(Request) ICS Blue Status Bar Icons for MSG&Chubbs 4.0 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Does anyone have ICS blue status bar icons for MSG&Chubbs 4.0? Other than that been loving the rom!

I believe you can find the icons you want in systemui.apk. find a Rom or theme that has what you want and use 7zip to copy the pictures over.

Go to the morphology thread and follow the steps to flash their theming options

Morphology is a no go on this ROM will break their systemui.

I was wondering if you could provide a little more detail? Would I just extract the APK and then replace the icons and then compress it again?
Thanks for the help.

If you do a search in the msg&chubbs 4.0 thread for morphology you will find that it does work. you have to flash the morphology stock system ui before the morphology zip or your system ui will crash but if you follow the steps you will be fine

Do a backup before you try anything

Well not quite...if you do that, it will break the UI because the 23 toggles mod will be gone.
I tried morphology by itself, tried to change only the status bar icons. Worked OK, for some reason the signal bars were the only thing that couldn't change.

You might have missed a step or done the incorrect order
You will lose the 23 toggle mod but gain a lot of personal customizability. plus this is a lot easier than going into system ui apk or framework res apk

I'm on the Rom you are asking about. I followed the instructions and everything is working fine. Had to run morphology twice and had to change everything on the status bar, not just leave it alone.
Edit I did some research and the devs over in the Rom thread say definitely don't use morphology with this Rom. It breaks some of the mods. I have restored my nandriod and back to grey icons. Small price to pay for a great Rom.

I tried replacing the status bar icons in systemui.apk with blue ones and then put it back and rebooted but I still had the grey icons. Not sure what I am missing.
Thoughts?

Which mods does morphology break?

I am not 100% sure but I think it will break all the 3minit stuff which is baked into the systemui and framework. Key word is "i think".

Upload your SystemUI.apk here and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks a lot man, I started by trying to change just the 4G icon, but when I put it back it was still grey. I am not sure what exactly happened. I had to zip it to get it under the 8MB limit for uploads.

Morphology is compatible with MSG & Chubbs only if u flash it correctly as outlined above. U still get to have all the toggles & more importantly u can customize them along with the status bar icons & the settings icons. Yes the 3minit options will no longer work, but since u can customize the clock items in morphology u dont lose anything. I've attached some screenshots to show

Try this one (non flashable, push to System/App.)

Alrite just a couple questions about theming and customization.
I would like to apply your red sense theme.
-Do I have to use a rom or can I just apply it on my rooted phone?
-If I have to use a rom which do you suggest so I can still use the original internet app that came with the phone?
Thx for all your help!
Sent you a PM about this actually.
Whats the trick to enable transparency? Particularly the notification pull-down. I have already modified framework-res.apk to include the transparent images, however they are not displaying transparent when applied to the phone. I read a few things about hexing, and even found a 'transparency patcher' program from droid-forums. This patcher apparently, does the hex work for you on services.jar. However, it did not do the trick. What am I missing here?
I'm running my own fully deodexed custom rom based on the 2.2 sense leak.
I'm working on Transparency as well...I contacted Xeudoxus at droidforums...hopefully he can help.
I would just like to know how to manually change my icons and or folders on my home screen and in my app drawer. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I too would like to find out how to change the "Folders" icon from the plain manila to obviously something else.

All root themes will usually only work for the rom they are made for. Sometimes there are big changes to the firmware, sometimes little... a good rule of thumb is to always make a nandroid backup if your an early adopter. So long story short:
1. yes
2. whatever rom i made the theme for... you can only use the original browser app with sense

Changing folder icons/app icons: you're gonna have to theme the rom you're using
basic ingredients in no particular order:
1. update.zip- just download one of themes and the update script in there (META-INF) or make your own if you feel like learning the syntax
2. resigning tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3175518&postcount=2
3. 7zip for extracting apks
4. Android SDK
5. Lots of time
Start extracting apks and viewing the contents of res/drawable-hdpi---where you'll find icons
Most icons are named ic_launcher_XXXX.png, some are named app_icon, others are just simply icon... you'll have to look around to find them as there is no easy way to change them. Once you find the icon you want to replace, drop your new icon (with exactly the same name) into the same directory (preferably using 7zip since you don't have to have the directory extracted to replace it) and resign the entire zip file... flash zip and win!
So how much time do you think I would need if I was to do this? Just kidding looks like a pain in the ass. However, doable. Thanks for the link to signing the zip. Thought it just might be a bit easier. Hopefully soon I can change the plain folders to a picture of my girlfriend or something.

