[Jailbreak]Take Note Verizon - Root/Jailbreak/Recovery - Galaxy Note 10.1 Original Development

Update: this will not work on the recent firmware updates.
Hey, you can't jailbreak an Android.. yeah, i know, but "Jailbreak" is a protected act under the USA DMCA Exemption of 2012 and "Unlocking" is illegal without carrier permission. There will be no misunderstandings here.
WARNING:
This is not a normal bootloader unlock. This is even higher. It's an IROM unlock. This device went from the most secure Galaxy Note 10.1 to the least secure. After performing the technique in this thread your device will allow you to flash a Justin Beiber MP3 over your bootloaders (that means a hard brick). BE VERY CAREFUL and never flash with Odin or Heimdall unless you're absolutely sure it is intended for a SCH-I925. Odin or Heimdall can easily brick your device.
Introduction
CASUAL will guide you through the process of unlocking your bootloader using exploits developed by Lee Harrison. It works on Windows, Linux, and Mac. Put your device into “Developer Mode>USB Debugging”. Click the do it button. Any problems will be addressed with updates. See the About CASUAL section below.
Overview
You are expected to be STOCK.... Stock anything, but stock. This will install a stock kernel and that may affect non-stock roms. You will need to download and execute the CASUAL application below. Make sure you're connected to the internet. Then click the Do It! button. You need Java. Do you have Java?.
Windows 32/64 Users: CASUAL will put your device into Download Mode. It will automatically flash everything. If drivers are required, jrloper's CADI (CASUAL Automated Driver installer) will handle it. Make sure you're connected to the internet.
Linux 32/64/raspberry pi Users There may be a permission escalation in order to install heimdall, either way sit back and relax. CASUAL automates the entire process.
Please run the following in a terminal first:
Mac Users: Mac works easierr than any other system at the time of this release on 32bit systems. Please report problems.
Download
Take Note Verizon CASUAL(R478b) CASUAL is used to automate the process. The exploit was developed by Elite Recognized Developer Ralekdev and packaged by AdamOutler. To run CASUAL you need Java. Do you have Java?
Note: Please don't mirror this file. Link to this thread for download. d-h.st is a fast server. If I find people mirroring old versions of CASUAL, i will throw the killswitch and their browser will bring them back here to download the new one so they end up downloading it twice, otherwise I have to support multiple versions.
Videos
Demonstration on Linux. It is roughlty the same on Windows and Mac, but if anyone wants to make a video I will put it here.
About CASUAL
CASUAL stands for Cross-platform ADB Scripting, Univeral Android Loader. CASUAL jar files are a wrapper for the CASUAL scripting language. CASUAL allows rapid and accurate deployment of hacks and exploits. CASUAL is an Open Format, meaning, you can find out as much as you need to about how it works because they're easily taken apart and modified with WinZip. CASUAL is also secure. At any time, if a serious problem is detected with any script, the kill-switch will be flipped and you will be brought to a support page (most likely here) so you can download the latest version. Otherwise for minor corrections, new CASUAL scripts can be deployed remotely.
Here's a picture of CASUAL and a Verizon GNote10.1 running Team Win Recovery

Change Log
3May13: Initial Release
6May13: Updated Recovery to support Internal SD. -R478b

This unlock was basically identical to the second Galaxy Note 2 unlock except I had to add a few more tweaks because we're shoving a modified N8010 bootloader onto the i925.

great work guys as usual! you guys never cease to amaze me

Does this install the same TWRP version as Dees-Troy is working on in this forum? Just curious because that one is pretty rough with touch issues and it would be great to have a more functional one. I have the 8013...

I have the U.S. Cellular i925u. Is there anyway to get this to work. I'm not interested in keeping the 4g capability. I'm ok with using WiFi only. I tried using the Casual install but it failed.

CASUAL will let you root, but it won't install files that will damage your device. Even if it would, it's a bad idea. This is an IROM unlock, intended for Verizon devices only. IROM unlock means you can flash anything you want including files that destory your device.
You don't need this if you can flash custom kernels and ROMs. We have taken down all defenses here. If the U.S. Cellular version is locked down and you cant flash kernels/ROMs without it, I can release a new, updated version.

Thanks Sir. The U.S. Cellular version is locked down like the Verizon version as far as I can tell. Since the US Carriers decided to do the same crap with the bootloaders. I have root using framaroot but I'm unable to install a recovery or flash a kernel.

