[Q] Going to sell this phone. How much should I charge? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I'm getting my new phone in the mail tomorrow and going to sell this one on eBay since I'm sure I can get more than I would using Verizon's trade in. The screen has no scratches or cracks, and the outside plastic case just has a few minor scuffs. I see people selling cracked phones on eBay for $100+ so I'm wondering if its realistic for me to get someone to actually want to buy this device for around the same amount.
Also, anything special I should do before selling it? I'll take out SIM card of course, but should I leave it rooted so others don't have to or just return to stock?

I'll take the xda friends discount and take it off your hands for $30
But really, I would leave it rooted, but put a stock rom with a fresh wipe on it if it were me. Just make sure you clarify that on the listing. As far as price...That's really anyone's guess, but averaging some ebay prices for similar condition should get you close or tack on 20-25 more than the damaged ones.

I have a pretty good condition one with a bunch of accessories I'm trying to get rid of. Thinking of calling Verizon and getting it unlocked to sell for more as a true global phone.

Smashed my phone :(, need some urgent advice

I'll spare the unimportant details, but basically my phone fell face down flat on thepavement and the screen shattered and the touchscreen is unresponsive. I think only the screen is in need of repair but I'm not an expert...
I have an upgradable line on my family plan, do you guys think the cost of repair is gonna be at or near the $150 to replace it outright? Any guesses what repair will cost? Also if I chose to sell it as junk, what might I get for it.
Secondly, how do I get my sensitive data off the internal memory?
Third, what insurance do you guys recommend I get protect myself from this happeng again? Best buy?
ah so frustrating, thank you in advance.

I'm not sure what they would charge for repair, but maybe about $200? If you junk it and sell it on Ebay, it'll probably go for around $200, maybe more. Here's one on ebay thats similar and already at $222 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...1084813184?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item3cc9de1780
I have Best Buy's insurance, and since it has no deductible, is probably the best in my opinion. The ease of mine that comes along with it. The only down side, is that it doesn't cover loss or theft.
I'm pretty sure you can use ADB to access your internal SD, but don't know the commands.
Is there a wayto wipe the contents of my phone from my computer so I can sell?

If your computer is recognizing it, you can try using the toolkit to restore to factory default.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746665
stick it on ebay for $99 for 5 days ---> profit
as for insurance, get yourself a squaretrade plan, and ask someone for a 30% off coupon. current customers get a unique code every Tuesday
Goto google play on your computer browser. Install an app called android lost. Then go to the android lost website and you can wipe the contents of your phone or even copy them off. The only problem is sometimes the app requires you to click okay on the app on the phone. This as is a beta version app and is a little buggy but it's free to try.

I just checked my site where I buy parts from seeing as I have a wholesale account cause I used to own a phone repair businesses and the PART is 260.00. Fused amoled and glass. I am also a employee of best buy. Our geek squad is great. 10.00 a month or 170.00 for two years. No deductible and we give a loaner. I'd suggest it. Good luck getting your new phone.

Thank you all for your help today, I am most grateful. I'm just going to junk the phone and sell it for what I can on ebay and buy a new one with my uncle's upgrade.
When i bought the phone last month, i was able to price match at best buy for $150 using a radioshack ad. Does anyone know of a current brick and mortar ad i can use to get it for $150 again?
and again, thank you all so much!
Fry's Electronics has em for $169.99

Best buy priced matched Me with just a verbal "radio Shack has it for 149"
And in fact I still think they still do.. Call radio Shack and If they still have the deal just go to bb and tell them to call and verify if they want.

When you get your new phone, I might suggest an otterbox defender. A touch on the bulky side but for $50, this won't happen again (shouldn't anyway).

Totally agree with that...Dropped off a ladder on to a concrete patio the other day at work. At least an 8 ft drop screen down not a scratch on the device.
On a side note... there sure seems to be a lot of Bby employees on here...thought I was one of a handful but there is a lot more .

