Path files with Windows Explorer: playlist not working - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys,
I've connected my Galaxy Nexus on Windows, all good, and I'm using Winamp to play files directly from the device.
One question: I have a few playlist and I want to play those but I can't, simple reason. The path inside the .m3u file are this way
/storage/emulated/0/Music/Aerosmith (2008) - The Very Best Of/01. Dude (Looks Like A Lady).mp3
I tried to rewrite in this way
Computer\Galaxy Nexus\Internal storage\Music\Aerosmith (2008) - The Very Best Of\01. Dude (Looks Like A Lady).mp3
but it doesn't work. Probably because it's not a Unit Letter, like Z or whatever.. any idea how to make this thing works? Or it's impossible?
Thanks

mp3 ringtones

this my be a bit off topic I am not sure but could someone tell me where to get the patch to allow mp3 ringtones I have been unable to find it on the web.
Thanks,
Yonu
you don't need a patch - put the mp3 file in windows folder and choose the ringtone you want from the phone setting screen.
I have tryed that however it doesn't allow me to choose it as a ringtone
any sugesstions on what may not be installed?

Probably nothing. Put the files in \windows\rings, that's where mine had to be for the system to use them.
I did notice that if the 'ring' is shorter than the amount of time the phone will ring before passing the call to VM, the sound file doesn't repeat, at least it didn't with one of the mp3's I installed.
tryed that for instance the cingular ring tone is in windows\rings however it isn't even an option i ran a regeditor on it and it says the rings folder ins windows\rings
hey I got it i thought what the hell and flash the Bios ROM up to a newer version and they work now
Thanks again
mainly cause I prefer to simnmply edit the mp3 and copy it ove that way if i want i can use the whole sone and still have the mp3 to listen to if wanted thank you for the suggestion thoughr
And why spend money on a utility that isn't even needed for the BA's, much less at all?
There is a web site that will convert just about any sound format into another format, including the qcp format, for those phone that can't play mp3 files natively.
It also converts other file types (spreadsheets, archives, etc).
URL I leave as an exercise for the reader.
Plus there are ways using free software to do the conversion as well.

[Q] Map networkdrive to access music and movies etc.

Hello all!
First of all, I have to say that the Desire is to me, a wonderful piece of equipment. I really liked unboxing it, setting it up and fiddeling with its functions, however there are a couple of things that quirck me.
I would very much like to be able to map a networkdrive from my home server (Debian Lenny via SAMBA) or from my laptop (Windows 7 professional). I know I can use EStrongs File Explorer or Astro File Manager to access these locations and copy files to the phone, but this is not the approach I would like to use. I would prefer to stream them. Is this possible at the moment, and if so, what software will make this possible. Preferably without rooting the device.
I currently also own a Nokia N900 where I use Wizard Mounter (to mount my SAMBA shares) and KMplayer (a graphical frontend for mplayer) to play my videos. Can this be so hard to replicate on the Android platform?
On a sidenote; Is there any way to adjust the wireless properties to increase power to recieve a better signal from my wifi. This can also be done on my N900 (at the cost of poorer batterfy of course).

That's the other way round, I think he'd like to stream media from his Linux box to his phone.
Handy looking app though

[Q] iphoto stopped playing well with android

previously I used to be able to connect my phone to my MacBook and have iphoto start up and find the photos I took with the evo. however now when I connect the evo, iphoto only sees the photos in an older directory on the phone. it is not displaying the photos which are stored in my dcim/camera directory. is there a way to make it go back to the way it was before so I can easily import my pictures to my computer?
same here.
It may be cause by Android using the DCIM/Camera folder instead of 100xxsomething?
I was working not too long a go, but I have been switching roms a lot.
I think is a Camera.apk is used that saves to the latter folder, it should work.
solution:
http://vowe.net/archives/010622.html
make a symlink to the camera folder
It doesn't work, for iPhoto '11 (9.0.2) at least.
Okay, I did a little googling recently on this, yes the symlink method used to work.
However, now Apple support (google and you will find the link) is saying Android is not following the proper convention of digital camera (and guess if they gonna fix it?)
Reason?
Someone did a test (i didnt test it out myself, i may try it soon), if you have more than DCIM folder in your "drive," iPhoto wont accept that.
Question?
Can someone develop a custom mount similar to "Android's Mass Storage" mount, but instead just mount the DCIM folder only?
I am afraid I am not that knowledgeable in that area (yet) to proceed.
I realize it's not the solution you're looking for, but nothing is easier than dragging and dropping the pictures you've taken with your Evo into iPhoto.
Just my 2 cents.
Drag & drop works fine. However, the automation is the dream here.
We can however go to import menu, problem is, it imports everything and forgot about the previously imported images. It creates duplicates.. Yikes!
Apple and Linux never play nicely

Actually, auto-importing is easier.
Tested Auto-Import Fix. Works for me!
Here's an article I found that tells you how to set up auto-importing. It works for me using iPhoto '09 and Evo with Deck's ROM.
Works Great for me! I didn't write it, but it walks you through how to set it up and provides a pre-made workflow for download.
Hope it helps!

