Turning black galaxy s2 into white - Galaxy S II Accessories

I've been a while wanting to transform my black galaxy into a white one. I've been reading a lot of posts and I can see that the main problem is that it's pretty difficult to change the frontal screen into white, cause if you change that part the screen is going to break, And of course, buying a white full screen is insane cause it's just too expensive. However, I've seen a screen for 8 dollars in ebay (apparently it's not just the frontal, it's the full screen) and I would like you guys to tell me if you would recommend this screen:

It's way too much trouble. If you want to change the phone to white, you might as well buy a white GSII. If you change screen, you'll need the chrome bezel-ed frame as well.(black screen has a black frame). Then you'll need a new white housing. I wonder how many internal hardware components will break in the process?

Or you could make it black and white. Mine was originally black. All I did was change the back housing to white, and viola. All for just 12 bucks on ebay. I want some uniqueness in the World of monotonic black and white, red and pink S2s. A certain combination. Mine is a 2000Mah setup so it'll appear thicker because of the supplied battery cover.
(Also in my sig, but I uploaded higher res pics + more of them.)
Good luck.

I opted for an all aluminium-glass-carbon fiber appearance and feel for my black GS2. It feels like a completely different phone!

That is one good looking s2 man were did you get that???
MS1 Neatrom 4.4 Jeboo 4.x +

It's a normal Galaxy S2 with a Sweet-armor and some carbon fiber 3M Di-Noc cut to size on the battery cover.

The "chrome bezel" bit is part of the metal plate that the lcd is glued to.
Take your phone to Charlie from Boyd Coddington (American Hot Rod).He could spray it any colour you want.

I think it doesn't look that great with the back covering in black and the front part in white . Anyways I think the screen was good and I've just made a mistake. I think there was an error, and the screen costs now 86$. I should have bought it U_u

There was no error; $86 seems like a much more appropriate price for a GS2 AMOLED panel. You can buy the glass separately, and install it separately, although it is highly recommended that you don't. And do you mean front part in black and back part in white?

The chrome bezel is actually made of black plastic painted using chrome paint.

Yes, but it is in fact attached (molded) to a metal frame (looks like a magnesium alloy) which is a midsection of the device...

I've an image captured when it cost 8$. They've just changed it.

So you changed the front screen to white and the back to black? Or are you saying I made my S2 uglier than usual with the black in front and the white behind? haha I thought the black will blend with the screen well enough at certain angles. I don't like white front phones either, since screens are usually bluish black. I can't imagine what it'll look like with a white front and a black back.
Anyway for those wondering whether if the camera and vibrator modules are stucked on to it permanently, no they are just held with a piece of tape to the assembly and it's easy to pry them apart with a pair of tweezers with careful handling.
This 30 minute highly detailed and carefully explained, about disassembling the S2 should do it. Good luck.

Yeah, it might be a bit bulkier, but it feels like much more of a phone, if you know what I mean. From the top of my head, the S2 weighs 116g, and my S2 with case and battery and all weighs about 158g. It is much heavier, but I like it.

It is true; officially, the Galaxy S2 only supports up to 32 GB, but that's because SDXC cards are formatted using exFAT by default. If you format it using FAT32, then you're good to go.

You can always buy those colored screen protectors.. I dont know what they're called. They're very cheap too. Just change the back to white and buy one of these for the front

Vibrant White Glass :)