Dropped my Note2

Tmobile locations around me have not received any cases or screen protectors and because they've switched to micro-sim I didn't have a choice when purchasing this phone but to activate it. Today I had my note 2 in my jacket pocket safe close to my chest. I get out of my car and the way I leaned it fell out of my pocket and hit the pavement. Lucky no scratches on the screen but the sides of it are jacked. You think TMO will take pity on me and let me switch it out seeing that I would have purchase case to protect my phone?
I don't think so, you can always buy a case online.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
I know it's a bit late now but...go to a Sprint store. They seem to have the cases. I read it on another thread and confirmed it myself today.
The Sprint store i went to had sold out of the clip on case but had the flip case in the grey and the white. I didn't try any other stores because the flip case was what i wanted in the first place so i was happy!

Sorry to hear that. I know the feeling. I actually took apart my note ii - not bad at all! The only tricky part was getting a hand on how to separate the bezel from the glass - a plastic knife and slight pressure was all that was needed. There is a youtube video on the dis-assembly of a note ii - check it out.
Having said that, I am seeing many places on the web selling the housing for cheap. So when you have the time (or a friend if you don't like doing these things), go replace the housing.
Regards,
Don
No
I know this doest help but i completely agree with the OP being angry cause Tmo didnt have accessories for it. Im in the same boat and im holding it around like if it were an infant child. Ive dropped it twice but very closed to a tile floor. Its very slippery sans case. And buying a case at the Sprint store, thats a very good idea!
ouch!!!
I had the exact same thing happen to me with my gs3 (sold and purchased note 2) i was lucky enough that my phone had a defective bluetooth hardware so i was able to return and got a brand new one!!! The only difference is that i purchased on tmobile.com so nobody physically inspected the phone before i received my new handset. I guess you could try and tell them that you have a malfunctioning device? It would be hard since they will more than likely relate the malfunction to the fall. But it wouldnt hurt to try???
Good luck to you!
P.s. and no, i did not get charged by tmobile for the damage to the returned phone.
u can find exact same case that tmobile offers on ebay for a great price
amazon has a few cases that are cheap and Prime eligible.
http://www.amazon.com/AirBus-Clear-...8&qid=1351485624&sr=8-2&keywords=airbus+n7100
i have the blue one of these. it's undeniably cheap. but it gets the job done for now. and would have prevented your heartache OP.
best choice for you is to get insurance on the thing and make a claim in a few weeks.
I am a pretty die hard phone guy and almost EVERY phone I have purchased I made sure I had a case and screen protector handy because most of my purchases I have had time to decide what I wanted and I got prepared for that special "DAY" when the phone releases on your carrier or it comes in the mail ... That being said, It is not very common for T-mobile to stock ANY "good" cases cause they just kinda suck when it comes to accessories but it's not their fault that they didn't have accessories on a phone that they made available to the public faster than any other US carrier... Now that is a first! LOL If you need one now than Sprint stores are probably your best bet or maybe Best Buy... Be prepared to dive deep in the wallet though... I really do feel your pain though and hope you can get it fixed without too much cost. Good luck! :fingers-crossed:

Nope, not at all, that's an extra charge of $7 a month, plus, with all these insurances, there's a deductible, so even if the OP had it, he'd have to pay out of pocket because the damage is most likely less than the deductible (or just a tad bit over that it's not worth paying the $100+ deductible).
In any case, if it's simply the battery door that's scratch, go buy a replacement one, if it's the silver rim around the phone, there's no replacing that. I myself got the nillkin case before i bought the phone (got here Saturday and bought the phone Friday):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140855149689&ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:US:3160
it's a pretty nice case for $9 and adds some texture to the phone. I usually hate cases for my phones, but this one is pretty nice. (And screw samsung for using cheap plasticky materials on their $700+ phones... that's why i usually dont buy samsung... but the Note II's one of a kind i grudgingly had to succumb... but still pissed at them for the material choice).
thanks for all the suggestions...
I'm gonna call the store that I bought it from today and see ..... all they can say is no. Ill ask about them about insurance claims, I've never made a claim before so I don't know the process.
I do have the fact that I've called that store every single day since I bought the phone looking for case and screen protector. From the way it sounds Sprint seems to be the best alternative on getting a protector ASAP.
Once I put a case on it I won't be able to see any of the damange at all...
There's usually a return policy within 14-30 days. Depending on how you bought the phone you could tell them it came like that. Good luck!
Get an insurance with t mobile, think you can get it within 30 days of purchase, and then file a claim. Will have to pay a deductible of course.

deal to good to be true?

ok so heres my question. i currently have tmobile and have found a note (tmobile version) 2 on craigslist for sale. hes selling it at an insane price! however, im concerned about getting burned. whats to say he sells the phone to me and then tells tmobile its lost or stolen? will the phone not work for me? maybe im to cautious but even at a great deal im still spending around $500. however if it were an unlocked phone from another carrier it would be ok?
ive been hearing horror stories about this so im just looking to cover my bases. its still a lot of cash.

