so fast and smooth.
Tested on Viper Rom , shoud work on any ICS based sense roms (althought currently NOT working with leaked ICS rom)
----------***^^^***------------------
Found a work-around for using this or brymasters kernel on the leaked ICS ROM
1. Make a backup of viper ROM
2. Using 4ext recovery install leaked ROM
3. In recovery under advanced restore choose boot / restore from backup / [your viper backup]
4. Wipe cache & dalvik , flash brys or my kernel
5. Profit
This was a labor of love for me , this is a "final" build for this kernel , i will still add to it , but mostly it will be all on the build side of things so updates will be less frequent
GPL: https://github.com/bsmitty83
All proper credit goes to @brymaster5000 for actually getting a kernel to build , not an easy thing, id still be trying if he didn't . @poondog , our vivo brother who's git I used for alot of the optimizations

Thanks dude. The beauty of open source. The more people that get into this - the better off everyone is.:highfive: I should get back to building later today.

I tried for a while to get the source to compile before you got it and i just want to see what i can do from a bone stock kernel i guess feel free to use whatever ,ill try to keep the git updated if i do any changes i need my inc2 back dammit lol
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2

I flashed it on both viper and ictazz and i cant get any higher clock speeds than stock, you sure the perf-lock was removed?

Yea I'm sure ,(Sh*t) gonna have to take a looksie when i get home thx for testing tho i didn't even know it booted lol
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2

hey you're awesome for even working on this kernel, we need more people like you and bry

Lol i need my phone back to test , i think i made a small boo boo in the config file but i don't have my damn laptop ATM ill probably be able to work something up later tonight but it'll be a blind upload since I'm vivow -less for now
Edit
Got my inc2 back gonna flash me some viper then get to work

So after yet another sleepless night , about 15 no go builds , I'm giving it one last shot for the night . think im headed in the right direction on the overclocking tho

If you upload to git, I will clone your repository and work on the governers as well. I think they didn't stick before because I didn't choose in menuconfig to make them a module (not sure if that's why as the oc thing was also giving me errors).
Nice job with the OC...what did you do in addition to changing the frequency tables?

I uploaded to git a little bit ago , did it in a hurry and branched the commit , so if u clone it keep the branch "OnEsHoT" and delete the rest .their doubles .
All i did was add the over clock option in /acpuclock7x30.c and include it in the kconfig file , no need to change the freq tables since they go to 1.5 GHz , anything higher you'd have to .
Also i edited the op to include a link to the boot image since i cant seem to get it to flash in a zip , must be in one of the modules since WiFi is broke on this kernel . So i still got some work todo gonna clean up my git , and my laptop lol , i just baffeled right now by the no .zip flash
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2

I know all my stuff is crazy disorganized but bear with me , im gonna be pulling all kinds of good commits that I've found that hopefully will smooth out all the modules . the modules are my next focus area , BT toggles on and i can pair my gnex to viper , but no way to test if it actually works beyond . not sure about data either , my inc2 isnt activated
Camera works . camcorder shoots 720p

No

Are you zipping the meta inf, system, and zimage together?
You could always fork my repository and add the oc to that. It is the base build and WiFi, etc. works.
Sent from my IC Dinc2.

Yea the first kernels i put together with the oc not working flashed fine , your updater script you were using didn't like twrp on my inc2 so i flashed cwm and yours woked fine, but no go on my kernel packages . idk maybe I'm missing something . zimage goes to kernel kitchen , used your boot IMG and split the kernel , used your ramdisk with my zimage , back to a boot.IMG , archive it with meta data and my modules, looking at some commits in the msm70x30 3.0 repos suggests its all the modules and if the boot.IMG works its gotta be in the addons , so I'm gonna start there . i can say that extra bump in freq makes a huge difference with viper ROM , even with animations at 1x .
If you can get it to flash as a zip that would be sweet , i also copied the boot.IMG into /arch/arm/boot/ in my repo just so i never lost it , cuz i almost trashed that source thinking it wouldnt boot but i was fast booting from the wrong dir :banghead: that was a fun hour lol
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2

