[Q] Obtaining ip... - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello!
I've been searching for a long time about this issue but I haven't found aan answer...
I have a rooted GN with original rom and recovery. Yesterday I wiped the phone and now I'm not able to connect to any wifi network.
The phone is always "obtaining ip...". And that's all.
I also have a Nexus S and one computer connected to my wifi and they are working fine.
I also tried to connect to another wifi and the result was the same..
Before yesterday I had no problem, even with the phone rooted.
My android version is 4.2.2.
I tried to reset my router (Netgear), tried all security options (open, wep, wap2, etc).
I have no mac filter... I think I already tried all the "logic" options but I always get the same
I start thinking the problem can be android 4.2but I don't know what is whatt I'm doing wrong.
Thank in advance for any help!
Best regards

Flash a factory build to your device to isolate it as software related.

I had a similar issue with a tplink router, now i have a asus and the issues are gone.

I downgraded to android 4.1 build factory and works. thanks

That's an odd problem.
You already downgraded, so there is no scope for trouble shooting.

[Q] WIFI connects but no internet?

Today I updated my ROM from LeeDroid v2.5 to v3.0.8.2. I wiped my phone first. After this I rebooted, then rebooted again into recovery and installed the recommended radio (32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08). Then I restored my apps+dat with Titanium back up and rebooted again.
It soon became apparent that whilst mobile internet was working fine, WIFI wasn't. While my phone will connect to the router it won't connect to the internet. If I enter the local IP of my router I can browse the settings fine. I tried "forgetting" the network and re-entering security code but this still didn't work.
I restored my v2.5 nandroid backup and the internet worked fine, the radio is still 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08.
So I did a fresh install of the v3.0.8.2 ROM and tried connecting to WIFI again and again the same problem.
So my question is, is this an inherent problem with the ROM, and if so why does no one else seem to have this problem, or is it a setting issue?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Also I tried changing the WIFI channel as suggested in another WIFI thread, and this didn't change anything. Except the WIFI channel obviously.
And I tried a static IP address and that didn't work either.

Yes I tried turning my router off for a couple of minutes then switching it back on. Didn't change anything.

Did you sort it?
I think you need to wait before the router give your router assign an ip for your phone, btw, some router donot fit all phone model
Yes thanks I managed to sort it today by following this thread
Apparently the fault is inherent to Android 2.3.3 and seems to present itself mainly with Thompson routers. It was a static IP I needed, I'd not entered the details properly the first time.
Thanks for the replies!

[Q] Why does my wireless cut out when logging in?

Hi all. I have searched and nothing pertains to my problem.
I upgraded to a new rom (coredroid 7.1), and even going back a rom version my wireless keeps logging in and then disconnects for no apparent reason. It doesn't even pick up the IP address. Show's 'connecting' then 'disconnected' straight after. The one radio i have used has worked flawlessly.
Any ideas on what is going on?

It can be a kernel issue... some kernels are not compatible with certain routers to get info from them to connect. Try flashing a different kernel and see the results.
Ah I tried a new radio and Kernel but it still does the same thing. Rebooted the router and reinstalled my phone rom as well and nothing changes with the problem.
try flashing a rooted stock rom. if still cannot connect, i hope you're still under warranty and send it back to htc
Ah well after flashing a new radio and kernel then reflashing the rom, it decided to work again after I changed the channel on the router....... Confused yet? I was. So thanks for your help it's now working fine.

Router crashing with new Jelly Time rom

Hey guys,
I tried searching and could not find a similar problem.
Since getting the new rom I have noticed that my wireless router has been experiencing connection issues. all my devices show connectivity but i dont have access to the net. Anyways i decided to have a look and the android is creating multiple Ip entries on the router with the same mac address and everytime I turn the wifi off on my phone the problem does not occur.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Have you tried going into development settings and turning of Android Debugging or ADB over network? Just a suggestion, not sure if it will work.

nah cant be that, I had them turned off already.
Thanks for replying anyway. I searched google and its a pretty common problem with no concrete solution, might need to flash the rom again.

