HI !
This is not my work all credit to laehmic.
Tested working on s3 mini.
original thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183614
works on rooted and stock.
Root version benefits..
- Power options; Normal reboot, Hot reboot. Reboot recovery, Reboot bootloader, Shutdown
- Wipe options; Wipe cache, Wipe dalvik-cache, Wipe battery statistics, Wipe all app data
- Mount options; mount System parition RW/RO, mount Data partition RW/RO
- Convert app to System app, revert conversion
- Instant screen off option, locks device into sleep mode
instal as normal apk.
enjoy!

Kind of cool. Although there seems to be some conflict between this apps mobile data and easy battery saver.. I got constant freezes until I uninstalled ebs, and then I had to switch data back to 2g/3g auto.

Best way to wipe? Lol

What do you do to make your roms run great everytime. Wipe data 1x, 2x, 3x. Etc. I get force closes and wondering if I didn't wipe right. I also got boot manager with miui stable as rom 1. It's been acting wierd lately. Hoping Simone can give me tips on flashing through clockwork and installing through boot manager for best results.

I don't use boot manager, but for a clean install of a ROM, format boot and system, and wipe data/Factory Reset, all just once.
cvpcs.org/blog/2011-06-05/time_to_wipe_data/cache
Boot to cwm recovery.
Go to mounts and storrage menu.
Format every option available except emmc and sdcard.
Flash rom of your choosing.

Exactly what this guy said. Wipe data/factory reset takes care of /data, /datadata, and /cache all in one stroke. All that's left is /boot and /system
Also, with MIUI you may need to clear out your app cache regularly. Use this App Cache Cleaner, it's super simple. That should help your fc problems.
These are the steps I follow when flashing ROMs. Seems to work well for me:
Reboot your phone into Bootloader Mode. (You can do that by pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power buttons until HBOOT boots.)
Using the Volume keys, highlight Recovery and select it by tapping the Power button. Your phone will now boot to Recovery Mode.
Create a NANDroid backup of your current ROM. Go to Backup and Restoreand select Backupon the next screen. Wait until recovery finishes backing up your ROM.
Once done, go back to the main menu and perform a full wipe:
[*] ----> Select Wipe data/factory resetand confirm the action on the next screen.
[*] ----> Select Wipe cache partition and confirm the action on the next screen.
[*] ----> Go back to the main menu and select Advanced.From there, select Wipe Dalvik Cache and confirm the action on the next screen.
Select Install ZIP from SD card.
Select Choose ZIP from SD cardand locate the ROM.zip file. Confirm the action on the next screen to flash the ROM to your mobile phone.
Go back to the main menu and flash GoogleApps.zip in the same manner as in steps 6 and 7.
Go back to the main menu and select Reboot system now. This will reboot your phone with the new ROM.
What I normally do is boot into cwm and just do the factory reset/data wipe and that makes everything run nice and smooth whenever i flash a new rom.

Yes. I find that if you don't also do /boot and /system some things linger that can cause problems. I did not do this recently and it still remembered Wifi locations, brought up an old wallpaper and sounds choices via music and ringtones were severely limited. Don't be afraid, do what the man says!!

No need to format boot. Some devices don't even support that option. Plus flashing a new ROM always flashes a new boot.img in its place which overwrites the old one. System is OK but then you have to flash gapps with updates where before its optional. Wiping system isn't a bad idea on sense ROMs as it doesn't always get wiped by the script. On aosp it does and on cm it wipes system after backing up gapps.
Also WiFi and wallpaper choices are stored in datadata not system. If wallpapers come back after a factory reset that is due to Google restore. Sound choices are stored in a database that needs to rebuild after a wipe.

And in swoops tiny wielding the clue-by-four.
Normally I'll only wipe /system if I'm switching ROMs. Updating dailies doesn't require it.

Official cyanmobile 2.3.8

Just wanted to share that this rom works with almost no bugs, and super smooth! Testing it for 2 days using int2ext+ and holo launcher instead of adw.