Ok, So I really wanted the new Samsung Galaxy S2 (Euro) because it has the white with that iphone look but much cool-er.
But forking out that money is a no no.
So after looking I found a white glass for the vibrant along with the white bezel you will get a 1 of a kinda white vibrant!!!!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-Outer...985?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbeda8621
I just purchased it last night. I will purchase the white housing when I get back home and will see how it goes.
If anyone has this already please let me see some pictures
Ooh, update us on how that works for you. I know how to replace bezel/housing, but I don't know how to do JUST the glass since I think the digitizer is literally glued on. Pictures too! (My reaction to the EBAY listing: Holy ****ing ****! GAAAAAASP!)
If yours works out, I'm so getting one! I really wanted to updated to the S2 as well purely for aesthetic reasons but I heard it doesn't work well with Tmo 3g ):
I am interested in this too. Please get back to us and let us know how it went. I have broken glass and this would be the cheapest fix.
Glad that you're trying this as I kinda want to also. I've heard that the OLED and Digitizer are glued on so you can't just try to pry it off.
If I were trying it, I would try to take an exacto knife blade and cut carefully (oh so carefully) through the glue instead of trying to peel up the screen, which is really fragile. Do you have any kind of plan?
Unfortunately, there isn't much information out there on taking the screen glass off without replacing the whole screen so any info you can give will help out a lot of people who are interested in replacing cracked/scratched glass as well.
Best of luck and please let us know how it turns out!
i will be interested too please someone make a video
Well, One of my co-workers is going to do the job for me. I saw him tackle an IPhone 4 screen replacement too. I have in the past did replace some phone screens on a mytouch and mytouch 4g.
I will see about getting detailed pictures when he does the job. I'm going to be researching it here on out too. Downside is the time it takes to get here!!!!!
Do what you can about tutorial, video or pictures, what ever it may be. I saw this a bought one immediately. I already have a nice back cover in white that has Samsung and Powered by Google on it, so thought this would be an excellent pair.
Let us know
Is it even possible to just replace the glass without the digitizer? I thought it was almost a single unit and you would have to replace both.
I would really like to know.
Just to let you guys know, the listing looks like it has a hole for the FFC. It would be a problem for those with it, but it might irk those without it.

That's nothing a little dab of white paint couldn't fix.
...also, why would it be a problem for people WITH the front facing camera? Seems ideal to me.
Seeing as the glass/digitizer-lcd is nearly impossible to separate with both intact, I was just thinking of gluing the glass to a screen protector, then applying that on the phone. Finish off with a hard case or silicone that covers the bezel (and a little of the phone so it also covers the edge of the glass (which I'm sure will be raised higher due to just putting it on top), and voila!
Having this succeeded would seriously help. I'm this close to just getting the Intl SGS2, but ahh, it wont work with Tmo past Edge .. ;_;
Anyone ever tried/seen a white bezel? Sand it down, paint it? I've seen a gold bezel, but that's about it. Wow, white and gold

You are saying that you'd have a screen protector on top of a stack of two screens? I'd say that's an idea you shouldn't pursue, one because you're going to ruin the quality of the image you see, and two, you won't be able to touch your digitizer on the lower screen. Screen no workie!
If you've got to have a white border and you're not willing to get the whole shebang replaced, I'd say go with some cut vinyl. That's the cheapest route (time and money investment) that you could take. It would be interesting to see a white bezel. (the white Samsung Fascinate was so nice!) It seems like it would be paintable once you scuff up the surface. I just decided to find a solid white tpu case and it looks great in it. Covers the bezel perfectly.

Hm, you're right. Didn't think about the screen quality after two glasses/protectors ;_; I've tried the vinyl cut-out but after a while, I started to really notice/feel the edge of the vinyl when I'm swiping things around. So I really want to try the glass lens.
I'm going to look up that solid white tpu! I've only ever seen transparent TPUs
So is there anyway to really use this?
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recieved the glass.
Now, I want to try this so bad but Im need to be smart about this or I won't have a working phone.
I need to try this on a non working phone. If anyone still has or knows anyone with a screen with glass that is broken. Please let me know.
I will try and remove the OLED screen from it and see if it can be done.
Ooh, can you post pictures? I want to see how thick the glass is
Ha, this sounds like quite the project. I'll be anxious to see photos.
And it would probably look something like this to get it done:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT7wRXeYsyg
Too much work.
This mod wouldn't work unless you know how to attach a digitizer onto a glass screen, also check the listing again - the glass comes without a flex cable soldered on.