Hit me up on an email with the output of terminal emulator command "cat /system/build.prop"

Update: rebooted windows 8 and the install went through fine.

Adam,
So here is what I am seeing, see the pictures attached

Alright guys. I'm uploading two new packages....
The first one is the latest copy of the Take Note Verizon jailbreak. It includes a modified Recovery by Dees_Troy. Our Note 10.1's are different than the other ones.
Differences: The partition structure is totally different. The kernels are totally different. This means you will soft-brick your device by flashing anything in these forums involving a recovery or a kernel other than this one. That being said..... It may be a good idea to get a separate forum. If you are interested, please start a *NEW THREAD* in General forums listing all the i925 specific threads which could be moved.
Alright. For the second part, I'm uploading a Rooted back-to-stock which I packaged from my own device before unlocking it and flashing stuff. Here's the technique used. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082951 . This file is large so it will be a while before it's uploaded. The files included are basically everything needed to safely get back from a custom ROM and be rooted stock again.
Files included: boot.img, hidden.img, modem.bin, param.bin, recovery.img, system.img
We don't have a way to remove the modified system status currently. There is no completely back to stock.

no. The hardware is different. The bootloaders are similar. You need a different kernel
As a note: Never flash an N8010 bootloader. this is a SPECIAL bootloader based on the N8010 bootloader. Just pretend it has nothing to do with N8010. For all practical purposes, this is an I925 bootloader we crafted out of an N8010 because we didn't have a i925 to work with.

Ok thanks, mostly just curious as i own the N8013 but considered the verizon version or selling and getting the unlocked international.

Thanks a ton Adam! Worked perfectly.
So if I have this correctly, we will be running stock until we get a dev to start working on our variant? I would assume that the other roms wouldn't install correctly with the partitions being different correct?

Great work Adam, almost sent you a PM begging you to take this project on about 6 weeks ago... thanks!
But I had some problem as I ran the script, it stopped after it had rebooted and was stuck in Download Mode and asked me for my XDA username for some pastebin. The last information in that pastebin was:

Thanks again,

HELP AND SUPPORT

DESCRIPTION OF THIS THREAD
Back in 2011 I sat down and wondered what I could do to help a community that helped me so much and continues to help people everyday from bricked phones to shiny new things on their respective devices and this is what I created, with the guidance of certain moderators of course.
[*]I wanted to create a thread in which any question can be asked, be it porting related or anything and we all help each other out, this has been going for a few years now and has been a huge success so I have updated the quick start guide and I will be a more ever-present force in the thread to answer any help and such that you may need, because if we all help each other this place can be a more user-friendly and more interactive place to visit.
Please also note you may PM me if you wish to ask anything in private, or if you feel the need to just say hello.
Please also note that this thread was indeed a sticky at one time however I had other commitments in 2011 (College and such) and it was removed by November 2011.
[*]For donations, I would kindly ask you to donate to the Macmillan cancer care and support, however if you wish to donate to me I will donate it to the charity anyway, myself and Macmillan thank you for your support, no one should have to face cancer alone.
HERE IS A GUIDE TO GET STARTED
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE v1.0
Rooting - Gives you complete root system access allowing things to be done that usually would be denied.
[*]S-OFF - (HTC Devices) Basically means you can flash ROM's to the SYSTEM partitions and such.
[*]Write Protection - This can mean a variety of things, from a locked boot-loader to SD card access, consult your device forum for information.
[*]Bricked(Soft) - Soft brick means that it can be recovered using appropriate methods found in your device forum.
[*]Bricked(Hard) - Very hard to fix usually means it's beyond repair but can be fixed in certain circumstances and at a local repair dealer for your phone.
[*]Kernels - The backbone of the phone, they are responsible for making everything run, the CPU, Schedulers and such are configurable using the kernel.
[*]CPU0 - Different for each phone however CPU0 is usually the 1st logical processor followed by 1,2,3 for quad core phones.
[*]Dual Core/Quad Core - Dual core means you get CPU0 and CPU1, Quad core means CPU0, CPU1, CPU2 and CPU3 are all available.
[*]Chip-set - This is your main-board, it means what your phone is built upon.
[*]Lib files - Found in /system/lib usually however this can be different, they control the software to firmware gaps on your phone, so they enable sound, camera, video; the major things live here, don't touch it unless you know what you're doing.
[*]Battery Stats - These control how long your battery lasts, they are reset when you delete the file from the system however it's strongly recommended you don't delete them.
[*]AOSP - Basically means the original Google Android software as a bare-bone OS.
[*]Partitions - These are different for each phone and should be treated with great care for example flashing a puppy to the radio partition would be a foolish action.
[*]Launchers - They change the UI of the phone, there are many out there so try them all until you find one that suits you just right.
[*]Logcat - This is only useful if you have an error with your phone, it's a simple adb logcat command however I prefer to use QTADB which is a nice GUI style logct application.
[*]ROM's - You flash these on phones that are able to flash Custom software, you can get many varieties however the main ones are 'Stock' the original phone OS, 'CM' which is AOSP, 'MIUI' An AOSP/AOKP style crossover mimics the iOS UI.
[*]Recovery - When flashed; custom recovery allows you to make changes to the different partitions inside the phone for example flashing a custom ROM.
[*]Flashing - Basically writing information to a partition or making a fool of yourself in public (the latter is not recommended due to laws)
[*]Over-clocking - This means pushing your hardware beyond its manufacturers original settings, this can be useful to create a faster phone but treat it with care as you can damage phone hardware.
[*]Under-clocking - This means lowering the stress on the system by making the hardware run slower than it's intended to do, great for saving battery.
[*]Under-volting - This means under-volting your CPU or GPU, this can cause stability issues but on the plus side can save battery, it's all about striking a balance.
[*]Benchmarking - This means to test your phone to its max and find out how it stacks up against other devices.
[*]IO Schedulers- They control how the system reacts in different situations, there are different types of Schedulers available so use each until you find one suitable for you (protip: Use fiops or noop)
[*]CPU Governors - They control the CPU frequencies and such for example "Performance governor" will give you constant speed, whereas "Conservative governor" will give you low speed.
[*]GPU Governors - They do the same as their CPU counterparts except they control the graphical section of the hardware.
[*]Radios - They control the baseband aspects of a phone (your network and such) they have different names for each device, they are very dangerous to mess around with.