Signal Bars
I have seemed to try everything to change the signal bar(s) colors. I have changed all of the icons to a red theme and the only way I can think thats left is that it has to be hex coded. Important fact is I am running skyraider 2.0.1. Has anyone had any luck changing these?

[HOW TO] Status Bar Transparency For CM7.2

First of all, credits should go to nims11 for this. I pm him and asking how to do that, it worked so I thought to write an extensive tutorial about this. Of course I am not held responsible if something goes wrong, read carefully instructions though it's quite simple, don't mind long explanation, is meant for new users too.
STATUS BAR TRANSPARENCY - WHAT YOU NEED!!!
1. This was tested on CM7.2 on both deodexed and odexed version. Also will work on ICS2. Probably will work on CM7.1 too but haven't tried this. Don't ask me if this will work on other modded versions of CM7.2, I don't know, and I am not willing to try.
2. You need a theme that supports transparency in status bar like Meizu, LunarUI, MIUI, Naked Simplicity, Orion and much more. Theme list can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167075
3. You need ADW Launcher along with theme to make this work. Remember to uncheck wallpaper hack in system preferences.
4. You need Root Explorer or similar app to be able to do have root access.
5. Before proceed with the method, backup SystemUI.apk from system/app (deodexed version) or both SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex (odexed version). A simple copy/paste to your sd card will also do the job.
PROCEDURE FOR HAVING TRANSPARENCY IN STATUS BAR
DEODEXED VERSION
1. Download this file http://www.uploadking.com/V7YWUIJ3UO and transfer to your SD Card (any directory)
2. Use Root Explorer and COPY file
3. Go to system/app --> Press the Mount R/W button on top of screen --> Now Paste. A message pops up to confirm that you want to overwrite file. Press Yes.
4. You will then get a message that systemui stopped responding. DON'T WORRY. Hold power button till phone reboots
5. When it reboots you won't have status bar. DON'T WORRY, IT'S MEANT TO BE LIKE THIS.
6. Use again Root Explorer, go to system/app, press again the Mount R/W button --> then find file SystemUI.apk --> Long press it till a menu pops up --> Click Permissions, it should be as this http://imageshack.us/f/843/screenshot1323167924787.png/ So permissions under file should be as rw-r-r
7. Reboot phone --> YOU'RE DONE.
ODEXED VERSION
The procedure is exactly the same as deodexed version BUT BEFORE DOING THIS YOU NEED TO DELETE SystemUI.odex from system/app using Root Explorer and having pressed the Mount R/W button in order to do so.
So when you're done and lets say you are using MIUI Theme it should look like this http://imageshack.us/f/856/screenshot1323169878975.png/. Different theme will have different icons or different transparency level, transparency is really theme dependant!
DON'T PANIC
1. If it doesn't work then probably you did something wrong
2. Remember that you have backed up original files so you're safe
ALTERNATIVE METHOD VIA CWM (as nims11 suggested) - ODEXED VERSION ONLY!!!

Also, a tip as a small contribution for people who don't like adw launcher like me. If you want to have a transparent status bar while using a different launcher then you need to download multi picture live wallpaper from the market. Set your prefered wallpaper through multi picture live wallpaper and the status bar is transparent no matter what launcher you're using
yes it work... also nims maybe you can give us your transparency bar with center clock system UI too... it would be awesome... thx

just want to help. here I made flashable. but before you flash you must delete SystemUI.odex using root explorer > system > app choose SystemUI.odex and delete make sure you has mount rw first, if you get FC for SystemUI don't panic, reboot to recovery and then flash it via recovery. don't forget to mount /system first...