Noobish guide -Turning Black T989 into white with white battery door and vinyl decal

This with reference with other threads talking about changing colours:
such as minotauri's thread so check his thread out too.
Purpose of this thread
Just wanted to share my pics (at Bottom) and helpful tips for any first time doers to customizing...or have a place where you can ask questions some noobs might think are stupid but it's cool that what this is for
Obviously i'm not responsable for anything that YOU do TO YOUR phone ...just a disclaimer just incase...obviously this is not rocket science but better safe ...and OBviously Not responsible for the Sellers on ebay...and what they do. Your actions are your own...thanks now that's clear ...we move on.
Ok so i had a black t989d samsung galaxy S II from telus
I bought a white vinyl decal and a white battery door of ebay.
Ebay links of the ones i bought (links may expire over time)
White Door : http://www.ebay.ca/itm/OEM-BATTERY-...785829?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item35b9c24ee5
White vinyl decal (basically like a sticker but it will not leave marks or glue on you screen so it's safe)
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/White-Vinyl-...495791?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19cd79d3ef
Tips :to applying the vinly on the front
i would recommend buying 2 vinyls just to be safe or mess up sticking it properly...the stickness is best the first time/ second time
Clean your phone first -microfibre clothes are best...like those tiny cloth sheets that comes with sunglasses
I say second time only if you didn't press down firmly on it to make it stick if you just gentle drop on using mainly the weight of the sticker itself it cool to remove it and re-adjust 2 maybe 3 times
Obviously remove the holes for the camera and hearing speaker
Use the bezel, the silver frame that goes around the sides of your phone to guide yourself to being straight
APPLYING:
The way i apply it is holding the top Thick / fat part (front facing camera ) on edges (so it doesn't stick to my fingers) with first finger and thumb rougly around the centre same thing with the bottom part with the 4 android buttons (both hands being above the sticky part not below)
then use my middle fingers to push the lines along the frame to make them come straight....more importantly trying to line up the bottom so the lights light up the drawings on the stick for the 4 button it won't come perfect which is ok but the light should be really close to it if you line up the bottom with the silver frame
Note for the camera part there's an outline sticker that goes around the camera piece as well ...for that remove the battery door is makes it easier
What my black phone looks like after:
Front and back image - Pic 1 and 2
Battery door / camera piece can be seen- Pic 3
LED light 4 buttons - Pic 4
DON't forget to HIT the THANKS button (thumbs up) if you found this helpful

Umm sure but the screen protector should ideally, either cover the entire front including the top, like around the front camera etc...or be the same size or smaller then the rectangle that fits inside the frame of the white vinyl ...only because it will have a weird little raised outline underneath of the protector...if you don't mind that then yeah should be fine...hopefully that makes sense what i said and it's not confusing LOL (PS unfortuantely it doesn't come a protector for the screen)
an alternative...just an opinion ... would be you could get another screen protector (i know a lil more costly) then remove the old one...place the white vinyl on the phone take the new protector (without pealing the back thingy that protectors the stickness) place on top of the phone trace with a marker (on the side that peals away of course)cut the outline with an exacto (X-acto) knife *after tracing, take it of the phone to use the exacto lol just saying to be safe...never know people may try exacto on top of their phone LOL *
Hope that helps...feel free to ask any other questions

yeahh that is a bit tricky but if you look closely i'm not exactly on the light i'm slightly off ...it's nearly impossible to get it dead on 100% but if the light falls under to light up the printed button it should be good enough....i actually mainly focused on the framing the whole as straight as possible using the bezel (silver frame of the phone) as the guide...the button should line up roughly 95% if you get it straight frame on frame... if it helps my top corners both left and right have a lil black space showing (around the curves) you can't even see it really....it cuz i focused on making sure my front camera and senors were not covered and then lined everything up downwards.....hopefully this makes some sense...LOL
wow nice job looks just like my white SGS2

[Q] poor paint job on bezel gray colour

hey guys
i just got the grey N2, and i noticed that the paint job on the bezel is not that great.
I was wondering if replacing the bezel is easy for future replacements. I used to change the bezel easily on Galaxy note 1, where i had to just unscrew some screws.
I was wondering if there is any dis assembly guide for Note 2
what do you mean? can you post a picture? i was just about to buy the grey version couple of hours ago

