Lost my spen, can I call att for warranty? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Will they request the original spen when we claim warranty?

Pretty sure losing something doesn't fall under standard warranty. I think you can get a new spen for 30$

It's worth a try to ask I guess. If not you can buy a replacement on amazon.

they will send you a replacement first, the replacement should not come with an s pen so they will not expect one back. It also will not come with a battery, backplate or charger.

So you LOST the spen and want to file a warranty claim as opposed to just buying a replacement from Amazon?? Too funny... good luck with that...
Fyi.. they check the contents on the back end so when the pen is missing they will charge you for it and who knows what inflated price you'll get hit with.

Well, I used the 50% of coupon that Samsung sent me and bought a new one from Samsung. $20 shipped.

[Q] Broke my screen, anyone have a good place to reccomend for parts?

It's the T989, I just want to buy the whole front piece including the LCD, any help would be appreciated and yes I already looked on ebay

Any unlocking cell shop in Florida can carry the devices parts. Might have to wait a few days but by then it would be cheaper than getting a new phone

My parts guy is getting the whole front end including bezel for $200, but my phone will look like a zebra because the front is black lol
How much would it cost u for replacement? Thats kinda high ,here on my end they charge about $100

I don't have insurance for t-mobile, I use simple, so I have to buy the part straight out I guess
Ahh that sucks. But my opinion, I rather buy another one just to have . Extra battery which is how I got mines. Paid 100$ and it came with a battery charger and 2 batteries included. Someone was hurting for money I guess. I didnt inspect it or nothing. Had water damage. Sent it in to tmo and the sent me another one for an extra 20$. Can't beat it for the price I paid

true, I'm going to have to see if I can find a stronger case, if not, I might just go buy a commando for verizon, these phones are getting to expensive to repair these days

Regarding AT&T insurance and a Note 2

As I was getting out of the car the other day, my phone slipped out of my pocket and hit the concrete, shattering the screen. It's obviously still usable, but annoying. It's a Note 1. I have the AT&T insurance and since I wasn't available for an upgrade for a while, I figured I would just pay the $200 and get a replacement Note.
As I was filling out the form, it verified that I had a Note 1. As I continued to go through the form, it said that I wouldn't be getting a replacement Note 1, but a Note 2. I was pleasantly surprised by this. My question is, to any who have gotten a phone replaced from AT&T, do they tend to send a new phone or a refurbished phone?

Wow...very nice! I've never been through this process, but I assure you, you will love the Note 2. Make sure you get a good case. I have the Ionic Gaurdian for approx $10 from Amazon, its a good case.

If its a Insurance claim for a Lost/Stolen/Or Damaged phone you should be getting a Brand New Replacement as if you just bought it from the store. If you were doing a warranty replacement thought you'd get a refurbished unit.

I had my galaxy s3 replaced by att insurance. As far as I could tell it was brand new with the OEM box and new accessories. Then I upgraded to the note 2 lol

Just had my GN2 replaced under the insurance for damage due to a fall.
I was sent a refurbished unit. It looks 100% new. It is flawless.
Plus they sent it next day shipping which I was thankful for.
Overall it was a pretty smooth and simple process.

I work for AT&T, but not Asurion. But I can assure you that they send out refurbished units.
There are some circumstances that they would send out a new phone, but that is only very rare. But by practice and 99% of the time, it will be refurbished.

Everything that have been sent to me as a replacement, have been refurbish. But it might b something very minor that you can't see why it was refurbish!

Well, I got my replacement from Asurion. Weather it's a refurb or not, I'm not sure, but it looks pristine to me. I just wish they would have given me the opportunity out pick which color phone I wanted. I like the gray, or what ever it's called, but I've had white phones for as long as I can remember.
Can't complain to much though, I was just wanting a replacement for my Note 1 and ended up with a Note 2, so I'm happy.

Question about 14 day return for sprint

I priced matched my note at best buy about 4 days ago. I noticed that it has some light that shines through the left bezel on the phone. It is annoying in dark rooms. Since I'm in my 14 day return policy will best buy give me a new one if I take it in there about that problem or can they refuse to exchange it? Thanks for the tip. Also I've seen about 5 other white note 2s and mine is the only one with that issue.

I would do it. It's a defect on a phone under 30 days. If they say no then return it.

Brand new vs refurbished

How can you tell?
Depends what they replace. A bad refurb could have scratches or scuffs whereas a good refurb would look brand new

There really is no way other than physical damage. It's not like the put a refurb sticker under the batter or something like that.

Request the imei from the seller. Call att and ask them if it is refurbished.

Insurance question

My girlfriend just lost her note 2 and I was wondering if the insurance will send us a new note 2 or a refurbished one . Anyone already went throigh insurance with this phone ?

it'll most likely be a refurbished one. any warranty replacements are always refurbished phones so this case shouldn't be any different.
You won't know the difference both are new.

I recieved a replacement about a month ago from asurion and it was brand new in a sealed box battery spen back cover. And I know of 3 other people on xda that have gown replacements thru asurion. All received new phones

They can send you a new or refurbished depending on your luck. Of all my experience I have only heard, with own ears (and they kept their promise), Google, say that they only replace their warranty claims with new devices.
Well my girl ended up recieving a brand new replacement in sealed box with all accessories, which I thought was cool. Thank you guys for the replies and im thinking all replacements are new or refurbished according to reason for claim.
Every refurbished replacement I have gotten so far (all android phone historically) have come with a defect and I call Asurion and then they overnight a brand new one.
Sorry if I should have started a new thread, but it is insurance related.
My wife dropped her phone and cracked the screen.
It's an s3.
We pay the $7 or so per month for insurance, but they want a $150 deductible.
Is this how it works?
And if I'm paying a deductible, I want a brand new phone, not a refurbished old one.

I just read in a thread on the S3 page that asurion is replacing broken S3s with new LTE S3s due to stock issues. Make sure you don't put the sim card in an old phone before you call and make the claim, they will switch the insurance to that phone. If you already have put the sim in the broken phone and run it that way for a day or two. Asurion can tell.
Check the last posts of the linked thread. Some of the thread is sketchy but some of it is able to be used legitimately.