I would be EXTREMELY careful buying off CL expecially at low prices. I've been hearing and reading about people getting screwed. One guy had his phone for 3 months before it got locked down. Just have to use your best judgement.

I owned the Nexus 4 and returned it for the N2. Screen was kind of washed out, battery life was not great. The glass back always worried me. Non replaceable battery as over time batteries go bad. Very fast, smooth, 4.2 is nice. No Facebook sync. Photosphere is neat but a huge battery killer. Great price from play store. But, thats if you can get one.
N2 is ... worth every penny.

Get it in writing. Make a "bill of sale" with the IMEI and signatures, yours, the sellers, and possibly if you go to a T-Mobile store ask if one of the workers can sign it also and get a pic or video holding the "bill of sale"? I know it might seem kinda weird but, you can never be too careful, these phones are pretty new and pretty expensive still, that is a lot of money to risk...
Are you by any chance on TMo classic plan? I have 3 lines on my plan and the closest one eligible for an upgrade is still 11 months away. I sold my S3 and ready and willing to add some money to buy Note 2 full price, either from TMo or ebay. But i took a chance and call TMo for an early upgrade, and they give it to me for the same price as upgrade. Of course with my luck, the day after I ordered, Cyber monday deal cut the price significantly, and they wont adjust the price for me but still i got it cheaper than my S3 sold price :victory:

That will do no good if he calls it in as stolen or had the value plan and quits paying on it. If he paid full price for the phone, that's the only somewhat safest way it would not get locked (unless called in as stolen)
I just don't want to see someone else get scammed. May be legit but you can never be 100% sure off CL unfortunately.

it wil make a difference in terms of getting your money back...if he does call it in as stolen you have proof of sale so its obviously NOT stolen...and if he stops making payments you can get a refund..you would have to hand over your phone but at least you get your money back
i would just make sure that the document you create states that he phone is either completely paid for or that it states that the seller will continue to make payments until it is paid off in full
someone else posted the same question and i also gave him the same advice...as an experienced phone seller/buyer of ebay and CL i would say that the extra $50-100 that you save isnt worth the headache and paranoia that comes with the savings
if you are going to the tmobile store you could probably even ask the clerk to give you the info on how the phone was purchased and if it was paid off...maybe even ask him how long the account has been active and if the guy has a good track record (the seller will be standing there so its not like you are asking for confidential info without his knowledge)
in my opinion...the only way i would buy a phone that is cheaper than the average asking price is if the seller really did convince me that it was legit (has a legit reason for selling the phone where the price that he sells it for isnt his main focus - ie. he received it as a gift and making $500 on a quick sale is enough for him he doesnt care to squeeze the extra $50 and/or if the seller had a receipt for the phone)..if i have an uneasy feeling i would just pass.always go with your gut

If I were you, I would go to TMO and see what they can do for you about getting the phone directly from them. I was in the same situation as you were about a week ago....wanting the Note II so badly, but had already used my upgrade a couple of months ago for the HTC One S. I basically walked into my closest TMO store and asked the rep what they could do to get me the Note without having to pay full price.
In the end, they were able to get it for me for $200...after rebate, but I had to pay $150 migration fee (Originally $300). I then sold my HTC One S on eBay for $300. So how you look at it, I only paid $50 for the Note II!
Trust me, go into TMO and talk to them....that is one thing I like about them over the other carriers is their customer service is better, not awesome, but better than ATT & Verizon.

Usually if you haveto ask this question its a bad idea.
its just the cheapskate in you trying to justify the purchase
here are your options
1) buy the craigslist note 2, worry about everything under the sun (is it stolen, does it WORK, are they gonna shut it down etc.) and take a chance of getting ripped one way or the other
2) dont be a cheapskate, save another 189$ dont have to worry about anything, ANYTHING!
i appreciate ALL of the feedback! at the end of the day the phone would have costed $450 plus 3.5 hours of driving round trip and probably $30 in gas. so for a total of $480 i just think ill save the few extra bucks and buy it from the store. i really do appreciate it.
just need to decide on a phone. n4, n2, s3, or the sony lt28h.
gotta admit $450 is a hell of a deal though lol.