Whats more puzzling is i used your source as mine , edited only a couple files , all the modules built fine so its gotta be something with the way I'm packing the zimage in kernel kitchen , might stop being lazy and do it manually because i really think that's my problem . i just was running out of time and wanted to get a flash able zip out , but I'm sure someone will figure it out if i cant right now
Edit think i know the problem but i gotta be at my PC to test so hopefully ill straighten all this crap out , but its definitely in the repack

Yea if you dont need WiFi flash away , its got on demand , user space , and performance for governers , i was using on demand , but good governers would help smooth the frequency scaling .
By no means is it a daily driver yet , but AFAIK its stable .

Download koush's anykernel. You will find an xda thread with a zip to download. Unzip it, put your modules in the system/lib, put your zimage in the same location as meta inf and system. Right click, and zip them up...easy peasy.

[KERNEL][8th-Dec] YA-OK! Yet-another Optimised Kernel (v1.50 Update)

Yes, this is yet another (shameless) attempt to optimise the kernel for our Galaxy-S (i9000) by taking tweaks implemented by various xda developers. The aim at this moment is to 'integrate' all the desirable tweaks, since I'm still grasping the ins and outs of Linux kernel to experiment some of the possible tweaks myself.
Not sure how far I would bring this thread forward, because I will be working on a project (my day job) very soon again, so I'm going to enjoy/do while I can.
Key Implementation
based on JPM kernel
sztupy's Universal Lag Fix (v0.3)
hardcore's Free Memory config (341MB)
raspdeep's Overclock (v1.1)
hardcore's SpeedMod (Tweaks + Compiler Optimisation) with Jhash update
supercurio Voodoo Display tweak (Gamma Correction and Improve Sharpness)
neldar's Backlight Notification (BLN, v2.2, enabled via ULF in recovery mode)
Budget Fair Queuing (BFQ) I/O Scheduler
I also made some minor modification to other codes to experiment the overclock enhancement. It's in this build but may not have any effect.
Please refer to this link for the latest download
See this video of my Galaxy S running on Ya-OK kernel. Video playback, internet browsing, gaming, UI navigation.
attached is the screenshot of quadrant, on a JPM-based ROM with EXT4 on all partition.

