[Q] Music pausing in all music apps - HTC One X

Hello all,
My (stock) HTC One X has the following very annoying bug: All music apps randomly pause audio (at any time, screen on/off).
I've tried with Winamp, the stock music app, the plain google music app and Deezer. It happens least frequently with Deezer and most frequently with the stock music app. (Drawback with Deezer is that it doesn't allow you to play music stored on the phone).
Does anyone have a fix for issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm posting a new thread since the existing topics about audio playback seem to centre around distortion or ticking sounds. I don't have any of that, perfect audio until it is randomly paused. Moreover, once it is paused it can't be "unpaused" from the lock-screen for some reason (so this becomes more annoying when driving/jogging/walking).
Rooting and installing a custom rom could be a solution, i just wanted to explore other options first.
Thanks for any help!

Does your headset have button(s)? Maybe you press them without noticing.

You are not alone, I've been having this problem as well. I've tried, winamp, stock, google play and it happens with them all. I just have plain headphone's plugged in.
I can only assume it's another app that conflicting somehow.
I have however enabled the player on my lock screen, so I can re-start from there, but agree it's painful when hands free is required.

[Q] Music stops when app switching.

I've asked this question before but there were no replies.... I hope this time I'll get some pointers and re-phrase my question better.
I'm using the GSM Galaxy Nexus 4.1.1
Sometimes my music stops playing when switching apps or pressing the home button to return to the home screen, it doesn't happen all the time, but very troublesome when it does. It happens usually just right after unlocking the phone from sleep. I'm using the stock music player
I've noticed that this issued happened to Android phones as well, I tried to update the stock music app, and switched kernels. I don't know what else I can do. I don't recall encountering this problem back in 4.0.4.
Any help would be appreciated

Give us a bit more info:
1. What music app are you using? If it's an app that can both play local media files and stream, which are you doing?
2. Are you playing your music through headphones, the internal speaker, or Bluetooth?
3. If headphones, have you tried other headphones? If Bluetooth, how far away are the devices?
4. Which ROM and Kernel are you using?

I said I'm using the stock music player, Play Music.
I'm playing music through headphones.
I am sure that this problem is not because of the headphones
I'm using the stock 4.1.1 ROM JRO03C. This problem happend on both the stock kernel and Franco Milestone 5
Are you running any other memory hungry apps? Sounds like your music player is getting killed because the memory is needed for something else.
I've had this happen in two instances, so hopefully my personal experience will help you.
The first time, it ended up being a faulty cord in my Nokia Purity HD headphones, I bought a new cord and that fixed my issues.
The second time it was because I was attempting to play music, that I had downloaded in Spotify, but since I was in a crappy coverage area, it would pause the music every time I lost a data connection, even though the music was stored locally. Switching Spotify to offline mode fixed it, so you might try switching to offline only mode in Play Music.
Even if you don't think it's your headphones (for example, you tried them on a PC and they worked), you have to remember that phones have many more contacts inside the headphone jack, used for the media controls in headsets (headphones with buttons and mics), so if there is a short in your headphones that makes the phone think you're pressing the "Play/Pause" button, it wouldn't show in your PC, because most if not all PCs lack this functionality.

[Q] Headset button/plug events firing randomly

I'm having issues on my One X with headset events firing randomly, causing music to start playing at random times even when the headset is not plugged in. I'm using the CM10 nightlies, but I have been unable to find any controls for headset functions except in PowerAmp, so I installed Headset Droid which wasnt very helpful in diagnosing or blocking the events.
The music issue occurs with Apollo and with PowerAmp. The only solution I've found is to use PowerAmp and completely disable responding to headset events at all, but then i cant skip tracks, answer calls or use google now.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any solution? Is it a known issue with the One X?
I used power amp on my HTC dhd and it messed with the volume controls after I uninstalled it and used the stock music app I had to install it again and change the headset button actions to default. You shouldn't use poweramp I just haven't had a good experience.

[Q] Google music fighting poweramp

Hi,
First things first. I'm running JB touchwiz and rooted.
here's my system info if you need it. http://imgur.com/YQ2rILN.png
So, here's my problem. I am using two different players (technically 3 if you count pandora which I don't use very much) - PowerAmp (paid) and Google Play Music. The reason I have 2 players is because I have way more music than I can store on my phone which is where google play is nice, but I also like listening to FLAC files -google play only plays up to 320 - I also like having music on the device in case I lose 4g signal, and I like poweramp's interface much better. Because I'm using two players, they often compete for which one plays. I use my phone to stream music to my car stereo and alarm clock via bluetooth, and when I connect it to either device OR to my headphones via wired connection, poweramp overrides google play and starts playing whatever I listened to last, even if I killed the program previously or was listening to google music last. Basically, when I connect anything, it defaults to poweramp and not Google play regardless of which I was listening to. I want this the other way around, since I use google play much more often since I have so much more music on it. It's endlessly frustrating.
Now for the question - Is there a way to reverse this, so that when I connect my headphones or stereo it will default to playing from google music and not poweramp? Or, even better, is there a way to integrate google music's streaming ability in to poweramp somehow?
Oh, one last thing. I am wondering if there is a way to make PowerAmp and Google Music show on the touchwiz lock screen, with controls? Currently neither do, even though I have the option enabled in PowerAmp.
Thanks!
I haven't used TouchWiz in a long time, but I know with AOSP, there is an option regarding what the phone does when a headset is connected. It's at System settings > Sound > Launch music app for AOSP users.
Seems like you could fix it there. Before this option became available, I was using Tasker to accomplish the same thing.