Thanks for sharing this! I am using Light Orange v7, and I only flashed a rom once... but I really wanted to try a CM 7 - based rom and I have heard that cyanmobile is performing better than CM 7.2 for Gio. The thing is that I am a noob and there are no instructions on the offical cyanmobile thread, which scares me away a bit...
I already have and ext4 filesystem on my rom, an ext4 partition on my sdcard (i use link2sd) and a ext4-only cwm recovery, so how do I flash this (my rom came with a noob-proof aroma installer...)?
I just go to recovery mode, wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and then install zip from sd? No need to mount anything? I probably need to wipe sd ext4, or I just uninstall linked apps?.
Then for gapps I just wipe dalvik cache and install zip from sd?
I just want to be sure before I do anything wrong...
I also wanted to give int2ext+ a try and leave link2sd, since I am told int2ext+ script it is much better!
Thanks for any help you can give.
I do a factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache and wipe battery stats then I format system and format sd-ext.
Then instal rom after that mount system and mount data and flash gapps and mount system and data again and flash cronmod int2ext+ and reboot.
Verstuurd van mijn GT-S5660
thanks

Thanks! It's so confusing to understand what to do before flashing, because I think everyone does it differently! Some say to mount system and data before flashing, others say just wipe cache... If this worked for you, then I guess it will work for me.
I also read an article from a developer at Google saying that battery stats get wiped automatically at every reboot, so there is no need to wipe them manually.
Success!
Just flashed the ROM and everything seems to be fine!
Formatted the sd card and made a larger ext4 partition (1GB) and flashed INT2EXT4+. Now I have a much bigger internal memory!
The settings are just overwhelming!! Everything can be changed! Love the bass boost and integrated equalizer that can be set differently for speaker and headphones (I paid for poweramp with my previous rom... ). And the automatic call when you put the phone to your ear. Now I have to play with it a bit to see what else it can offer, and the performance in games .
Thanks again for the help.
The camcorder is lousy, though... It's the only downside so far. It doesn't compensate for outside light. You start filming a dark area a switch to your window and the screen goes white. You do it the other way around and the screen goes black.
I have solved it by freezing the camera app and installing LgCamera
GPS worked
I can't write on the development thread (too noob, I guess... ), so I will keep posting here my experience with the official cyanmobile 2.3.8 for galaxy Gio.
My GPS had NEVER worked before. And I mean NEVER fixed a single satellite! Not with GPS fix, not with GPS status, not by manually editing the settings, NEVER. It didn't work fresh from the store, it didn't work after I flashed a highly tweaked rom based on 2.3.6, but I was hoping that maybe this time it could work... and it did! It comes with an integrated "GPS tracker" function but that doesn't work and just shows a black screen. Instead I installed GPS status and it fixed 6 satellites within less than 1 minute!! I just won a new GPS device. Probably other CM 7.2 rom would have done it (I don't know), but I wasn't expecting this type of efficiency.
Now I just installed Chainfire 3D and Adrenaline engine 4.4 and I'm loving it so far.
This is the second rom I tried for my Gio (first was JellyBread but it had some problems) and it looks very nice. Options are overwhelming but in a positive way: everything can be customized.
BUT,,, I thought I could use this rom, until I slipped in my sim and wrote my first sms (by the way: Happy Easter!): the sms interface is terrible! I cannot even see what I am writing, there is space for just a single text line and the buttons on the right become so small that they cannot be clicked.
Is there a way to change that? Making the keyboard smaller (I'm using swype, but the stantard keyboard is equally large)? Writing an email in the gmail app is perfect as always, so it should not be a problem of the keyboard.
Also, I installed a few apps (4 or 5) and the internal space already decreased (95MB free now), even if I set to install everything on sd-ext.
And finally, why do the 5 icons at the bottom rotate without a reason?
As cyanmobile is based on cyanogen, you can use a mms.apk from cm7.

Thanks, I might try that.
I found a bug that may explain my problem with internal storage usage.
In setting -> cyanmobile -> install location there is the option to force install to SD-Ext, which I chose. But when I change language to Italian, this option disappears and there remain only automatic, internal, external none of which is selected.
Is the option to install to sd-ext still active, although not shown? I found out that an app I installed was in internal storage, and I had to move it manually.
I can use english, but that would not be ideal.
I made a test installing a big game, Angry Birds Star Wars @49MB. With system language in english, in Applications -> Preferred install location I left Let the system decide; in Cyanmobile -> Install location I selected SD-Ext.
Nevertheless Angry Birds has been installed in the internal memory!
I add another possible bug: when I receive an email with gmail I'm notified as always, but if I click the notification and then close gmail, there is still the notification in the bar.
I also confirm the bug with the camera: when recording a movie, it does not compensate changes in luminosity.

