all.
Is just an internal fb update.... Facebook 2.3
I saw it earlier and got a lil worry so i looked it up and found this forum!!! so i did what i read... Open download manager and then go to other downloads you should see it here just send it to trash and it fixed it! but then i my sister showed me the same thing and we just waited, finally it downloaded all of it (around 15 MB) and gave her a facebook update screen! saying it was a new version (facebook 2.3) that enables you to mark as spam posts and other stuff!!! NOW i feel like a [email protected] for reading about it and erasing it... hope it comes back on the market as a regular update and that some of you read this and just be patient! :fingers-crossed: GOOD LUCK AND IF SOMEBODY HAS A APK VERSION OF IT ALREADY PLS REPOST! I had the same problem . I yesterday externally installed Swype kepboard and this problem seems to have arised since then. Not sure however if i can directly blame this on the Swype. Anyways, one sure thing is that this download is unlikely to be a genuine facebook update & its more likely to be a spyware of some kind.
This is what i did & it seems to have stopped popping up since then. Hold the Download till u get an "App Info" option. Then click disable instead of Force stop. It has'nt restarted for me since then .

The scary thing here is it really is a genuine facebook update; see the links I have included below. They are going around the Play store for this and future updates. Which is scary enough on its own because a smart hacker could mimic this in the near future to inject malware. Also, in my case the update failed and now I can't use the version from the play store or this one.
I have complained to Google play about this because they are violation the developer terms; I also provided "feedback" to Facebook! I would recommend others complain to both also to let them know how their customers feel.

google play store

I just flashed Minitab onto my Note 2 and now the Google Play store is telling most of the apps I need are not compatible. Is there a working around other than finding what I need online. Im really digging this ROM but its useless without good apps.
I just came off that one...In the apps there is one, I can't remember the name, but it allows you to fool google about what kind of phone you're using and lets you download all your apps...
I presume that ROM changes to a non stock dpi.
DPI incompatibility. You'll need to reset your device to stock dpi, reboot, clear Play data, reboot, and open Play again.... Then change back to your custom dpi.

Install the xposed framework and the multidpi google play module.
I cannot find the thread for the module, so here it is in my dropbox.
On August 29th at 02:14 my Note2 will become self-aware

I believe "Market Helper" is the app you are looking for to 'trick' the play store into thinking you are on a different device