DOWNLOAD HISTORY
v1.50 (build 38) - 8th December
Updated Overclock to 1.12GHz
Updated Kernel Scheduler parameter (sched_min_granularity_ns & sched_wakeup_granularity_ns) to give more priority to foreground application, therefore improving the fluidity of the UI experience. From brief research, these are the key parameters used to tune kernel between a server (therefore higher values) and a desktop.
CWM version available here
v1.45 (build 35) - 5th December
Fixed stability issue in v1.40 by reverting to the voltage profile used in v1.2b.
v1.40 (build 34) - 28th November
Added BFQ (Budget Fair Queuing) I/O Scheduler and set BFQ as the default I/O Scheduler. The aim is to boost I/O throughput, reduce the latency. Please refer to this site for more information
v1.31 (build 31) - 24th November
Bug fix on /system mount to prevent filesystem corruption in /system
Does not include fix, please refer to supercurio's thread on how to correct the corrupted filesystem if you are encountering problem with your device.
v1.3 (build 30) - 20th November
Refined voltage level for cpu frequency 100/200 MHz. Effectively, reduce 75mV for 100/200, and 25mV for 400/800 (same as 1.2b). Again not user configurable for now, though I may implement it if people are finding the UV feature is causing unstability.
Upgraded Backlight Notification (BLN) to v2.2 (Please test and feedback)
Minor optimisation on kernel configuration (PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY, UACCESS_WITH_MEMCPY)
v1.2b - 2nd November (2585 downloads)
Refined voltage level for cpu frequency 100/200 MHz. Effectively, reduce 50mV for 100/200, and 25mV for 400/800. Again not user configurable for now, and once raspdeep released his UV code I may implement it if people are finding the UV feature is causing unstability.
v1.2a - 31st October (668 downloads)
Implemented lower voltage for cpu frequency 100/200/400/800MHz.
Note: Not user configurable
v1.1 - 30th October (1168 downloads)
Implemented Voodoo Display Sharpness & Color Gamma
v1.0 - 29th October (759 downloads)
Implemented Universal Lagfix, Overclock, Memory optimization, etc
Additional minior OC tweaks.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does it have a recovery of some sort built in then. Maybe CWR..
Universal Lagfix Kernel (ULK) comes with Clockworkmod so yes it has the recovery function!
Does this works on my XXX ROM?
This kernel is compiled based on the available Froyo JPM source, so it'll definitely work on JPM-based ROM (custom or stock). For the rest of Froyo ROM, it has been reported that YA-OK is compatible with the following Froyo-based firmwares; JP6, JPO, JPP, JPD, JPA (all the above are based off Android 2.2 kernel) JPU ROM is however not supported at this moment. (See next FAQ point for more information)
Does this work on JPU-based ROM? When will you support it and/or Why does XXX kernel support JPU and not yours?
JPU-based ROM is apparently based on Android 2.2.1 firmware. Since the YA-OK kernel is based on version 2.2.0 kernel, there is a high chance YA-OK will not work well with JPU-based ROM. I have not tried personally myself but from what has been reported by other users, this does not work. Only when Samsung release the source code for JPU will YA-OK be able to support JPU (and later) ROM. As to why other kernel developers has already started releasing kernel to supporting JPU-based ROM, they are merely injecting lagfix and tweaks into the kernel through initramfs, instead of the tweaks that require source code modification (e.g. Overclocking, Undervolt, Display Fix, Kernel optimization through compiler optimization).
Please refer to supercurio post for more information
I installed this kernel on a JPO-based ROM. But it seems that there are no changes, reported RAM is 341 mb but Quadrant is about 1000.
You need to enable lagfix yourself by going to recovery mode, and select ULK option for all the possible choices of lagfix.
If I install this kernel on my rom, is it still necessary for me to install "voodoo"?
All the tweak and optimisation features mentioned in this thread are implemented within the kernel, so flashing or updating another kernel will lose whatever features found in YAOK kernel unless the said feature is also implemented in the other kernel. In the case of lagfix, it is important that if you flash another kernel over YAOK (for whatever reason), you need to be sure that kernel supports the relevant lagfix feature otherwise your phone may not boot.
I face alot of FC (Force close) with your kernel, what's wrong?
One of the common cause for the "FC" problem, particularly with custom kernel, is that you has chosen to enable the BIND option in the Lagfix setting. You should turn that off, and observe further if the FC issue stil persists.
How do I install this kernel?
First of all, make sure you have a compatible Froyo firmware (refer to above for a list of compatible firmware)
To install this kernel, download and unzip the zip file. Flash the .tar file using Odin, without selecting re-partition and you can omit the PIT setting.
After updating v1.31 (build 31), my Galaxy gets stuck at the bootscreen. What happens?
This is a sign of corrupted file system on the /system partition. Try this one time fix procedure
flash back v1.30 build 30
boot to recovery, do a backup
flash v1.31 build 31
boot to recovery, do a advance restore on /system
still at recovery, go to CWM and wipe davik cache
reboot your device (you may have to wait a few minutes for the system to rebuild the davik cache)
I was playing/running XXX game/application, the screen freezes halfway, what gives?
From experience, some applications (game or graphic intensive application such as video playback application) may not handle overclock feature very well, especially if the application rely solely on CPU (the main processor for computing process needs other than graphics), instead of GPU (the processor dedicated for graphic processing needs), to render graphics. In particular, Rock player seems to have problem handling video playback via software mode (instead of hardware), for HD video. This is understandable given that constant overclocking is usually undesirable. Remember our device can do dynamic CPU frequency scaling, which means it will never always run at overclocked frequency unless you manually set it to be.
Some games such as Asphalt were reported to freeze the device but from my observation, it is very rare it happens and I would usually would not bother about that. If it really bothers you, just set the CPU scaling threshold to 1GHz (instead of 1.12GHz or 1.2Ghz) via SetCPU app. Personally I won't bother and I think you should do the same. Afterall, it is probably a bad app out of many apps installed that is causing the problem, so why cripped your phone permanently for that?
Great to see these projects coming from fellow Singaporeans