This should work
i know you said you had tried it but try again, DO everything as it says, even if it's as simple as case sensitive names..
Do you know any methods of rooting 2.3.4? The device I'm looking to root is a Kyocera Echo running GB 2.3.4. Gingerbreak, SuperOneClick, and z4root (lol), have all failed in rooting the device.
As far as I know, there's no locked bootloaders or anything that should be in the way except for no recovery. The Echo has fastboot if there's actually a method of rooting through there.
Thanks.
just tried it not working after some time it says device connected do u think coredroid is worth all the trouble?

How can I sign a ROM or a bootloader for Samsung Recovery 3E?
Where was this thread 4 months ago when I was not getting any sleep. Thanks.
I'd like to try and become a developer, mainly because my Samsung Droid Charge hasn't received any AOSP love yet and I want to try and help the dev(s) that are working on it, also I would like to make my own rom. But I have no idea where to start, and I have questions like do I need Linux, do I need to/where do I learn terminal commands, how does smali/baksmali work, how to compile/decompile, how does github work, what is a toolchain, do I need to know how to code, do I need to know any languages, what is Eclipse...stuff like that. I'm a complete noob at this kind of stuff and I feel it's a bit far out of my reach but I'm willing to give it a shot if I can get a decent start. I realize it won't just happen overnight, I have the patience to keep learning and doing research to figure it out, but I would like help getting started.
@samuel2706: I have a Droid x2 and as you it has a locked bootloader. I also have a Galaxy Tab 7" which does NOT have a locked bootloader. I've been in Android for a very very long time, I am an experience flasher and rooter, but I want to get into the development side.
Could you direct me to what I need to read up on and learn about and do for me to become a developer? I would like to develop from my devices, I know that a locked bootloader steeply limits what I can do, that's why I am more interested in developing for my tablet. I mean a lot of things interest me. I look at my logcat on my devices, I see errors, and I just want to go in and fix them, I want to make my device smooth as butter, lol.
I'm also interested in finding an exploit of some sort for my Droid x2 so that I can crack it. There has gotta be a way to crack it open.
Thanks!!!
Stock rooted Gingerbread for HTC Inspire
Hey Samuel. Thanks for doing this. I got my Inspire about a weeks ago, rooted it the day I got it, and have been lurking these forums since. Saw this opportunity to ask a n00b question, and registered. So, I'm looking for a stock, rooted Gingerbread ROM. It was suggested I don't return my phone to stock, update, and then re-root. Not sure why, but I'll listen. Thanks in advance, and thanks for doing this.

