I am having a really bad problem in my Galaxy S4, and have been trying to fix it for a full day.
Basically, many of the default android apps fail to work. By fail, I mean the screen becomes fuzzy, or completely dissorited, and just crashes. The phone also randomly restarts when I use it.
Overall, I really can't use the phone. I have attached screenshots of some of the issues I am facing on the phone.
I have tried reinstalling Android version 4.2.2, but the same problem occurs.
Any help on this matter would be MASSIVELY appreciated!

Looks like you might have gotten a bad unit. At this point, I think you should just go ahead and exchange the device rather than trying to waste time trying to figure out what's wrong. If you buy it from T-Mobile, you should get free overnight shipping. If the one you got was from T-Mo, just return it to that 4500 address and they'll refund you fully.

update your prl 2x and your profile 2x..if that doesn't work. do a factory reset and then do this process again.

If you google att galaxy s3 jelly bean in a news search and limit the range to past month you'll find that this info has been out for about 3 weeks. I have a website link on my work PC to a site that lists when the update is coming. Att still says pending though. I'll post the site monday if I remember. That said even 3rd world nations are getting it. Jelly bean should've been on this phone at launch and I'm really wishing HTC had an SD card slot so I wouldn't have bought this buggy POS phone.

Hmmm.....I think you got a lemon...mine's been flawless...18+ hour battery life, smooth...no crashes...no lock ups....
Hope this is true, as much as I love my AOKP ROM, I really do miss some of the TouchWhiz features like Smart Stay and AllShare. I'll probably switch over to a rooted, de-bloated TW ROM after this comes out.

Looks like we have ourselves a good ole' fashion rumor train going with these Jelly Bean updates. You guys should do yourselves a favor and not worry about anything until an official announcement is made.
On that note, could we also have a single thread for all rumors of Jelly Bean updates? I can easily see threads like these getting to be annoying after a while, and I actually fully expect that to happen.

The only reason you bought the phone was for the SD card slot?
Buggy? Have you read reviews? Are you on a rom or stock? You must either have a junk phone or you must be doing something to it.

I am on the stock rom; never rooted. The first bug I had was that notifications I would apply in the stock calendar app wouldn't stay as I set them. The second bug I've had that's never been fixed is that it takes about 10 full seconds for the brightness to auto adjust; in fact it's ruining some of my vids/pics if my thumb covers the sensor by the front speaker. Another bug I have is that when I rotate the phone it often doesn't rotate (yes I've calibrated) then I have to rotate it back and forth to get it to go.
All that said I didn't mean to offend you hard core fans. I've had a lot of different Android phones and this one is decent enough. I've had to factory reset like 3 times to see if the problems go away....they do not. The notification sound not setting was fixed by the last update though. I may have a lemon but unfortunately it's not messed up enough that I can justify a replacement. It's slightly annoying all the time, and very annoying at other times; and that's when I factory reset and install back the exact same apps so I can't blame them.

I get amazing battery life, no crashes, occasional lock ups though. As far as smooth, I've never seen it run smooth.

Like I said you might have a junk phone. I have never seen any of those problems on my phone and I don't know anyone who has or does while running stock. In all honesty the only problem is that the phone gets really hot.

With that many defects, i would get a warranty replacement. They send you a phone, then you send your old one back.

If you are unlucky enough to have the current data outage situation - open ticket IM1579732 - I have spoken to Cus Serv just now and find that many impacted users have had their accounts repaired and you may have the ability to reacquire the network via a profile update.
However the ticket is still open and for the rest of us we are currently awaiting full completion of the work which is estimated to be done by tomorrow evening at 6:30 pm central time.
If you have had this problem, are you a business/corporate customer? I am and my friends with Galaxy S3's on normal accounts are not affected..

I'm in 08054 in NJ. I've had crappy data all day. Google News only loads a fraction of the time. I did get a signal and did a Profile and PRL update around 2pm, but I'll try again. It didn't seem to do much or rather made it worse.

They tried to put another S3 on my account to activate but that would not even work. So right now there appears to be a provisioning backlog where new activations are waiting. Maybe today..
As soon as my new s3 came the old one started to work. 20 texts messages popped up. I'm keeping my old one. I don't like refurbished phones. My old one is great and no drops.

Yeah my old one started working when my new one came in but in the end I switched only problem is power button sticks once every few hours annoying but I really don't want to go back to the store and deal with them again

And the wise decision is always sticking to XDA posted ROMs, by reputable devs. Anyone can make a ROM, post it somewhere... And it turns out its broken. But not here. Roms need to work to be posted.

hey sorry for the vent and the lack of forum knowledge i usually never post unless last resort but freaked cause i have no now. but lesson learned and thanks for rom advice and i looked back and saw rom was a mirror i didnt notice that before

I came form the M8 and never had dropped calls. I have had this phone for 4 days now and have had call trouble at least 8 times. I haven't been using it in any new or low coverage areas. I have disabled HD calling to see if that is the issue. Anyone else having trouble?

I would guess the HD calling is the culprit...depending on where you are at, if your LTE signal isn't consistently strong and your phone is switching between 4G/3G etc the call drops from what I've read. I am in NJ, so most of the state is bathed in 4G....but I definitely drive through some areas that still drop to 3G....I'll test it out over the next few days.

I know this is an old post but I have been having this issue lately and I can't figure it out. I have flashed many ROM's and still the same issue. I popped my sim into my old M8 and the drop call issue is gone. The call always drops at the beginning of the call it is extremely aggravating. I was just wondering if you have figured out this issue? I am afraid s-off may have caused it. I have disabled advanced calling and get the same issue. It is looking like I might have to send it back for warranty but not sure the best way to return to stock since we have no RUU. If anyone can help me with this please do. Thanks

LOL well I have been looking with what little time I have and haven't seen it. Wow that will be a relief. Hoping it will fix my issue. But what about s-off status, can we change it back to s-on? Sorry If I missed it I have been really sick and irritated and it has been hard to focus. Thanks Buddy.

Yes. I posted the ruu up in its own thread. I personally had to return one phone already because volte got cooked.

Volte stopped working and nothing I or Verizon did fixed it.

On verizon, never had issues with dropped calls before in my house/surrounding area (from incredible, rezound, Galaxy s4, wife's iphone) for the past 8 years and now service with my m9 is horrendous. Im on my 3rd replacement from verizon with the same issue. I get dropped calls/missed calls/texts unable to send non stop in my home area and when Im in anything less than perfect signal wise. Sometimes it will take 5-10 mins from when i get in my car to switch from 1x to 4g while my wife's phone and previous phones never were in 1x. This phone like many new phones has a single radio. If you start a call on 4g and fall off 4g the call goes. That is not a fault of the phone but moreso the way the death of cdma is playing out.
You may want to find a 4g network extender or get vzw to give you one.