MyTunesExtractor - Free iTunes Playlist Extract and Converter! (Not Spam I made this)

Hey all,
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, but being I have a captivate, I figured I would start here...
I wrote a small little application called MyTunesExtract.
Basically what it will do is read your itunes library file, create a list of all of your playlists and then let you extract those playlists to m3u files and folders to a locating of your choosing.
For example, you configure your Extract point to be E:\Music ( e:\ is the mount point for my phone)
I then select a playlist, and hit export. It will copy over all of the tracks (retaining directory structure) and build an m3u playlist that IS compatible with the Stock Samsung music player. I haven't tried any other players out yet.
Import things to note:
- This is a ROUGH RELEASE somewhere between beta and final.
- The itunes library is treated as READ-ONLY!!
- This app seriously lacks error handling, but should work pretty consistently once it's setup.
- Depending on how many people use it will determine my support plan. I currently and planning a v2 of this app that will be a complete re-write, done right with error handling and multi-output support at runtime, along with multi-playlist formats.
- This app is FREE and COMES WITH NO/ZERO/NONE Warranty.
- Donations are always welcomed and certainly appreciated.
- I will try to help people regardless of donations, but please remember this is a pet project for me and I can only work on this once my son is down to bed.
- I would keep itunes CLOSED when running this, just to prevent any possible hick-ups.
- This DOES work over network drives, my itunes library is on a different machine and I can give my library path as: \\machine\music\itunes\itunes library.xml
Installation!!!
- Very easy, open the MyTunesExtract.exe.config there are two paths there... the first one: defaultiTunesLibrary points to the location of your itunes library XML, I repeat, XML file, not the itl. The other one: defaultSyncFolder points to the output location for creating playlists and folders.
- There is no install process other than that. Just configure it and run the exe.
Notes
- I try to be a bit smart about playlist extracting, it will only copy files if it doesn't already see it in the output directory.
- Because of that the Files to Copy count is only files MISSING in the output folder. If your playlist has 20 songs, and 8 are already there, the Copy Count will be 12...
- I've tested this with the latest version of itunes.
I've attached 3 screenshots that show what it looks like.
Hope you guys get some use out of this!
Thanks and enjoy,
Rich
Excellent idea - the one thing stopping my daughter getting an android is iTunes.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Thanks, it was born out of the same scenario. My wife and I have a large iTunes library with tons of playlists, and I couldn't figure an easy way to get them out...
Tried DoubleTwist, Winamp and a couple others, nothing was simple, complete and fool-proof, (and free!).
Either way, if you use it, let me know! I would love some feedback.
Thanks,
Rich
This is a really nice idea and thanks for the effort in creating this. Is there any way to repackage this app for mac?
Hey, thanks for the feedback. The only mac I have is an Ipad, so I don't think I will be able to help you so much there. It's written in .Net 4, I don't think there is any compatibility layer you can run AFAIK. Maybe Boot camp?
Thanks,
Rich

[Q] A couple of questions about the new Nexus...

Good day people!
Frickin lovin the new Nexus, and after rooting and flashing clockwork and the updated image including the volume fix (I never experienced that btw) I've got it running almost perfect. A couple of minor tweaks would really make this device shine for me.
1) I can't get MTP support to work on my home PC. I've got a "modded" version of Windows XP pro SP3 but WMP11 just doesn't see my device with or without debugging. I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the PC not the phone as when I put it in CTP it works fine. So my question is: Is there a wifi based file transfer app that "supports folder management"? As when I used wifi file transfer I find it a right ballache to organise my music.
2) I used to run the Nexus S with NSCollab which took a lot from Cyanogen, namely the superb notification bar power settings i.e. wifi, 2g/3g, brightness etc. Is there an app out there that does the same thing or does it have to be baked into the ROM? I like the link to the settings on the bar but it'd be great to have more customisation on this.
Many thanks for your input and sorry if this has been covered. I know there's a thread on MTP but as my MTP issue is with my PC and not the phone I didn't feel like it was relevant.

Try using dropbox. It's more cloud based than file transfer but in the end it winds up with the same result (your files available on your pc). Dropbox has a client that installs on your PC so that your cloud storage shows up like any other folder would. Then install dropbox on your phone and upload from the phone and you will see it show up in the folder on your computer.
Good day!
Regarding your first question - a good app that I have used for a while is WiFi File Explorer (there is a Pro and a free version). It is a very good app - quite simple but it does let you organise the folders on you phone from the PC. There is also a free app called AirDroid which is supposed to very extremely immpressive. I have downloaded it but not yet tried it. But it provides a desktop like interface on which you can view your phones contents - supposed to be great.
For your second question - I think you may have to wait for more ROMs to come out before you can get this feature! I'm looking forward to it - suprised it wasn't integrated into ICS as standard tbh.

Hey there,
Downloaded Airdroid and it looks great. Can't test it properly yet as my work desktop isn't on the WiFey. From the looks of the screenshots it has proper folder management options which is exactly what I was looking for. The problem with wifi file explorer for me is that it's heavily HTML-based so no drag and drop functionality... will let you know how it goes. Cheers for that.

I do use dropbox and yeah it's a pretty quick way of getting the files to my phone but then they're all sat in the dropbox directory which isn't ideal. Can't complain for free tho right!