Does this use latest hardcore´s changes?
Otherwise - great stuff, all-in-one, thank you!
BTW quadrant benchmark is only a number, but with jfs overkill is my score about 2200...
Which version of hardcore's kernel mod does it include? Is it possible that You add 1000hz version? By the way great work!

Quadrant is still useful when you look at the score for each component. It is meaningless when you look at overall score of a lag fix device esply with oclf.

Do I need to disable Lagfix before install this Kernel ? Can i Install it within CMW ?
thx
is it real voodoo.. or do you mean the voodoo option inside the lagfix? becasue that just "voodoo style" lagfix
So I tried this kernel. Asphalt5 - played one level OK, Dungeon Hunter - after 1min or so, hangs

Same problem as my own compiles. Display is all yellow.
What compiler do you use? I'm thinking this may be a compiler problem since g1011999 said the source worked with minimal modifications.
*The changed boot logo was fine by the way.

i have used the 4.4.1 arm-2010q1 toolchain... as the stock kernel seems to be compiled using the same...
btw if adb works can u please check if the acpu freq table is updated with OCed CPU freq? (the sysfs interface)[available frequencies]
btw i noticed that crc7.ko and pcbc.ko are also compiled during build process... do we need to insmod these?

Uhm...I'll pass on the checking part. I'm reaaaaaally uncomfortable with any overclock so I just looked at whether the display on your kernel was fine or not and rebooted immediately.

have u tried compiling with those? is the display problem there too?

Just kidding. What are the advantages of this kernel over the usual tiamat? I am curious.
Good to see some new different options in kernels. I will give this a try
I don't get why people who aren't the dev reserve their spot in the threads. Sometimes even before the dev gets a chance. What is the point? Does it make your e-peen grow an inch? Serious question...
EDIT: I see this is all dev threads not just ones with their team. I will flash it right after the AOKP rom is updated. It is nice that tiamat is providing us an updated kernel we can tweak for our devices. Especially since all the kernel devs have moved on.

The patch I've implemented applies tweaks to the governor parms if smartassv2 is used also I modified the kernel sampling_rate by lowering the default 500000 which was way too high when using lagfree, by making those and other tweks and after a lot of testing it improved performance and better battery life than using either the stock kernal or the ics kernal alone.
So in other words better life in battery and performance for example if your a gamer or use apps alot play certain games then flash the MOD and you will see a BIG difference in performance and u will see no lag. This MOD before release was put thru HEAVY hell by my testers and got 15+ hours of battery life.

Yes it works.
This Kernel works great with blackwing182's IceColdInsomnia ROM! Before the battery would drain significantly if I used data, however with this ROM I'm still at 100% after checking the play store, chrome browser, and other things.
Sorry I'm late to the party. I go to bed early like an old man. I ran the hell out of this kernel yesterday. Lots of overclocking and screen use. I was impressed with how long it ran. Lagfree at 1209 max is a beast. Try it.
im giving it a go now, will report tonight how it goes today
Immediate reboots on my phone. Worked successfully after turning oc below 1200 prior to flashing, only to immediately reboot when turned above 1200 after an hour of successful use @1200. Too bad I like to oc to about 1600 always on mt4g. Any other tips?

