[Q] Sticker around camera lens? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi is this sticker supposed to be removed? I can't freaking get it off why did they do this?
Its a clear film and I think its on the glass part only not the chrome becuase I cant remove it for the life of me

It's part of the packaging process. I removed mine using my fingernails.

Yeah, I removed mine as well. Its not a complete piece either. The center is cut out, so its o shaped.

Except it doesn't cover the lens! Just the black area around it.

But it makes the center of the lens recessed. Fewer scratches if you lay the phone on a flat surface?

Exactly.
Also, people forget that black area around the camera lens serves a purpose. Without that, your pictures are terrible (see: early versions of white phones).

Did you guys know that there is another sticker on the rear speaker grill? I didn't notice it until it was pointed out in a youtube vid I recently watched.

There is no sticker around the loudspeaker. It is easy to replace a loudspeaker.

Anybody have any idea where I could get an aluminum or nicer battery cover replacement?

im looking for a metal back cover as well. preferably a white one
There are only cases, but no back covers that are metal. It would only damage your phone if you get the battery cover off of it with metal.

I am hoping they release the ZAGG leather skins like they have for other phones. Once that is applied, nothing else is needed!
http://www.zagg.com/leatherskins/index.php
have you really had a SGS3 yet to say that you dont like it??? Geez.... have some patience and you might find that its much better than it looks. Besides getting a metal or alloy piece will be much more scratch prone and that is not something you would like to have!
Alright calm yer beans I was just curious, like im sure many others are.

sure, im curius as well, to see why half the reviewers of the S3 say the rear cover is brilliant and nothing like the photos show, and the other half insist that its 'plasticky'
then i can decide about covers. However i have already preordered some a couple of cases to go with the phone anyway as im sure it will be a while before they will ever make proper rear covers to replace.

A metal case would really screw up your reception, and stop a lot of things like GPS and NFC from working. Take a look at the old transformers

[Inquiry] possible rubbing compounds to fix scratches on the screen?

Hi.
Recently, for the first time in months I was able to experience broad daylight. And I saw three scratches on my hox.
Can anyone confirm a certain product able to remove them?
Much appreciated if it is available locally here in the Philippines. The 3M one is yet to call me back for availability.
Thanks guys

The screen has an oleophobic coating, you'll lose that before touching the scratches.

and you don't wanna lose it - the coating increases hardness to around 9h, versus 7h without the coating.
So I'm opting to replacement housing as best resolution?
Thanks for the lightning fast feedback by the way

Replacement housing won't have the screen as such, old phones would have when they weren't touch screen, but in these the screen and the glass that covers is its own unit, the glass is glued to the screen, unfortunately if you want to replace, you'd need the whole new screen
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
the best solution i have found to remove scratches(doesn't really) is to put a screen protector, especially if the scratches are thin/small.
but you can try using a car-scratch marker, if the scratches are that deep XD
Gonna note that down. How about 3m stuffs? Need some more options before I start killing myself heh

Anyone smooth/sanded a TPU case before?

Received this case:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/160881769645?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I like it alot so far but the tpu has rough edges, wondering if anyone knows how I could attempt to fix it? I know I could just try sandpaper but would hate to ruin a new case if the sandpaper doesnt work
What part of it is too rough?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I haven't done it on neoprene, but possibly a lapping kit may work. For example, when I lap a cpu or water block, I can usually find a lapping kit which includes various types/levels of roughness of sandpaper. Obviously it would be on the other spectrum as a cpu but one of the pieces should work, it usually includes about 10 different kinds. I'll see if I have any left, cause I usually use the second softest to polish, which may work

Weird Marks?

Anyone notice any weird, fungus like marks on the back of their S3's? They are like random spots on the phone. I am calling them weird became I have had a case on my phone from day one, and I have never let it go without the case so there is no possibility that it would have got scratched?
Also if anyone came across this and found a way to get rid of them, please let me know!
do they clean off at all? fungus makes me think that moisture got between the case and the battery cover

My one X only had white carbon fiber back on it, so I'm curious how it looks. I like the grip it adds.
I don't know if I'll do the screen or not. The screen on the ONE is amazingly fingerprint resistant.
I wonder if their carbon fiber gun metal would cover up the white sufficiently.
