[Q] Windows recognizing kindle fire? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay I've been reading up on the forums for the past week, trying to unbrick my kindle by that, but anyway I understand all I have to do, I just can't get my computer to recognize my kindle fire!! I'm stuck in TWRP because if I try the normal boot, I get stuck at the yellow kindle fire screen. I understand that once I do get my kindle fire mounted in TWRP, I can flash a ROM to get my OS back on my kindle fire, so any tips on how to get my computer to recognize my kindle fire?
Thank you so much!

So were you never able to recover your kindle from this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38046071 ) state, or is this a new problem?

So which generation of Kindle fire do you have. If it's first gen with 6.3.2 the i would say Install the KFU version 0.9.8. I have been using it now for over two weeks and hasn't failed me yet. I have tried version's 0.9.6 and. 0.9.7 and had the same problem your having

good idea. uninstall previous drivers, DL 9.8 or 9.9, install drivers, and see if your computer can recognize the device.

Bricked and need help!!!!!

Howdy everyone,
I was trying to install a new ROM on my kindle fire using TWRP but I must have goofed and deleted something because I bricked my kindle fire. My Kindle Fire is stuck on the kindle fire logo screen and it stays there without restarting. If I hold the power button the kindle fire will eventually shut down. When I plug in the kindle to my computer, the computer reads it and I can find it on my Device and Printers applet but I cannot open in My Computer. I’m running Windows 7 Home Premium. I've tried using the Kindle Fire Utility and the Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility and nothing works.
If anybody can help me unbrick … please please please help me out. Also, if you can write it out, step-by-step that would help me out since I’m still new to rooting.
Thank you.

how is it that you cannot get back into recovery do a wipe and reflash or restore a backup?
I don't know what's going on with it. I don't know what other info to tell you all but if you guys ask questions I will try to answer it to the best of my abilities. Thanks.

I share the same problem as you, unfortunately.
I've also tried the unbrick utility, however i can not get my windows premium to recognize the device as kindle. Tried to inistall the drivers. No avail on my end for any of the solutions provided.
Tried to figure out how to install drivers as ADB composite, not sure how that is done either.
Still searching out answers, hopefully someone can give us advice and send us in the right direction.
If i find a resolution, i will post here to assist you.

Root help

This is the 2nd Kindle Fire 6.3.1 I've rooted. The first one works like a dream thanks to everyone here at xda, you guys also helped me root and overclock my s3. My friend asked me to do his kindle and I'm having problems I searched through the forums to no avail. I already had the driver installed and checked my device manager on windows 7 and saw that everything was working . I opened up ADB 0.9.6 saw that I was online and rooted it, everything went fine. When I tried to boot into recovery nothing happens well almost. When the kindle fire logo is up it flickers and I think I'm seeing the recovery screen but it's only for a fraction of a second. I can't get the triangle to pop up. I also don't have the SU in my app drawer. I have tried everything I can think of. Any ideas?
Update to 1.4a firefirefire.
Reflash and see if that works.

If tried fff still no change. From what I've read it has something to do with the bootloader. What's even more strange is I grabbed my wife's fire and it rooted fine. I think it's an evil kindle lol

Are you sure that your friend's kindle is 6.3.1 and not 10.whatever?
Did you try the whole KFU process again?
And also, now the bootloader is the blue and white kindle fire logo and not the triangle, right?

KFHD 8.9 Bricked

I was given this by a friend who tried rooting it and flashed a zip file instead of the bin file. Now it will not power on, however I am able to press power and volume button and windows will detect omap4770 in the device manager however it will disappear and then reappear over and over. I've tried to install the omap4770 driver but that doesn't seem to get it to stop disappearing and reappearing. My friend stated the usb short trick should fix it, I did order the factory cable from Amazon to get it into Fastboot mode. Is anyone able to assist me, or has had this problem before?

Its hard bricked, and fastboot cables don't work on 8.9" models, and the USB short trick is only for kindle fire 1's, ironically it basically makes the device show up how yours is already showing up, as a omap device, but unlike how we can use the omap device on the kf1, we can't on the newer models because the initial file we push has to be signed by amazon. If you can exchange it with amazon they might give you a free replacement, but since it was given to you I don't know. If amazon won't replace it there is a method in development for unbricking a hard bricked kf, it was initially meant for kf2, but should work on all kindles, but the person working on it needs a kindle fire 8.9 inch to try to make the fix for it, its kinda like a hardware mod, he's working on making a solderless version, anyways if amazon won't replace it he might be able to fix it and it would also possibly benefit the community in general. What exactly did did you try to do after installing the drivers, also was the device you installed the drivers to initially called something like jem before or after you installed the drivers?

What I did was the following found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106463
Cordless (APK)
Instructions:
Download
Install on your KF2
Open Tweezermod Installer
Press install
What about the device you installed, was it called jem, if so you should be able to get into fastboot by running "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product" with the kindle off and unplugged, then plugging it in after the command prompt says waiting for device. From there you can just reflash it.

Kindle Fire 2nd Gen wont go into fastboot mode even with fastboot cable...Q

Hello. A friend of mine gave me his Kindle fire 2nd Gen thats stuck at the Kindle Fire logo. He rooted it and did fire fire fire and has version 1.4a on it and also TWRP. I can get into TWRP, I can use it as a usb device and send files to it through TWRP but have had no luck in fixing it. I bought a Fastboot cable (factory cable) and it will NOT go into fastboot no matter what I try (Kindle Fire triangle). Im beating my head against the wall on whats wrong with this thing and have read so much my eyes are gunna explode. I have tried every fixit prog out there. ADB commands....it doesnt even see the device. I just want to flash this thing back to stock and from all the reading I have done a fastboot cable is key. But it doesnt work. ANyone have some time to give me some help with this???? I would appreciate it greatly.
PS. I have tried All/Most of the fixit progs out there...KFHD, Kindle unbrick utility, etc