Continuing Glide Development

OK Guys, I think we should start a checklist of things that we need and would like for further development, and see what we can do to make those things happen. Obviously, root is the first step, but we need a few more things before custom ROMs can be produced and flashed. here is my list so far:
*Kernel with CWM recovery enabled. I will contact ATT Galaxy S 2 Kernel developers about this, and see if they can shed any light on this. CWM is the method of choice for flashing custom ROMs and kernels
*Mobile Odin Support. This will allow us to flash kernels without tripping the flash counter. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
*Begin CM7 (or 9?) porting to this device. We will also need to find developers willing to work on this device, for this and other ROMs.
*Check compatibility of the Ultimate Online Theming Kitchen with our device. This is an awesome tool that would let us cook fairly in-depth and customized themes for our phones, for free, incredibly easily.
*Obviously, we need to find devs willing to create custom ROMs for this device. I am willing to help, but do not have much experience with this kind of thing.
Also, since I dont have the device yet, I would like someone to test out TouchWiz 4.5, a custom-developed version of TouchWiz that I believe is superior to Samsung's original. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883

i got a glide that ive rooted (at&t) but im still not overclocked so idk if i should but id like to see if that superior verison of TouchWiz is worthy.. please let me know how i can help or how i can be helped with this overclocking kernel =D
Agreed, we need all of the things. I don't have the device, my fiance does, but she'll let me hack away at it I was going to try doing some modifications on the ROM in the "Rooting" thread, but have hit brick walls trying to unpack the factoryfs.img on my Windows machine, going to try unpacking it in Linux later this week, I'll keep everyone posted with my progress!
Has anyone tried contacting a group like Teamhacksung to get their interest in a custom ICS port or other support?
I can contact Team Hacksung, but they would obviously need a device to test on. I contacted Pershoot, a kernel developer who has worked with Samsung Tegra 2 devices before, about adding CWM to a kernel. He said it should be pretty easy, and gave me a layout for what to do, but I will need the help of a kernel developer, either lambogx2 (sp)
or ardatdat, since I am by no means a developer or themer.
As far as TW 4.5, you should just be able to download the .apk from the link. I use Astro, and just click on the file and it asks if I want to download the app, then click yes.
Another vote for CWM
I, too, would kill for a CWM just so I can easily backup the current rom, then remove all the bloatware (I like keeping the original ROM before I clean it up).
Additionally, I would like to learn how to compile kernels and create custom roms (if for nothing else to get rid of the ugly ROGERS logo upon boot; other than applications and this boot screen, the phone looks sharp unlike AT&T, T-mobile, and Sprint and others whom plaster there logo all over the phone's physical presence). I do not know where to start.
I dont have a glide but i am willing to help. I need ANYONE that is rooted to install and run a screenshot app and a terminal emulator app. then type " mount " (no quotes) into the terminal take a screen shot of the printout
this will tell the mount points and if any other cwms can be made to work with update.zip method.

Is there a specific screenshot app you can recommend? Also, if attach the screenshot, say to a post, will it be readable for you? I looked at Lagunacid and hard time reading (sorry Lagunacid)

Also guys, boot animation is pretty easy to change (I dont know if you wanted to change that or the splash screen). Just find one that you would like in 800x480 res., make sure it is named bootanimation.zip, go into root explorer. find system>media and put the new file in there, overwrite the old one. Set the permissions to rw-r-r, and reboot to make sure it works. I can also tell you how to make your own, but thats more complicated, but doesnt take any 'coding' or 'developing' skills, just MS Paint and a text editor.
Still working on the CWM kernel, I'll let you know if much progress is made.

I would love to get rid of the ROGERS splash screen but if I understand correctly, that has something to do with the kernel or bootloader?

