Two random questions. - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey guys
I tried searching and googling both these and can't find anything.
First I was wondering if there is any way to specify where to download files each time? Like if I download a Rom I can put it in Rom folder, pictures in picture folder, etc.
And second is if there is way to save pictures that I sync from Facebook to the actual Google contact? Because every time I flash my phone the pictures are all gone or replaced by the old ones from the Google contact.
Any help on either of these things would appreciate.
I'm Tasks AOKP if that matters.
Thanks

downloads will generally always go to the download folder. there are a couple good file explorers out there to help you move things around to where you need them to be.
as for the contacts, sorry. i dont sync my contacts with facebook. i added pictures to them a couple years ago and those same pictures show up on them whenever i flash a new rom and restore/sync contacts. i can even see or change the pics when i look at my contacts on gmail (on the pc)

I know you can specify the download location for each download on dolphin browser.

Any other suggestions? Especially for the contact pictures, just refreshed and lost all again.

Try a program called dow load all files or use opera browser as it allows you to change download location like a regular browser.
Contact thing I'm not sure. I sync all mine to google.

Google+ Instant Upload (Creates 2 folders in Gallery on phone) **HELP**

Hi there,
I have turned on instant upload on my phone and sure enough all images are uploaded to google.com\+.
When I go onto the internet on my laptop and look at the "photos from your phone", all my photos are there.
However, if i login to Picasa web album, I see 2 instant upload folders. One titles "instant upload" the other titled "instant upload 2009-01-03 - 2012-01-14".
Sure enough, in my gallery (on my phone) I see the 2 folders...
I had gone onto picasa web albums and moved all images over from the instant upload with date folder to just instant upload (verrified they were all in the right folder) checked on my phone (sure enough all in 1 folder)... but then BAM it re-created the 2nd folder and moved them back.
What's going on here!!!
-RR
I was thinking about the same thing!
I tried to consolidate as well, think there is a number limit so it starts to separate the pictures into new folders by date. Annoying really.
1000 photos limit per folder.

I had this problem before I flashed my phone back to yakju.
I managed to solve this, but I can't for the life of me remember how. Try the Google+ app or through Google+ on your browser
Any info on how this was solved? I recently stared seeing 3 folder for Instant Upload in my gallery and wanted to see how to fix this!

Move the pictures to a different folder. That is the solution. There is a limit to the number of pictures in a single folder.
Scratch that. Will do.
is there any way to make instant upload upload other albums and not just the camera one?

Sync Camera Photos to Google Drive

I want to do something really simple with google drive.
I want to setup a permanent sync so my phone camera pics are synced with the google drive. So whenever i take a pic it just appears in the drive without having to do anything.
I am damned if i can figure out how to do it!
Can it be done?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
This can't be done (yet). But Google is pushing Google+ hard so I think they might keep that feature separate to get more users there as what you want can be done via the Google+ app
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I am not using G+.
Maybe folder sync may appear in the future on GD
I can still manually select images to upload for the time being.

Drop box does it

If you want photos to go to google drive i dont wee what you wouldn't just use google+. It saves unlimited amount of photos to Picasso/google+ and you dont have to use it as a social network. No one is going to talk to you if you dont talk to them. You want get any alerts about anything. Also you can edit photos right from the web. But if your concern is to not be in the cloud but on a local computer, like mentioned above...Dropbox is the best for that.
Camera photo sync
Dropbox is the best way to go.
Just use google+ on your phone. Then it will autokatically upload your photo, everytime you yake a photo it will ulpoad it. Your uploaded photo won't be published unless you do so. Hope this helped you.

I'm trying to do the same thing so my photos on the iphone are automatically sent to google drive. I have google drive synced with my work and home computers. I am envisioning all my iphone photos immediately available on all my computers google drive sync folders. I think I will try the photosync app. It looks like it will be the bridge I'm looking for until the google drive app for iOS is released.
Update: Tried photosync by touchbyte. Works well with google drive but lacks automatic syncing. Autosync has been suggested by many on the touchbyte support bulletin board.
Note: I have jailbroken iOS 4.8. Don't want to move to iOS 5
+1 for Google +, it works great! I have it set to upload when on WiFi and charging. It has never failed me yet.
If you don't want to use G+, then you could use a folder sync app and sync your DCIM folder with Google Drive...
I use this app for the same reason, and other uses:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.tacit.android.foldersync.full
the problem with G+ is that it scales your photo's, which is probably why they are trying to use google drive.
I wanna do the same thing. any new word on this now that google released the sdk? I would assume something exactly like dropbox will turn up soon i hope!
Yes, there are 2 issues with G+ instant upload:
1. Photos are downscaled to 5 Mpix, not sent as original files.
2. No sync to desktop like Goole Drive or Dropbox.
It can be done!
Another thing you can do is use Google Drive and Dropbox together. This works really well! Just install Dropbox on your phone and computer, but on your computer make Dropbox point to a subfolder somewhere within Google Drive. Then set the option on your phone to always sync your photos into your Dropbox. Have both sync clients running on your PC simultaneously, and the following will take place:
1) You take picture with your phone.
2) Dropbox app uploads your photos to Dropbox automatically.
3) Dropbox client on your PC downloads photos locally, saving them within the Dropbox subfolder of Google Drive
4) Google sync client on your PC spots new local files, uploads files to matching location on Drive.
5) Viola!
It's not perfectly clean but it gets the job done well!
There's a simpler way

Or you could just use this app:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gallery.drive.sync.pro
There is also a free version.