I watched this video the other day and I am honestly not too sure why he was struggling or taking so long in this (I know it was his first try) but it still makes me think whether it's simple or not
its difficult to capture on camera, once yu tilt the bezel on a certain angle to the light you will notice that it has like some blemishes so it depends on which angle you will look at it.
you need a good eye to see what I mean.
Anyhow still the grey is better looking than the white

Yes, mine is similar. There is one spot where if you catch it in the right light you can see a blemish , about 3 mm long.It is very difficult to see normally, but you can even feel a difference when running your nail over the area.It is right on the edge of the bezel where it meets the glass.
my blemishes are in form of like tiny spots dam I wished I got the white one, as it seems this bezel is easy to be scratched,
I had that too with my first note, but I bought a new bezel over ebay and it was easy to be replaced, as for the video disambly of note 2 seems to be the same as note 1 but needs more work to get the screen out of the bezel
we might get a better video of removing the bezel as in the video he made it look tough to do

yes they do, they have the titanium grey and the sapphire black and the red as well. they have the battery covers to go along wqith it as well except for the black i think. those whole screen units you see for 269 come with basically the whole front piece of the phone which also include the bezel. you can use your existing interior black peice which houses the battery and just replace battery cover with matching screen digitizer combo
Grrr that site NEVER loads the pictures in a search and I don't have time to load EVERY SINGLE PAGE just to see what stuff looks like

Nexus 5X battery back cover colour vs body differences?

Hi,
Just wondering, is there any difference between the various Nexus 5X bodies / frames and the different battery cover colours? Is it just the back cover which is different?
I only ask because the Nexus 5 before it, the white one had far more cosmetic differences compared to the black one. The red one was cosmetically completely different all round. The earpiece dot was a different colour, and the body was matt-black on black model, and gloss-black on white model. Obviously the red one was, well, red.
Is it the same / similar with Nexus 5X?
There is presently a £40 GBP difference between black and white models in the UK (so I bought the cheaper black one, instead of the white I really wanted), but a genuine replacement cover (in any colour) costs around £18.
Anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks.
I have the white one, and looking at it, the only bits that seem like they'd be different on the black model are the backplate itself and the fingerprint scanner (though perhaps that is a cover built into the backplate? I'm not sure how that works!)
Other than that... The entire front including speaker grates of the white N5X are black. The sides and buttons on the white 5x are black. The headphone cutout is half black and half white (because it cuts through the backplate that wraps around the sides). I haven't seen the black one up close though.
The only difference is the colour. All 3 are prone to discolouration, the black from hand oils the white and blue from clothing.
Hmm, that's interesting....LG saving money perhaps...the cosmetic differences for N5's were much more significant. Thanks guys!
@funmerlin, so...are the sides of the white model a matt black or gloss black? I think the fingerprint scanner is part of the back cover, is it not?

The sides of the white model are matte black, it feels, looks, and is made of the same stuff as the rest of the phone. The scanner is not a part of the back cover. The unit itself is one of the three colors. I have the white and black ones; the black is prone to being "worn down" by finger oils that do not show on the white one.
Excellent. Thanks.
So is the fingerprint scanner connected to the mainboard in the back by the typical copper contacts type thing?
Basically, if I swapped the back cover on my black N5X, for a white cover, my FP scanner would still be black?

If you swap the black back cover for white, you will basically get a quartz color N5X. But fingerprint scanner will stay black. I think that it will look cool. You can also swap the fingerprint scanner, depending on the cost of a replacement part. Its a module attached to the mainboard sitting on the midframe, its quite easy to replace after poping up the back plate.
https://youtu.be/lhAFtP0F2Uk
Look at arround 4:50 and you'll see how is the scanner attached. It looks like you will have to remove the plastic frame cover to detach it, but still not hard to replace.