My phone is rooted and using ES File Explorer (with Show Hidden Files checked) but there is no /.lfs directory under /mnt directory.
On shutdown, it has an ugly red ROGERS animation as seen in /system/media/video/shutdown/shutdown.qmg which you can rename or replace to change this.
On startup, after the white ROGERS logo screen (which after reading some other sites, this is part of the kernel or bootloader), there is an animated Galaxy S animation that I suspect is the bootsamsung.qmg which you can rename or replace to change this which is located in the /system/media directory.
After which, before going to the lock screen (over the desktop and icons)
you are correct on the startup and shutdown .qmg files.. you can replace from an unbranded phone.... the qmg .zip files i uploaded are the S logo so i guess the start up is unbranded...
here is an unbranded shutdown .qmg
the startup logo IMAGE may be only in the kernel.
on the original captivate there is actually 2 one is a file in /mnt/.lfs POINTED to by the bootloader... different bootloaders point to different filename...
the second image is built into the kernel.
BUT the 2 images on stock are the same, so it is not noticed.

I move to Calgary (from Seattle) in 2 weeks; I see you are one of the developers. I would like to learn how to make custom ROMS and kernels so I hope I can leech information from you.
Thanks for the qmg files!
Kyuta Syuko - would probably be willing to help you with kernel learning. He recently started making captivate kernels. but be warned you need a very good understanding of linux and compiling knowlege.
Romming is easy with any system, drag and drop files mostly. there are many guides to find all over xda.
One touch dialing!
I agree, we need a checklist for this device, I'd like to see a minor change in the stock dialer app. on other versions of gingerbread and froyo I have always seen a phone icon next to the contact and the ability to have one touch dialing with the favorites. this this phone, that's not there! there's a few "touch here, touch there, then dial" to call someone! you might call me lazy, but I liked that feature.
I have tried other dialer apps from the market, but non seem to have this in the options. they all seem to use the stock dialer somewhere in making the calls.

CM10 on Rogers i747M?

Hello,
I know a CM10 beta was released for the AT&T GS III but I have a Rogers GS III which is a i747M just like the AT&T one. Is it possible to install the CM10 beta on my phone? If so, will I need to install a different version of CWM on my phone?
I used this guide to root my phone and put CWM on it: http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/how-to-root-att-galaxy-s3-sgh-i747/
Yes it will work fine on your Rogers phone. Rogers and at&t are the same phone.

I installed CM9 on my Rogers S3 yesterday, so I doubt CM10 won't work.
Apparently there's no LTE for Rogers on CM10 yet (I couldn't get it to work on CM9 either) and the WiFi issue is unresolvable yet because you can't access the service mode menu so I switched back, sadly.
I'm on Rogers too, but I've been a little hesitant to flash to CM10 just yet. It appears there's a problem with LTE functionality -- no way to enable/force it on, currently.
So do I have to flash a special version of clockwork recovery? If so, which?

CWM 5.8.4.7 worked for me. I found that CM10 really drained the battery quickly plus no LTE support as mentioned so I switched back.
Status 7
I'm using a Rogers S3 I747M and I keep getting Status 7 messages with CM10, MIUI etc
I'm able to flash most of the other ROMs without any problems...(as long as they specify I747M , Rogers , Bell etc )
I'm currently running the JellyBean milestone 3 leak (and LTE works fine). The only problem I have is with the T-Mobile hotspot app (it won't allow me to enable HotSpot for some reason...)

Which recovery are you using? I found that I tried using 5.x.x.x CWM (sorry i cant remember) and it gave me that error, so i used another 5.x.x.x a newer later # and that flashed it...but gave me a boot loop!! fed up, i then used restored and flashed TWRP recovery, that worked like a charm!

The latest builds of CM10 won't flash properly with CWM 5; you need CWM 6 for that.

Speak for yourself. All builds of CM10 and AOKP flash perfectly fine with 5.8.4.7 CWM here.

yes, the AT&T CM10 nightly builds should be compatible with all i747, it works with my telus one.
And as for which CWM, just instsall the most updated one, 6.0.1.2, as some of the older versions of CWM wont work properly with newer ROMS such as CM10
So with the recent "stable" release. Us Rogers users should be able flash and go no other problems? excuse my ignorance i'm a bit new at this...