2 gallery related questions

Hi
So I have an s3 and my girlfriend just got hers today... 2 questions.
1) on mine I'm pretty sure since as soon as I set it up. The gallery had had all my Facebook albums in it. Hers doesn't. How did I make them appear in there? I can't seem to find an option for that...
2) on her gallery, any pics in albums marked as instant upload (which have pics from her old android phone that were obviously synced with instant upload) come up with errors if she tries to edit them with either photo editor or instagram or any other photo app. The apps have no problem with new pics taken with the phone. It kind of makes sense that these apps wouldn't be able to edit pics not technically on the phone, but mine does it with no problem.
She just got he phone like 2 hours ago... any ideas?
Thanks

Settings in Facebook and if your sync is turned on or not.
Not sure what you mean about the second part
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I went to Facebook and there is no option about syncing photo albums... It just did it automatically on my phone. I'm thinking MAYBE it was a feature of Friendcaster though? Which automatically reinstalled from my play account when i bought my phone even though I had no intention of using it (I had it on an old phone)... But yea I see no option in the regular Facebook app about syncing photo albums, just contacts...
Also my other question, there are like 5 "Instant Upload" albums with the picasa logo next to them of old pictures taken on her old phone. They're all viewable but you can't edit the pictures in them using any of the photo editor apps. It's like they're not really there other than for viewing.

Direct save?

New to android, why don't apps like Facebook and twitter have direct save for pictures the way iOS does?
Because Google plus uploads video and pictures once taken.
I think he means why cant we save images from Facebook to the device.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
You can't save directly to the device however if you open the picture in facebook app there are these three little dots for options (I think you know what I mean). Then go to Share and then you can share the picture with picasa, g+ or google drive. Depending on your setup / sync routine saving to picasa / google drive should be almost the same as saving to to your device directly. Only difference is that the picture is saved in your drive folder instead of Pictures or downloads or whereever you intended to store the downloaded files. Hope this helps!
Will try that on Fb. Anyway to do on Twitter? I know about screenshots but just seems iOS made doing this easier
I dont use twitter myself but if there is a possibilty to display images fullscreen it should work the exact same way

Oh my bad Lol. Yea on the Facebook app their is no save to device but what you can do and I do this is share the photo via text and then save it. Hit the three little dots> share> messages. Then send it to yourself and your good to go.
install any 4star and above rated download manager and then share to it.

HTC One M8 Gallery Issues

Hi, if anyone can help with my issue id really appreciate it.
ITS DRIVING ME NUTS
I believe this issue not to be specific to the HTC One but Ive never had it before.
The issue is that I keep getting random photo albums appearing in my gallery.
The photos look to be cached images, say from apps and that sort of things.
Everytime i go in and delete them and check back later, I have more.
Ive searched Google and cant find a solution.

Check and see what Google syncs.. Sometimes Google + photos snyc to gallery, picaso photos or whatever their called.. So uncheck them and then clear data on gallery apk..
Same with other apps you have accounts with

That would drive me nuts... My gallery just crashes all the time after rooting and applying one of the roms
I had this problem too. Only way I could solve it was to press menu button at the gallery home screen and select show/hide albums. Select the ones you want to display and return to gallery.

Install quickpic from the play store and "hide" the folders with the offending images in.
They are usually from apps that have images in them.,
Once hidden in quickpic they will not appear in gallery
Just hide the album like duvall87 mentioned.
That's the only way.

Same here
I have the same issue this Cache folder keeps coming back and most frustrating part is that all these photos are uploaded to G+.
I have another issue as well with SD card. I delete files from External SD card and it keeps coming back this happens only when I copy some files from my PC to SD Card.
Anyone has any solution to this?

had the same problem, I browse a lot on 9gag ( images and crap), look at gallery and found aprox, 1700 images and 500 mp4 (gif) i browsed acros.
I just delete them every time but maybe this helps
settings---account/synchronise---google---( click your gmail account)---
when in your google account it says in syncs data from
-agenda
-apps
-automatic back-up
-chrome
-contacts-
-drive
-gmail
-google...
-...
-....
experiment with unchecking some of these like uncheck the syncs app data of chrome
If fixed it with installing ES file explorer and added .nomedia file to android/data/
Rebooted device and everything seems to work like it should...
No cache files in gallery
hopefully a fix

Download es file explorer from the play store, add a new file and name it (.nomedia) WITHOUT THE BRACKETS!