Why don't you try binding the MAC Address to a static IP so it's no longer able to create multiple entries on the DHCP Table?
tjturko13 - have you tested to use another standard 802.11 Modus - instead "n"? Just switch it at your phone or router.
What router do you have? Can you update the firmware? ^^

i dont think my router allows this, the only option I have is to specify if I want to allow mac filtering.

its a isp provided cablel router that does not let me mess around with FW but i have checked and it seems to have the latest FW
where do i get the boot.img file from?
Did you get your new rom over the air? (Stock rom)
Or did you flash a custom rom?
You have to give us more software informations about your rom. Is your device s-on or s-off?
Stock rom you need the right RUU exe file. Just doubleclick - yes yes yes
Custom rom you need to download the custom boot.img.

Broken:
bluetooth - works in beta 7. Broken in beta 8 +
Working:
Wifi Tethering
camera - not perfect still buggy
Mic
accelerometer
audio
bluetooth
wifi - may not support some channels
hw acceleration

I'm sorry for you.
- You could even try to change the wifi-channel to 1, 4 or 6 and disable wifi-security in the second attempt for test only.
- Try also to set a static ip in your phone (for your wlan).
- If you are bored you can reset the whole router to its factory defaults and leave all standard. Just enable wlan (and the isp connection) - but dont change the default ssid, wlan-security or channel etc.
Otherwise I have no more ideas.
With google you can find dozens of users crashing their routers with android or ios phones . Good luck dude!

Ive had this problem to since switching to 'randomblame's kernel based ROMS (jellytime CM, jellytime aokp and jellytime by PACMAN - Paranoid, CM and AOKP).
Apparently it is a kernel issue and the only thing you can do is some of the things above or here
I was here hoping there might be a fix... I tried static IP, changing the router channel, WIFI never sleep etc etc etc.
The only workaround I found so far was to turn off wifi when Im done, it only seems to break when the phone is inactive for 5 minutes +.

Exact same problem here. It took some time before I figured out that my phone was overwriting my gateway's MAC address, but I finally saw that message from another machine in my network:
Code:
arp info overwritten for 192.168.1.254 by 91:31:58:5d:e8:34
1.254 being my gateway's IP. I also tried giving my phone a static DHCP entry but it just didn't change anything. Any useful sysctl maybe ?
FWIW, it seems I "fixed" that issue by making my routers MAC address association permanent on my (manageable) switch. That obviously don't fix the real problem, but does not shut down the router's NIC. FYI, on a GNU/Linux machine, this is done with the arp command, i.e.:
Code:
# arp -s 192.168.1.254 00:ca:fe:ba:be:00
192.168.1.254 being your router's IP

Device forgets all saved WiFi passwords when toggling it off and on again

Hello guys!
I have weird problem!
I got broken OP3 A3003 (64gb model) and repaired it. It works perfectly but there is just one annoying fault that i cant seem to find answer to. The WiFi will not reconnect to saved hotspots after i toggle it off and back on again. Everytime i must give the password again and again. after i connect it works perfectly an no hiccups at all. just the reconnecting not working. I can see the saved network in the list but deleting it does not work. I havent yet rooted, im on latest stock and the bootloader is locked. Tried factory reset but same problem occurs.
Searching web and Oneplus forums pointed that there is couple others having same problems but no solution from anyone.
Do anyone have had any of this kind of problem and how did you solve it?
I like Oxygen OS itself but rooting is a must! after i can give logs or stuff if needed!
Update to latest oxygen os or open beta, if updating won't fix your problem then perform a factory reset.
Like I said I tried factory reset but did not help unfortunately I updated to open beta 38 last night but did not help either. 'm gonna try open bootloader and flash the firmware again completely and see.

Wifi problems after flashing custom ROM

Hi all,
I am having problems with my wifi connection after flashing a custom rom. A few months ago I tried to flash lineage OS on the XT1685. This went wrong and the Phone was bricked. Last week I gave it a go once more and was able to flash back a stock rom from Motorola but something weird was going on. I couldn't get a WIFI connection ( no wifi signals in search wifi networks) and MAC-adress was shown as 02:00:00:00:00
I tried a whole bunch of possible solutions but none of them solved the issue. For example I tried to flash the WIFI-Fix, Tried emptying persist/wifi/.macaddr but there was nothing in it. How am I going tho get back my MAC adress! If the original MAC cant't be found is it possible to add another one? Maybe from an other phone or something?
Please help! I am stuck in this situation. Without WIFI the phone is pretty much useless.
Regards Remy