Hey I'm the OP and I can clarify the developments since I made this thread.
What you need to know:
1) The Rogers Galaxy SIII model number is "SAMSUNG-SGS-I747". You can check this by going on your phone to Settings -> About Phone -> Model number. Commonly, it is just called the I747 variant.
In the US, the version for the AT&T carrier is also the exact same phone (same hardware), ie it is also the i747.
Because the US phone market is more popular (I guess) our device (the i747) is usually referred to as the "AT&T variant".
2) This mean that any ROM developments/tutorials/guides that work for the AT&T phone will work for your phone. Actually, the i747 variant of the Galaxy SIII is also used for Bell and Telus (as listed in the name of this subforum).
Another thing is that manufacturers give different hardware revisions different names to be used internally (I believe). The i747 name is "d2att" so this is just another synonym for your phone.
3) Knowing all this, you just need to find a ROM built for your device (d2att). There are plenty in the "Original Android Development" section of this subforum.
I would recommend trying Cyanogenmod Nightly until you become accustomed to flashing, ROMs, etc.
If you were to go on cyanogenmod's download site (http://get.cm/) on the left you will see a list of all supported devices. If you hover over "d2att" you'll see it reveals it's common name, the AT&T GS III. There you can download nightlies, which means that every day a new version with new changes to this ROM have been made available for download.
4) To actually install a rom, I would reccomend looking for a quick intro guide to flashing. First thing you'll have to do though is flash custom recovery on your phone. Basically, you want to put Clockwork Recovery Mod on your phone so you can easily install ROMs on your phone.
If you haven't already, you'll have to root and install clockwork. Find a guide to do it (if you have trouble let me know or start a thread).
If you have any other questions just PM me and I can help you since I have the same phone as you.

error when flashing ROM downloaded from ROM Manager
Just a heads up, as this may affect other Rogers users.
After downloading any cyanogenmod 10 nightly using ROM Manager Premium, I was getting an error when attempting to flash the ROM.
For some as of yet unknown reason, even though the recovery was configured for the d2att model, it was downloading the ROM for the d2mtr model. I have brought this to the attention of @Clockworkmod on Twitter, and provided logs and build.prop, but the underlying cause is still unknown.
The device was correctly identified as a "d2att" within the build.prop, and the correct recovery was selected and applied from within ROM Manger. I also attempted manually flashing both the standard and touch recoveries, with no difference in behaviour. Same after a full wipe of ROM Manager data & a re-installation.
The solution was to manually flash the d2att CloclworkMod recovery from the ROM Manger site, and then manually specifying the recovery as follows:
Menu --> Manual Flash Override --> ClockworkMod 5.X.X.X+
Reboot and ROMs now download as required.

Mac Users, Rejoice!

Like many Mac users, I have been struggling with the fact that Android File Transfer (AFT) suddenly stopped working when Mountain Lion was released. I do not like Kies for Mac (or Kies in general, really), and missed the simplicity that AFT has in getting stuff to and from my device, both internal and external storage wise. My life was a shambles. I cried myself to sleep most nights.
But no more.
A recent development has allowed AFT to work for us once again! Huzzah!
First, download the Kies installer from here. Do NOT install. Rather, run the UNINSTALL app that appears. This will ensure that any remnants of Mac Kies, which interferes with AFT, is removed.
Then grab the latest version of AFT from here.
Put away tissues. Get good night's sleep.
***UPDATED***
The Kies uninstaller can now be found at the Samsung website within the Kies install package. Changed link to point directly to it.

I recommend everyone to perform a Google search for "kies" and go to their official website to download the latest version because this version can be outdated and incompatible with later versions of Mac OS. And also, not that I don't trust the OP but how do I know his file has not been compromised by mal ware? No offense. Just saying. Trying to be safe here.
Or the OP can just link to the official kies website like he did with AFT.

LOL. Do what now? So, you come along 3 months after this helpful post has been accessed by a number of people, from a reputable 6-year member of XDA, and question the help that is given? That's pretty funny, my man. I am glad I could help you too. Here is some more help...if you are going to attempt to bite the hand that feeds you, at least do some research on your own first. Had you done that, you would have discovered that Samsung does not distribute the uninstaller anymore (and hasn't for a while) for Kies, and I (after doing my own research) managed to find it, test it, and host it on my OWN website, for grateful people like yourself.
So, welcome to XDA, new guy. Let's try to be a little more gracious.

I can confirm that the proper uninstaller is now being distributed by Samsung, and I have changed the link in the OP to reflect that. Thanks for the link, TheWalkingDead.
Your forum etiquette could use some work, holmes. I made the OP 3 months ago, and the Kies version I posted was the only one with an uninstaller that was proven to work at that time. If there is an updated one now from Samsung, great, I have no issues pointing to that one. Coming in here and claiming I could be distributing malware is...reckless, to say the least.
It appears we are good now, updated OP and with a clean link. Thank You.
Awesome! I'll finally be able to use my Mac for most of this stuff now instead of having to switch computers.