Is there a good cache cleaner like CCleaner for Android?

Is there a good cache cleaner for Android where it cleans the cache of apps and also temporarily download files?
Is the Xposed moduled Smart Booster any good?

Power off, boot into system recovery (Home button+Volume up+Power) and Wipe cache partition...Works great for me and you don't need a cache cleaner.
Next, open Settings - General - Storage Tap Cached data and OK.

5a. APPLY THEMES not from the MIUI store, thanks Tweakforce_LG
A) download the .mtz file of the theme you want. Some good themes are from: https://xiaomininja.com/category/xiaomi/themes/
B) install MIUI theme editor: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mixapplications.miuithemeeditor
C) open the theme editor and open the .mtz file with it.
Advance through the on screen steps. Don't change anything in the actual editing part. Just finish and it will ask if u want to install the theme. Click yes and it will be in the theme list ready to apply'
5b Download paid theme (R4 and R5)
- Go to system/build.prop and delete '_global' from 'ro.product.mod_device=jfltexx_global'
- reboot
- go to theme.apk and download what you want
- recomended after aply theme: Go to system/build.prop and add '_global' to 'ro.product.mod_device=jfltexx'
-reboot
6. COMPAS
The compass works when the gps fixes the position.
If the gps does not fix the position, try this:
Install google maps, open them and set your position. As you position, close the google maps and open the compass. should be OK.
7. The screen is blury when the natural light is strong:
When the screen become blurry at sun, open Settings then go to "Other settings(Stock Settings) / Live Display / Display Mode" And tick Deactivated (off)
8. Set favorit MP3 like ringtons
- Rename your mp3 to easy name (ex: bass.mp3)
- copy mp3 to system/media/audio/ringtons (use mixplorer or another root files manager, set permisions 644)
- reboot
This make your mp3 like a system files. Now you can set mp3 like ringtons.

You can unpack "Miui_8_De-Bloat_Extreme_jfltexx" go to 'META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script and add '#' before the line with the app which you do not want to erase from ROM , for example:
Before:
...
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mv", "/system/priv-app/Browser", "/system/BloatsEX/system/priv-app");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mv", "/system/priv-app/MiDrop", "/system/BloatsEX/system/priv-app");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mv", "/system/priv-app/Weather", "/system/BloatsEX/system/priv-app");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mv", "/system/priv-app/WeatherProvider", "/system/BloatsEX/system/priv-app");
...
After:
...
#run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mv", "/system/priv-app/Browser", "/system/BloatsEX/system/priv-app");
#run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mv", "/system/priv-app/MiDrop", "/system/BloatsEX/system/priv-app");
#run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mv", "/system/priv-app/Weather", "/system/BloatsEX/system/priv-app");
#run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mv", "/system/priv-app/WeatherProvider", "/system/BloatsEX/system/priv-app");
...
Now pack the files into a zip package and flash it in recovery
3. Install from Google Play Store 'AFWall+.apk' to disable Application access to wifi or Mobile data (you can use without flash "Miui_8_De-Bloat_Extreme_jfltexx")
4. Optional disable with Autorun Manager Pro.apk (Works but not tested in a long period of time)

Feedback for 2 hours use
The Rom works good except
1. FC of System UI in some cases, like taking a screenshot and pressing the back button.
2. FC of some apps that get installed from sources other than GP.
3. Some apps do not have icons.
4. SD card has serious issues like it doesn't appear on the PC after USB connect. Also, it doesn't appear in the explorer app which causes a FC.
5. SU binaries are occupied.
I really like it more than the other roms but it is still beta.
I can't wait to use this ROM when it gets out of beta
My wifi didnt work at first either, but I wiped and reinstalled, then it worked, so for anyone having
problems with wifi, try that once, taking the battery out works sometimes. Also the usb is defaulted for charging, so you
have to change it to file or photo transfer to see your sd card via usb.

I tried MTP and still same issue. I also installed a Chinese version of MIUI for S4 and it has more issues that this rom, some are similar so I believe the problem is caused by the difference in usage of Mi Phones and Samsung. Also TWRP doesn't work good, it shows 4 incompatible things also when I restore apps, it requires me to install them manually.
