Early adopters, notice any lag? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I've been reading some of the at&t s4 thread and some of the members are saying they're experiencing some lag. I want to know if you guys are noticing any lag because mine is being shipped right now. Thanks in advance.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app

yup. noticeable lag between switching apps
Sent from my SGH-M919

I have seen a few posts about lag but I dont see it. If they're talking about the split second it takes to open an app then they are crazy. This phone is fast. Coming from the s2 which was a great phone this thing is amazing.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app

Lag in menus, lag when waking device, lag when app switching. I'm 100% this is tw related and will be fixed. Besides that the phone is great!!

Compared to an S2, it is blazing fast. But coming from a S3 with CM10.1 I can notice lag.

I have almost 3-5 second lag when going from Landscape to portrait. And it is kinda annoying.
Strange part is that there is no lag when going tom Portrait to Landscape.
Already unlocked the Dev option. I think I am going Force GPU now to see if it helps.

Wow this is pretty disappointing to hear considering this is Samsung's flagship and all..
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app

Go into development options and speed up the animations I turned mine off and I don't see lag anywhere not between menus switching apps or anything I personally don't care about animations anyways so yeah try it..
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2

Yeah some lag but who cares, this is a Badass phone. I'm sure the Devs will work the last out in time.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium

I think it's common now with Samsung phones you will see some degree of lag due to the many features and somewhat gimmicky software preloaded into the phone. Updates should follow soon, probably during the summer, to clean up some lag. If not, there'll be ROMs coming soon where this beast of the phone can really be experienced.

Cool video player feature

Ever touched the screen on your video while watching it by mistake? Happened to me all the time on my og note. On the note2 if you press the power button the screen locks and continues to play the video. Its the little things that matter people, the little things.

One thing I have noticed

I upgraded to this phone about a month ago, and my spouse got the GSIII. I love the phone and wouldn't trade it for anything. However, often my spouse asks me to do stuff for her on her phone, so I get to play with the GSIII pretty often. When I use her phone it seems so much smoother in its scrolling.
Is it just because it has a smaller screen? Has anyone else noticed that? Not a big deal for me, I still don't want a GSIII, but it is just something I noticed. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

How can you get smoother than perfectly smooth? I recommend another launcher like Nova.
Launcher, screen transition effects, widgets, and use of live wallpapers will affect smoothness. Compare similar setups, then decide. My Note 2 is smoother than my wifes GS3.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
same situation here. the gs3 is way "smoother" than my note 2. not faster... smoother. hard to explain...
it's almost like the frame rate is higher? but when I use the lady's gs3, it's quite noticeable.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I have Nova Launcher prime. One home screen. No live wallpaper....or live widgets. The GSIII is just smoother when scrolling in menus...no other way to dice it. Perhaps its a Qualcomm vs. Exynos issue?

Who gives a damn we all love this phone more than the s3. Believe me
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I think its not the note 2 being so bad but just shows how really good of a phone the s3 is. The only reason i moved on was bc iam 6 foot 4 with gorilla hands lol and i love the way the note 2 feels. I dont use the multiview or the s pen. My fiance still has the s3 and i agree its a very smooth phone.

Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I just had to do a side by side scrolling test in google and I see exactly what you mean. Im almost 100% sure its the screen size making it seem smoother. Screen brightness also seemed to make the screen more or less smooth.

You're the only person who actually brought up the processor difference! Even tho the GS3 is a dualcore you guys have to remember it has a newer chip Snapdragon S4 Krait then the one on our Quadcore Note 2. Which is the same Exynos 4412 chip on my previous Epic Touch but with two more extra cores. In other words it's old! Still no big difference tho to be so worked up about. Unless you're going to use both phones back to back you won't notice a difference..

If you're on LTE it can send and receive mms, and browse the Web while you're on a call. It's not that the chip can't handle it. It's just that 3g and voice use the same hardware so you can't do both, but you can while on LTE.
And sprint just disabled the camera when on a call. The note is more than capable of doing it.

You can do 3G data on calls on the GS3, HTC EVO LTE, VIPER, and other Qualcomm based phones. I had the Sprint GS3 and had no issues using data and calls at the same time. Everybody knows that! Where you been?
Our Note can't do it because it has the Exynos chip.

Stuttering on stock note 2

I have a completely stock galaxy note 2. For some reason sometimes when I pull down the notification bar and the icons are scrolling across the top you can easily see stuttering. Scrolling through some menus sometimes as well. Is there something I can do to fix this or is it a hardware problems?

ohh well dont worry about it if during the day your phone last at least 10 hours of overall use then dont worry ...but if the battery drains quickly then it might be the ROM, or your battery or multiples widgets are running all day
Your phone should not get very hot (if at all) while charging.
Two main reasons this will occur
1. Wrong voltage on AC charger (if you're not using stock)
2. Rom/Kernel issues
I've definitely experienced my phone getting hot when streaming HD video or playing cpu/gpu intensive games for a while.

That is perfectly normal. Thats where the processor is situated. It is normal for the CPU to reach temps of around 70 degrees under heavy usage. As long as the phone isnt shutting itself off because of overheating you are fine!
These phones tend to get hot at times, if it is hot all the time then you have an issie.

That galaxy 7" my mom picked to replace hers is doing nicely, I'm not sure it's a huge improvement but it runs well enough and probably lower in price now then it was a few months ago, especially with the first gen n7 coming down to $200 for 32gb. The screen alone would make it a better device then the a100 if nothing else.
OK. Asus memo pad. Its like $100 right now, and it has like a 5340ma battery, I'm all about that! Reportedly they're gonna come out with a new one for $150 though, and the Samsung one has an ir blaster built in, and multiwindow, and since it Samsung there should be a strong development forum to fallback on. Tough call.