NOTE 2 for sure...you're in the note 2 forum so that will be the dominant answer.
but seriously the note 2 has been the best phone i have ever owned or used...and i am a phone fanatic...once you use it for a week you can't go back to smaller ones...whenever i see other phones now they look like toys...i remember a few weeks ago (before i bought the note 2 and had my nexus) i thought my sisters S3 was huge...now when i hold that phone in my hands it looks really small and dull
i definitely wouldnt put the s3 in this class of phones (unless its the international one)...i would only go with the n4 is your MAIN focus is on development and/or this phone is too large for your liking

[Q] Dropped Galaxy Nexus, now what?

Well the title says it all
I just dropped my phone and the bottom glass piece is shattered yet operable. My only issue at the moment is some cosmetic damage. As great as this might sound, it has put me in a dilemma.
Should I get a Asurion replacement for $100 bucks
Should I wait and pay full retail for a phone (I need to do this now in order to keep my Unlimited Data with VZW )
I personally love my Nexus, and the fact there is no BS with its bootloader and I can flash anything I want just makes it all the better. It is a safe bet to say the only way I would ever upgrade would be to another Nexus or another flagship phone.
Any feedback here? Or is anyone experienced with the replacement of a screen that could possibly give me an estimate to replace the entire screen+digitizer? (apparently the screen and digitizer are fused together so I am expecting the screen alone to cost somewhere in the 75-125 range.)
Thanks all,
Happy New Year!
Sorry to hear that
I would probably pay $100 and get the replacement, since the actual screen assembly costs $110-140 on ebay, you probably wouldn't find it any cheaper than $100 unless you buy it from someone.
If my screen broke I would instantly whip out $100 to get another.
If you've been paying for assurion, and now you finally need it, I'm not sure why you would need to ask what to do.
If you really want to keep the unlimited data I just got a perfect condition GN for $200 off my local craigslist. They can be had for as little as $150. No need to pay full price from Verizon.
Also paid $150 recently for a GN off of Craigs List. It's great.

[Q] Help: Options for a cracked phone and carriers

So i managed to drop and crack the lcd on my note 2 and the display wont show now. so after arguing with asurion on them not giving me a replacement even though i had insurance and was willing to pay the 200 dollar deductible. Now i want personal opinions on what i should do. Im most likely going to cancel with them seeing it will save me money in the long run since i am paying around 90 monthly. Now is it fairly easy to do a screen replacement myself on this device? if so can someone be kind enough to give me links to the part and a tut maybe or if theres an online solution. Then i was considering maybe flashing it and using H2o i heard its a decent company. does anyone know of any cheap solutions to a monthly payment?
any information will be helpful and personal thoughts on what i can/should do in my current situation.

Then i was considering maybe flashing it and using H2o i heard its a decent company. does anyone know of any cheap solutions to a monthly payment?
any information will be helpful and personal thoughts on what i can/should do in my current situation.
thanks again

First of all I don't understand why asurion wouldn't cover it, unless you've already had 2 claims this year. But if that's the case, you might be better off buying a second hand device and selling yours for parts. If the LCD itself is broken, the minimum to replace is going to be $300+, and if you're not experienced at hardware repairs, this might be a tough one. As far as what carrier to go to, it depends a lot on your location. In cities, H2O is solid, and cheap, but straight talk is supposed to be pretty good (or better, at least where I live). Anyway, below is a link to one of the many youtube videos on this subject.. Good luck.

something about i didnt use my phone after the claim? idk i asked them to explain it but they gave me the same thing.
but yes the lcd is broken i mean i receive messages and stuff cause i feel it vibrate and all.
I mean i am experienced i replaced several screens on other devices.
well i live in california and my only question at this moment is, if i replace my screen can they flash it so it can work with them?
For the price of the phone and the screen replacement I personally would have asked more about this "something". If you have insurance and are willing to pay the $200 there shouldn't be a reason why a replacement is not issued. Is there more to your story? Well as it has been stated already in the other post the replacement screen is around $300.