[SIZE=+1]Q10: How do I use the Sideload function?[/SIZE]
Install a recovery that has sideload functionality.Choose Sideload in recovery. Update the Android SDK to the newest version. Use the command " ADB Sideload (path to where the .zip you want to install is).
[SIZE=+1]Q11: How do I get to the Developer options to enable Debug mode?[/SIZE]
On your handset, click on menu>settings> General Tab > about device. Then scroll down to Build Number and keep tapping. It will give you messages like "5 more steps until you are a developer" Then it will open the developer option. Back out and click developer options and then USB Debugging.
[SIZE=+1]Q12: I'm having a problem rooting with Odin. What is the easiest way?[/SIZE]
If you are having issues, try updating your version of ODIN and also downloading the .tar file from an alternate source".
[SIZE=+1]Q13: What is a "logcat" and how do I create one? [/SIZE]
For setting up ADB see What is ADB (above) logcat allows us to log what the OS is doing, and possibly offer information if things are not working. its quite simple to create but may be difficult for most to understand. This is a tool a Developer may ask for in detecting issues your device may be encountering.
To use logcat
Code:
adb shell
logcat
To logcat to a certain file do
Code:
adb shell
logcat -d > /sdcard/whatevertexfileyoulike.txt
For a full explanation follow the link in What is ADB
[SIZE=+1]Q14: What is KNOX, and how does it affect me?[/SIZE]

[SIZE=+1]Q15: I have gps issues. Why can't I lock onto GPS?[/SIZE]
Some roms have "time" issues with getting a gps lock. This is a known issue with all custom Roms.
[SIZE=+1]Q16: How do I get the best out of my Rom?[/SIZE]
Depending on what Rom you choose. Once you go to the "THEME" sections there are many more mods for your selected rom. Always try different Roms to fit your liking.
[SIZE=+1]Q17: Titanium Backup ask if I would like to restore my original ID Code after I flash roms, what should I do.?[/SIZE]
Do to the mass amount of custom roms, some internel phone setting get changed by default. You should always restore ID codes and native handset information when possible.
[SIZE=+1]Q18: How loud is too loud?[/SIZE]
That realistically is up to you. Rule of thumb, if your sounds is distorted, even the least bit, then lower the settings. Distortion is a warning sign, and prolonged use can damage your hardware.
[SIZE=+1]Q19: I have about 4gb of data missing from internal storage I cannot find. Where is it?[/SIZE]
Recovery uses a large amount of data for backups. TWRP saves by default, backups to the /sdcard/twrp or /sdcard/0/twrp directory. Make sure you delete old or unused backups.
[SIZE=+1]Q20: I need to return my rooted phone for a replacement. Does returning to stock work?[/SIZE]
Yes. Follow the instructions on the forum for unrooting and flash the Odin stock file. If you flash an earlier version, make sure to accept updates to get your phone back to factory. Knox 0x1 will affect rather your warranty will be honored
[SIZE=+1]Q21: What is so different about the Galaxy Note 3 that should get me to upgrade from the Note 2?[/SIZE]
Other then the hardware and screen upgrades, you can read the the 45+ Ultra-Advanced Features of the Note 3 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441935 Thread by Ipsuvedi
[SIZE=+1]Q22: While restoring using Titanium Backup, I get constant FC's. How do I fix this?[/SIZE]
The TB Team is working on a fix for the SELinux links in the new system. For the time being, everytime you restore apps using TB you will need to run TB Restore Fixer found here

Might be worth adding in some info on the initial recovery issues with restores, resolutions if you suffered them, and versions that no longer have those issues (or at least not to the same extent)
Nice FAQ.
I knew the answer to every question but one, so hey, I learned something. Namely, I had no idea that the "flash_image" util was so prevalent. I assumed it was a touchwiz-only thing, but I just checked and it's also present on my CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM as well. Doing a "flash_image recovery /sdcard/twrp_foo.img" is certainly easier than having to remember the correct partition to manually 'dd' to (though still not as easy as just using GooManager).
One other Q for the FAQ:
Q: Is it too big?
A: No.
Does it perfectly work with AT&T's network? (including LTE)
Yes!

It's the annoying space-wasting notification that TouchWhiz shows when you have NFC enabled. Stock Android doesn't do that.