There doesn't seem to be any such option in that area. I did just think of something, Is there a way to replace the lock screen that doesn't suck? i like stock aosp lock screen better than touchwiz, I just like touchwiz for the guestures and shortcuts and such.
Use tasker
In power amp there is a setting to turn off the auto play when connected.

I can't help with your priority question, but I can tell you that with TW, you lose lockscreen music control ability. I know it's dumb, but it is what it is.

Hey that sounds like a very good idea. I just need to learn to use Tasker. Please feel free to elaborate.
I'm having this same problem. I have a Verizon S3, and have a tasker profile set up so that when I connect my phone to a power source it will automatically turn on bluetooth, connect to my car, launch google play, and start playing the last played song.
The problem is it launches Play Music, but starts playing Poweramp. Play music is what's on my screen, but when I swipe the notifications down PowerAmp is playing the music. I've checked everything and it should be set up correctly, but this still happens.
Any Ideas?

Have you checked the headset settings in poweramp to make sure no auto resumes are selected?

Yeah, Checked and removed the selections for that. And nothing in the Tasker profile is connected to Poweramp, yet it continually plays music from it...

[Q] Please Help me guys!!

Hi!, I had a serious nerve racking problem with Samsung Galaxy W since I flashed it with another official stock ROM in which I got much more languages including the french one. But the problem is that when the earphone is plugged in to listen to my music, it starts switching the soundtrack I am playing to another one that I wasn't playing, it even stops playing :'( . And it's the same **** everytime I want to play my music from the default music player or the one installed like Poweramp. So please help me to fix this!. Even when I wanna listen to my FM radio it shuts down by itself and I could hear some weird beeps from my earphone. The Autostarts apps won't solve at all my problem! :'(

I am not sure about the default music player, but poweramp has a feature like the one you described. When you plug in the headphone, it resumes playing. (An autostart musicplayer feature). Check the settings under poweramp player and hopefully you will see that option somewhere. I am not using poweramp so I can't tell you where exactly that option would be.
The other issues you desribe, I don't know. It may have something to do with the conflict between poweramp and FM radio... Maybe. I am not sure. See what happens when you disable the option I described above.
The stock rom don't have a FM radio app, so use Spirit FM, search the apk and download it.
And this problem happens with me too, but only sometimes. When I'm using a Bluetooth headset, no problems, but when I use a normal earphone, some lags occur.

Okay thanks for your help but now the problem is solved after disabling the "media button pressed" event's from the pre installed music player and many other apps running on your Android's system. It requires root access to be allowed "Autostarts.apk". Anybody else having the issue could use this app to fix it!

A2DP Bluetooth Issues

I have a Bluetooth headset that supports A2DP and Phone audio (Sena SMH10R). Phone/Call audio works and always works. A2DP audio works with music and other 'continuous' streams. The problem happens when I use Google Nav or other software like this that push audio over A2DP every now and then. When I pair the headset to the phone and start Google Nav, it will work for the first few turns, then it will stop working. I am unable to get this working again unless I: reboot the phone, toggle the "Media Audio" option in Bluetooth, or toggle Bluetooth on and off.
During the state of A2DP being broken (before I fix it with one of the three methods above) phone/call audio to the headset still works. However during this time, no A2DP audio works (music, navigation, notifications).
The only workaround to have navigation is to play music in the background, then launch Google Nav. Google Nav will interrupt the music every time it needs to provide me with directions, however this is less than ideal as I don't always want to listen to music.
I originally thought this might be a TTS issue, so I tried different TTS software (Ivona for example) however this did not fix the issue. Using a different Navigation software like Waze also did not fix the issue.
I have 2 HTC one M8's and I have tested both with stock unmodified (Sense 6) as well as the fully converted GPE. I have also tested this with two of the same headsets. Headsets have latest firmware, but I tested with previous versions as well.
Any ideas what I can do to get this working correctly without having to stream music?
Thanks guys!

That would work but I was hoping for more of a fix rather than a workaround.

I was browsing and found someone had a similar problem as you. Try "a2dp volume" on play store. After reading description it sounds like it might work for you.