The problem here is not the governor, problem here is that some phones doesent like high frequencys , no one can do anithing about it ( atleast that you undervolt that frequency but is a pain in the ass ). that would happen to me compiling kernels for the cliq xt about a year ago. the best thing you can try is making 2 versions of the same kernel, one normal and one undervolted.
dont use apps to undervolt or the kernel is going to fail, undervolt the kernel

[ROM-JB][Aroma] CvD-Nibbles 1.6 ~ Custom Kernel ~ GAPPS (1-19-13)

Base: CM10 JellyBean - Nightly
Kernel: Nibbles v0.1.5 (hercules port)
Installer: Aroma
Source Sync & Build Date: 1.18.13
Release Date: 1.19.13
Release Version: v1.6
IntroductionBack with ANOTHER port! Guys, make sure that before you even proceed with reading, you go HERE and hit that thanks button for car vs driver! FeaturesPacked full of yummy goodness, stability and speed, this ROM is intended to be a daily driver. This is not a test, experiment or buggy piece of nonsense. I started with CM10 Jellybean-Stable and added numerous enhancements to improve speed, stability and battery life. Installation is a breeze with Aroma, choose which options and applications you want to have - or run it again to install any apps you may have missed (without having to reflash the ROM).
Please read the first three posts completely, then read them again before you flash this for the first time. Any notable bugs are located in the post below. If you experience any issues that have not been reported already, please post to the thread. Thanks!

Installation Made Easy:Just download the zip and flash it. The Aroma installer will guide you through a multitude of options, including different launchers, application choices and system options. If you prefer a no fuss installation, there's even an option for a pre-configured base installation. Lastly, if you decide to install any apps you previously chose not to, simply flash the zip and choose the application installer option.

Nibbles Kernel:Ported by ayysir to the Hercules, please give him thanks HERE
The Nibbles kernel includes a LOT of new features that cater to all users who want to get the most out of their device. I've included many popular CPU Governors and I/O schedulers to support a wide variety of uses. Additionally, I've made lots of other fundamental changes to the kernel to better balance battery and performance (well beyond what you can do with a handful of scripts) as well as implementing over clocking the CPU to 1.782GHz, Under/Over Volting the CPU at each frequency step and over clocking the GPU.
CPU Governors: intellidemand, pegasusq, gallimaurfy, interactivex, smartassv2, wheatley, interactive, conservative, userspace, ondemand, performance
I/O Schedulers: noop, deadline, cfq, sio, vr, bfq
Right now, we only have the Stock GPU Speed version available!

Disclaimer: This rom will not prevent a zombie apacalypse. It may however, aid you in the event of an apacalypse by providing stability, battery and smooth cellular operation. By flashing this, your phone should still work ... and as an added bonus, it'll likely work better than your stock rom. If your phone bricks, build a house. By flashing this rom, you agree to have your phone powered by beer and tiny nibbles.

Known Bugs:
Bluetooth may crash the first time you open it. Just relaunch and it should be fine. I don't have a means to test bluetooth, if someone wants to offer up a fix, PM me or CvD.
Things of note:
Double check your APN settings after flashing to make sure you're on LTE and it's all correct.
First boot will be slow, have patience. It may take a couple minutes. Subsequent reboots should fly.
If you set your CPU to 196MHz, you will notice some lag when waking up the phone. This is particularly true if you have a live wallpaper.
After first boot, hit the volume rocker to wake up the sound. (This should no longer be an issue)
Changelog InformationThis is obviously where the changelog is This will be set up a bit differently from CvD's or any other one. The changes under the BLUE text are what I, ..Cory.., changed. The changes under the RED text are what CvD changed. My changes will only be ones to improve stability for our phones and I try to make sure all work by CvD is untouched to bring you the full experience he intended to bring!