System Color Theme

I have installed Blu Kuban ROM and loving it. However I liked the default color them of stock FF18 or even the GS3. How would I go about getting the original color scheme back to my system settings and ONLY system settings? I'm pretty familiar with system/app and the framework folders... I just dont know what goes where...
Thanks.
It would almost be easier to flash stock FF18 systemui and framework back to the phone than to retheme it and work up from there for the few things you want to change.

Ok, ya that sounds like an idea.. unless there is something inside those files I can copy from the stock to the custom and replace within Systemui and framework..
I really like all the other customizations he made to his ROM.

You're going to lose quite a bit. He has a lot of mods, including the extended toggles if you go with stock. You will have to experiment. You can copy over all the stock icons over to his systemui and framework files from res/drawable-hdpi as a start. More advanced color modding (changing color codes) would be necessary in the decompiled xml files otherwise.
Edit: Don't replace the battery icons though when you copy over the entire contents of the drawable-hdpi.

He has a ROM pretty close to aosp type....never seen another TW based ROM so updated or having so many easy custom installs. But if u want changes, you either need to theme or go with cm9/aokp to install other themes- and there are quite a few to pick from. Do a nand and see what suits you best.

I've got v1.2 downloaded. The newest is 1.21 but the only thing changed was the headphone notification was removed and the Play Store was updated. So I'll just use the SystemUI from 1.2. I'll get on it right now and I'll let you know when I'm done. Shouldn't take but a few.
Well, I forgot there were to versions of that rom(Full Black and Semi Transparent). I made 2 flashable zips, one for the Full Black version and one for the Semi Trans version cause I wasn't sure which one you were using. The only SystemUI I have is from the Semi-Trans so I edited it to make it like the Full Black version after I made the battery mod for Semi-Trans. If for some reason you want the Full Black version but the one I made isn't Full Black let me know and I'll re-do it. Just download the .zip for which ever version of rom your using, boot into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik cache and flash.

Ok, for anyone that wants this battery icon for the rom there on please tell me the rom name(So I can keep track of the SystemUI's) and please upload the SystemUI.apk. I don't currently have WiFi so I don't want to use all my data up downloading all the different roms. If you don't know where the SystemUI.apk is just open up or unzip your rom, double click on system, double click on app, scroll down and find SystemUI.apk and upload it and I'd be more than happy to do it.

First, grab a systemui with the mod already done(source). You need to learn to decompile an apk. There are links around. Decompile the source ui and the ui you are trying to add the mod to. You need to add three things to your system ui....the battery images (depending on the type of charging animations you may have 106 images or you may have 203 images)...and they will be found in the drawable-xhdpi folder. Next, in the drawable folder, you will need to take the stat_sys_battery and stat_sys_battery_charge xmls and move them to the new ui. Recompile, flash, and enjoy.
Can anyone post the battery mod source? I went to the page but MU is blocked and FL deleted the file, I want to try porting to my current rom.

[MOD] KK 4.4.2 ND8 True 1% Battery Mod

KitKat 4.4.2 ND8 True 1% Battery Mod
Flash in custom recovery. Animated charging included.
I've included the stock systemui should you wish to go back to stock.
The battery icons in the mod were taken from MOAR v9.x. If you want different battery icons, just swap out the 204 png images located in:
vrtheme/system/priv-app/SystemUI.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi
(And if you do, please share your battery mod here )
Cheers - TD
Notes:
- This is based on stock ND8 DEODEXED rom only.
- Added custom pulldown support in V3. You can find custom pulldowns for ND8 posted here in the WickedX Thread.

Yeah, sorry for the delay on this. Turned out to be a simple typo on one of the public values where I typed an 'a' instead of a 'b' in the smali value so it was causing bootloops originally. Helps to have a proper logcat when troubleshooting stuff.

I've found a problem, the battery displayed in the statusbar is tw_stat_sys_battery instead of stat_sys_battery. Charging is displaying right though.

In various threads throughout the whole site... You can use any images from any theme if you want, just need to be sized and named correctly. Google can be your friend

Vr theme just to change the icons, doesn't matter.
This should work on either Odex or Deodex, just have to delete the odex file (if odexed)

That was a problem with the initial release. It should have been fixed with v3 but maybe I need to put the standard yield battery back in so I can see it drop faster.
