Gnote 2 Text input help - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Anyone know if anywhere in the settings you can get it to do like other phones where when you type and it guesses your word you can press space and it will put the word for me , i don't know if it's just me or the phones keyboard is touchy but i'm misspelling words left and right

I'm pretty sure the stock keyboard doesn't have auto correct

Samsung keyboard auto correckt

On the note one it would auto currect but as you can see it wont on note two. I want to stay with the samsong keyboard but was auto correct instead of checking my words and selecting the currect one on each word I messs up. Cant find the option in settings

I can't find an option in there for auto-correct either. I've used several keyboards, and Swiftkey 3 has been, by far, the best at prediction. You could buy it from the play store, or you could install Google's 4.2 keyboard and see if it works for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1964663
I expected the same thing, it does slow me down a lot to not be able to blow through words letting it do it's thing! I like the kb better than note 1 because it doesn't lag and slow down, but I do wish it would start correcting automatically.

Keyboard spell correction stinks...

As title states...just picked up my Note 2 today. Best phone I've ever owned hands down, but the spell correction is non existent...literally. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? I see the correct spelling as suggestions, but if I hit the space bar they are not chosen. Thanks in advance.

Which keyboard are you using?

Stock samsung keyboard

I didn't like it at the beginning either, but it sorta grows on me now. I like the feature that it predicts my next word if I type part of a phrase. Also I can type a few words without hitting space, and the keyboard can insert space between the words. That's really neat.

Try the swype keyboard that's pre-installed. It gives you the option to choose the correct word. Another step but I like the swype keyboard better. Give it a try.

SwiftKey on all my devices.

Not a huge deal but very odd that if you type like normal, text just doesn't spell check...ever. It shows the right spelling above the keyboard, but won't automatically change to that word. I still think I'm missing something.

yeah same as OP i thought auto correct automatically would change the word for you but nope

Yes that is weird. But if you swype the word it will spell check it for you.

My experiences on keyboard accuracy. 1. Swype beta is fastest and most accurate with voice swyping. Much better than pre-installed Swype. HOWEVER s~ pen does not work at all. There is a microphone button. 2. Swype installed had no Mic button and short several features of the free beta...i guess s~ voice may cover that but haven't figured that our yet and too many steps when likely to use Mic.. 3. Samsung keyboard a good compromise but a compromise it is. Swyping less accurate, Mic button buried, voice recognition not as good as sywpe beta, s pen works well, no navigation like the beta, but I really like the always present number row. Now if Swype beta fixed the s~ pen problem and adds a number row it will be perfect. In the meanwhile i am compromising by using the Samsung keyboard.

Decided to go with SwiftKey... Seems to be better than anything I've used before. I'll stick with this a while.

This. I like it better. I sometimes text in Spanish, and the auto correct was a nightmare, also if you use abbreviations or slang words. I also like that I can put the cursor on a word I already wrote and it will give me the correct spelling. I have big fingers and hit the c or v key alot with the space bar, I can fix those mistakes easily now.
I want the Samsung keyboard from the note 1 on the note2

Ok note II owners I have a question.. Any answers?

First of I'm using the original Samsung keyboard that comes on the phone. Sometimes when I go to type using the swipe like feature all my words run together like this (hellotherewhattimeisit) with no spaces at all and other times it will type correctly. . I haven't figured out what causes this and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.
Thanks in advance

My guess is that it has to do with the field you are typing in. For example the browser address bar wouldn't need spaces between the words.
As mr_wrong_0 states. This depends which input field you are writing in. The latest Swift Flow Beta is said to behave better.
This happens in the default messaging app. Sometimes It runs together and sometimes it doesn't.

get the real Swype. it's better than the stock in all things

Have you accidentally saved hashtags to your dictionary on the keyboard?
Use the Kii Keyboard. It's by far the best one out there and the swype feature is far more accurate and smoother than any other.

Sense keyboard or other keyboard with arrow keys?

Is there a port of the Sense keyboard or is there another keyboard with arrow keys that aren't buried behind 3 layers of alt key switches? A lot of people think the arrow keys are a huge waste of screen but I frequently edit long posts, and it's maddening trying to position the cursor somewhere exactly before or after some specific letter by jabbing your finger and hoping it does't misinterpret what you wanted as highlighting, zooming, cut or paste or delete, etc...

Yeah, SwiftKey has a toggle for arrow keys in its settings. They take up a little extra real estate, but I like them

I've honestly never seen arrow keys in Android... lol
Except for when I had the epic 4g and that was a physical keyboard.
I guess you learn new things everyday

I think legacy features still come in handy now and then. If you don't have the finger precision of a child-laborer, text editing can be a hassle without those arrow keys

Yeah true..
Well at least the s pen adds a bit more precision.
But I rarely find myself actually using it
So are the arrow keys specific to htc legacy devices?
Maybe that's why I've never seen them... I've never owned anything htc
I've played with some htc devices...but when I did they didn't have sense for very long for me to see them
No, HTC just happened to include the arrows as a feature of the Sense keyboard. SwiftKey includes it as a theme option.

Thumb keyboard 4 has arrow keys that are resizeable. Hell the whole keyboard is customizable from the size to layout and theme, I just wish it had an option for the 5th row of numbers
I like to break stuff!
touchpal keyboard has an option to show them too
a.i. keyboard has both the number row and arrows

I use Kii and it had asked add the for bottom keys as well add the top number row. It also allows you to customize the background.

Space bar on Swype keyboard

I love the Swype keyboard dint get me wrong but have found that it's space bar is way to small and half the the time I end accidentally hitting the comma or period symbol. I might also email Nuance regarding this issue and see what they can advise or do about it
Sent from my GT-N7105T using xda premium
It automatically inserts space when you're swyping right? If you're not swyping, might as well try out other keyboards.
Disable Dragon and handwriting, it'll make the spacebar a little wider.
If you've a feature request, then go to Swype forum, and post accordingly. It'll get more attention then emailing.