another new kernel joins the development for our beloved Xperia M (YEY)
so i havent really done anymore serious kernel developments in a long time, last was galaxy y where i had help with a lot of great devs, tried with mediatek chips but gave up, now i got an xperia M for the new year and i compiled my own kernel to satisfy what i want from my phone and then i just decided to share it in case you guys might wanna give it a try too
WHATS IN IT
Code:
compiled from 15.1.C.2.9 kernel sources
patched to [COLOR="Blue"]3.4.4[/COLOR] kernel
[STRIKE]linaro GCC 4.6.2 toolchain[/STRIKE][COLOR="Blue"]Now compiled with Linaro 4.7.4 toolchain[/COLOR]
compiled with O2 optimizations
CPU OC to 1.2ghz (has a weird issue though of capping max freq back to 972mhz sometimes especially when running a benchmark, still looking to solve it)
GPU OC to 450mhz (badass constant 25fps on antutu 3d gpu benchmark was the highest i ever achieved)

WIFI is broken
OTHER ISSUES MIGHT EXIST, I JUST DONT KNOW AS I REVERTED BACK TO 3.4.4,
FEEL FREE TO GIVE IT A TRY THOUGH
BUGS
Code:
[STRIKE]ROW IOSCHED is still buggy right now, causes an unresponsive system for a duration of time or SOD's the phone when it is sleeping, better now in 2.5 than before but still buggy[/STRIKE] [COLOR="Red"]FIXED[/COLOR]
Code:
PEGASUSQ GOVERNOR, was built with a section mismatch, using it as default governor via kernel config will freeze and reboot system on boot, using other governors as default and setting pegasusq using 3rd party apps works fine though as a workaround for now

how to features???
zram
USE ANY TERMINAL EMULATOR OF YOUR CHOICE
1)need to be root 1st so use this command
Code:
su
2) create zram size
initialize /dev/zram0 with 96mb disksize with this command
Code:
echo 10066329 > /sys/block/zram0/disksize
note: Disksize cannot be changed if the disk contains any
data. deactivate first before you can change its disksize.
use this formula for calculating the disksize you want
( ill use my 96mb as an example)
Code:
96mb= 96×1024×1024)
3) activate:
Code:
mkswap /dev/block/zram0
swapon /dev/block/zram0
4) stats: To check if you have swap enabled
Code:

This is the most badass kernel I've ever used!
Good work dude.
Great to see you here.
Well, as you said about the max freq to get limited up to 972mhz, that happened to me even when I was using elixer 2.0 kernel. However on the first try with max freq 1566Mhz, I got 12000+ points but later, the problem started.......I was wondering if it was due to the app itself (antutu benchmark) because while using quadrant, it gave me a score of 5700+ points, and the max freq was 1566mhz......well, what do you think @thirdzcee?

I think your on the latest firmware, am I correct??? And I think that the capping only happens on New firmware... Though I could be wrong, I havent dug deeper any more on it

Oh anfd to add I think yout antutu is a little wrong for 1.5ghz, I can get 13k+ on 1.2 ghz with my kernel, ive seen the ss of antutu with 1.5 and it reaches 15k on antutu

Damn! 15k+?! That's awesome! But idk, I'm using the latest firmware and I've got antutu benchmark 3.0.3, where I got 12k with 1.5ghz and 10k for 972mhz. On the other hand, I got 13k on antutu 4.x with 1.5ghz. Well, I also experience some lags while swiping the screen and also while in gaming (with oc). Do you know what's causing it to slow down?

thnx for the tip, i was trying with this one from doomlord https://github.com/DooMLoRD/caf-prima but errors were giving me a headache
ill look into the xperia L sources
edit:
solved the prima puzzle,,, ss sources dont include it, so i jumped to the ds sources which had the prima source available already and thanks to showp1987 who has the fixes for the prima errors, i can compile the module, the previous errors from manually adding prima to staging was too much for me to handle.. LOL
now i have another problem,,,, why is the module so HUUUGGEE... 36mb,,, that just isnt right...
